Thank you for the comparison Davi! :) The World version is definitely my favorite, and the Rise one harkens back to the original Dos version in it's use of more traditional instruments to fit Rajang's nature as a legendary beast, in my opinion.
Just finally getting involved with high rank stuff in Rise. It’s been terrifying trying to stay alive while I lure him over to my intended target, but OH MAN is it wild riding him and making him beat the everliving crap out of my target. Both the leading and the beating are absolutely brutal. This monke is terrifying. I’m definitely nervous for when it’s finally his turn to be hunted.
Rajang is a name originating in Sanskrit and it means "The King" so I would say that all themes try to accentuate this aspect of his origin. He's always been a sort of Indian inspired monster. Not just with the Sitar, but also with the Pungi, which sounds like a snake charmer flute. It's definitely a cool standout monster and designed to be an Indian monster to the core
The original theme has this sort of dangerous yet mystical vibe, like a warning towards approaching such an elusive beast. Rise brings the mysticism to a new level, giving Rajang what feels to me a mythical aura, like the rueful ballad of an angry demigod. Iceborne’s rendition then is much more based in the reality of Rajang, being that it’s a savage, brutal, wild ape, who’s raging tantrums would be almost cartoonish if it weren’t for it’s barbaric ferocity and merciless aggression. The theme is just as much threatening and powerful as it is almost goofy, the overbearing nature of the music being a constant reminder of just how stressful fighting Rajang is, while the jazzy bits remind you that at his core, Rajang is still a big angry funky monke. I have hunted over a hundred of these bad boys through all the monster hunter games I’ve played, and not a moment was wasted.
As far as the association between monkeys/apes and swing, I know there's Disney's The Jungle Book that's much older than the Tarzan movie. Though I have heard some suggestions that it started with racist depictions of black swing musicians and then turned into something more wholesome by people who didn't know that origin and just liked the image of monkeys having fun with that kind of lively music.
Thats what I was thinking. Since jazz was created by black people in the US it wouldnt surprise me if something like Disney associated jungle monkeys with big band jazz just to be racist pretty much
Exactly what I was thinking. I’m just glad that connection is no longer made, tho it does leave a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. That being said, world’s version fits Rajang’s reality a lot better lmao
Iceborne's the most "unga bunga" angry monke version, the most "jungle-y" with all the Jazz and the initial trumpet. Which I believe it fits him best, especially as IB's Rajang is the most primal, brutal version of them all. Rise's a bit too soft for me, so the tension it gives during combat is a bit lessened.
@@angellara7040 I assume you've never played the older games then, because it has always been like that in the older games where they gain access to new stronger moves by G-Rank, or in the current gen's case, Master Rank.
@@Winterheart-fz8rd I've been playing mh since 2011 you asshole. And no rajang lost his ability to throw things. Something he has in high rank in every game. He lost a massive curveball and less exploitable range attack in world in exchange for powerful anti knock down. In rise he lost all three for nothing and now spent the fight leaving himself extremely open
The World theme sounds like fighting a gorilla, the Rise theme sounds like you're fighting a god, which is weird because of how much easier Rise Rajang is.
@@jasonkeith2832 honestly both. He was the first monster i truly struggled with. My favorite Rajang theme is the World version, it just hits right idk Also hope to see a Tigrex comparison somewhere in the future since he has like... 4 themes xD
I like to think that the world version feels "stronger" because Rajang was as Master rank only monster, and very VERY late game, while in rise is just high rank
I totally agree with your list! I never played Dos, so the first time I encountered Rajang was in World. And maaaan, I was blown away by this beast and his music. I had a lot of respect and I died many times to it ( there were also many Event Quest with multiple, even stronger Rajangs). Rise's theme gives this creature a whole new aspect like a Monkey-God-Like-Creature and I can see why. But compared to the difficulties I had with him in World, the Rise-Rajang was a piece of cake for me, so it doesn't fit for me.
The way Rise emphasizes the unique elements of monster themes is so good. World's OST is fantastic, but I feel like a lot of the covers kinda diminish whatever it was that made the original stand out and feel different. The example I always go to for this was Kushala and Teostra: these two monsters are literally polar opposites in terms of theme and their music reflects that, but Rise did it so much better I feel
Well, Ryozo paid hefty amount of money to booked Nashville studio. Of course they're going big with full chamber orchestra. But yeah they should add a little bit of spice with ethic instruments like tabla or darbuka.
Yeah, World’s themes were too bombastic at inappropriate times. Rajang’s theme is great because it’s perfectly appropriate to go nuts with on the other hand!
@@emblemblade9245 Its definitely good, however i feel the energy isnt as well kept as in the original. The original gives you a heart attack and then keeps the energy going at a constant rate yet doesnt feel too grand or heroic, just stressfull and chaotic. Which fits its purpose as a combat theme really well.
This is it. This is what I've been waiting for. Thank you for this awesome vid. Not just analysis but you compared them too! My personal fav are World ver. Love the jazz that mixed in the song.
That horn cry at the start of the World Rajang theme works well for how encounters usually go. You're fighting some monster, then suddenly you hear its iconic roar, followed by that music. Gives Rajang appearances a very sudden "oh no." I think I'd say the same for liking the World theme most out of these. The Rise themes are overall a bit subdued and the bongos (I think), the bass filling the quiet spots and the jazzy stuff is nice. Adds some levity to the theme without reducing its impact.
I do like Rise's version but I think it lacks intensity, it kinda makes it feel underwhelming compared to World's, which is funny because that's also how I feel about the Rajang fight in Rise. Dravonista made a great mix which to me feels like the definitive Rajang theme.
The Rise theme is my absolute favourite just for the new bit that plays around 12:30 in the vid. Its amazing, gives off real middle eastern kinda desert sultan vibes (imo) which imo suits it perfectly.
The perfect Rajang theme imo would be one with both the intense orchestration of World and the vocals of Rise. Honestly, I feel this way about pretty much all the themes they share, Zinogre's being another great example.
as a hunter who has hunted over 1000 rajang in GU, World and (almost) Rise I'm compelled to say that World version is the best, it's very very intimidating yet also very hype and if u don't mind please check out fOST for the first Mana Khemia it's very underrated but I genuinely believe that the OST in that game is one of the best classic JRPG music ever, it match the theme of the game so well and it gave nostalgia feel so hard
I think the reason Rajang theme is so good is because of the middle Eastern touch of it. Like how Teostra’s so good because of the African (I believe) influence in its music. That’s why I liked worlds version but I wasn’t creamy about it
Some very good MH themes you should react to are Velkhana’s themes, Shantien’s themes, and Shara Ishvalda’s themes. Shara Ishvalda has some of the most unique MH music I’ve ever heard.
I don't understand so many don't like the original. I've always thought the original version was the Best by FAR. I often listen to it in the car or at the gym, it really fires me up. I can't be the only one.
i haven't played dos, but rajang's og theme is absolutely primal and ferocious. like imagine you're out hunting something else and you hear those first handful of notes, you get that "OH GOD OH NO" moment. iceborne still has some of that primal feeling, but it's definitely not quite as intense with the addition of the saxophone and the like. it's super fun to jam along to, though. one of my faves. rise's feels very... lackluster? in comparison. it's not bad by any means, but like you said, it lacks that oomph that the iceborne, and especially the og from dos, have. personally, i prefer iceborne's version overall. it's good music to play in the background while i'm doing other stuff, because it gets me pumped up.
I personally get the biggest jump in blood pressure from the OG theme because of the memories of it invading G Rank quests. But being a big jazz fan my favorite is the World version. It slaps so hard!
I definitely never noticed the upright bass in the World theme until you pointed it out. This is the kind of thing I love discovering through your videos Davi. Great stuff! Also, I haven’t begged you for a Shara Ishvalda breakdown in a while so here it is 😂🤣. PLEASE DAVI! Keep up the amazing videos my friend. Edit (I’m writing these as the video goes): Your knowledge and ability to point out more obscure regional instruments in the Rise theme as also very impressive and is another one of the many reason I love your videos. In the end, my personal favorite is the World theme. The “punchiness” best reflect Rajang imo. I understand why they have a more muted overall sound for Rise to let the regional instruments stand out more, but the muted’ness is a downer for me. I feel they could have mixed it to make the regional instruments stand out without making it seem so muted overall. Still great music regardless though.
Personally I feel the Rise theme fits it best as the vocals mixed with the still very powerful sounds works in paying homage to the origins of Rajang and Dragon Ball as Sun Wukong references, the mysticism it displays really sets it apart as the humble monkey ascends to near godhood.
Thoughts about analyzing Vaal hazaks theme? Given that Sunbreak is coming out soon and Vaal’s theme has a very gothic vibe to it, I feel like it would be fitting :)
In this case it's hard for me to decide. I love all the versions of Rajang's theme. The original is fast paced and chaotic which fits the fight. World's version feels the most primal which also fits Rajang. Rise is the slowest version to date but adds in the vocals and some more unique elements. In my opinion Rise is my least favorite and I honestly can't decide between World and the original. But the Rise version is certainly good. And please do an Oltura (Stories 2 final boss) video I'm begging. Keep up the awesome videos Davi!
Before even watching the video Ima say World. I just love how world handles remixing old themes into more orchestral atmospheric themes to compliment the more complex gameplay
I'm agree, Rise was the 2nd. (Doesn't Mean the original one wasbad) Because even though it was less strong than the others, but it has some unique aspect and element that i really like. When World was full of orchestra, Rise was fully traditional.
I think an analysis of namielles theme could be cool. Gives a really cool underwater vibe and is pretty unique. Also kinda sounds like a James Bond theme lol
Man, when I saw your face on the miniature, I had to watch it 😂 I went like "Oh Geez, he got so many things to tell us, as far as I can say 🤣" I don't know which of them I prefer, they got all different "personalities", it's so interesting! The jazzy one sounds a bit like cartoon, and the world version sounds epic
I know there’s a video that mixes the original and world‘s version together, and then there’s one that mixes world and rise together. I feel like a mixture of all three would definitely make it very intense with the attack notes all combined. I liked the original and world mixture because of the strong sound and also I prefer the original instrument used in the original theme
You could listen to the Nioh 2 music. The game is based on real life people (their actions and reactions) and sort of justifying their choices on the real history with mitological aspects. And the songs represents VERY WELL each human being there (specially if you study and read about them). Recommend Tokichiro and Azai Nagamasa tracks.
Huh, now that you mention the themes in Rise pronouncing their unique aspects more, I recall that with Teostra as well. It's interesting and a great concept for an OST, but I think I preferred the more neutral themes of the past, like original Rajang, more tied into the concept of it being an entirely different world, with creatures, not characters. OG Rajang hits the hardest for me and like it more as a videogame theme, World Rajang sounds good to listen to if I want some jazz, but that new section added in did sound very Hollywood horror to me, with the stinging strings, very accurate for the terror of Rajang but it broke up my vibe with the band having fun. I think you'd like the Sonic Unleashed soundtrack.
It's most a rare and divine creature, but I prefer that compared to a jazz version, I don't like the world version. When a fight rajang I fight a rare MO key, a mythological monster in my mind, so yeah...
@@benjaminmendy-cadol2706 combined with the fact that rajang is lobotomized in rise, the tame, calm, mystical music serves him well. World he's rough, fast, deadly and bombastic. The fleeting and powerful jazz ensemble matches this imo lol
I definitely think Rise does the original version more justice, in all aspects but the "omph" you describe. Maybe if the Rise version had a little more "omph" it'd be first place, but I really still like the direction they took in Rise for sure.

I hope that in next big Monster Hunter game, Rise theme for Rajang is playing when fighting its non-charged version and when Rajang powers up music turns to Worlds one to give that extra "punch".
The World version is also my favorite. I'm just such a sucker for brassy, big band music, and would highly recommend the Monster Hunter Swing album to anyone who hasn't heard it yet because it's full of great remixes in this style. I really do like how Rise tries to expand upon what makes the original versions of monster themes unique to them though. Even if I prefer the MHWorld composition of something like Kushala's theme, I still find it cool how well Rise captures the feeling of fighting something in a cold, windy storm.
Man, I seriously look forward to when you get the chance to finally listen to the new themes for the new monsters when Sunbreak gets released, I'm even fascinated with how they really sound. I have listened to the Rajang theme from World, though I personally entered the Monster Hunter franchise by Rise. Honestly, the Rise/Dos version for Rajang, I personally feel that version fits Rajang best as, as I understand it, there is a Buddhist connection, mainly from the story "Journey to the West", where there was a very mighty monkey by the name of Son Goku or Sun Wukong (Japanese or Chinese respectively, depending on where you hear his story). Sun Wukong is very, VERY capable of challenging the heavenly warriors, which in turn fits well with the nature of Rajang who is capable of challenging the mighty Elder Dragons!
A very cool comparison ! I personally prefer the world I think a comparison of either all the Tigrex themes or all the glavenus/mizu themes would be awesome.
MHdos: a mystical, rare creature that deserves a great deal of respect MHW: *RUN FOR YOUR LIFE IT’S RAJANG, THE BANE OF ELDERS AND VETERAN HUNTERS ALIKE* MHR: remember that mystical creature? Yeah he’s as toned down as his music now
The Monkey+Jazz combination reminds me more of the George of The Jungle movie, where at the end the gorilla friend is singing in a club and having the time of his life
Very interesting video! I prefer the World version. The desert vibe of the original version is nice, but I think the jungle vibe suits Rajang very well and the jazzy vibe is really cool. It reminds me of Donkey Kong music a little bit! The Rise version is also good. I can feel Rajang’s sacredness rather than his ferocity. He usually sleeps everywhere though, it’s hilarious. Thank you, Davi. I really enjoyed this!
Love this vid. The fact is that i dont notice to music or theme of a monster too much because all my attention is on the monsters moves and im busy trying to survive the match.
A Disney movie that came out before Tarzan that featured a jazzy monkey theme was from The Jungle Book with I Wanna Be Like You. I don't know about jazzy monkey theme before that though.
so, the world version was jazzy, i liked it a lot, but then, they got from jazzy with some indian aspects to a more arab sounding. i really liked that, but i would prefer a mid-term between them
Ah unfortunately since he's reacted to the world version, I don't think he'll do the same monster in 2 separate videos, comparison or not. Tbh he should have done the comparisons from the beginning lol
My girlfriend fought Rajang for the first time a few days ago and when she was getting completely wrecked I was jamming out with a dance emote I love this franchise
As just videogame music I like the F2 version better, but as a Rajang theme I like the world version the most. Idk if it is because of that monkey association with jazz or because the strong percussions remind me of how hard Rajang hits, but it fits too well.
In regard to big band jazz and monkeys, primates, etc, I don’t know if this is the start of the association, but in Disney’s jungle book, there is an iconic character called king louie and his character was associated with big band jazz. This goes back to the 1960’s so that could be the origin.
The association with monkeys and Jazz would come from the old Disney Jungle Book, right? King Louie "I wanna be like you", right? True, that's definitely swing, not jazz, but close enough?
I do like the Worlds version better, I think it embodies the overwhelming brutality of Rajang better. I remember Rajang as the strong muscle monster, not an exotic middle eastern monster.
As far as I am aware, the oldest instance of Jazz and the jungle specifically coming together was in Disney’s 1967 film The Jungle Book. But even in the 1920’s when Jazz was the new musical phenomenon on the rise, it was regarded as a rogue and reckless sort of music, hated as being alien and degenerate by the older generations, and loved for its (then) uniquely high energy by the younger masses. So it always had a wild connotation, it just became codified with the Jungle Book. And then Nintendo’s Donkey Kong Country series went cemented it further, with Tarzan following the trend. Jazz’s wild and manic roots fit what society considers a wild and manic tropical forest. Old jazz and the jungle both share a wild energy to them.
Personally I call Rajang the MH Donkey Kong because his track reminds me of a violent Donkey Kong, maybe that’s where it came from? Not sure if that came before Tarzan or after
holy shit man i just found your channel and instantly sub!! you doing such a good job on explaining and everyone can see that you really feel the music and love what you are doing a recomandation: Dark Souls 3 Midir OST
"There's an association between monkeys and big band jazz... I just don't know why. Even in Disney's Jungle book they did this... I'm just not sure what the association is." *Americans leave the chat*
I'm liking this series, I'd personally love to see an analysis of the Tigrex themes sometime! It has the original MHF2/FU version from second gen, then it gets a new version for some reason in MH4/4U. Then of course it gets a new theme in Iceborne and then Rise, for a total of 4 different takes on Tigrex's music
Hi Davi ! There are some really good league of legends themes songs to review too!! Examples: 1- Jhin theme 2- Aphelios theme 3- Pantheon theme 4- Kindred theme 5- Fiddlesticks theme
It’s just kinda clicked with me that people get so passionate about which theme they prefer, to the point where they’ll disregard or dislike other versions because it isn’t like the one they prefer, instead of just being happy that there’s multiple versions of the theme.
If anyone wants to hear other jazzy Monster Hunter themes like the World version of Rajang, Capcom actually released a couple of Monster Hunter jazz albums. If you don't look up any others, definitely look up the jazz version of the Brachydios theme. It works surprisingly well
I think Rajang's themes have the same problem going on that Zinogre's themes have. OG themes were a high octane, no BS pure threat. You fought to the death, and the percussion especially accentuated this. This was perfect because these monsters are usually very aggressive & fast, and take the adrenaline rush to the triple double when enraged. I feel that further iterations of their themes have become progressively weak, & lost that very characteristic "oomph" that made you feel physically threatened. You see this in a lack of percussion in Rise and a kind of cartoony disservice in World in Rajang's case, and a sort of weak melody in World in some parts and a spiced up theme in Rise that just doesn't live up to the relentlessness and recklessness of Zinogre's electrifying OG theme. I'd definitely have their first themes back, I want to clench hard & grab my seat as hard as I can whenever I fight one of them, & feel as if my very own life depended on it.
Have to say I thought world’s version was best. As was the intro. I got so pumped up watching it go at it with the Kirin. The fact that I went into the fight woefully under prepared made for some great tension.
First time i've heard it, but i think the part at 3:25 might be my favourite bit from all of these. It's a shame that they de-emphasized the very driven, percussion-focused aspects of it in the future versions.
I feel like they really wanted to go for a kind of 'cheeky monké' vibe with Icebourne's Rājan, it almost has a Donkey Kong kind of cheeky/cartoony vibe? Also, on RUclips, look up _Monkey - Animools by RUclipsr Shoocharu.... Rājan's MHE:IB theme reminds me of this animation for some reason! 😂
Another great video Davi! Personally my favourite version has got to be World. My first time fighting Rajang was in World and the theme really encapsulates him so well, the fight is super frantic and intense with the music being the same. Jazzy and punchy just like Rajang's movements in World. As difficult as I find fighting Rajang is, the theme alone keeps me coming back and having a great time I just can't get mad at him for kicking my ass xD
I believe World and Iceborne's versions of all themes are the absolute pinnacle of MH music. Stars at Our Backs, Astera, Seliana Gathering Hub, Ancient Forest, Rotten Vale, Hoarfrost Reach, Fatalis, Safi, Rajang, Vaal Hazak, Bazel, Brachy, Teostra, Kulve, and Glavenus are all fantastic tunes and have their best implementation in this game as far as I'm concerned. I will concede that Rise gathering hub is a banger, though.
One thing I don't like at all about the remixes in MHR is that Capcom insists on giving every monster theme vocals. In the past hearing a choir in monster theme was almost like an intimidation because it was almost exclusively for high tier elder dragons. Now they just give it to everybody, even those whose themes don't mix well with vocals...I guess the intimidation factor has transitioned from vocals to "unique vocals", such as a beautiful solo
The vocals were just there for fitting the game world’s aesthetic, not so much to make it more epic. And while some of them were misses, I adore what they did with Nargacuga, Zinogre, and Ibushi/Narwa/the Allmother, it’s just beautiful
I have a hard time deciding which themes are better because all of them are good for their reason, but I held Rise's and the original rendition a little above World's because it sort of- Did something that the original did, and that make the theme sound feel like you're in the desert, barefoot and blistered while fighting a fast, and frightening beast regardless if Rise's was the slowest. I like the World's rendition for making it sound more fierce but certainly had me feel slow at times and the beginning had me sold. Definitely, both the new renditions did well to the original in their ways.
The rise version sounds softer maybe because they try to representa the mythical side of rajang while as explorer /scientists point of view rajang is just a beast which why it sound more epic and violent
angry monke
Also, make sure to get caught up with all my Rise music videos before Sunbreak arrives: ruclips.net/video/Qf5SaVhbzCQ/видео.html

use of more traditional instruments to fit Rajang's nature as a legendary beast, in my opinion.
You should look at some of Destiny’s Raid Boss themes

I have hunted over a hundred of these bad boys through all the monster hunter games I’ve played, and not a moment was wasted.
this is easily the most groovy angry monke theme ive ever heard. it fits him very well. i realy love the eastern bits alot!
Since jazz was created by black people in the US it wouldnt surprise me if something like Disney associated jungle monkeys with big band jazz just to be racist pretty much
Baaaasically this. Early cartoon depictions of such were wildly racially coded with apes.
Exactly what I was thinking. I’m just glad that connection is no longer made, tho it does leave a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. That being said, world’s version fits Rajang’s reality a lot better lmao
Tbh, I think monkeys and jazz because of Donkey Kong oooh oooh ah ah
@@MistaFinni that doesn’t mean what they said was wrong though?
Iceborne's the most "unga bunga" angry monke version, the most "jungle-y" with all the Jazz and the initial trumpet. Which I believe it fits him best, especially as IB's Rajang is the most primal, brutal version of them all. Rise's a bit too soft for me, so the tension it gives during combat is a bit lessened.
Well Rise's Rajang fight is less intense too, so it makes sense.
I mean.... It's in High Rank....

i hope to see that too.
if you count diorex 5, if counting chase and mount ones 8
Same for me. World Rajang, Nargacuga, and Teostra themes just feel right.
"So much punch" - every player fighting Rajang ever
Gives Rajang appearances a very sudden "oh no."
I think I'd say the same for liking the World theme most out of these.
This was awesome! You're so good at pointing out and highlighting the little musical details that are so easy to miss.
ayyy he did my request thank you!!! :)) I asked for this comparison even before the other ones because i always felt the world version hit different
The perfect Rajang theme imo would be one with both the intense orchestration of World and the vocals of Rise. Honestly, I feel this way about pretty much all the themes they share, Zinogre's being another great example.
9:28 "So much punch"... not only in the music, not only in the music...
as a hunter who has hunted over 1000 rajang in GU, World and (almost) Rise
I'm compelled to say that World version is the best, it's very very intimidating yet also very hype
and if u don't mind please check out fOST for the first Mana Khemia
it's very underrated but I genuinely believe that the OST in that game is one of the best classic JRPG music ever, it match the theme of the game so well and it gave nostalgia feel so hard
Honestly Iceborne's version just cleans house with its absolute bombast and savagery, you really feel the fury and wrath of *FURIOUS GEORGE*
Even a banjo can be played in different eastern styles and it sounds absolutely amazing. Instruments are amazing in the hands of different people :D
i haven't played dos, but rajang's og theme is absolutely primal and ferocious. like imagine you're out hunting something else and you hear those first handful of notes, you get that "OH GOD OH NO" moment.
iceborne still has some of that primal feeling, but it's definitely not quite as intense with the addition of the saxophone and the like. it's super fun to jam along to, though. one of my faves.
rise's feels very... lackluster? in comparison. it's not bad by any means, but like you said, it lacks that oomph that the iceborne, and especially the og from dos, have.
personally, i prefer iceborne's version overall. it's good music to play in the background while i'm doing other stuff, because it gets me pumped up.
Personally I feel the Rise theme fits it best as the vocals mixed with the still very powerful sounds works in paying homage to the origins of Rajang and Dragon Ball as Sun Wukong references, the mysticism it displays really sets it apart as the humble monkey ascends to near godhood.
i don't like how the progression from IB rajang to rise rajang was "angry monke jazz" to "indian music with a constipated guy groaning in pain"
Thoughts about analyzing Vaal hazaks theme? Given that Sunbreak is coming out soon and Vaal’s theme has a very gothic vibe to it, I feel like it would be fitting :)
The vocals in Rise make it my favorite. Lacks some of the intensity but the vocals make up for it in my opinion.
First time hearing this in world was epic, and terrifying
In this case it's hard for me to decide. I love all the versions of Rajang's theme. The original is fast paced and chaotic which fits the fight. World's version feels the most primal which also fits Rajang. Rise is the slowest version to date but adds in the vocals and some more unique elements. In my opinion Rise is my least favorite and I honestly can't decide between World and the original. But the Rise version is certainly good.
And please do an Oltura (Stories 2 final boss) video I'm begging.
Keep up the awesome videos Davi!
Oi Davi. It has to be the World version for me. Love the jazziness. Great video :)
Before even watching the video Ima say World. I just love how world handles remixing old themes into more orchestral atmospheric themes to compliment the more complex gameplay
Always chant "funny monkey" when rajang's theme plays, he will have mercy on you
I'm agree, Rise was the 2nd. (Doesn't Mean the original one wasbad) Because even though it was less strong than the others, but it has some unique aspect and element that i really like. When World was full of orchestra, Rise was fully traditional.
The farthest I can remember about any early association between monkeys and jazz was Disney's Jungle Book.
I heard that version, too, and it's godly. Wish it was 30 minutes long instead of 8-ish
World/Rise Mashup: ruclips.net/video/9zVrNFfh6pI/видео.html
All World's theme need is to change that conga with tabla or darbuka. And nobody will complain this one sounds more ethnic than others.
I second listening to various Sonic OSTs! Not even being ironic, but Sonic 06 had some BANGERS, as bad as the game was.
Rise rajang just feels to quiet and calm (compared to the others). for me they just don't make me feel like im fighting a fast, crazy, deadly monkey.
It's supposed to represent the mystical legend side of super saiyan compared to the raw power and anger of them with world.
@@bobsmith8405 I can understand that but it just doesn't work for me.
Yeah i prefer rise’s version theme but i dont like rajang’s nerfed version. Hopefully they buff his monkey ass in sunbreak!
I've been waiting for this since Zinogre's! Learning about Rajang's theme made me love be it even more!
I definitely think Rise does the original version more justice, in all aspects but the "omph" you describe. Maybe if the Rise version had a little more "omph" it'd be first place, but I really still like the direction they took in Rise for sure.

@@DaviVasc Thanks! :D
I hope that in next big Monster Hunter game, Rise theme for Rajang is playing when fighting its non-charged version and when Rajang powers up music turns to Worlds one to give that extra "punch".
Man every time your episodes come out you force me to sit down at my PC with headphones instead of watching it on phone speakers haha.
MHdos: a mystical, rare creature that deserves a great deal of respect
MHW: *RUN FOR YOUR LIFE IT’S RAJANG, THE BANE OF ELDERS AND VETERAN HUNTERS ALIKE*
MHR: remember that mystical creature? Yeah he’s as toned down as his music now
An invader monster that doesn't invade, that's what he is in rise.
MHW is just Monke, he doesn't care, he doesn't think, he just does
The Monkey+Jazz combination reminds me more of the George of The Jungle movie, where at the end the gorilla friend is singing in a club and having the time of his life
Very interesting video!
Keep making more, these videos are really good!
A Disney movie that came out before Tarzan that featured a jazzy monkey theme was from The Jungle Book with I Wanna Be Like You. I don't know about jazzy monkey theme before that though.
Oh that is right!
I was waiting for this video glad I found it.
Ok BUT! Khezu theme review when?
Also! man I love watching your stuff! Especially how your able to put the emotions them music gives off into words
Thank you my friend!
so, the world version was jazzy, i liked it a lot, but then, they got from jazzy with some indian aspects to a more arab sounding. i really liked that, but i would prefer a mid-term between them
great video. Never mist a video. Keep going strong.
I really enjoy these comparison videos. A comparison of the Alatreon themes would be great. I don't recall if you have done that one yet.
Ah unfortunately since he's reacted to the world version, I don't think he'll do the same monster in 2 separate videos, comparison or not. Tbh he should have done the comparisons from the beginning lol
My girlfriend fought Rajang for the first time a few days ago and when she was getting completely wrecked I was jamming out with a dance emote
I love this franchise
Apparently Rajang is the only non-elder dragon to prey on Elder Dragons.
Just Kirin, but, yes, Elder Dragons nonetheless
Deviljho:
As just videogame music I like the F2 version better, but as a Rajang theme I like the world version the most. Idk if it is because of that monkey association with jazz or because the strong percussions remind me of how hard Rajang hits, but it fits too well.
Could you please do the newest rendition of King Dedede theme from Kirby Forgotten Land. It is such a good version and got my hyped
These themes are so hard not to bop too or dance too, it's so great!
World version is the best.
Those constant bongos and jazz music suits that style on monke
id love for you to react to the nargacuga theme, the beats and rhythm go all over the place so itd be very fun to see you try to figure it out >:)
Personally I call Rajang the MH Donkey Kong because his track reminds me of a violent Donkey Kong, maybe that’s where it came from? Not sure if that came before Tarzan or after
holy shit man i just found your channel and instantly sub!! you doing such a good job on explaining and everyone can see that you really feel the music and love what you are doing
a recomandation: Dark Souls 3 Midir OST
Thanks man, and welcome!
"There's an association between monkeys and big band jazz... I just don't know why. Even in Disney's Jungle book they did this... I'm just not sure what the association is."
*Americans leave the chat*
Ye... I hope that's not the reason lol
I second this.
Hi Davi !
There are some really good league of legends themes songs to review too!!
Examples:
1- Jhin theme
2- Aphelios theme
3- Pantheon theme
4- Kindred theme
5- Fiddlesticks theme
You're missing a theme my good man!! The mount themes are all different and go HAAAAARD!! Definitely give them a listen to and review!
It’s just kinda clicked with me that people get so passionate about which theme they prefer, to the point where they’ll disregard or dislike other versions because it isn’t like the one they prefer, instead of just being happy that there’s multiple versions of the theme.
I’ve always been a sucker for string instruments so the sitar backing is great but I like worlds the best just barely because of how rajang is
If anyone wants to hear other jazzy Monster Hunter themes like the World version of Rajang, Capcom actually released a couple of Monster Hunter jazz albums.
The rajang chase theme where you are the one being chase is the most intense ost I ever heard
Don't forget the rajang mount theme. Tons of drums and such. A lot of the music in iceborne is hidden in the retreat, area and mounted themes
I will concede that Rise gathering hub is a banger, though.
i think the original theme suits Rajangs personality the best, its threatening but focussed. Primitive and instictial but intzellegent none the less.
Rajangs theme fits with a 1920's jungle Mafia car chase, the theme is basically making him seem like a mob boss
