That phase 3 is for a specific type of Disufiroa, known as a Shiten Disufiroa. Most Disufiroa are highly unstable, and getting too angry will actually cause their elements to grow out of control, ultimately killing them. Shiten Disufiroa can conquer this instability and revitalize themselves with the full power of both of their elements; they essentially kill themselves, then bring themselves back to life entirely to kill you at 100% power.
Strongly recommend listening to Shantien’s theme as well. It’s a flying storm serpent like Ibushi and Narwa, and a monster that’s on par with Dhisufiroa, Fatalis, and Alatreon (without the inherent murderous hostility). I think it’s one of the best tracks in Frontier.
Shantien is INTENSELY strong, but remember it’s race competed with the Disufiroa race for land, failed and were driven to the skies. I wouldn’t say on par (they’re not Black Dragons), but REALLY close. Beautiful monster

dhisufiroa's theme is crazy, it's really suiting for the doom-bringing nature of the dragon and it's sheer icy anger at you for daring to enter it's own domain. i like to call it the "Frozen Beast at the End of the World". might i also recommend another track in Kuarusepusu? It isn't actually its own theme, it's the G rank version of a locale theme, but everybody considers it to be the leviathens theme :)
Interesting fact, this Elder Dragon actually has trouble controlling it's power and preventing it from killing the Elder Dragon and in the game, the weaker ones die from losing focus over their power in the fight than the hunters directly. Phase three is for the ones that survive the backlash, who are far more dangerous. The Mi Ri is a very interesting monster from Frontier.
What i love with this fight is the fact that when dhisu make a meteor fall from the sky, he have to create an ice shield to protect himself from his own attack. Prove how strong the explosion must be (And the light effect is really cool)
Initially when I heard the theme, I had mixed feelings since it felt messy, yet now that I know more about Dhisufiora it perfectly suits it. This dragon is capable of not only using ice, fire and dragon but can actually fuse these elements together into its attacks, however this comes at a cost, Dhisu has to keep strong control over its powers or it risks killing itself. Dhisufiroa’s death animation shows it freezing itself over as a result of losing control, however stronger versions of Dhisufiroa (3rd phase) are able to revive themselves out of this state by melting the ice encasing themselves and grow more powerful in the process.
a bit of MHF trivia: Disufiroa is a Black Dragon, and a close relative of Alatreon, utilizing an element called Frozen Seraphim (a combination of fire, ice, and dragon element)
The importance of the fight, as you already figured out, is immense. Dhisufiroa fought Shantien during the great dragon war (the war that essentially gave Fatalis its legacy and caused to world of MH to be as it is now in the games). Both Shantien and Dhisufiroa represent a different kind of holy being. Disu is supposed to be a seraphim and I have forgotten what shantien represents.
Crazy frontier fan here btw. You fight Disu in the World's End, because the dude obliterated an entire landmass for his home that's constantly plagued by meteors, blizzards, eruptions, etc. The theme is full of finality due to how Disu is the final boss of frontier and the stronger Rival of the other final boss, Shantien. The third phase of Disufiroa only plays in special quests against him where he revives himself after death. Disufiroa is actually frontier's black dragon, and the only relative of Alatreon, hence it using fire, ice, and dragon. It literally gets a unique title of "The strongest monster" due to it being one of the only monsters capable of rivaling Fatalis in power. Frontier's ost was much more diverse, with jazz music, to straight up quiet wind noises for monster themes. Since Shantien is Disufiroa's rival, it would fit to have him be next.
I like to believe that because of its nature to keep the elements under control, the percussion represents that with its constant swapping of pace and tempo (like how in phase 1 its 1,2,3 then suddenly speeds up to 1,2,3,4 and it repeats back and forth)
Theres a lot going on in this one. Halfway through it seems to portray the calm before the stom or the eye of the storm. The last phase sounds very mechanical and metallic just before the vocals come back in and bring back in the human element. Very interesting. Thanks Davi!
I like to think the intense mix of sheer brass, guitar, and choir all comes together to form this sense of “unnatural”, while absolutely steeping it in terror and hopelessness. Dhisufiroa is a Black Dragon on a whole ‘nother level. Plus, the contrast I feel represents the opposites of fire and ice(it’s elements) in the first phase, the instruments fighting each other for dominance in a way that sort of resembles Alatreon. But then the second phase kicks in, and suddenly the instruments aren’t fighting anymore. They’re in harmony, wholly focused on ending YOU. And then phase three kicks in, and all of sudden, the track feels…empty. The instruments becomes restrained, with the background synths taking the spotlight for a while. But the brass, choir, and guitar ARE still there, almost like they’re being held back. Dhisufiroa isn’t trying to survive anymore. It’s barely holding itself together. No, all it’s trying to do is kill YOU, the one thing that could ever bring it low. It’s domineering in the best way, and one of my favorite set of tracks in Frontier. There’s not a theme besides Fatalis that so utterly embodies sheer hopelessness.
I’ve always felt that Disufiora’s theme is similar to Fatalis’s- in that they’re the only two monsters that actually have vocalization in their themes. Though the difference is extremely interesting: Fatalis’s theme sounds almost reverent, definitely an emotion of “dread”, that this thing is menacing, thoughtful, intent on destruction. It has purpose, which goes along with the strong theory that Fatalis holds a grudge against humanity for their abuse long ago. Disu’s theme, to me, literally just sounds like a chant, a prayer- almost cult-like. They’re just chanting his name over and over again as if he’s a literal god incarnate. Fatalis may be cold, calculated, unstoppable- but Disufiora is literally just a force of nature. You almost can’t stop it. I always interpreted the whispers as: “Disu… Freeze…”, which is the creepiest bit. Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but I love these two themes.
hope you continue the Frontier series, i wanna hear your opinion about UNKNOWN (Black Rathian) theme and Crimson Fatalis theme those 2 really has scary yet awesome soundtrack for me.
Been waiting to see this pop up! I have never played frontier, but there's so many unique monsters that I wish we had in mainline! Some reccomendations: Shantien theme [it's LONG but gorgeous], Amatsu/Exotic Amatsu, [Frontier themes!] and Duremudira [Also frontier!]
Ooo if you’re doing Frontier, I strongly suggest listening to the 4 phases of Shantien’s theme. I haven’t played Frontier and it’s probably my favorite theme music in the franchise!
Never thought I'd hear your analysis of Frontier's music! Frontier's OST is truly amazing and this piece is one of my favorites. The characteristic of the fire and the ice that Disufiroa possesses is well expressed in this piece, with the intense rhythm, the restrained whispery chorus , and the emotional and heroic melody. I highly recommend Mi Ru theme, which has Japanese vibes. I love the part where the electric guitar comes in suddenly! So unique piece in Frontier OST. Thank you for this video, Davi!
Would love to see more content related to the frontier series. They have some of the best music in the entire MH series imo. It helps that a lot of themes have LR, HR and GR versions. Great Forest (G rank), Abiorugu Theme (Both HR and GR) and I'll end the suggestions with Berserk Laviente's themes. Dear god I love phase 4's theme. Way too many to suggest, way too many good themes...
You definitely MUST listen to the Shantiyen themes. This is imo the far best OST from every Monster Hunter, especially the last phases which is an absolute MASTERPIECE.
Great reaction videos, thank you for adding substantial content of your own instead of just sitting there and listening without saying anything! That said, i'd like to recommend reacting to Touhou music, it's niche but very good...idolatrize world is one of the better ones
I'm glad you are checking out Frontier now, I highly recommend that you check out Odibatorasu, Inagami, Mi'Ru, Shantien, Harudomerugu, Violent Raviente... theres just way too many great tracks!
Let’s gooo! Frontier’s music is soo good I recommend Forokururu’s theme, it’s a really elegant theme, definitely a different tone when it comes to a normal monster Hunter theme
HE REVIEWED IT!!! One thing I've always wanted to point out is that a little known observation is that Disufiroa's first phase is actually a re-instrumentation or remix of the HR100 Abiorugu theme. If you ever check out that theme I hope to see your reaction to that!
really awesome seeing you break down these amazing themes and explain different chords and the feels they Give off. I am very much looking foward to more frontier music, there is so many hidden gems since the game wasn't in the west.
Excellent video as always Davi Vasc! On wether or not he is a Elder Dragon, the answer is yes, if I remember the lore video(cuz I too haven’t played frontier😩, so I could be off a small bit) he is on the same power level as Alatreon or greater(it’s been a while since I watched that video) and along with fire, dragon and ice elements he has a unique element called Frozen Seraphim Element(I don’t know what it does, but he is the only one who uses it). Sorry if others have already said this and I haven’t realised, cuz nobody likes being spammed. Anyway thanks for the video! Very good theme!
Disufiroa controls the element of ice and fire(not sure if there is dragon or not). Some people also says that disufiroa is one of the forbidden monsters(black dragons)
I've been waiting for this. I don't know how the hell people could see anything in that torture. The fight is so chaotic, so much happening at once. I wish I could've played frontier.
It’s actually not too bad, since the gameplay through LR and HR slowly build to… this madness. Starting with the monsters’ attacks, which ramp up slowly with Espinas’ speed and later Toa Tesukatora’s excellent diegetic(not apparent until you take a look from outside) tutorial for AoE mechanics. It’s a well done gameplay creep, where you don’t really notice it until you’re dodging three attacks within three seconds of each other.
great analysis. i think one of the goals of the composer was to make something unique and disturbing, since disu is an end game black dragon. and i think it was composed in a way that the hunter can feel like this is hopeless situation, knowing the power of black dragons, and the fact that the area is called "World's End". do you plan on listening to Raviente/Laviente themes ? i find them incredible
One of the best mh frontier theme definitly, but the best to me (and I strongly recommend it) it's the Rebidiora theme, it's definitly my favourite frontier theme
I just couldn't help but chuckle whenever you mentioned "electric monster" while the footage shows Disufiroa spamming ice and fire attacks all over the screen. If I was watching this blind, I probably would have thought the same! Kind of makes me wonder why we associate electric guitar sound with lightning/thunder/electricity though, is there some industry reasoning behind it? (I ask this because this reminds me of your talk about how the industry always prefer to put in the "ting" sound for any theme ice-related.) Great video as always!
This was amazing as always! Listening to an epic theme I've never heard before + the analysis Loved it! I really hope he reacts to the Frontier G-rank Crimson Fatalis theme :D Frontier
Not seeing nearly as many suggestions for Kuarusepusu here as I though considering how absolutely amazing his theme is. So I'll throw my hat in for Kuarusepusu!
Another awesome awesome video and theme breakdown. As for frontier music there’s another elder dragon theme I would love you to take a look at, that would be Shantien or Shantiyen, his theme has 4 parts and part 4 specially is one of my absolute favorite themes in Monster Hunter
The monster is Chao's incarnate and so is his theme xD. I would love to see your reaction on Ravientes theme. It's evenore memorable to me at least. Great Video keep up the great reaction content ❤️💪
You know a monster is dangerous when it dies mid battle freezing itself from its sheer elemental power only to thaw itself and fight with even more intensity
I've never played Frontier or knew any of its monsters so this was a treat! Recently heard the theme for Abiorugu though, so I'll recommend that. Oh and I recently fell in love with the theme for Margit the Fell Omen from Elden RIng!
I am really excited to see you react to more Frontier music, Frontier has probably some of the greatest MH tracks of alltime, easily surpassing the mainline games' OSTs in my opinion!
I don't like a lot of Frontier designs but man the themes for a lot of them are bangers, my favorites would be Duremudira, Shantien and Eruzerion. Not sure if it's been already mentioned but Disfuiroa is meant to be the Alatreon of the Frontier series since they never got Alatreon; Frontier didn't get any monsters from the main series past the second Gen and since Alatreon is a third Gen monster he was never included in Frontier, this is also evident in the design of the two monsters they look very similar with similar animations which could explain why both use "modern" music styles.
Yessssss, I love this theme. Btw, I think electric guitar is present in this cause Disufiroa is kind of Frontier’s response to Alatreon, who’s original theme had an electric guitar. But that’s just my theory
One of the best battle themes from Frontier, i recomend UNKNOWN battle theme and some of the specific areas battle themes, like the desert (those are one of my favourites stages in MH)
Nice Video aigan I like that u reacted to disufiroa. There r more good monsters like Harudumerugo and Duremudira what also got good themes. Would like to see more reactions of mh frontier monster themes.
Monster Hunter Frontier really had such creative monsters and themes to go along with them! Honestly it'd be amazing if they ever reintroduced some of them into the main series. Some other interesting themes I'd recommend checking from Frontier would be Keoaruboru, Gasurabazura (White Lake Theme), Espinas, G-rank White Fatalis' 👌.
Cool seeing someone analyze this theme, it really is a favorite of mine. Underappreciated! :P Davi, I'm curious. I've heard these "whisper chants" in other games/shows' soundtracks ("Dark Domination" from Kingdom Hearts III, "End of the Beginning" from RWBY, etc.) and I absolutely love it, but I have no idea what those kind of vocals are called. Do they have a name? And do you know any other songs/soundtracks that utilize them?
It's just called whispers. I don't think there is a fancy name for it. I used them myself on a track I did for a gamec called Realms of Magic. It's a good way to make it sound creepy.
Oh man, I was hoping for this so much. And its even my favorite monster... or one of them. Also, I dont remenber well but, Dhisufiroa 3rd phase is kinda secret, I think it doesnt activate always dont know if its random or an specific quest... Oh it seemns that, you can only do that fight with HR9999. Usually he dies because hes no longer capable of controling the fire, ice and dragon elements he uses, but the third phase basically he just revives himself. Also, Shantien theme has like 5 phases, and each of them just gets more and more epic and majestic, you should check it up if you have the time of course.
This felt so different yet so familiar compared to other MH music. Looking forward to discovering more of Frontier's soundtrack.

a bit of MHF trivia: Disufiroa is a Black Dragon, and a close relative of Alatreon, utilizing an element called Frozen Seraphim (a combination of fire, ice, and dragon element)
Seems like my wish to see Guanzorumu's theme reviewed is a bit more real now
There is hope
The importance of the fight, as you already figured out, is immense. Dhisufiroa fought Shantien during the great dragon war (the war that essentially gave Fatalis its legacy and caused to world of MH to be as it is now in the games). Both Shantien and Dhisufiroa represent a different kind of holy being. Disu is supposed to be a seraphim and I have forgotten what shantien represents.
never heardthat track (sadly never played the online monster hunter games) but it reminds me kinda of an anime fight song. i love it, good video davi!
Absolutely love the fact you've moved to Frontier's OST. I love watching these. Shantien's themes are absolutely fantastic also.
Yep he is Frontier's black dragon. He uses the Alatreon skeleton
Damn, this sounds awesome. I was not expecting the heavy focus on the guitars.
Yeah, that caught me off guard too!
Thank you for watching, Abigail!
There’s not a theme besides Fatalis that so utterly embodies sheer hopelessness.
well, this is a welcome surprise. Didn't expect You to check out frontier music. Great video as always Davi!
I'd love to see more frontier's ost reaction in the future, especially for White Lake, Polar Sea and Keoaruboru Phase 2
I’ve always felt that Disufiora’s theme is similar to Fatalis’s- in that they’re the only two monsters that actually have vocalization in their themes. Though the difference is extremely interesting:
Fatalis’s theme sounds almost reverent, definitely an emotion of “dread”, that this thing is menacing, thoughtful, intent on destruction.
Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but I love these two themes.
hope you continue the Frontier series, i wanna hear your opinion about UNKNOWN (Black Rathian) theme and Crimson Fatalis theme
those 2 really has scary yet awesome soundtrack for me.
AYY FRONTIER
AND MY FAVORITE FRONTIER MONSTER TOO
Whoa, what a coincidence!
Finally Frontier music!
There's a lot of hidden gems there!
DANG IT IM LATE! Monster hunter do be killing it with their music. Love their compositions.
Disu is actually considered a black dragon, and well it's quite obviously related to alatreon just by looking at the design lol
Temnota Alatreon and Seraphim Disufiroa are my absolute favorite Elder Dragons. Thanks for starting MH Frontier Series!
You're going to love the Bamboo Forest theme and Inagami 's theme. Both are bangers imo
Yeah, some people have been recommending the Bamboo Forest one. Now I'm curious about it!
You definitely MUST listen to the Shantiyen themes. This is imo the far best OST from every Monster Hunter, especially the last phases which is an absolute MASTERPIECE.
Inagami from frontier is another fun one. From what little knowledge I gathered over the course of your Videos I'd say it's percussion the theme.
World's end. That's the name of the map you fight him in, and that's exactly what I hear when I listen to Dhisufiroa's theme
Wait really? That's pretty wild
White fatalis theme in frontier is also godly
In base of Lore, Disufiroa is the most powerful Elder Dragon in the existence. And my favorite with Alatreon.
really awesome seeing you break down these amazing themes and explain different chords and the feels they Give off. I am very much looking foward to more frontier music, there is so many hidden gems since the game wasn't in the west.
This monster's theme's are absolutely amazing! I've heard them for years!
So shocked you did this!! If you like the more classical stuff, Shantien and Eruzerion are definitely themes to check out :)
shantien's is DEFINITELY modern (at least phase 4) but yeah it's still a great theme
Thank you for the suggestions, Lunell!
YESSIR this is what it's all about
Finally!
I recommend the bamboo forest (day) theme it's such a unique theme with unique insterments.
Always one of my favs. Really just the whole Frontier OST in general.
Would love to see your thoughts on the Painted Falls area theme one day.
Check out Guanzorumu’s three themes in Frontier.
If there’s anything that expresses that monster’s “draconic majesty,” it’s the music.
great analysis. i think one of the goals of the composer was to make something unique and disturbing, since disu is an end game black dragon. and i think it was composed in a way that the hunter can feel like this is hopeless situation, knowing the power of black dragons, and the fact that the area is called "World's End". do you plan on listening to Raviente/Laviente themes ? i find them incredible
Sure, Laviente and Raiente are on the table for a reaction
that's awsome. Lavi and Ravi are the same monster it's just two different prononciations
Nice work!
If we're covering Frontier stuff now, would you consider reacting to Duremudira's themes? I think they're pretty interesting.
(I ask this because this reminds me of your talk about how the industry always prefer to put in the "ting" sound for any theme ice-related.)
Great video as always!
This was amazing as always! Listening to an epic theme I've never heard before + the analysis
Loved it!
I really hope he reacts to the Frontier G-rank Crimson Fatalis theme :D Frontier
Not seeing nearly as many suggestions for Kuarusepusu here as I though considering how absolutely amazing his theme is. So I'll throw my hat in for Kuarusepusu!
Disufiroa would like you to eat some cheese
Please do one for Rukodiora, my favorite Frontier monster
Thank you for watching and for the suggestion!
thanks a lot, he is one of my favorite Elder Dragons
Disu absolutely needs to return one day
I've never played Frontier or knew any of its monsters so this was a treat! Recently heard the theme for Abiorugu though, so I'll recommend that.
Oh and I recently fell in love with the theme for Margit the Fell Omen from Elden RIng!
New monster hunter fans: Hey this theme and monsters cool!
Old fans: *Trauma, PTSD*
I highly reccomend the Polar sea theme from frontier, It's one of my favorite area themes in mh and one of my favorite ice level themes in gaming!
Oh man you are gonna love Crimson Fatalis theme for Frontier
Would love to see ya listen to the theme of Shantien. It is a absolutely gorgeous theme! Great video as always man!
Awesome video! Really enjoyed it!
Glad to hear it!
Cool seeing someone analyze this theme, it really is a favorite of mine. Underappreciated! :P
Davi, I'm curious.
I *Highly* recommend listening to inagami's theme.. :) fantastic analysis as always!
I would love to see an analysis of the themes of Duremudira and the Raviente/Laviente trio.
Hey, you're doing amazing work! Keep it up!!!
