Frontier devs making crystal ailment: “what if we COMBINED the stench and blast ailments?” “What an incredible idea!” *clapping around the room* “AND it reduced stamina too?” *wild cheering around the room*
I said this before the video got claimed but I'll say it again, for someone that has just started this you're amazing at script righting and making every monster sound cool and unique, I hope to see you improve as your channel grows.
It like listening to a hunter from the frontier tells us new hunters a myth, a fight beyond our wildest dreams, to then realize that all these fights aren't myths at all
So, a couple things about Harudomerugu, since he does tend to be a point of confusion among most folks. First thing to note is his clear relation to the Diora family, being the only other dragon to possess spinal-column based wing structures rather than actual limb-based wings. Secondly... we have no actual way to know if the metal he uses is truly mercury, if it's as heavy as ours, or if mercury is an element that even exists in the world of Monster Hunter. Most people simply say it's mercury because that's the closest point of reference to our world. Also, similarly to the Dioras, it's suggested that his manipulation of the metal is an extremely specialized control over magnetic fields. So... when you asked if he just drags himself around by the wings, that might actually be pretty close to how he does it.
appreciate the clarification. Yeah I saw in a few places that said that it was Mercury but I can totally understand that they never clarified. I think It would be kinda cool if it was just cuz its cool to think about the actual implications of being battered around with large volumes of fucking mercury
The liquid metal could be a special ferrofluid, which is simply metal nanoparticles suspended in a carrier fluid, such as an organic solvent or water. Look it up, ferrofluids are pretty cool.
@@JanusHoW Could stomach acid be considered an organic solvent? I would’ve gone with sweat, but I get the feeling that the ability to sweat is actually quite rare in that world.
@@twilitlloyd7167its not something that haru has a problem with but sweating of some sort could be quite common in monsters that need to thermoregulate and manage huge amounts of heat they make or to maintain body temp with ice based monsters
As someone who was able to play frontier since 2013. You did an amazing job representing it. An insane amount of effort went into this. And a lot of love. You my friend made a phenomenal video. I love it. And I can't wait to see what more you have in store for us in the future. This in my opinion is one of the best monster hunter Videos I have seen to date. You are underrated. Honestly. And of I had a top 5 for frontier returners: Pokaradon, Taikun Zamuza, Shantien, Guanzorumu And Disufiroa
A fun thing about Zenith Hyujikiki is that those ridiculously gigantic blade spikes aren't just for show, he can LITERALLY impale you with them. Not just the usual boom you get damaged type of impaling, actual "oh shit I have a giant spike protruding out of my torso" impaling.
and it can actually kill you quite fast owo like.. you got 30 seconds before "bleeding out" if i remember correctly. much like khezu zenith, his thunder fkn up your heart xD
@@zyluxviper9450 yeah! Imagine you are a complete new hunter and witness how this pile of dick not only jumpscares you by hanging from the ceiling of a cave and bits on you, you also see him swallowing you alive until you see the "fainted" screen. I want these features in mh6, its finally time we get a true CHALLENGING game.
Say what you will about how absurd Frontier got but it definitely opened the gateway for some of the mainline's more outlandish designs, I mean we went from mostly standard wyvern faire to supersonic jet dragons, alien larval dragons, vampire/fallen paladin dragons, icy reptilians werewolves, giant earth apes, etc.
Some people I think VASTLY underestimate how much mainline learned and evolved from Frontier. There is a notable amount of attacks and skills and mechanics in the games now that you can date back to Frontier
the entire fighting style of the weapons got revamped based on frontier and somewhat mho because the flow just workes better that way - like a counter move on LS thatwas more then nessecary to make it vaible with new monsters (old mosnter do be getting destroyed though becasue of that)@@cr-volcanic
didn't realize this was a 4 hours video until I was 2 hours in thanks to your narration. it genuinely felt like one of those fantasy tavern case where a really passionate guy just read out probably a made up story but it was told with so much passion that you just enjoy listening.
9 months later and I finally unearthed this absolute radiant gemstone of a Monster Hunter movie in RUclips's search tab of Frontier. Needless to say, it was way more than worth the watch. Loved the script writing and wordplay especially. Huge props to being 100% genuinely constructive and nonbiased on criticism. That's something I don't see that often and I certainly never saw it at all back then. Thank you sincerely for your service giving what Frontier needs more of. And here's hoping Espinas did indeed burst the flood gates open
your voice absolutely rocks for the dramatic effect here! it's fun to learn new things about all these monsters even after having playing frontier, thank you for the great content.
some people hate eruzerion simple because his design is half and half which i just find weird because i love all these designs they are so edgy and i like edgy
Holy... Wow... I don't even have words for this marathon of a video. Just a big thanks for putting this Dalamadur of a video together. But in all seriousness this shows how both wild and amazing Frontier was and how over the top both the hunter gods as well as the monsters became towards the end. Many of the monster designs are part of the Monster Hunter lifeblood and it would be a tragedy to loose them. Especially some of the more unique takes of older monster classes. The leviathans, bird wyverns and fanged beasts from this game are some of the best ideas put to this franchise. I honestly wouldn't mind to see all of the home brew monsters to return to the series at some point, be it main line like World or Tri or side games like XX and Rise. And even some of the over the top Zenith concepts could come over to the mainline, only their designs should be left with old school Monster Hunter. Again thank you so much for this amazing video and for all the months worth of work you put into this!
Very rarely do you stumble across a creator who, just by their voice, you can tell genuinely loves making content. But you are one of those rare cases. I absolutely adore the work and dedication you've put into these videos and cannot wait to see more from you! I LOVE when monster hunter content creators genuinely enjoy talking about the games. Keep up the phenomenal work!
Regarding Duremudira, that he is an elder who took the Sky Corridor for himself is actually a retcon that still makes me mad to this day. Originally, he wasn't a usurper, but a guardian of the tower (not to mention multiple of them, one for each floor), CREATED by the ancient civilisation. That's right, Duremudira used to be the closest thing we ever got to an Equal Dragon Weapon. His classification reflected that too, as he used to be in the ??? category of monsters, not to mention the unnatural looking design.
@@TheGraveKnightin a way yea. It’s pointed out that Duremedira is unnaturally muscular for what it is, leading that as credence that it isn’t a monster that naturally adapted, but was manufactured.
I think I know why that retcon happened (humans creating artificial dragons is a bit outside the realm of reasonability for this series) but it’s still interesting nonetheless
first time I heard people dont like status oriented monsters when they are my favorite kind of monster makes them hard but way more fun so you can risk a status for some hits
I found your channel through the first frontier vid and loved it, and this sequel did not disappoint. you're an expert at making every monster sound like the most badass thing to exist and both vids have gotten me super hopeful that we'll get at least some of them back in the future. keep up the good work man.
As a big fan of MH theme music I must say I love the fact that almost all these monsters have their own unique themes and honestly Frontier has some of the best ones in the Series. Amazing vid by the way I can tell a lot of effort and love was put into this one. Also, I need Shantien so bad. She’d make a phenomenal final update monster I feel like. I also think (it’s highly unlikely) that a remake of Frontier for the 20th anniversary of the series as a game in modern graphics would be awesome!
Frontiers not only got a banger soundtrack, but the fact that’s it’s got music for every difficulty in every map means there’s so much god tier music to pick through
Finally, I can stop rewatching the first one a million times lmao Good shit as always my man, I’m glad your recent videos are getting some eyes on you!!
I'm totally fresh newcomer to MH series (I'm VERY.MUCH. suprised I didn't got earlier since I adore unusual/weird yet neat creature designs!) and this video is A-mazing! Your descriptions and some personal opinions are great to listen to, even if I have to watch this vid during next few days in portions to watch it fully, but I know it will be nothing but pleasure ^^ Also, it's so rare to see creators list songs from bg with links etc. This is outstanding and thanks to you I can quickly(read: before I forget after some chores) vacuum wonderful music and even add some of it to my playlist of ever loved favs ^^b
Dude, this is incredible! I'm so happy to see more Frontier content on youtube, as it's the biggest gap in my MH knowledge. There are guides on setting it up, but I wasn't able to get it running on my Steam Deck, likely due to an error on my part. That might be something to do after watching this... I'm excited to see where you go from here. More Monster Hunter content is always appreciated.
Started playing Frontier a while ago myself on a private server and gotta say this is probably my favorite monster hunter game, really love the weapon styles and ost as well, basically everything about I think most monster fights are awesome. I think my most wanted to return would be Beserk Raviente it’s such a fun engaging siege fight have had so much fun with it even with a lot less players since it’s only on private server and all lol and the Beserk Raviente ost is insanely good definitely my favorite ost ever
Guanzorumu was always a monster that fascinated me, but I never really looked into it much because I could never play Frontier before. But the way you talked about him? It makes me want to see him in a mainline game, a final challenge on top of anything else that's been thrown at us before him. A dragon that has conquered everything in its path before we are tasked to face it, two unstoppable forces made to clash, Hunter and Dragon staring each other down with a level of respect as they engage in a deadly dance that gets ever more desperate and intense with each passing minute, both Hunter and Dragon eventually giving every ounce of what they have and maybe a bit more in a desperate bid to survive the most deadly thing they've ever gone up against. I always loved Fatalis being The Big Boss, *the* final challenge, an ancient grudge brought to bear as modern Hunters are cursed by the sins of their past in the form of the strongest Black Dragon known to the Guild, but the kind of dynamic that Guanzorumu's regality and elegance brings in contrasts to Fatalis' hatred is something I think would be really fun and exciting. You're fighting a monster that sees your strength and respects it, you're not just trying to kill an Elder Dragon, you're fighting a rival that matches their strength to your dedication and determination to fight through the increasing strength that gets thrown at you up until he really takes the fight seriously and needs to kill you to save himself, knowing it's either you dying or him dying. The dance with death that I think a mainline game version of Guanzorumu could bring to the table is something that I will pay for in a heartbeat, all action and demanding you pay attention otherwise you're gonna be a blood smear in two seconds flat. I love his design, his vibe, how he fights, it's awesome and I wanna punch this dragon
I know this video is from 6 months ago, but I've been playing Frontier, and it's been a blast! I love a lot of the monsters from Frontier, and they've taken over my top 10 favorite monsters of all time. I really hope we get more Frontier monsters in future games like Wilds.
It is amazing that you went through with this both part 1 and part 2 round out to be a total of about 6 hours which only talks about the monsters thats not including the awesome mechanics of the AI partners, which made its return in the form of the follower system in Sunbreak. The halks having the systems that they do to give them personallized elemental and status qualities and the skill books giving them more customization. Various cosmetic areas that you can invite other players to or just straight up dine with 10 players in your house, poggies are extremely helpful in this game. Their are carnival like shooting and racing mini games that you can play on top of others I don't remember. Literal PvP compititions where you and another player or players try to see who can put down the monster first and who does the most damage which will then supply points to all hunters at various quantities depending on how they did during the fight. Their is a special companion that does nothing in hunts but adds to the charm of this game and a level of cutness I would have never expected. The Gooku's, correct me on the spelling if im wrong, they are basically little ducks that will periodicly appear in different areas in messaporta and can only be obtained through the Guild Mistress who gives these quests to you. And what can I say about this games Event quests other than "Yep, thats an MMO" peak sillyness in every capacity. All of this to say that covers the meat of this game but under the surface may just impress you even more. For me it is my favorite game in monster hunter and among my favorites of all time hands down no questions asked and while my journey has been slow as molasis it still is something I will remember and will enjoy for the days to come if that happens.
@@cr-volcanic I was honestly waiting for a little side mention of the Halks, since you can see them in every gameplay video you used. My attention was taken away by them, just watching on what they were doing in the fight.
WORTH THE WAIT AND THE REUPLOAD. Its midnight rn of me writing this, just got done watching the video, was here since the rathalos vid, love small content creators like you that impact the fanbase in grand ways. Keep up the work.
You can still play frontier today and after playing it I must say this frontier has probably the most unique designs and gimmicks for monsters in the franchise. I would say my favourite category of monsters would be the burst species as they especially varusbarusu as he looks like a Diablos straight out of hell but it’s funny as the burst species are actually based of household appliances like for example the previously mentioned varusubarusu is a Diablos plus a furnace or oven which is pretty funny to me. But lore wise my favourite are origin species as they are like the prehistoric versions of certain monster such a voljang. Edit: small very cool thing you missed out was that extreme white fatalis erases the Hunter with his electricity
I think you could get away with adapting Inagami to other locations if you just change how the bamboo moves themselves work, just make them not get destroyed after he fires them out and he sort of builds his own arena that he can then use to fuel the other attacks that need it
So I can count how many times I’ve commented on a RUclips video with my fingers but wow, amazing video man! The fact you’re able to fully immerse the viewer in every singe monster deserves mad respect! Hope to see your channel flourish:)
I always really enjoy the appreciation and respect for each monster in your videos!! As always, an excellent video and a showcase of your skills in making videos
Took me a few days but I finally finished the whole video. I really appreciate this one because a lot of the monsters you covered I only had a really surface level impression of and, going off their looks alone, wasn't interested in a lot of them after Baruragaru. Frontier Z was especially bad because I always found the Zenith Monsters to be so... disgusting. In hindsight, I think that they were necessary and PROBABLY paved the way for Deviant Monsters. I 100% agree that those Zenith Blights and Statuses would have been really cool to exist for high level Deviants, especially the EX varities. The Exotic Monsters I thought were really cool, though, because Frontier was always good at amping up already cool monsters. If Frontier survived in time for it, you already know the Fated Four would have gotten in and there's no telling what they would have done with them! Still, the portable series of MH had always had lowkey Frontier vibes and once Espinas joined Sunbreak it wasn't lowkey anymore. I do predict we will be seeing more of Frontier's ideas bleed into the portable series and that some of the monsters probably actually will find their way in given time. ...Very much hoping for Shantien and Baruragaru to join someday.
Would that I were there to see the premiere, alas I was very sick and couldn’t make it. But thankfully it’s back up and I think this can easily be classed as your finest work yet CR. It’s truly been a pleasure.
@@cr-volcanic I’m already feeling a lot better thanks to that segment of Shantien, it was all I needed to validate the best Elder Dragon and then some. Thank you so much for the extra emphasis he received.
What a great video once again! I watched it over the course of a week and it was awesome! Great work! Never thought that I would watch such a long video but it was so damn interesting that I always found the time for it. So excited about your next projects!!! Keep up the amazing work!
Hey man love the videos, always entertaining to hear you talk about stuff you love. Its pretty clear that you love the MH series and man do you do it justice. That said if you ever feel like you're forcing yourself to do these vids its alright to take a break, ive seen a lot of small creators get burned out because they work themselves too hard and get burned out. Again love the vids and am excited to see you grow. ❤️
Ha! Well I appreciate that but don’t worry too much. I try to work reasonable hours, I’ve got a life outside of working on videos, I take my days off here and there and I’ve got a lotta ideas. So for the moment I’m doin just fine.
Just finished it over the past few days. I can tell the amount of love and passion that went into this. The presentation, scriptwriting, just overall effort put in is absolutely ridiculous. Please keep at it and continue making quality mh content. I truly believe you can take this very very far! Amazing work
Finally finished watching this fantastic video. Definitely a good few monsters here I'd like to see make the jump to mainline MH. Congrats on committing to the giant effort it took to make this video too! You're quickly becoming one of the best general MH youtubers imo.
Damn you out alot of effort into this, its really shows. Never played Frontier but always been enamored by it. You know, between the creators that harp on the game for wanting more "grounded" monsters like Unnatural History, its interesting and sorta refreshing to hear someone advocate and praise some of the more wymsical monster in the game. Not to cast shade on anyone, everyone has their own line on what they can take and Frontier definitely long jumps over that lines. While I dont think you could ever make people like Eruzerion, I like you tried. Beats the endless sighing and depression posting. I would like to see alot of these guy's, of course tone them down. If they can do what they did to Espinas for everyone else I'm in. Hes and Flaming quickly become some of my favourite fights. Personal would like to see Duremudira and Bogabadorumu, Baruragaru, Diorekkusu, Guanzoruma, Inagami and Disufiroa. Im very forgiving to Black Dragons and elder dragons to an extent. Duremudira is an unspecified anomaly and the others feel like they could work. Give them a touch up, newer technology to fully realise their potential.
Duremudira looks trippy as hell, I love it, I've always been a sucker for a room that's just all an endless mass of confusing colour, especially that the room tends to it over time.
This is the longest video I have ever watched in its entirety. I was never familiar with the ins and outs of the Frontier roster, but now I'm just as eager as you are for them to make the jump to the main series.
This whole video is fantastic. Hearing you perfectly describe why Guanzorumu is such a fantastic monster shows Frontier at its best. Even if it takes several generations, I hope we'll get to see the glorious emperor take his throne in the main series.
My personal gripe with Merginasu is the Dark element. It's neither dark (in fact it's VERY bright) nor is it utilized in a way you would expect darkness to be. So a visual overhaul and some elemental attacks that would obscure your vision would help with that issue.
Hey there I’m not really sure if you’re going to see this but I just love your videos I can’t play monster hunter because I get to frustrated with it but I just like watching people play it instead and videos like this helps me get through the day because my mom is going through a hard times with cancer so I just wanted to say thank you so much for all the videos
I’ve been listening to this a lot today, started it as I started setting up my pc to play MHFrontier. I definitely look forward to watching more of your videos.
Once again, only you and your *godly* voice and commentary style can make a 4 hour video about the most batshit insane video game ever, watchable. Brilliantly done, and you've absolutely done frontier a good service. I'm glad I finally got to experience this masterpiece. I'm looking forward to more of your content as always!
@@Melkac Personally I really like the whole social aspect of mmos I feel it’s something you can’t really get from other games. After pso2 na ended I’ve been starving for something similar to play. Also as much as I love the mainline Monster Hunter games I am also all for the crazy, flashy and explosiveness that frontier brought to the table, the over the top combat, music and difficulty looks so unique yet right there with what I love from MH
I don't quite remember where I first heard it, but apparently all the burst species are meant to combine a monster with a household appliance, like Zerureusu being Rathalos and a Lamp or Varusaburosu being Diablos and an Oven.
Just imagine the utter insanity that could be a turf war between Midogaron and Primordial Malzeno. Those two just blinking all over the place striking at each other, you would feel like some anime side character watching the main protagonist and antagonist duke it out, not being able to see the full extent of the batlle due to the sheer speed.
I dont think they ever confirmed Harudomerugu's liquid metal is mercury itself, rather mercury like. It is a liquid metal after all and it may of may not even be toxic. I could be wrong tho. But the metal may very well be light and he could very well use it to pull him. Not that far fetched all things considered. Haru is definitely my favorite momster from Frontier. He looks sick, amazing concept for abilties that befits an Elder Dragon, and the fight isnt too insane with the zone wide explosions. And that theme song.
I read mercury in a few places so I assumed it was correct but hey, could be wrong. It is kinda cool to think about how much damage it would do if it was Mercury tho. Shits HEAVY. Imagine getting hit by giant telekinetically backed chunks of it
@cr-volcanic and if it is Mercury even if a hunting party kills him they risk mercury poisoning if they were in prolonged contact with the metal or worse cut but one of his blades
I think the biggest obstacle for Hyujikiki is the fact that we've already got Viper Tobi-Kadachi and Nargacuga. So we've got an ailment weasel and a psuedo-flying wyvern who throws spikes at people. So there's plenty of competition. Still, common skeleton, easy to build, it wouldn't be the highest effort addition.
This was an insane undertaking, great work. EDIT: I ended that article I mentioned beneath the last video by confidently stating that not even Monster Hunter's most obscure monsters could shapeshift like Deoxys... I suggested molding material into more distinct shapes, but there's Mi Ru right there... Guh, I was aiming for monsters that would fit into Wilds, it's fine.
everything about shantien is perfect. when I found out about him some years ago, I fell in love with the design and his themes and ever since then I wanted to see them in one of the games we got in the west
2:12:01 Correct me if I’m wrong, could you just have someone wear a set when fighting Varysaburosu that would make them great at carrying the cactus? Like recovery speed, evasion, evade distance, marathon runner, stamina surge, transporter and others? Have someone set up to just dodge and run with the cactus allowing the others to focus on it.
2nd comment, this time on a specific part of the video: Meraginasu: If it would appear again in the future, reworked in direction you described, I would love to see an environment come to play. There could be parts behind stalagmites where you can hide from incoming unexpected attack of bursting out of wall with rocket jet power, but there are water pools behind it. So, if you use them too often tempted to heal often, it will hear you splashing the water. Plus possible stalactites you can strike down to aid yourself in battle once you aquire specific item to hit them successfully. Also! I think with its drilling horn it would create a spin attack coated in dark element, Creating a trench that sucks the players around like a back hole.
Yeah Meraginasu’s a monster that screams untapped potential to me. As is, he’s a neat take on kind of a Diablos / Espinas hybrid but I feel like he doesn’t really use the things that are supposed to make him special.
A few personal notes on these guys: -My personal romanization for Disufiroa is "Dysphoria". It is defined as "a profound sense of unease or dissatisfaction", which is the least thing you'll feel fighting it. -I always thought Starving Deviljho was a sort of bioweapon created by a rogue faction of the Guild's research division. Why? Because it was, until the very end of Frontier's official life cycle, fought in the Arena.
I´d like a balanced Midogaron very much, you can even make a pseudo-scientific statement for in-game lore purposes that these "teleportations" are just optical illusions, and when the Midogaron moves that fast while enraged it releases a shockwave of intense heat, momentarily creating an air mirror, basically a "fata morgana" of it disappearing.
the idea behind Poborumarumu came from the devs wanting to design a silly monster and decided to make a walking hunting horn. They specifically designed its body to look like a violin when looking at it from the top down.
For some ungodly reason I went through both of your Frontier monster videos and ranked them all myself. It took way too much time lol. “1” is reserved for monsters that I feel have nothing worthwhile to offer. So even if a monster’s design makes me want to tear my eyes out, it still wont be put under “1” for that alone. 10: Pariapuria, Gogomoa, Taikun Zamuza, Pokaradon, Barlagual, Forokururu 9: Akura Vashimu/Jebia, Kamu/Nono Orugaron, Midogaron, Poborumarumu, Voljang 8: Gurenzeburu, Farunokku, Hyujikiki, Harudomerugu, Gasurabazura, Toa Tesukatora, Guanzorumu, Zenaserisu, Keoaruboru 7: Hypnocotrice, Berukyurosu, Laviente, Odibatorasu, Shantien, Ray/Lolo Gougar, Giaorugu, Anorupatisu, Inagami 6: Doragyurosu, Espinas, Abiorugu, Yama Kurai, Toridcless 5: Rukodiora, Mi Ru, Rebidiora, Duremudira, Bogabadorumu 4: Lavasioth, Dhuragaua, Unknown, Disufiroa, Gureadomosu 3: Meraginasu 2: Zerureusu, Diorex, Garuba Daora, Varusaburosu, Eruzerion 1: Aruganosu/Goruganosu
I put Unknown so low because, as cool as the concept of a mysterious monster with bottomless power, I can’t get behind the design. To me it feels like something a 13 year old would’ve come up with, “a rathian, but all black and red and super angry all the time! Oh, and is also the most powerful ever!!” It’s just a little too edgy for me. Oh, and I put the gold/silver fish because the lack of ecology frustrate me more than interest me. They don’t feel real, and imo should’ve been relegated to a goofy event quest or something. I also put Espinas’ burst species one rank higher than the others because, while I still hate its design, I like its mechanics and ecology a lot more. Edit: I’ve got a whole bunch of other notes too but they’d probably be too much to list in a RUclips comment. The only other thing I wanted to add was that Pokaradon was originally going to get a 9, but that baby seal you showed bumped it up to a 10 lol.
3:52:10 Under the term and meaning "exotic," yeah it's probably not going to happen, but from waht I understand (I'm pretty sure I got this off a comment theory) is that the exotic's are essentially the results of natural selection via competition/surviving the crazy monsttrosities in the Frontier, the literal best of their kind without becoming a different version. So maybe something to implement for the later game stronger variants. And from what I understand they have reversed it. For ex(& supporting my point of later game stuff), I remember Rage & Cotton mentioning they saw stuff in Frontier Brachy that went into/echoes of what would be World Raging Brachy, and there'a the more recent example with Sunbreak Amatsu's 2nd form.
so i've now learned that he kind of did get in main series in the form of magnamalo, as magnamalo takes most of it's animations from eruzerion, down to the way it tilts it's head when looking at the hunter
I finding this vid in my recommended every now and then. Goes to show ya did a good job, keep it up. Also imagine if Poborubarumu and Qurupeco were in MHWilds and had a turf war.
Ah yes, Poborubarumu, the Hunting Horn with legs. For me a complete 10/10 and he would be an excellent pick to put in the Coral Highlands ecosystem (albeit a new map design would be in order, as the current Coral Highlands just can't fit such an enormous monster). Also, a little interesting tidbit, with him and the other 3 giant flightless flying wyverns, they all basically represent the four elements in some capacity (fire: Akantor, water/ice: Ukanlos, earth: Odibatorasu, air: Poborubarumu).
I’m just going to say it. Conquest War Crimson Fatalis is the only monster from Frontier that I feel outright should replace the mainline version completely. Better design, the best theme in the series, and a far more compelling and engaging battle.
@@cr-volcanic I can respect that.👍 For me it’s not too much, but I can definitely understand where you come from where it makes the head a bit busy with the horns.
I really enjoyed this video like I enjoyed the last one. But when Fatalis's music started to play, my mind was racing back to this theme I'd played on RUclips so many times. Then the big, bad, daddy longneck himself graced the screen and you said, "Did you really think I forgot about him?" That was such an amazing moment.
Yeah I kinda regret panic taking it down. And if this ever happens again I’ll be less impulsive with dealing with claims. I got fuckin spooked when I saw it
@@cr-volcanic Understandable; you're just starting your career. No RUclipsr needs that happening to them so early, especially these days. I hope the video still gains traction! (Also, you should capitalize "Monsters" in the title.)
For Harudom, what he does with the mercury is use precision taps to detonate it, which allows him to fly (in theory). If the mercury is mercury II fulminate, which I think it is, then it is highly sensitive to heat, electricity, shock, and friction. It's not strong enough to cause damage on its own usually, so it's primarily used as a primary explosion for other explosives, like how TNT in Minecraft makes other TNT's explode. So I think the monster causes multiple small detonations that propel it through the air. And though it is heavy, in it's liquid state it might perhaps be able to be directed in like a canon like shape that can launch the dragon in a certain direction
so i was watching frontier weapon moveset videos and i realized that sunbreak weapons actually have stronger movesets than their frontier weapons (aside from switch axe). more mobility, more counters, stronger counters, etc. my point here is that, if another game has similar weapon movesets to sunbreak, even fights like the musous would be beatable without getting changed.
2:19:09 So this thing probably uses its ability to manipulate Mercury to make its wing move with such force that lets it kinda fly. Or it just does the Sims thing.
I say Shantien need to be added like he can be another Valtrax but his job could be as a balancer of Higher up where he only show up to deliver a devestating blow to monster if they try to ruined the flow of nature or if something to try to defend his land
You made a mistake at 4:03:30 . Zenith Rukodiora's Zenith part are his wings, not the horns. Also, Zenith Gasurabasura's Zenith part are his hands/claws. Furthermore, Gravios' is his belly AND back, but both count towards the same break. Additionally, Zenith Akura Vashimu's part is the entire tail. You essentially do surgery on him (break both claws and the head twice. after one of these is broken twice, he flips. do that 3 times and on the third time repeatedly hit the tail for it to come loose) to get the zenith part. Carving isn't necessary but can hold rare items, it has 2 carves on the tail; one on the main part of the tail and one on the crystal. Finally, though not entirely worth mentioning, the tongue is just a weaker part on Zenith Baruragaru with a better hitzone towards the partbreak, but the entire head counts towards the zenith partbreak as a hitzone. Edit: Zenith Midogaron's forelegs are the zenith part, not the mane.
Frontier devs making crystal ailment:
“what if we COMBINED the stench and blast ailments?”
“What an incredible idea!”
*clapping around the room*
“AND it reduced stamina too?”
*wild cheering around the room*
It’s disgusting and I love it
To make it short :
Dev: What if we ......make our players suffer even more
The room : "Thunderous claps"
I said this before the video got claimed but I'll say it again, for someone that has just started this you're amazing at script righting and making every monster sound cool and unique, I hope to see you improve as your channel grows.
To keep improving is absolutely the goal
It like listening to a hunter from the frontier tells us new hunters a myth, a fight beyond our wildest dreams, to then realize that all these fights aren't myths at all
he is dope
I found out during the premiere that shantien controls my weather
Lol that was fun
It happened to me on the same day when Amastu was revealed for sunbreak
@@JanusHoW
Could stomach acid be considered an organic solvent? I would’ve gone with sweat, but I get the feeling that the ability to sweat is actually quite rare in that world.
@@twilitlloyd7167its not something that haru has a problem with but sweating of some sort could be quite common in monsters that need to thermoregulate and manage huge amounts of heat they make or to maintain body temp with ice based monsters
As someone who was able to play frontier since 2013. You did an amazing job representing it.
An insane amount of effort went into this.

A fun thing about Zenith Hyujikiki is that those ridiculously gigantic blade spikes aren't just for show, he can LITERALLY impale you with them. Not just the usual boom you get damaged type of impaling, actual "oh shit I have a giant spike protruding out of my torso" impaling.
and it can actually kill you quite fast owo like.. you got 30 seconds before "bleeding out" if i remember correctly. much like khezu zenith, his thunder fkn up your heart xD

damn frontier has really cool brute wyverns. I love dinosaur-like brute wyverns like Anjanath, so I'd love to see these guys come in
Say what you will about how absurd Frontier got but it definitely opened the gateway for some of the mainline's more outlandish designs, I mean we went from mostly standard wyvern faire to supersonic jet dragons, alien larval dragons, vampire/fallen paladin dragons, icy reptilians werewolves, giant earth apes, etc.
Some people I think VASTLY underestimate how much mainline learned and evolved from Frontier. There is a notable amount of attacks and skills and mechanics in the games now that you can date back to Frontier
Definitely, but I do think it might've been a little bit of a stepping stone for mainline MH to start pushing monster designs@@cr-volcanic

Haha! Helluva compliment! Glad you enjoyed
Holy...
So glad you enjoyed!
@@cr-volcanic How could I not enjoy it?!
Though I have to say I felt a bit dizzy afterwards XD
Late, so in the original lore Duremudira was effectively a flesh golem?
@@TheGraveKnightin a way yea. It’s pointed out that Duremedira is unnaturally muscular for what it is, leading that as credence that it isn’t a monster that naturally adapted, but was manufactured.
I think I know why that retcon happened (humans creating artificial dragons is a bit outside the realm of reasonability for this series) but it’s still interesting nonetheless
It was created by an ancient civilization, there are multiple ones and not just one
@@elliottdecastro Yeah, but that sadly got retconned.
first time I heard people dont like status oriented monsters when they are my favorite kind of monster

I found your channel through the first frontier vid and loved it, and this sequel did not disappoint. you're an expert at making every monster sound like the most badass thing to exist and both vids have gotten me super hopeful that we'll get at least some of them back in the future. keep up the good work man.
Ha! well, that's exactly what I was going for, glad that came through
As a big fan of MH theme music I must say I love the fact that almost all these monsters have their own unique themes and honestly Frontier has some of the best ones in the Series.

Fun fact about midugaron in the story quest you first fight him he is programmed to attack the person who posted the quest more often then others
Loved these videos about frontier
A nice and proper showcase of all these cool monsters you nailed it
Thank you!
Monsters are def my favorite part of Monster Hunter so I wanted to give them their time in the sun, but yeah Frontiers got a ton of cool stuff
@@cr-volcanic I was honestly waiting for a little side mention of the Halks, since you can see them in every gameplay video you used.

Hope to keep leaving a good impact
I have tend to try and play Frontier for myself when I get a better computer
@@cr-volcanic it's based on dos and ran on the Wii U so I think you should be fine, unless you have some software issues we don't know about.
I think you could get away with adapting Inagami to other locations if you just change how the bamboo moves themselves work, just make them not get destroyed after he fires them out and he sort of builds his own arena that he can then use to fuel the other attacks that need it
Fair he probably could be modified
So I can count how many times I’ve commented on a RUclips video with my fingers but wow, amazing video man! The fact you’re able to fully immerse the viewer in every singe monster deserves mad respect! Hope to see your channel flourish:)

Finished the video and kudos for making a 4+ hour video be this fun to sit through! love your work, keep up the effort

Very happy to hear that. Gonna keep striving to get as good as I can at this
Damn you out alot of effort into this, its really shows.
This is a very high quality and awesome video. Great job!

This whole video is fantastic. Hearing you perfectly describe why Guanzorumu is such a fantastic monster shows Frontier at its best. Even if it takes several generations, I hope we'll get to see the glorious emperor take his throne in the main series.
Capcoms gotta know that everybody loves guan
Really appreciate how you let the themes for the monsters play out a bit.

Ha! I dunno about godly, but I’m learnin how to use my voice better
I really hope that Capcom doesn’t give up at the idea of another MH mmo
I agree
Why? There’s no point to it
They’re kinda makin mmo lites with modern MH. Idk if they’d ever make a full blown MMO, might be content with just the regular content flow.
Doubt it, MMO is a dying genre, I don't think we will ever see them do it again.
I don't quite remember where I first heard it, but apparently all the burst species are meant to combine a monster with a household appliance, like Zerureusu being Rathalos and a Lamp or Varusaburosu being Diablos and an Oven.
I’ve heard that as well but don’t know all the examples
Varusaburosu is such a beautiful blos, it looks like a butterfly

Yeah man, I aint got beef with big bird
3:48:53 i never thought i'd hear such a sentence be uttered in a youtube video but i kinda agree with the given context
@@sacred944 lmao imagine you beat Harudo, come back to base, and your Hunter just keels over dead from mercury poisoning
I love how most of your wishes if they returned are "Make it a bit more extreme next time, okay?"
Thank you very much!
everything about shantien is perfect. when I found out about him some years ago, I fell in love with the design and his themes and ever since then I wanted to see them in one of the games we got in the west
He’s definitely one of the best MH creations out there
2:12:01 Correct me if I’m wrong, could you just have someone wear a set when fighting Varysaburosu that would make them great at carrying the cactus? Like recovery speed, evasion, evade distance, marathon runner, stamina surge, transporter and others?
Have someone set up to just dodge and run with the cactus allowing the others to focus on it.
2nd comment, this time on a specific part of the video:
Meraginasu: If it would appear again in the future, reworked in direction you described,
I would love to see an environment come to play. There could be parts behind stalagmites
where you can hide from incoming unexpected attack of bursting out of wall
with rocket jet power, but there are water pools behind it. So, if you use them too often
tempted to heal often, it will hear you splashing the water.
Plus possible stalactites you can strike down to aid yourself in battle
once you aquire specific item to hit them successfully.
Also! I think with its drilling horn it would create a spin attack coated in dark element,
Creating a trench that sucks the players around like a back hole.
Yeah Meraginasu’s a monster that screams untapped potential to me. As is, he’s a neat take on kind of a Diablos / Espinas hybrid but I feel like he doesn’t really use the things that are supposed to make him special.
A few personal notes on these guys:
-My personal romanization for Disufiroa is "Dysphoria".
I´d like a balanced Midogaron very much, you can even make a pseudo-scientific statement for in-game lore purposes that these "teleportations" are just optical illusions, and when the Midogaron moves that fast while enraged it releases a shockwave of intense heat, momentarily creating an air mirror, basically a "fata morgana" of it disappearing.
could be a cool way to explain it
the idea behind Poborumarumu came from the devs wanting to design a silly monster and decided to make a walking hunting horn. They specifically designed its body to look like a violin when looking at it from the top down.
YO, just found this video, love how the Frontier scene is still thriving well! Gonna have to do some more Frontier hunts now, great stuff overall! 👍
Appreciate it!
Aw I missed the premiere but I can't wait to see how you presented them all :)
Inagami's theme sent me into another dimension, was not expecting it to go that hard but damn
Gasurabazura reminds me of Almudron a bit. He's got that weasel/otter look about him.
Fucking Banger Video
We love to see it Volcanic
For some ungodly reason I went through both of your Frontier monster videos and ranked them all myself. It took way too much time lol.
“1” is reserved for monsters that I feel have nothing worthwhile to offer. So even if a monster’s design makes me want to tear my eyes out, it still wont be put under “1” for that alone.
10: Pariapuria, Gogomoa, Taikun Zamuza, Pokaradon, Barlagual, Forokururu
9: Akura Vashimu/Jebia, Kamu/Nono Orugaron, Midogaron, Poborumarumu, Voljang
8: Gurenzeburu, Farunokku, Hyujikiki, Harudomerugu, Gasurabazura, Toa Tesukatora, Guanzorumu, Zenaserisu, Keoaruboru
7: Hypnocotrice, Berukyurosu, Laviente, Odibatorasu, Shantien, Ray/Lolo Gougar, Giaorugu, Anorupatisu, Inagami
6: Doragyurosu, Espinas, Abiorugu, Yama Kurai, Toridcless
5: Rukodiora, Mi Ru, Rebidiora, Duremudira, Bogabadorumu
4: Lavasioth, Dhuragaua, Unknown, Disufiroa, Gureadomosu
3: Meraginasu
2: Zerureusu, Diorex, Garuba Daora, Varusaburosu, Eruzerion
1: Aruganosu/Goruganosu
For ex(& supporting my point of later game stuff), I remember Rage & Cotton mentioning they saw stuff in Frontier Brachy that went into/echoes of what would be World Raging Brachy, and there'a the more recent example with Sunbreak Amatsu's 2nd form.
i honestly love everything about eruzerion and would love to see him in main series
I’d definitely be down for him gettin another chance
so i've now learned that he kind of did get in main series in the form of magnamalo, as magnamalo takes most of it's animations from eruzerion, down to the way it tilts it's head when looking at the hunter
You should definitely make a video about the weapons of frontier! Great video man
I finding this vid in my recommended every now and then. Goes to show ya did a good job, keep it up.
Also imagine if Poborubarumu and Qurupeco were in MHWilds and had a turf war.
this video has inspired me to figure out how to run frontier on my modern day pc.
So exited to watch
Enjoy!
If nothing else I hope that at least that some of these fight gimmicks return they seem quite interesting
Only thing I’d say I disagree on is the design. I don’t hate the big extra horn but I don’t love it more than the twin horns
@@cr-volcanic I can respect that.👍
For me it’s not too much, but I can definitely understand where you come from where it makes the head a bit busy with the horns.
Honey! WAKE UP! CR-Volcanic UPLOADED ANOTHER FU**KING BNAGER VIDEO! 4 HOURS LONG! HELL YEAH!
Enjoy!
@@cr-volcanic thank you for these great videos!
@@xeno991Thanks for watching!
I am in need of the MH Online video now, I am very excited to see it when it comes out.
Not my next video but the next in THIS series. Should be put before the end of the year by my current estimate.
It’s like a village ecologist is giving me the rundown this is so cool
lol glad ya like it
I really enjoyed this video like I enjoyed the last one. But when Fatalis's music started to play, my mind was racing back to this theme I'd played on RUclips so many times. Then the big, bad, daddy longneck himself graced the screen and you said, "Did you really think I forgot about him?"
That was such an amazing moment.
I'm glad this video is back...but I'm also salty because the live chat from the premiere is gone forever.
The storm dragon: *pic of Amatsu*
The cooler storm dragon: *pic of Shantien*
I high key don’t know which I prefer
THE WAIT IS OVER! IM GOING TO ENJOY THIS SOOOO MUCH!!
Enjoy!
DANG! nice video! this is well done! you should make a video about what monster from Frontier they should add on Wilds!!
Have some ideas kinda like that cookin
i hope none most of them really dont fit the Tone
so i was watching frontier weapon moveset videos and i realized that sunbreak weapons actually have stronger movesets than their frontier weapons (aside from switch axe). more mobility, more counters, stronger counters, etc. my point here is that, if another game has similar weapon movesets to sunbreak, even fights like the musous would be beatable without getting changed.
That saxophone for Toridcless’s theme is awesome
And it's back
You made a mistake at 4:03:30 .
