The Promised Land of XBLA is here.
I never thought that game would ever be rescued from Nintendo
This is very exciting!
@Most Dope Forever X Box Live Arcade basically small/remake/indie games at cheap price, you could develop games for such platform using XNA Game Studio, the program was dropped upon the launch of the xbox one but the games can still be purchased and downloaded
@Most Dope Forever You can't purchase THIS game. You can play it on a modded xbox360 or using the Xenia Canary emulator on a PC. Download it from archive . org
@Most Dope Forever That's basically the normal "Xbox store" where they were. If you mean where this Goldeneye can be bough, answer is nowhere. That would involve hacking console and doing some "underground" searching.
I'll never get sick of stuff like this.
Mr Riggs in the house! 🔥

Of all Leaks over the history, this might be 1 of the holy grails of Video game leaks
It doesn't matter if it was a leak or not. It never came out.
We got beta OoT and castlevania resurrection and starcraft ghost in the last few months too. It's been a damn good year for at least one thing.
this is how 10 year old me remembered the game looking.
Yes, I agree...
them old scanlines were so magical back then
LOL defs not... but these style of remakes, perfect dark, OoT and MM 3ds are far more true to the spirit of the game then any wack ass unreal engine version

A remaster coming back to life that's older now than the original was at the time of remastering.
I love that it has the graphic switch thing that Halo 1 and 2 Anniversary have!
I hate it cause it's a waste of RAM. The remaster could have looked a better without it.
@@NeoTechni What were you expecting from just a 2007 remaster exactly?
@@mangenkyo Especially from an early XBLA game with the size limitations.
@@NeoTechni The original Goldeneye rom was 12 MB. The N64 has 4 MB of RAM without the expansion pack which Goldeneye did not use. The Xbox 360 has 512 MB RAM. Loading the original's assets alongside the new assets is a negligible amount of extra RAM cost. Don't just jump in trying to be contrarian if you haven't actually thought about what you're arguing.
@@ryrin6091 that's still a waste of RAM even if it was 1 megabyte. I'm not being contrarian, I felt the same way about Halo's remaster. Don't be an ass, that's how you get blocked.
now imagine if there was an unreleased Timesplitters HD collection, that would be heaven's gift
No
Perfect dark too and let speed running commence
boy i can't tell you how bad am i waiting for rewind to release, wish they could've released an hd version back in the day, i would have played it to death.
You'd think Sony would have maybe bought the rights to that franchise because it would sell PS5 that's for sure if they did a remake of the series as well as a new one
Yes
I remember buying goldeneye at toys r us in 97 🤣
I remember waking up in bed and dad comes in my room and said “do you want to get goldeneye?”
I remember getting this and I was still stuck in the bathroom when the game starts, all those Russian soldiers were running up to me and I was scared 😨
We can only hope that the warm reception will finally force goldeneye out of copyright jail.
sure. nintendo laugh at you :D EDIT: not this time!
@@nattila7713 it has nothing to do with nintendo.
The main issue has actually been the restrictions that MGM imposed on Bond video game licences after Goldeneyes success
@@amorathecat Nintendo has a fairly large role in this.
@@raumfahreturschutze No they don't. MGM were the ones who cancelled it because they wanted the game to be heavily censored to their new standards. Even though after GoldenEye sold well, MGM wanted there to be no blood in new Bond games, didn't want to be able to see Bond die in new Bond games, didn't want you to be able to kill civilians, good guys couldn't kill good guys in multiplayer, and they wanted new Bond games to use the current Bond actor. The censors were used in games like The World is Not Enough, Agent Under Fire, and Nightfire where there is no blood, no death camera when Bond dies, killing a civilian instantly fails and restarts the mission, and you can only have one good guy in multiplayer if it isn't a team game. Potentially re-releasing this game in 2007 after MGM wanted censors would require changing a bit of code around instead of just updating the graphics and models of everything so rare just remastered Perfect Dark instead. They tried again with MGM in 2015 to release GoldenEye with Rare Replay but MGM didn't allow it. This is all from an insider and repeated from prominent GoldenEye RUclipsr named Graslu00
Just get it officially released. It will sell like hotcakes just for nostalgia reason. 4 player splitscreen is awesome.
Imagine they actually put effort into it and allow up to 8 players in lan or online
That will be up to the original film producers to allow it. They haven’t been kind about the Bond video game license of the old games. The new AO interactive game was lucky and fortunate to be the first Bond game greenlit in 8 years!
@@KetwunsGamingPad True, but this is also Microsoft trying to release the game. If they *really* wanted to put their effort (and money) into it, they could probably pull it off.
Games just being pulled because of license debacles is just always so lame :(
Great we can enjoy a wonderful remake!
You would think greed and TONS of millions of dollars would let them release it. Everyone gets paid a lot, everyone happy. A Goldeneye remake just this as is with online would make MILLIONS day one download.
@@TeamRocketHQR Sadly some people want clout more than money after they become what they consider rich and so they shift from greed to needlessly throwing their weight around.
Also many corporate stooges do tons of things that are bad for the company because they are making some sort of lame office politics play. "I can't let this goldeneye remake work because thats Jeff's idea and if it makes MGM a ton of money he'll get the promotion".
@@Pianet Some people and companies are just proud of what they do and make, some others only think about the fancy car they are gonna buy next.
I mean I get that a company at least don't want to loose money on such a project, but it's not to hard to just break-even or like you said even make some profit from it.
It the end it's probably one of these lame cases just only out of principle reasons.
There are quite some games locked in the freezer for good for the same license reasons. basically abandoned until somebody else touches it.
Quite a destructive approach, even just to these companies themselves.
This is why we can't have nice things. If I can't make money, you can't either. This is why we don't have a DK64 remake.
It all comes down to $$$ GREED
Imagine if this had released on Rare Replay
I would have died
They trying o do that now
@@TrSavage-yi1jv
Huh?
It likely would have if these companies especially MGM would get their head out of their asses.

1:32 dude look at them fucking MOUNTAINS. This looks fantastic!!!
I noticed that too they look amazing
I assumed Bean was a nod to Mr Bean, him being another british pop culture icon, and they used this as a joke until the Bond IP was cleared.
He also played in a bond parody-style movie. Johnny English!
could very well be, im only guessing
I was thinking of the same thing. That would make more scenes as Rare are British developers from the United Kingdom.
I thought it was a reference to Sean Bean, the actor who played Bond's nemesis...

All these years and it was sitting completed all along... Wonder what's next!!! Amazing stuff!
We already knew it was completed? Well complete for the first few levels at least. Not that that this one is fully complete. Apparently enemies have the same accuracy for all difficulties.

Update: another Rare lost gem, Dinosaur Planet for n64 has been leaked with a December 2000 playable build. Game is practically finished and can be completed albeit with some bugs here and there. Looks magnificent on emulators and Everdrive. Look forward to your discussion on that MVG! The game was meant to be pushing the hardware to the Max with high quality textures and voice acting, and it really shows with frame rate fluctuations, common in hardware pushing games in that era!
Sounds interesting! Hopefully Duke Nukem Forever builds leak one day
Dinosaur Planet isn't "practically finished". The prototype softlocks at the true Final Boss, the mighty Krazoa God (at least that what he was called in Star Fox Adventures before he revealed himself as Andross). You can't defeat him, but he can't hurt you either, so it's a stalemate and you can't get the ending.

One of the best games that threw me into the world of gaming. Glad I got to experience it all those years ago on N64.
Man, I wish the version that is now on Game Pass had the option to use these updated textures and fonts.
Code name bean was actually an ode to Mr. Bean one of the more humorous bonus characters you could unlock in the original N64 version of the game.
This was my favorite game as a kid. Hopefully will be able to try it
I played it all last night, it is such a beautiful nostalgia trip. It looks and feels just like how you remember it 22 years ago.

I got my hands on this and it's great I've never play James Bond goldeneye this well before.
Man Christmas came early this year. First there was that Zelda OOT beta found in a re-flashed F-Zero N64 cartridge. And now, the full beta ROM for Goldeneye 64 HD Remaster has FINALLY been (unofficially) released to the public.

The toggling between old and new textures on the fly is a feature that i absolutely adore. I think every remaster needs it.
All this licensing sh*t in the entertainment industry is like a f**king tragic custody fight. Publishers, f**k that extra ten million dollars in royalties and make the world a little more of a happy place. This year we could definetely need that remastered multiplayer for nostalgia and escapism 😔
They're businesses. Money makes them
The game still rocks, and the remaster looks really good even today.
with the recent beta Zelda 64 leak and now GE XBLA, this gives me hope the cancelled Star Wars Rogue Leaders trilogy that was headed for the Wii finds it's way online too.
OH YES!
It's so funny this version is still superior to the one is being released in Switch and Xbox consoles today!
I totally understand if in the Switch, since it's emulating the N64 game, but the XBOX version should be this one or at least it should be an option on case you don't want to play the N64 version.
Nintendo wouldn't want that since they got the inferior version
I guarantee it was in the contract that Xbox couldn’t use this version because it absolutely shts on the original.

700MB seems huge yeah, wasn't a N64 cartridge under 100MB or something around those lines? Textures look absolutely futuristic for '96 so I suppose that's where most of the data (and effort) went?
