An update for TF2 was released again, including the Zombie Infection mode. They made changes, for example, in the Zombie Soldier, he no longer kills you with a single stomp, as he did before... but still, I greatly appreciate your work (And that of Pizza Tower too!).
Despite the unexpected update debunking the last video, its was still a blast being able to reprise my role as Engi again. I hope you all enjoyed my and Lingulini's performance, and best of luck to you all out there!!🤠
@@carrottoe1867 To give a basic summary, Soldier with their leap ability is similar to the Hunter's method of attacking survivors in Left 4 Dead, Sniper's ability is similar to the Spitter in Left 4 Dead 2 including the dropped acid on death and the Heavy's ability literally being called "The Tank" pretty much means they're meant to be drawing everyone's fire to bring them down similar to the Tank in Left 4 Dead, all eyes need to be focused on the Tank otherwise things might get a bit messy. If Valve REALLY wanted to go down the route of making this a makeshift Left 4 Dead thing, they would need to work some magic to transfer the other special infected abilities to the mode, such as the Smoker's tongue to lasso survivors away from groups, Boomer's bile to blind survivors, etc.
Some of the zombies are also references to Left 4 Dead too, with the Soldier being the Hunter, the Demoman being the Charger, the Pyro being the Boomer, the Heavy being the Tank, and the Sniper being the Spitter.
@@HankJWimbleton-v1m honestly i don't think the heavy or demo are l4d references. and the pyro blowing up into fire is more of a recent thing. the demo charging and blowing up is a lot more tf2 inspired (especially cause the caber) and idk if doubled max hp can cunt as l4d tank reference other than that huge knock back he can't throw rocks.
One time on Murky map, we had "Crazy Soldier" player. Before the round had started, he played PvZ main theme, and then Crazy Dave's mumbling. When the round had started, zombie heavy managed to kill the unlucky guy, he played Dave's "NOOOOOOOOOO" sound clip. When he had joined the zombies team, he played zombie's "Braaainss" sound clip, and then kept playing one of the level themes from PvZ for the rest of the round. Lots of lols were had on the server lmao

It will stay in TF2, there's no reason for them to remove it, but it will most likely be seasonal, since it's already Halloween themed gamemode. VSH is also permanent - it's just in the "Misc" section of map list (scroll down to find it)

Zombie is supposed to be just strong and healthy enough that survivors can still quickly kill and then move on to another target because if it longer it would be a one size zombie stomp if there are at least 8 zombie and they only need a Zombie Heavy and Zombie medic combo to draw enough attention for the other to rush in. The balance is that the survivors should have the strength upperhand but not the number because the zombie can respawn and throw body at the defend till the survivors fall. The only reason zombie seems to lose the majority before this is because of Spit from Zombie Sniper doesn't damage building, and the starting zombies is too small where 3 isn't enough. Like, the only thing they really needed to fix is making the Zombie Sniper spit deal damage to building and more zombie spawn at the start with maybe a starting speed boost so they can run into the fight again everything else was balance. Now human got hit with reverse psychology and always group up, so making the early infection harder and almost impossible to push into a defend unless the map is shit which most of them are.
Engi : "Beware the smell of France ! It might save your life !" Additional effect : when a Spy is nearby, a picture of a croissant 🥐 appears in the upleft corner of your screen. The closer he gets, the clearer the picture becomes (applies to both human and zombie Spies, you gonna love them even more)
I love that there are so much love to these new modes, they could just slap the mode in, fix a bit and call it the day, but no, they balance, fix and rework on things around the mode. I love it. To the community and team who work on the game rn, I salute you.

The voice acting and lore update is always such a delightful treat. I have some gripes about some of the balances, but it's such a fun mode, and the community never disappoints.
The way the video was presented was beautiful! I could imagine that the medic and engineer being the most logically scientific and medical professionals to delve into the topic of zombified mercs into such detail, very well made!
This voice acting is incredible! Hat's off to both voice actors and scripters for making balance changes not just interesting, but actually genuinely very fun to watch!

Welp this mode went from "Demoknight and engineer OP" to "zombies overpower humans no matter what". Hell despite what the patch notes said about "not affecting roaming" for humans it did affect it to the point where you're discouraged to not base with everyone else. Anywho, good quality video man.
I played this mode in the vry beginning and tbh I prefer the new updates, actually makes it fun to play as zombies and terrifying but still fun to play as humans, unlike previously
Yeah, like I think some of the nerf to sentries were a bit munch. Like I do like the sniper spit does damage to building and buff the sapper bomb, but I think the sentry damage should be 50% and heavy zombie is little too good. Like heavy was already good to take down sentries(high hp and one shot sentry)
I really enjoy the idea of explaining weapon reworks or additions in Character/in universe. Would love to see it for a major update that adds new weapons... if we even get another one of those
about the pvz reference, i actually once had almost an entire team of engies set up a PVZ lawn in the devestation map, right outside the room with the vent on the bottom floor

Using medic as the framing for the video as a research log is a great idea. We see this as a very common trope in zombie media. A scientist researching the infection, though while most are looking to cure it. I think the Medic would want to keep it going because it’s so damn interesting to study

They might as well have just replaced the Sentrys with actual Peashooters, repeaters, and threepeaters respectively considering how minuscule there damage is now. Can you even get a kill with a sentry now? Glad shotguns still work, guess we filled them with bombs or something.

I think Spy being able to attack before uncloaking is a total oversight. It might seem worse for the actual zombie to have to use melee first to uncloak but it’s more fair to the humans. It gives the humans a chance to respond first if they aren’t paying attention.
Nah, Spy needs that otherwise he's worse than every other class. His reveal ability is next to useless anyway, as everyone knows where the survivors are holding up. It's only useful against a Scout that's running around the map or someone that's hiding. Plus, he doesn't 1 hit kill you. If he had to decloak first, he wouldn't be able to do anything to players camping by a sentry. On top of that, you can still see him while he's cloaked. Players still have full advantage against the Spy.
This is sooo cool the way your guys show your work in the new mod as lore is super nice to be real here i was not a big fan of the zombi infection mode ik the start but this buffs look very good to make the mod more balanced can't wait ti check it out keep up the good work :D(also brazillian representation lets goooo irmaos br!!!!!!)
Making the zombie team actually fun is a big win for both sides of the gamemode. Adds more than rush in or hold a certain cheese spot and overwhelming firepower
Btw a few things about bugs and changes; Bugs; -Sound for what ever reason is cut out after a few rounds but only for a few sounds. Things like the lightning strike and more important spies decloaking simply don't make sounds -If the game is over and a zombie changes classes, they'll spawn on the red team, which is pretty harmless -If you leave Zombie Infection, go to a new server, and join blue, the icons for Zombies will be there instead -The Vodo cosmetic that appears on each map should at least be hidden if it's a bug. changes I thing vast majority of people would like -Highlight the last survivor always. No one wants to spam Spy at the end to find one guy. It's a huge waste of everyone's time because they usually are found anyways -Give Zombie Spy and Engineer some new niche. I didn't know the particle effects on Spy were intentional, which frankly makes his invisibly completely useless outside of finding the last survivor. He can reveal Spies but human spies have shitty disguises too since they look like Blu humans. Engineer is also nearly 100% useless if not detrimental. You can literally just go Sniper to do 100% Engineer's thing but better. Not to mention using Heavy or Demo to take down Sentries. -Speaking of Sentries, Sniper should be able to do direct damage to them with his spit. It's kind of annoying that you don't even get an acid pool if you accidentally hit the Sentry instead of near it. -NERF Baby Face Blaster, Sticky Jumper, and Rocket Jumper. Yeah you can use to get them as counterplay, but its ridiculously annoying AND it also screws over the humans too. Some douche will run away the entire game and not contribute anything, making it so rest of the humans have 1 less human helping them.
A Heavy Tip: You are painfully slow, but you can use pumpkin bombs and explosive barrels to your advantage. Nobody expects an infected tank to be launched at them like a rocket jumping soldier. This can also be used to instantly travel to higher floors (Sanitarium for example) I launched myself into a sentry nest and destroyed 3 sentries, 2 dispensers and a few players in one life. I doubt that will happen again but it felt amazing to do. 😅 Medic can explosive jump too, and even avoids the damage during his brief Uber.
I like the little reference to plants vs. zombies at 5:50, just somewhat makes you think that in that universe plants vs. zombies was made in the 1970s

Just gotta mention, other game devs have pointed out the problem in both nerfing a strong play style while also buffing it’s counterpart; nerfing sentries while buffing anti-building abilities might be too heavy handed.

Ya, zombies are to op now. Heavy needs to not be immune to some/all crits. It makes the last few survivor's crits literally meaningless. Also, sniper was powerful being able to insta kill all the zombies in one shot with some skill. I felt it was necessary, since otherwise there isn't really a reason to play sniper. Demo also needs to not get uber when charging his blast charge. It makes it so demo's don't have to think about what they are doing, since if they die during the charge itself they will still blow up. Making it so that they don't get uber means that they can't just walk up and then start the charge when they have 1 hp and still kill people.
The problem I have with spy zombies is that I can basically see them just the same as anybody else. I can lay tomislav fire on those glowing eyes from far enough away that the invisibility barely concerns me
Scout as the Jockey,Soldier as the Hunter,Heavy as the Tank,Pyro as the Boomer,Engineer as the Smoker,Sniper as the Spitter,Demo as the Charger and lastly Spy also as the Witch but the same as the Hunter as well? Cause blending in with environment seems like his things as well among the infected to get people lower their guard and attack when the time right
Pyro Zombie has been pretty decent. Melee sets enemies on fire. Doesn't seem like much. But on death you set enemies ablaze and they get covered in a gas passer cloud. So you can explosive jump into enemies and kill bind to set a crowd of survivors on fire. Kinda neat I guess. Or just killbind as soon as you walk into them. You are basically a flammable suicider with a bad attitude. I've killed/assisted with afterburn to wear enemies down.

No more... the stomp kill is not powerfull again... is normal. But the high he do is amazing.

He's a tank, he's slow it'll be fine, just don't get close to him or stay in one position

I love how the one voicing engie did a PvZ reference regarding his sentry.
It was a fun improv for me to do. Delirium was the one that originally compared the sentries to peashooters when he was making the script. So I propose the improv to him, to reference one of the best tower defense games out there!😆

I think Spy being able to attack before uncloaking is a total oversight. It might seem worse for the actual zombie to have to use melee first to uncloak but it’s more fair to the humans. It gives the humans a chance to respond first if they aren’t paying attention.
Nah, Spy needs that otherwise he's worse than every other class. His reveal ability is next to useless anyway, as everyone knows where the survivors are holding up. It's only useful against a Scout that's running around the map or someone that's hiding. Plus, he doesn't 1 hit kill you. If he had to decloak first, he wouldn't be able to do anything to players camping by a sentry. On top of that, you can still see him while he's cloaked. Players still have full advantage against the Spy.
Also the particle effects are still there.

This is sooo cool the way your guys show your work in the new mod as lore is super nice to be real here i was not a big fan of the zombi infection mode ik the start but this buffs look very good to make the mod more balanced can't wait ti check it out keep up the good work :D(also brazillian representation lets goooo irmaos br!!!!!!)
Making the zombie team actually fun is a big win for both sides of the gamemode.

It's like watching a live feed of the apocalypse and it ain't looking pretty over there for the mercs
Btw a few things about bugs and changes;
Bugs;
-Sound for what ever reason is cut out after a few rounds but only for a few sounds. Things like the lightning strike and more important spies decloaking simply don't make sounds
-If the game is over and a zombie changes classes, they'll spawn on the red team, which is pretty harmless
-If you leave Zombie Infection, go to a new server, and join blue, the icons for Zombies will be there instead
-The Vodo cosmetic that appears on each map should at least be hidden if it's a bug.
changes I thing vast majority of people would like
-Highlight the last survivor always. No one wants to spam Spy at the end to find one guy. It's a huge waste of everyone's time because they usually are found anyways
-Give Zombie Spy and Engineer some new niche. I didn't know the particle effects on Spy were intentional, which frankly makes his invisibly completely useless outside of finding the last survivor. He can reveal Spies but human spies have shitty disguises too since they look like Blu humans. Engineer is also nearly 100% useless if not detrimental. You can literally just go Sniper to do 100% Engineer's thing but better. Not to mention using Heavy or Demo to take down Sentries.
-Speaking of Sentries, Sniper should be able to do direct damage to them with his spit. It's kind of annoying that you don't even get an acid pool if you accidentally hit the Sentry instead of near it.
-NERF Baby Face Blaster, Sticky Jumper, and Rocket Jumper. Yeah you can use to get them as counterplay, but its ridiculously annoying AND it also screws over the humans too. Some douche will run away the entire game and not contribute anything, making it so rest of the humans have 1 less human helping them.
A Heavy Tip: You are painfully slow, but you can use pumpkin bombs and explosive barrels to your advantage. Nobody expects an infected tank to be launched at them like a rocket jumping soldier. This can also be used to instantly travel to higher floors (Sanitarium for example)
I launched myself into a sentry nest and destroyed 3 sentries, 2 dispensers and a few players in one life. I doubt that will happen again but it felt amazing to do. 😅
Medic can explosive jump too, and even avoids the damage during his brief Uber.
This is like if TF2 and L4D was mashed together in a blender, and I love it!

Just gotta mention, other game devs have pointed out the problem in both nerfing a strong play style while also buffing it’s counterpart; nerfing sentries while buffing anti-building abilities might be too heavy handed.

(For the english speakers out there, i'm basically talking about how the gamemode looks more balanced now, despite the reworks being pretty much just buffing zombies)
Well they need those buffs as they can be easily be counter by engineer-heavy combo.

Ya, zombies are to op now. Heavy needs to not be immune to some/all crits. It makes the last few survivor's crits literally meaningless. Also, sniper was powerful being able to insta kill all the zombies in one shot with some skill. I felt it was necessary, since otherwise there isn't really a reason to play sniper. Demo also needs to not get uber when charging his blast charge. It makes it so demo's don't have to think about what they are doing, since if they die during the charge itself they will still blow up. Making it so that they don't get uber means that they can't just walk up and then start the charge when they have 1 hp and still kill people.
Yeah zombie heavy is epesically too powerful. It basically makes the last stand perk pointless and he was already good against senties.

The problem I have with spy zombies is that I can basically see them just the same as anybody else. I can lay tomislav fire on those glowing eyes from far enough away that the invisibility barely concerns me

Scout as the Jockey,Soldier as the Hunter,Heavy as the Tank,Pyro as the Boomer,Engineer as the Smoker,Sniper as the Spitter,Demo as the Charger and lastly Spy also as the Witch but the same as the Hunter as well? Cause blending in with environment seems like his things as well among the infected to get people lower their guard and attack when the time right
Pyro Zombie has been pretty decent. Melee sets enemies on fire. Doesn't seem like much. But on death you set enemies ablaze and they get covered in a gas passer cloud. So you can explosive jump into enemies and kill bind to set a crowd of survivors on fire. Kinda neat I guess. Or just killbind as soon as you walk into them.
You are basically a flammable suicider with a bad attitude. I've killed/assisted with afterburn to wear enemies down.
It's a good thing I got most of my survival challenges out of the way before this update.
