Speaking as a DM who made the switch, there's a weird paradox where there's more rules for stuff but its actually way EASIER to run, since the system is a well built machine that doesn't need the DM to mess with it to get it working. You don't need to make up rulings all the time or balance combats on the fly constantly, since the rules are actually solid and don't have a ton of unbalanced mechanics as part of the core package that need to be revised with homebrew in the way of 5e.

This really sunk in for me when I started playing some old-school dungeons and dragons and started "ad-libbing" rules that were basically just the rules from PF2e.

I had this same experience. I was diving into Dming 5e for the first time, and almost in paralel was starting to try pf2e as a DM.... Pathfinder was sooo much easier. The encounters were easierto get working and pre built adventures actually came fully ready to go without extra homework compared to 5e. Anyway stuck qith pf2e ever since.

I love the description of TTRPGs as "a mix of playing a board game and reading a book"

@@jmcauley650 Thanks for your reply my friend! I've actually been playing TTRPGs for over 26 years! Maybe my tax forms are different from yours, and more like a TTRPG? :) Hope you have a good day

If DnD people find this video, I switch to PF2e this year and it was super fun and interesting to switch to a "new" system.
Also WotC sent bloody Pinkertons so that's a "No more monies" from me.

Your 7 minutes or less explanation videos have been a good go to for me to understand the system, thank you.

D&D was first made by a company called TSR in 1973, but Wizards of the Coast bought them out in 1997. The first edition of D&D that WotC published was 3e.

Besides the art, which is really good, the other reason to get the books themselves is for what is colloquially known as the "fluff". There's really interesting details in the asides and dialogs that really add flavor. Secrets of Magic, as an example, had a really good in-character letter on how druids feel their primal magic all around them. Another book had descriptions of current fashion in a certain area.

I beg of the 5e DM's who are frustrated by the shitty monster rules and mid-late game casters versus martials, TRY P2e. PLEASE! I feel so much better. I think you will too.

If you have played one of the Pathfinder games before 2024 and did not enjoy the rules, that was Pathfinder First edition. I also did not like it.
Pathfinder 2e is a complete overhaul and I struggle to go back to 5e after playing it for 4 years and growing more and more frustrated with it
