They were delicious looking cakes!😂 I'd say that Mandy was sitting on the best side for the most interesting sights. NOTE TO SELF - Sit on the Port side!
@Andrew Bowdin Hahhha 😁 Mandy here. It did make me laugh when I saw that bit, as I'm normally the one focusing on food... but that cake shop definitely caught Lee's attention 😁😀😂 And by Port side Lee means on the left side facing the front... for all the others out there equally challenged by nautical terms 😁😂
That is so kind of you to say. It makes us really happy to know that people find our videos are enjoyable and interesting. We hope to show you plenty more of Portugal and other places when we finally move on. Thank you. 👍😊 ~ Lee
Portugal is such a beautiful country, and Lisbon is gorgeous! We'd definitely recommend visiting here. Thank you for taking the time to comment, we really appreciate it! ~ Mandy
Great informative video! I would love to visit Lisbon - we went to the Algarve in Dec 2019 and were thinking of doing a day trip to Lisbon but never got around to it. Hopefully will go back soon!
Hello Colin. We're so pleased that this video was helpful to you. We have more Lisbon videos here: ruclips.net/p/PLCmNbKU5iMrlNykt4a96ZddhXOD2awNU2&si=mxQIvlPZxCai7Icb
Great video! I was in Lisbon just for a day some years ago in the Old Town, I didn't take the tram but I saw it passing by the cobbled stone steep narrow streets. I have to go back and also try the bica. You have one more subscriber :) , loved your good vibe.
Thank you for your lovely comment, Stephany. Tram 28 was a definite highlight of Lisbon for us... and we love having a bica, even though they're not actually called that where we are are currently housesitting in Caldas da Rainha! Names for certain things change in the different regions of Portugal 😁😀 Thank you for taking the time to write! ~ Mandy
Amazing, so close to the very small footpaths, thanks heaps and you guys are travelling at the perfect time in the world, so jealous cause of course we can’t even get out of the country
Thank you. It was so cool. We are kind of restricted a bit now with curfews in Portugal. We are happy to stay in the Algarve and to ride it out here! 👍😊
We were in Lisbon in 2018 and my friend in tram 28 had a random man trying to pick pock from her bag which she had in front of her with zipper done up and still he managed to nearly get in using a fake arm in a sling, if it wasn’t for our friend spotting him. All hell broke loose with us aussies.🤣fair to say he got off pretty quickly. Not happening on our watch! Though it was very busy as well lots of tourists a pick pocks dream job.
Well done for spotting him and seeing him off! We'd heard that pickpocketing is rife when it is crowded. We were very fortunate that it was so quiet as had plenty of room to move around the tram. Don't mess with the Aussies! 👍😊
I will be traveling to Portugal with my wife in June. We plan on taking high speed train from Porto to Lisbon. My wife speaks Portuguese . Do you have any recommendations where we should look for an AirBnb in Lisbon? We've never been to Lisbon before. Tanks
Hi Peter. We hope you have a wonderful stay in Lisbon. It's a great city to explore. We stayed in a hostel right in the centre of the Baixa downtown area. We'd recommend an Airbnb as close as possible to this area for easy access to all the main sights. It's a hilly city to walk around and the Baixa area is nice and flat. Alfama close by is very atmospheric and could be a great place for Airbnb but may be a bit more expensive due to its popularity with tourists. Hope you enjoy your stay there. 👍😊 ~ Lee
Wow!! No Tourists because of Covid-19 How it must be hurting....I also was not able to come see my 91 year old Portuguese mom who lives in Lisbon....Ai Meu Deus, Lisboa Sem Touristas isto ta mesmo mau para o pouvo que depende no Tourismo... desculpe ao meu Portugues mas nao e a minha primeira Lingua
Yes we are really feeling for the local businesses that are struggling so much during these trying times. Hope you will be able to make it over to see your Mom soon. Seu Portugues é muito melhor que o meu! Muito obrigado por ver nosso video. 😊
@@FrugalTravellers For an English First Speaker like yourself I think your Portuguese is excellent. I am from Vancouver Canada, where are you Folks from?
That's a very good question. It would be impossible to park nearby. The thought had never crossed my mind. It would involve a lot of carrying I expect!
The best cemetery in the world is in Campo de Ourique nos Prazeres. They have huge houses (graves) like almost palaces to put the dead relatives... Something like this. i.pinimg.com/originals/68/33/6b/68336b3ce21642b3c560e1b1bb4713fa.jpg or this i.pinimg.com/originals/2a/08/4a/2a084a2398f66c5b5d90823dac0b03b1.jpg It's pure art all over the place, i know we dont like to talk about the dead, but almost half of the cemetery it's pure art in statues and architecture of the graves.
Wow. Looks amazing! I'm sorry we did not go in and look around now. We do like to explore cemeteries in some cities we visit. It's amazing how the styles can differ so much. We'll make a note to visit next time we go to Lisbon. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for that information, Kim. Isn't that if you buy a ticket directly from the driver? We bought Via Viagem cards with Zapping so it was €1.30 for our trip. ~ Mandy

You make the tram look like so much fun! We wish we rode them while in Lisbon.
It was a real thrill but you guys get enough of that on the bike! 🏍️😊
It brings back memories of the most beautiful time in my life spent in this city and in Alfama.
That is so wonderful that it helped for happy memories to come flooding back. Alfama is such a beautiful place. 😊
That’s it! I have to get out of the states and see other countries; this city is gorgeous!

Brilliant video and commentary, big thanks to you both !
Awww, that's so lovely to hear! Thank you so much, Isaid50, we really appreciate the wonderful feedback! ~ Mandy 🙏😊
I rode the tram till the end then like Hansel & Gretal followed the tracks back. Pleasant experience😅.
That's so cool 🤗😁
Absolutely amazing. One of the most informative and beautiful rides in Lisbon. Outstanding job. Thanks.
Thank you so much, Fran! It was a great experience, and at such a low price it can be on every frugal traveller's itinerary for Lisbon! 😃😁

It's well worth a visit if you can. We stayed in Lisbon for 10 days and found plenty to do. The tram ride is definitely a highlight! 👍

soo cool you have a tram hopper at 14:31 at the back of the tram... soo cool and very good video!!!

I think I paid 1.75 euro. Nice ride and I got off at Plaza Lucia and the sunset was amazing. Thanks guys and happy travel.
Nice one. 👍 It is a fantastic tram ride and one of the best things to do in Lisbon. Happy travels to you too. 😁 ~ Lee
Great video. Heading to Lisbon in April 2022 and staying at Hotel Murdial. It is located in the square where you started so this video was perfect.
Thank you, Kay! It's a great location to be in, as you're in the heart of the city. We're pleased you enjoyed the video! ~ Mandy
I'll be there in mid April, too. Hopefully, the weather will be nice. Have a good trip.
Do the tram goes back to Martim Moniz from Campo Ourique? Or its one-way?
Yes, they return from Campo Ourique, but you do have to get off and on another tram. ~ Mandy
@@FrugalTravellers thank u for your fast reply 😄
Does the tram make a full circle? Or can you drop off the same place you got on?
It returns back to where it started. We explain at the end of the video. 👍

We didn't ride the tram because of pickpockets. Cool seeing it. Does seem like a rollercoaster.
I hate to say it but there were some major benefits of travelling during November 2020, including empty trams! ~ Mandy
At 14:41, when i was a kid i used to do the same, my mother give me money to the tram and i buy sweets instead of buy the ticket.
Haha. That's brilliant. I'm not surprised with all those steep hills in Lisbon. It's the best way to get a free lift to the top!
hello, can I purchase a ticket from the tram driver?
I think you can but it's more expensive. 🤔
