Why I shoot with the URSA Mini Pro G2

What's the perfect camera is an impossible question, but for me the Blackmagic Design URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 is the one I am currently using. It has the resolution, dynamic range, colour science, codecs and ergonomics that suit my workflow the best. It also matches up with the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, making that a brilliant camera B (Or in our case, gimbal camera).

hamad oof I bought my *WHOLE* setup from a sketchy guy in Detroit for $500... I get 500-700 FPS with shaders and without I’m in the 1,000. ☺️

Great review! I think one of the biggest under-valued strengths of the G2 is how it renders motion, which of course comes from the much improved readout time. It's not a global shutter technically, but I haven't run into a situation where the rolling shutter was noticeable. To me, this is a big plus!
I love the fact that you’re a filmmaker as well as a phenomenal entertainer, been a sub of the MC channel for a while but love to see you drop gear related content!

I really hope that there are people out there who are acctually asintrested in cameras n stuff as Mumbo find this channel. Don’t know anythin about cameras but this feels like the real deal.
I've never worked with the G2, but I do use the G1 more or less everyday at my job. It's a true workhorse! In January I took it from Denmark to South Africa for a 10 day shoot, and there wasn't any problems at all, even on extremely hot days. One thing I miss though is the slowmotion capabilities of the G2...

Question for the Mumbo: How do you make interviews with people feel natural and emotional? I am just starting up with these mini-docs with a friend and noob DLSR's and one of our bigger problems is that people getting interviewed, well, talks like they are getting interviewed. they talk to an interviewer instead of a person or the audience.
Ole Emil Lindkilde did you get an answer on this or come up with a method? I’m starting a mini-doc series myself, and I found that a lot of people were very formal. You have to make it a conversation.

Nice info in there mate, I have been tempted to swap out the FS5 for the G2, having the BMRAW on both my cameras would be good. I love the FS5 set up, shooting prores gives loads of latitude for editing so its not a priority to change out but could happen for a bigger project in the future if colour matching is going to be more time limited

When you're recording to SSDs, do you just use a regular USB C external SSD? Whenever I try to find any more info online it just shows info about the rear SDI to SSD module.

great video - thanks for sharing! Have been using the G1 for over a year and love it. What anamorphic setup do you have going there? Have been looking into similar options with a helios taking lens. Also when you're on the gimbal are you pulling focus yourself mostly or have an AC to pull? Also curious to what gimbal you mainly use!

Mumbo, I'm so jealous of you. I want a cinema camera so bad but I don't have A. the money, and B. the access to free cameras. I want a cinema camera so bad! My uncle is a freelance camera man. He worked on Avengers Endgame, Tiger King and lots of smaller projects. When I graduate highschool in 2023 I'm going to some sort of film school, hopefully LA Film School.
