Got my first Harley off of FB market place from a Navy vet, real nice guy, loved that bike... Was a 16' 883, ran beautifully and I ended up trading it in to get a 117 fxlrs... I do miss the 883's gold flake candy paint job though.
The 90 on the back cyl may just be stuck rings.. pour some oil in it and give it a week

you certainly did good on that bike. engine looks like it has manual decompression valves. who knows, low compression on rear cylinder may be from that one activated. worth checking.

I'd try to start it anyway. Sometimes compression testers can lie to you, or it may also be that the rings might not have much oil to them if it's been sitting a while.
The discussion on the "Blade" levers was definitely worth the wait.

Always check compression with the throttle wide open.
You were reasonably sure about it when you bought . You did well any way you look at it and I believe your pricing is reasonable also , congratulations .

You may try doing another compression check on the rear cylinder when the battery is fully charged. It may have used up tge juice when you check the front cylinder. If the battery is lower when you did the second cylinder it will give you a false reading.

Back in the day, my young and dumb self was introduced to the buying and selling of souls by some MTG dudes at the local card shop. They would legit use them as currency amongst themselves. I dabbled a bit and "bought" a few from classmates in good fun. One really let it get to him though. A few years later he found me on social media and started messaging me in the middle of the night, essentially begging to have his paperwork/soul back. I didn't have the heart to tell him I'd lost it, so I left him hanging with the belief I would never sell it back to him. At least in his mind, he would know where it was.
There’s a bike with an s&s 12something here in NY going for a lot more it hasn’t sold but apples to apples 🍏 I think you made out pretty well.

People can have that rigid shit. When I bought my 77 Kz 1000 it was a strutted drag bike and it only took one bridge expansion joint at 70 mph to convince me that I needed shocks. It was one of the singularly most painful events of my entire life and I had rear shocks on it by the morning.
My guess is that a lifter just bled down. Should pump back up with some oil pressure.
That glass fuel filter is a bad idea, ive heard stories of them leaking and starting fires.
Barf Party seems to run solid! I think it may be worth the price you payed for and the defect is easy fixable if there is even a defect on that chopper.

It’s very common for rings to stick after sitting. I wonder if you got some heat in the old girl.. the old Italian tune up. If her compression numbers don’t come back up.

Put some oil in the rear cylinder and recheck compression. I'm sure the ultima has a big cam in it with stronger springs. The roller lifters are good for around 35,000 miles, maybe 40, I would be checking them. I think u got a good buy!!!!

If your squish chamber and valves size is right, big squish band, big intakes valve small chamber and exhaust valve the small exhaust valve makes it run good with short open exhaust, according to Ben Alameda

For over 20 years, I bought, sold, swapped, and restored vintage drum sets and snare drums as a side gig. In the end, dealing with eBay and having to ship everything was a giant drag and I stopped. So I totally understand having to try and part out a bike to try and make money. But I also understand just wanting to keep all the parts for down the road (up until last year, I swear I had enough stuff in my basement to build my own Harley). For what’s on that bike, I think you made out either way. $1500 was a good investment.
Get a title get the thing running good fix the rear cylinder fix the paint simple rattle can paint job with some wet sanding and a buff at the end would look just fine for an old chop chop. Then sell it and make a couple bucks.
I think the pricing for the breakup is good. The only thing off is the BDL primary. IIRC that one is only about 1600 new. It's an older style with some up graded CNC work . Some of the BDLs can be pricy tho..

I don't know if anyone said - but you need to hold the throttle open to check compression. I just did this on my bike yesterday, and I forgot - it gave me a low PSI (like 100 or so) when with the throttle open it went to 155! - My apologies if you had the throttle open and I didn't see it!

@@shadetreesurgeon Same situation, my heart hit the floor when I saw my rear cyl was so low compared to the front! Once I opened the throttle as I turned it over checking the rear, the rear PSI shot up and matched the front (I had checked the front first). I hope that's the case for you :)

I just used a totally random wingnut bolt I've had laying around for the past 8 years. The drumset I bought was missing some hardware, so it's awesome that my frugalness wasn't in vain. hahaha !! It ain't hoarding if you need it. :P :P

Scope the cylinder and check for scoring on the cylinder wall. If it looks good I would fire it up and bring the rings back around, they may be stuck from sitting. Maybe a dirty exhaust valve. I think you have a good engine.

I have bought two and had no issues. I got a 2009 Sportster Custom with 4,000 miles on it in like new condition for $2,800. I still own it 4 years later and now it has 36K no issues so far.
Talking about the wagon wheels, my 2000 flhtcui had spokes. I put THOSE particular wagon wheels on it 12 years ago and paid 300$ for them. I put those on so i could go tubeless, as i carry a plug kit in case of flat. And it saved me multiple times from a wrecker. I bought a touring bike because i actually tour the country on it.

No title on marketplace usually means its a stolen bike. My local DMV has slips of paper that you can take a rubbing of the vin # with and they'll check to see if its been reported as stolen before you buy the bike.
