It was time to trim the "burning bush" over by the garage A/C so that I could run it. I decided to use my gas-powered hedge trimmer for no reason other than I always use it on this bush. I really don't have a reason to use it on that bush anymore, since there are new neighbors that don't have to be imposed upon, but I grabbed it anyway, I guess it's good to fire it up every once and again.
This year, it had other plans. Last year the fuel filter "rotted off" the hose in the tank and fell inside. While I was able to retrieve that, when I went to try and reattach it, the rest of the fuel hose didn't want to play anymore and disintegrated as soon as I touched it. I got it to fire a little, but it wasn't happy. This guy's gonna need a new carbinator and fuel lines. I understand they sell a whole kit that includes everything.
I had to switch over to the battery powered trimmer. While I do have an AC powered one that would be much mroe suited to the task, I decided to try "going green" this yearm and used the somewhat larger, battery powered trimmer sent in by SAKER. It did the trick. It's not as nimble as the smaller cordless shears I have, but can cut more at a time. The smaller ones are actually quite convenient to have and use, with their small size they can fit in tight quarters and have enough power to do the job. They're also very lightweight, so holding it with an outstretched arm isn't even a problem. The SAKER one is great, it's almost a full sized unit and has plenty of power for what it needs to, but for smaller fine-tuning, I like a smaller tool. Still, though, this bush might outgrow all of the shears I have soon, its branches are getting pretty thick.
Now that the garage A/C is all clear, it's time to turn it on for the season, as it was warm enough to warrant it!

Looks like someone last summer was on the Dr Pepper!
Fire bush looks fine. I have a video of my new battery powered hedge trimmers in editing. Should go live, next month.
Yeah, pretty typical for me to be working like that on my birthday as well.

Yeah, I wonder who! Though I will say, the leftovers were nice to have! Look forward to seeing your hedge trimmers.
Mmm-hmm. Yeah, birthdays just don't mean what they used to anymore. Funny enough, today, next door, they are celebrating the guy's birthday. I think he's about 10 years younger than I am, so it still means something. They have a lot of people over, and a DJ just showed up so we'll see what happens with this. Not that I would possibly complain, like the old neighbors!
