    Sweet safe, when I had more firearms I had a much larger safe. I bought 2 friends pizza & a bottle of Crown to get it in, paid my movers a extra $150 (don't get fleeced), & the dude who bought it paid 2 guys $120 each to move it. Now I have a smaller Winchester that "fits into a closet", cool video!

    So owning a safe is great, your safe is quite nice and im happy to see you have something to lock your guns up or if anything just keep your firearms in a space you can keep track of. Now you mentioned having one specifically in case of a fire. I have worked as a volunteer fire fighter and have gone through burned down houses. I have found gun safes that were cooked. Something to keep in mind, that thicker steel, that higher fire rating makes it so there is a higher pressure seal inside the safe itself. NOT only do your guns get roasted (beyond repair) but if you keep ammo in your safe, you're literally making your safe a bomb. (ironic right...safe...bomb) Ive seen safes that have had the entire side blown out because of the ammo that was cooked inside. I have a safe for the specific purpose to keep my kids (and their friends) out of my gun stuff

      Nice to hear a volunteer firefighter chime in. I mean it. No sarcasm here. :) He's like the other gun nerds making RUclips videos. Buys any and ever accessory they can afford...reveals what they look like...assuming bad guys don't have internet access to recognize them one day and follow them home. :) (THUMBS UP).

    • @95dodgev10
      @95dodgev10 Год назад

      @@johnmccarthyjr this is an old video and comment but in the off chance you see this, if its a bad fire most safe end up as basement safes. Because they're so heavy it doesn't take much fire damage to compromise the structure to the point the safe decides to relocate itself downstairs. That being said a water rating is almost more important than the fire rating because all the water the fire department uses to put out or control the fire ends up in the basement as well.

    I would suggest you look into a rechargeable power supply to power a reel of those ribbon led lights. I have a small one that’s 6000 mAh and runs a 5 meter strip of leds for about three hours constant run time. Since it’s only on for a short duration, I just take it out and charge it occasionally. Works great and didn’t have to run power to my safe. The ribbon was like $10 and the power supply was $30 on Amazon.

  • @echosreloadingchamber7306

    Looking into holland safes brother the rg22 is what I have. You need to be aware of the fire ratings. When you rate a safe for fire ratings they're done by California or UL standards which are very very low standards. Just a little tip when you place your safe wherever it is think this one thing keep it away from fuel. And I don't mean gasoline in a house fire or building fire wood drywall even a dresser is fuel to a fire the less crap that is around the safe the longer it will last in a fire. I had a friend who had a Liberty Safe in a closet that was a large walk-in closet unfortunately his wife had a quite extensive collection of clothing and because of the clothing feeding the fire it got well over 2000 degrees in his closet and completely melted the guns on the inside of the safe and pretty much just burnt the safe to pieces. We used to K-12 carbide bit saw two-stroke powered to cut the top off his safe and to get inside it and everything was ruined. I always recommend that people who are serious about having a home safe back it up with a home security system and fire detection system. Vivint or ADT are good companies for security systems. And no I do not work for a security system or a Safe Company. My father was a fireman for 24 years and he seen a lot of damage done by fire and I'm just trying to pass it along to help you fellas out and ladies that may not have as much experience. Keep up the good work on the videos. Everybody have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

    Questions, 1. can it be disassembled while locked and how that works? 2. How many digits is the passcode and is it digital only or analog (with key or something) too? 3. What degree is your normal house fire burn, and how long? 4.will it protect you're ammo too in case of a fire? 5. In case of flood and/or fire will it short or the keypad hence wondering about an alternative solution for opening if need be?

    • @anthonyorr2487
      @anthonyorr2487 2 года назад

      They bolt together from the inside, so you need the door open to take apart. The factory code is 5 digits, but you should be able to set your code shorter or longer, you can also order a standard analog lock mechanism. The digital version also has a back up key option for unlocking in case of a battery dying or other digital malfunction. Typical house fires today can get over 1200 degrees easily because of the synthetic materials used in construction of items. Honestly I wouldn't suggest keeping your ammo inside of a gun safe in a fire safety standard because the safe essentially turns into a giant oven and can cause your ammo to explode.

      I thought the same thing too - It doesn't matter. The battery goes dead, the digital lock portion pops off, you change the battery, pop the lock back on, and you are back in business. I find the digital much better considering I forget to put something in the safe 1-2 times every time I pull things out. Quick 5 digit, and I'm back in. The dial spinning works, but the digital is REALLY nice!

    That safe, are the natal seals allow for someone to easily get in, I would think you would not want a criminal to steal your weapons, so they aren’t used for crime or murder and then your insurance doesn’t cover that,
    Your stuff will still melt in large house fire in a safe, and over longer period they can implode because of pressure build up

    If you’re worried about a fire... put your safe in the basement because it’s gonna end up there anyway!

    If I’m going to get a safe in the future I want a safe that will take you like a hour to crack so I know the police or swat can show up before they stole my life savings.
