- [4K] Haunted Mansion Ride at Tokyo Disneyland. Which Haunted Mansion do you guys think is better? Haunted Mansion at Disneyland in California, Tokyo Disneyland, or Disneyland Paris?
Be sure to visit Tokyo Disney Resort in the near future to experience this awesome Haunted Mansion ride in person.
Just a fun fact for y’all, this haunted mansion is located in Fantasy Land of all places. This is because in Japanese culture, scary stories are classified as sort of a fairytale.
Oooh! That's interesting!
Yeah
Fascinating
That explains a lot
It is surprising that they have the mystic manor and this ride.
I don't speak a word of Japanese, but in my head, the first bit of audio translated to "Please do not pull down on the safety bar..."
Susan F yeah you're correct👏
"And no flash photography please, we spirits are frightfully sensitive to bright lights"
Halloween Horror World you're correct too 👏

The attic and the graveyard are so perfect! This is the closest to the 1969 version of them as your gonna get. Although without the original corpse bride and hatbox ghost
haunted mansion better in jpan
It's a different effect in the graveyard. Tokyo obviously paints their graveyard figures with blacklight paint, which makes them glow so brightly. In the other Mansions they don't use blacklight paint; the plastic clothes and plastic bodies of the figures glow with a much more muted effect. I like both versions. I think they both work and I wouldn't say that one is better than the other.
Cole Walker no, they have the beating heart bride too, basically only one missing is the hatbox ghost
Стадник Елена well yeah, it's updated, although I've always liked the florida one the best, the one in japan perfectly mimics the florida house
cricketrecords actually I don’t think this one uses black light. Black light has a different looking color. These figures look like they have something else. The Florida one uses black light. You can tell by the color patterns of the animatronics. It has an ugly looking tint to them in Florida. Personally I hate the black light effects in wdw it is hideous.

And like every good haunted mansion, it's stops at some point when your riding it.

Usually to let disabled riders off and on, but yeah, every time lol
Robert Clark That would explain everything!!! Seriously, I've been to both DLR and WDW Haunted Mansion and I started to believe it's just the ride being haunted. However, I never thought of that.
+Nicole Davalos it's also down to age as well because all the HM's except Phantom Manor at paris are well over 40 years old. they are well kept and maintained which means it can still run but will have problems! :)

Whooooaaaa.
I miss the pictures changing from their "normal" state to their "haunted" state when it comes to the hallway scene! But this version is still great.
Same
The pictures still do that in California and Florida! It’s weird that they disabled it in Japan.
Tokyo is the best incarnation, from the well kept effects/scenes, to the better lighting and sound in the graveyard, the Classic Bride/bats in the attic, the original 'non cartoon CGI' Hitchhiking Ghosts and the addition of the Stretching Face painting in the Corridor or Doors...if only they had the California Hatbox Ghost, it would be a near perfect Mansion....
+Karstens Creations you have to remember that California Disneyland was built in 1955. And Haunted Mansion was first introduced in 1969. Even after the installment of several upgrades after the Haunted Mansion movie with Eddie Murphy came out in 2003, the ride operates on much of the old technology that it originally was introduced with. Including it's holograms.
Disneyland Tokyo opened in 1983. But this Haunted Mansion version got a major refurbishment in 2007, including replacing it's once sticker glow in the dark stars with fiber optics. So of course it's effects are "better".
Disneyland Anaheim likes to keep some things as close to their original as possible, until they become unpopular. And haunted mansion always has a long line. It's not always about the effects.
+Karstens Creations Haunted Mansion doesn't use holograms. It uses Pepper's ghost.
" you have to remember that California Disneyland was built in 1955. And Haunted Mansion was first introduced in 1969. Even after the installment of several upgrades after the Haunted Mansion movie with Eddie Murphy came out in 2003, the ride operates on much of the old technology"
Thanks, but I knew all of that...my point was simply that the Tokyo version features wonderful upgraded animatronics, and it would be great to see the original Anaheim version receive the same treatment...
No, Mystic Manor is the best incarnation, followed by Phantom Manor.
LAB-Lil' Angry B!tch Mystic Manor is an incredible ride, but it's kind of it's own thing. The only real similarities are the name and inspiration. As for Phantom Manor, I'd say effects-wise, it's about as well done as this one I think what OP's saying though is that this one encompasses many of the great original things Walt designed while building the original ride, but executed with better technology.
that version of the attic always scared me as a kid.
+Paul Hruby I think this version of the Attic scene is far more superior than the disneyland and WDW versions
Paul Hruby me too. The bride especially.

By far the most impressive-looking of the three, even small shit like having the Bride's Heartbeat synced up with the Ballroom Organ... It's like they actually believe in running the place like it should be. Even with all the updates they added ten years ago, Walt Disney World's still lags behind. Look at how much smoother the AA's movements are here by comparison. Same deal with their Library, it's still glowing
Yeah, Disney in the States wants the money, but they don't care about the condition of their parks, just as long as everything is censored.
@@SirBuzz Wth does censorship have to do with shrinking maintenance budgets?
@appleguyforeternity Disney has thrown a lot of money into the efforts to sanitize their park attractions by their StoriesMatter department. One ridiculous example is the cave at the Jungle Cruise in WDW is literally crumbling and potentially putting patron's safety in jeopardy. However, Disney felt that forking millions into removing "problematic indigenous natives" that offended no one was on the top of the priority list before a tragedy waiting to happen.
I still remember visiting this very mansion when I was 6 years old. Now I am 25. Time flies!
26...
Going to the Anaheim park in the late 70's and 80's, this is as close to the original attic scene as I remembered it being. It scared the crap out of me as a kid.
The only thing missing is the loud noises of the pneumatics going off pushing the heads up.

I'm a bit surprised that they have the beating-heart bride instead of Constance, but I feel like that's part of what makes this so interesting. You can hear her heart beating for quite a while before you actually see her. Pretty cool! I also feel like I've never noticed the groundskeeper move at all, but here he does. I'm pretty unobservant, though, so for all I know he's been moving since 1969!
Ooohhhhhhhh.
the ghost effects they have for toyko are amazing! all the animatronics look like ghosts instead of pale people lit up green (cali)
I was a little boy when the original Haunted mansion opened in Anaheim Disneyland. Over the years they have toned down the fear factor a lot, to where it is more humorous than frightening. This version of the ride in Tokyo, however, is almost identical to the original, with only a few minor differences; for instance, the figure at the end who calls out "Hurry Ba-ack!" was not the bride again, but a tiny Morticia Adams lookalike next to the 'up' escalator on the way out, after exiting the doom-buggy. The only thing missing is the Hat-Box Ghost.

first time i’m seeing this version of the ride, and because it’s so much newer, it looks SO much more lively than the california ride.
This is THE BEST VERSION OF THE HAUNTED MANSION!!! And its because it is the closest version to the original that exists! I Loooooove the original Bride, she is by far the weirdest one, and this is the only HM with her intact! The Japanese Disney Parks are the superior parks overall in my opinion... I can't wait to visit them again!!!
ZEOOO?
I love how the graveyard looks amazing it's just beautiful.
this looks exactly like how the haunted mansion was in WDW before it was renovated in like 2005. LOVE IT
Rachel Casale 2007
Ah this is how I remember the Florida one looking back in 2006 before the big refurbishment. I guess they moved the old stuff into this one! For example those huge spiders disappeared from Florida and a 4 dimensional staircase was added. Stairs going up, down, left and right from all possible angles. Oh and those piston props that shoot up in the attic before the bride had a story behind her involving her 5 husbands. (In Florida). This Tokyo one is almost identical to the way the Florida one used to look. Even to the sound of the bride’s heartbeat. That’s no longer in the Florida one. Only speech!
StrikingMagic77 actually, I do believe Constance does have a heartbeat once you first enter the Attic, but not when you're in it.
They didn't move anything, it's just that this one is a clone of the orlando one as it was in 1983.
The spider webs were moved to the temple scene in the Jungle Cruise.

Agreed
The lighting is gorgeous! It make the animatronics look like the original ride sketches brought to life.
I know it is so awesome!!!
Yes agreed
I love the graveyard scene!
The graveyard ghosts singing in that scene is very interesting
It looks like musical film or comedy fantasy film
I like that you can see all of the ghosts in the graveyard clearly. Instead of them looking a dark grayish blue like in Anaheim, this has a bright gray color
Love how Translucent the graveyard ghosts look. And their all white coloring reminds me of the Marc Davis concept art.
The graveyard ghosts are so bright in the Tokyo version. It looks like there are no black scrims hanging in front of the scenes as in the other versions. This is nice but Disneyland is still the best, although I prefer the attic here. I'm not a fan of "Constance", the head chopping bride.
I wonder if part of it is the 4K camera is sucking in every bit of light - I bet it's darker in there than in the video...but yes, it appears their scenes are lit and maintained immaculately.
cricketrecords no there is. If you look at the floor near the tea party seen you’ll see the end of it draping down. It just looks that way because the scrim is good quality and he is using a 4K camera
cricketrecords Disney World has a better version than DL, it has better technology
@@luuchoo93 you right
In.
Interesting how slightly different it is from the Walt Disney world version of the ride. The picture corridor has no windows or changing images in the Tokyo version. The warped staircase room is replaced by spiders in the dark. And the attic in the Tokyo version has jumpscare ghosts as well as a different version of Constance that appears on the right. Other than that the ride is pretty much the same as the wdw version.
This is the version is a copy of Disney World's mansion as it appeared in 1971...
@@jimbodeekI figured that’s what it was. That’s really cool! I actually prefer some of the scenes in this version over the current Wdw version. The original attic scene is so much cooler. So from 1971-2006ish the wdw mansion stayed totally the same? I got to ride the original wdw mansion a handful of times when I was a kid so all I really know is the current mansion. I have vague memories of the wdw mansion being this way (I definitely remember this version of the bride figure) when I rode but I’ve been on the current mansion tons of times. It’s really cool seeing how it was originally!
If it only had the hatbox ghost, this would be the best haunted mansion ride
Beating Heart Bride! So that's your new home! For awhile I thought she was homeless...

I went to Tokyo Disney with my friends last year specifically to ride this. Come to find out that it was down for refurb 😫
I'm going back in 2022 to try again 😁🤘
I've noticed compared to the other Haunted Mansions in the other parks, this one is well lit so you wouldn't need to use night vision. Then again, your camera might be good at taking video at low lightning. Great video, thanks for sharing!

Even though I've never rode the one at Tokyo or Paris, I prefer the looks of the Phantom Manor in Paris, as it holds a much darker atmosphere with it's various skeletons and such. Though I do like the look of the graveyard in Tokyo and the Hatbox Ghost when he was around in California nonetheless.
I do like those aspects, but then it kinda loses me at the western part at the end...
kiwisoup Agreed
Agree as well!
Man! Florida and California need to up their game! That graveyard scene was gorgeous! All the ghosts were so well lit, and the music players actually look like theyre playing something, also,I have never seen the graveyard Caretaker have so much head movement, like...ever. Plus i mean I like Constance in the attic, but i wish it were an actual figure, not just a projection on what looks like a manequin. It just looks kinda derpy or offsetting, would love to have either the classic bride or constance as an animatronic. Also I dont think Ive ever seen the executioner's mouth move....
ゴーストライターのとこの本って勝手にめくれなかったっけ…
It's almost like Florida's Haunted Mansion if it were frozen in the 90's!!! Such a cool a nostalgic POV :)
That was the only time I went to Florida, before Orlando stuff like the interactive queue (clear room for my inevitable visit there..) I live near the 1969 O.G>!
I like how this is almost a time capsule of Florida's 1971 version. Just with a few updates to the effects and UV paint.
Wow, some of those mirror and lighting tricks to pull off those ghosts were amazing. Man i love dark rides.
It's like the WDW Mansion before the 2007 refurbishment...the hallway portrait gallery was always one of my favorite parts, pity it's not in Florida anymore...and this attic has the old shrieking pop-up ghosts!
ITS NOT IN FLORIDA ANYMORE!?!?
oliver driggs Nope...sorry...it's been replaced with a gallery of portraits that change with lightning flashes from a bank of windows from the opposite wall (like they have in Disneyland).Type in "WDW haunted mansion 2016" and see for yourself.

This looks so much like the Disneyland version we have here in California!! But with little added details! Like the library in the beginning … I love it!!
The graveyard scene beats both DL and WDW. Nice and clear with just the right amount of bright to be able to see lots of cool things
Ohhh how nostalgic to see the classic attic scene I was so haunted by as a child when going to FL! I love all the Haunted Mansion brides. Phantom Manor is my favorite though~
I love seeing the Shanghai and Tokyo versions of the Disney rides, but could you maybe add English subtitles for the ride audio? I'd like to see how it compares.
I'm Japanese and the announcement is pretty much the same with what the original version says.
This is the exact version i remember as a kid at magic kingdom in florida, because i remember those spiders, those always freaked me out. I do admit the ghosts look a lot better here
THERE'S the attic ghost screams that scared me as a kid! Wow I miss those now. lol
the best one is the Hunted Manor at Disneyland Paris...because it's different from the other around the world and has got a creepy story behind it! i love it!
This is exactly the same as the one in Florida! Beautiful! My absolute favorite ride !
Thank you so much for uploading this! You did an astonishing job! Tokyo has the best Haunted Mansion!
I'm genuinely an easily scared person when it comes to the graveyard scene, I wouldn't be able to handle that!
Been to all 3. Paris hands down is the best. It is actually spooky not so cartoonish as other 2..
Well when they were creating the original ride, creators couldn't decide if they ride should be funny or scary... So they made it both
Lol, well you are free to form your own opinion on it. I like the Orlando ride. But the other ones are great too.
K von I thought it looked much scarier than the Orlando and California versions. But it was in French so I couldn't understand a word of it

I liked this musical ride so much and the funny creepy parts. And I am in my bedroom. Wonder what it feels like in the real world.
Amazing
Too bad the character voices weren't in Japanese...
「ここから出て行こう!ここから出て行こう!」
I have only one complaint about this ride, and its the fact you can see the ceiling in the graveyard
I agree
You can't actually see it in person. It's just the camera settings, but the ride is still really well lit regardless
Again, another great video. I noticed some minor additions from the old Orlando version.(2 books on the floor in the library and the Hitchhiking Ghosts head bobbing to the music in the mirrors instead of looking back and forth at the riders ). The question i do have is, In the graveyard, did they not have the fog scrims in front of the ghosts? I have never, in any of the versions, seen as much detail in the ghosts in that scene.

I love how there are the similarities but enough differences to make it unique. Just like the Phantom Manor.
0:42 I really miss the Sinister 11 hallway that used to be in Orlando before the refurb. Now Tokyo is the only version that still has it.
This ride is gorgeous. I sincerely hope I get to go on this someday.
0:41 another thing, please don’t use the flash, the ghouls here do not like bright lights
1:04 what’s here are important books, all that are spooky. These marble stone heads are left by famous ghostwriters who had their names written in history
1:23 there are 999 ghouls living in this mansion, waiting for the 1000th ghouls to appear. Anyone wish to become one? I can choose from one of you guys randomly, you know.
1:45 if you decided that you want to become a ghouls, let’s meet later *laughs*
2:00 not even I know how long this Holloway is
2:06 it becomes cold like you’ll freeze, hot like you’ll burn, hard to live like you’re happy, you can feel it too, right?

3:32 It seems like you’re hearts have connected, a family has risen up, and started a ball. I guess I’ll go have fun with them, I’ll be with you guys, later.
6:27 Oh, seems I made it in time. I forgot to tell you that ghouls appear here (couldn’t hear well), seems like they appeared in the living world uncontrollably
6:46 Congratulations, you are the 1000th ghoul. The ghouls will keep celebrating until you comeback here.
7:17 I’ll raise the safety bar, plus I’ll have a ghoul follow you home.
Wow, this is the one I grew up with in Florida [almost]! It's nice to see it lives somewhere.
I’m assuming this was basically the WDW haunted mansion as it opened in 1971? I remember riding it my first time as a kid back in ‘06 right before they changed it to having that endless stairways scene and Constance the bride. I vaguely remember seeing the heartbeat bride on the right side of the track those few times I rode the original ride at WDW. This old school attic scene is about a million times better (and spookier) than the current WDW scene. Unfortunately WDW traded old creepy ambiance and mystery for new tech projection screens and some headless husband wedding portraits. They’ll never do it, but if I could make the decision I’d put this original attic scene in over the current one for sure.
There are a few subtle changes from the original WDW variant, such as the loading area having different wallpaper, the beating heart bride having a veil, and the music being pitched down somewhat in the Corridor of Doors, but besides that, it’s essentially the same as the 1971 incarnation of the ride.
@@shroomzed2947 nice. How cool is it to have this preserved like this? Anytime we want we can go and watch what the original Florida HM ride was like (more or less). I’m honestly surprised Tokyo DL hasn’t yet renovated their HM. Is there some sort of agreement where, since the operators of Tokyo Disney only just license the Disney name and attractions and don’t own the rights to rides, they aren’t allowed to change an original ride like the HM or Pirates? With all of the money and care they poor unto Tokyo Disney to make it the best Disney park in the world (according to many) you’d think they’d have an updated, state of the art HM attraction, not just a copy of the original 1971 HM. Just makes me wonder about how much say they have over changing classic Disney rides without Disney themselves being involved. Either way, I’m glad this video exists.
That ghost Bride is the best feature they did yet! A sweet version of Constance. ^^
I've been there and YES! It's almost identically as bright as it is in the video. The graveyard is slightly darker and the ballroom is half as bright. The attic is also darker. The hallways are half as bright in person and the seance room is accurate
Zerro.
I like both Haunted Mansions for their own reasons.
Not a huge fan of the 'new' version in Orlando, this was a nice nostalgic memory of the ride I grew up with. They also made it much, much darker in WDW, I felt like I was missing detail i knew was there.
I wish we had our old Bride back at Disneyland...............
Coltonandgen I hate Constance. She looks so ridiculously fake with her flat face.
Coltonandgen Hatbox Ghost doesn't look flat. Madame Leota doesn't look flat. It's called projection and no, it's not supposed to be flat.
Our previous bride was more mysterious and you could kind of make up your own backstory for her.
... and that's why it was great. She didn't HAVE TO do anything. She was mysterious on her own, with her red glowing heart and candle. Sometimes less is more.
+Coltonandgen +ThatHauntfreak2 Both of y'all gotta chill with this. No need for arguments. Just sit back, drink some Lipton, and enjoy. Honestly, I think the Tokyo version needs some milk. Paris is clearly the best.
Actually, Disneyland Tokyo and Orlando are almost identical. In 2007- the spider/webs scene was replaced with a brand new scene. The new scene encompasses inverted stairways with candles. The attic scene with the ghost bride with the beating heart was also replaced with a new female ghost who marries several grooms and cuts their head s off. So I have to say that Orlando and Paris are the best....this is from personal experience. Tokyo is still 10 years behind the times.....
I would have to say the here in California since it is the original but the one in Paris is cool since it completely different.

The sounds and voices sound much louder and clearer .. The music doesn't seem as loud ... Much nicer mix .. I enjoyed listening to the ball room scene
Anyone else instinctively look for the bullet hole in the dinner scene?
G1MRG the bullet hole can only be found in the Anaheim California Disneyland when someone shot the glass with I wanna say a .22 or a BB gun something along those lines back in the '80s. So instead of replacing the glass (which they would have to remove the whole ceiling to take the glass out and put in a new one) the covered it up with a spider to make it look like a spiderweb 🕷🕸 so you've got a $0.99 fix for a million dollar problem 👏😊
No stretching room? That was the best part of the original.
There is a stretching room. They just didn't show it in the video

0:44 Did they have the eye following portraits in 1983 on opening day with the park?
So clean and clear. Do they not have 900000 strollers around their park?
Wow. Tokyo's version is allot more cartoonish compared to Walt DisneyWorld or Disneyland. I would love to visit it. Disneyland scares the pants off of me lol
It's nice to see the Corridor of Doors with the red lanterns and lack of family portraits like how it used to be in WDW
I noticed the screams and noises made by the "ghouls" are louder and more intense in this one too. WDW's is almost half toned down compared to this. Something I noticed too is that the last door you see before the 13 clock has two hand/claws on it, and a more violent/angry ghoul. The one at Disney World has one hand/claw and doesn't seem as intimidating.
I hope Tokyo keeps their mansion's Sinister 11 Portraits up. I miss them being in the WDW Mansion.
