  • The beveling process isn't in there because there was some sort of file corruption, forcing me to remove those clips.

    Should've snapped the joint part of the bone handle off. It would have 8 pyramid like bone spikes that look a lot better than the joint.

    Not a nay sayer but just wondering why so little flux? Also what about scarfing the joint to make the transition flow better also making the area of high carbon more accessible. Looking forward to any info

      The flux was some different stuff that my mentor gave me, it has cast iron shavings and borax in it so the steel can weld at a lower temperature. it may not look like much, but as long as you have a film of flux on the steel it will weld. scarfing the joint would have helped for sure. I kept getting nasty delams on the tang due to the poor weld in that area. The rest of the blade was fine thankfully.

    I'm pretty sure you flux both sides, and use cast iron powder. Ideally anyways.

    That half laminated steel is called ' Ksumi ' in japan

      Gloria An no it's called ni mai meaning 2 layer..
