  • Don Mosebar, Another Raiders Legend|Raiders History
Known as one of the great icons of the Raiders, Don Mosebar has left his mark on football history. In an era defined by the silver and black of the Raiders, his name stands out as a symbol of dedication and talent.
When Dave Dalby vacated the starting center position, there was uncertainty about who could fill his shoes. It was then that coach Art Shell, amidst a long list of talents, pointed to Don Mosebar. Up until then, Mosebar had excelled as a tackle and guard but had never played center in his career. However, the trust placed in him by Shell and the honor of taking on such a crucial role motivated Mosebar to accept the challenge.

So many great Raiders...but the Oline was always a strength for our greatest teams. Mosebar was a stud.

I had the pleasure meeting him. I used to deliver lumber to construction sites and he was at a few of them working as a real estate appraiser or something. I would run into him a lot and he would always talk to me after I brought up some Raider history about him. He was a great player and super friendly.

If Coach Shell knows anything about football it's the O Line. That's how he knew Mosebar was the right guy. Wish Coach had won a Lombardi, the man's a legend in his own right. Mosebar is also a legend and a truly gifted athlete who did right by his predecessors. What a terrible way to be forced to change your entire life in an instant.

Not to knock big ART but his second time around with raiders his first move was to put Robert gallery back at tackle was a huge mistake

A legend without a doubt. One of three best centers the Raiders ever had ( obviously Otto and Dalby being the other two). The Raiders never missed a beat with their centers from their inception in 1960 to untimely retirement of Mosebar.
      Definitely belongs in the HOF!

T Keith Van Horne (Chicago SBXX Champion) & TE Hoby Brenner (Saints) were a part of that O-line.

Kind of like how the Red Sox left fielders were in the extended eras of Ted Williams, Carl Yastrzemski, and Jim Rice!

He was a great one for us, but to think we passed on Dan Marino for him kinda stings a bit.

We would have Marino for sure, but if the NFL didn't screw the Raiders, we would had Elway. Man that 1983 draft was load at a lot of positions. Mosebar was good, but......
