I saw her live a year ago and it was overwhelming because she has been my favorite singer since the first time she made her debut. Roy orbison said she had "the best pipes in the business". You can't get a better compliment than that.
Since the first time I ever heard her voice I've found a way to let go of all the bad things from my days. This woman has been blessed with the gift of a voice that is unique and healing. She is truly a gifted woman. I will never get tired of listening to her and I hope that she knows and understands just how special her voice is. Ive never heard another that even comes close to the power and tranquility of hers. May her star forever shine

I caught one of her songs last night flipping through TV channels... and I realized that she has one of the most amazing voices I have ever heard... her phrasing and sense of timing for each verse is spectacular! VERY VERY under-rated, and yes probably because she doesn't look like Britney Spears... such a shame..... KD, you are one amazing singer, girl!!

KD has been a standard in my music library nearly thirty years. She has this unique style, wit, and honesty that rings true in her music. I don't really understand what grabs me about her music, only that it does, does it really matter? I can't imagine with her gift, her not singing...what a loss for one and all. I have never been concerned, or cared about what clothing, food, or other life choices she chooses...her voice has just been a whisper and proclamation in my ears. Thank you Miss L
She should have, but time will tell. Someone with her talent will be a legend. When she's gone, they'll recognize just how great and powerful she was. Aren't we lucky that we recognize it now and have enjoyed it in our lifetime.
I remember buying this CD, in my 20s, in the early 90s, thinking of my father, who grew up on a farm in Minnesota: The lyrics, in my heart forever: "like this galloping, inside of me"...and I was, and am, a straight woman, loving kd lang, ..."tall, in the saddle"...I will always love these country images...and love kd forever...

"Tall in the saddle", I am, because my dad grew up on a farm in Minnesota in the 1920s. I love this song and always will, because it represents a farm upbringing I never had, but which my father had in the early 20th century. Thank you, Kathryn Dawn Lang.
I think of Kathy the way I think of Rosemary Clooney and Neil Diamond. Anything she chooses to sing is just impeccable.

@sean3415 The first time I saw her in concert was in 1991 in Chicago-She sang "Crying" and when she was done, you could have heard a pin drop in that theatre for a few seconds -then the crowd lept to their feet in the most thunderous applause I have ever heard. The single best concert moment of my life-I'll never forget it.

KD is far to good to have just been country. Traditional country music is a establishment when it comes down to it, in order to stay in that genre you have to be indebted to the sound & it's fan base, pretty much play the part and kiss ass at the Opry, she would have been shut out of there pretty fast after coming out as a lesbian, look happened to Chely Wright. KD not only has one of the best voices in music, she also has one of the most unique personalities, which makes her so stand alone.

Kevin, I don't think being gay hurt kd professionally at all. If anything, it might have somewhat helped her---from a certain curiosity about her androgyny. And in 2013, I don't think it hurts her career in the least. by the way, her beloved Canada has had full gay marriage for almost 10 years now:)
