"Dozens of hours a week" meaning at least 24 hours a week. And utilizing 12 hours of practice/play a day would mean they aren't getting enough sleep and probably aren't eating well, socializing and getting other hobbies/diversions in :(
Lofty Firstly they do get enough sleep. Most pros don't sleep more than 6-8 hours and food is already cooked for them. There simply are no other hobby's if you are an export athelethe just like other athletes don't really have hobby's. Interest yes, but time to make it a hobby, no!
this channel is really growing on me. I love the way they do interviews (I don't mind reading the question) and I love that you guys are expanding to other aspects of gaming. keep it up!!
i actually had or rather still have carpal tunnel syndrome, its not nearly as bad as it was a year ago though. the pain was so bad i couldnt sleep at times. take care of yourselves guys
Well i didn't went to the doctor because it was like a lower stage. Half a year it hurt really bad but the other half it started to not hurt so bad and it happend less. Try to maintain your elbows and wrist STRAIGHT while staying at the pc, because this is really important. This is what most likely what caused it in most cases. Take some breaks from the pc to put a bag of ice on the wrists and stay like that for a couple of minutes. And i used some kind of cream i don't know how it's called but it's suppoed to make your wrist feel really warm like it's almost burning and that helps with the infalmation. Try these tips and it may help you get rid of it faster. Edit: And to help with that i actually got a new chiar with adjustable arms to help me maintain my arms at the same level as the desk.
#1, verify your diagnosis with both Google, MD, and another physician. I have had individuals tell me their doctor diagnosed them with carpal tunnel, when they absolutely did not have it. But some doctors are lazy, stupid shits and will give buzz word diagnoses because it's more comfortable for patients; patients feel like they understand their condition, and they don't ask questions. #2, myofascial release of the forearm flexors and flexor retinaculum. Muscular release and stretch of pronator teres. Extensors should be worked too, but not as critical. #3, laser therapy directed at the carpal tunnel, passage through pronator teres, and cervical nerve roots. #4, gentle forearm flexor stretching exercises daily Significant relief of symptoms should not take more than a month with weekly treatments, though symptoms may increase initially after the first treatment.
Please add subtitles to your videos for the hearing impaired. I love your content and want to be able to enjoy more of it. I hope this isn't too much to ask for.

My father had carpal tunnel problems and was operated. It healed in a few weeks and he doesn't have any more issues since then. I think an operation isn't the most common way yet, but according to my father it worked out very well for him.
For almost 4 years I thought I was developing carpal tunnel. Progressively my gaming sessions with friends got shorter and less enjoyable. I'm no pro, but gaming is part of my lifestyle so I was really distressed at the thought that I may have to give it up. I tried all sorts of posture correction in my wrist from wearing wrist braces to buying a better desk. Nothing reduced the pain, until the 3rd year when the shoulder pain I had developed from swimming began to ruin my favorite traditional sport as well. This time I did not hesitate to go to a doctor and look into physical therapy. I was lucky that nothing was actually damaged inside if my shoulder, but the muscles in my neck and back were chronically very tense. This turned out not only to be causing my shoulder pain, but also pinching the nerves in my shoulder that run down my arm and into my hand, thus causing the issues I was experiencing. After that I bought a new chair with removable arm rests to encourage myself not to lean on my right arm and allow it to relax. I adjusted my stroke in swimming as well to be less intense on the wrong parts of my shoulder. Now I still have a little lingering discomfort, but I get to swim and play games to my hearts content. Moral of the wall o' text: If you think you have carpal tunnel, but you can't seem to treat it, check out your shoulder too. I found that everything from swimming, the desks at my school, my homework/gaming desk, and my favorite traditional sport all contributed to an unhealthy chronic tenseness in my shoulder, that causes me to experience many of the symptoms of carpal tunnel, even now after treatment because I let it get so severe before I managed to figure the issue out.
Blitz Esports I love you so much, this was such a well timed video. Lately I've been having wrist pains from the long hours I put into league most likely, and I was worrying that it could be Carpal Tunnel
I was feeling numbness in my left pinkie and ring finger, a few days later while i was playing overwatch with friends, I began feeling sharp pains in my wrist that hurt like hell. I began to do stretches in between loading screens and got a wrist support, and now my wrist feels perfect

So if there's been extra strain on your wrists like extended gaming weekends, interstate drives, etc, take a break for at least a few days. Better than being forced to take a break for a few months.
I was playing basketball (finals) I was dribbling the ball while I was running and I suddenly tripped and to grab myself I kept my left and right hand infront of me. Since the ground was rough my knee got hurt as well, It started bleeding and my right was paining so badly some where near my wrist, because of my knee I wasn't able to get up. I was in so much pain, that I had to stop playing sports/video games because of my hand. Most of the work was done by my left hand (such as typing, eating, drinking, etc)Sadly I'm not a lefty. So then I started searching on the internet about wrist pain and how to stop it. Found this video and It made me understand perfectly.Thanks.
"The problem is that people brush their pain off and dont act upon it" later in the video "Dont fear kids most of the times its only minor pain you can just brush it off" WHAT DO I BELIEVE NOW ?????
i used to play CSGO & other competitive games. at least 12 hours a day. It was really bad. I use to lose feeling in the tip of my fingers if i shook them. If i closed my eyes i used to see flashing lights. ect. For reasons i’ve been free of computer games for 2 1/2 months now. And i feel much better. The addiction was strong for about 5 years. And it only took me about a month to get rid of the extreme urge to play.
The most important thing is not ignoring it IMO. I made the mistake of brushing everything off until it got worse. If you have pain or discomfort, adjust your sitting posture, take more breaks and stretch. Make this a habit and you'll be gucci
I remember a year and a half ago I think I started to develop early carpal tunnel from playing to much CS. Luckily for me my parents banned me from my PC for 2 months due to bad grades and I haven't had a problem since
This is something I've been struggling with for the past year and a half. It's limited my gaming so much over this time. I even basically quit playing from Christmas to early March this year. I haven't gone to the doctor since I don't have insurance. But I've tried multiple things to try to fix my wrist. I take anti-inflammatories, wear a wrist brace at night, got a mouse that's supposed to be more ergonomic, and been trying to work on my posture. Sometimes I feel I'm making some progress, but I'm not sure.
Go to a chiropractor! my carpel tunnel was so bad I could only take one game of CSGO before i had to stop playing games for the day now my carpel tunnel is completely gone
that's what i tought too you will eventually get rid of it try to put ice on your wrists when it hurts and apply some type of cream that warms your wrists (helps a lot but i forgot how that type of cream is called)
My wrist hurt and the pain wouldn't go until I'm asleep. On the next day, the pain is gone. Knowing that I fix my posture, keyboard position, etc. It's already 4 days and I'm fine.
There's a bone which seems projected along my wrist, when i turn my hand at 90 degrees downward, it's easy visible.. touching or putting pressure on it causes pain. Also i can't stretch my hand backwards (turn it 90 degrees upward) or do a handstand or push-ups, cause it's painful. I have been taking Calcium tabs, hoping it'll fix soon.
You guys should look into mindfulness training(meditation) and gaming. I personally think if someone is an esport athlete they should meditate at least 20 minutes a day as it strenghtens focus, impulse control etc.
Why do they say that the problem is that young players brush off their pains in the wrist but then they say that most times it actually just is nothing serious?
Carpal tunnel syndrome isn't the only kind of repetitive strain injury you can get - my computer habits led to me developing tendinosis earlier this year. Tendinosis is a degenerative condition that is treated with frequent stretches and weeks or months of rest, and anti-inflammatory medicine actually slows down the healing process. You should examine your symptoms and make sure you don't assume you have the wrong condition.
41. Gamer my whole life. Just diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Literally a life changer. Posture, weight control and nutrition play large roles. Believe me - you don't want this guys. I'm "poking" the keyboard right now. Right hand fingers from middle to pinky numb and unable to grip anything. Little stuff like this gets taken for granted.
I have/had CTS in both wrists for years and I undergone many treatments. Eventually I had a surgery for my keyboard hand that eliminated many of my issues. I still have issues with my mouse hand and did not had a surgery yet. Using a vertical mouse really reduced many of the issues I had. I wish there would be vertical gamine mice though...
I need help... every time i wake up in the morning, my ring finger on my right hand has trouble opening. My ring finger jumps from barely open to completely open along with pain when I try extending my fingers. Throughout the day the problem goes away and wearing a wrist brace in the night seems to help. Anyone know what it is?
I havent been able to play properly in years, after 10 mins my hands start to feel dead/weak and then it feels like they are cramping and feel stiff , i cant stop constant fidgeting trying to adjust my grip due to the aches, i find resting my hands im warm soapy water helps but after 10 mins the problems arise again, I've been gaming almost every day for 10 years , problems started a couple years ago Is any of these systems or not?
I'm studying Animation and I love gaming and drawing, but CT makes it so hard. At its best, the pain is minor and there's only numbness and subtle tingly pain. But at its worst, the pain goes from my ring finger down to my forearm, with extreme pain around my wrist and numbness a little further down, and so much weakness in my hand I can barely close it into a fist. I can barely draw for thirty minutes before I stop because the pain becomes almost unbearable, sometimes I can't sleep and I can't play certain games the way I used to even though I'm learning how to aim with my arm and not wrist. It's a pretty shitty pain.
Carpel tunnel syndrome is not an overuse injury, tendinitis is. I would frequently have pain from playing EverQuest and WoW, so I went to the specialist to be checked for carpel tunnel syndrome. The test involved having electric needles put into the muscles of my hand and having me flex those muscles in a specific manner. I tested negative, and yes it sucked. Essentially the point is that carpel tunnel syndrome is often not the issue, but it is the term that people know, and the symptoms are pretty similar.
I have weird hard thing in my hand that my left hand doesn't have don't know how to say it... and sometimes when I play very rarely I get pain on my right vein like its gonna fucking explode and I see how the vein is pumping the blood at the same beat as my heart. Do I need to worry?
I can't play guitar longer than 5 minutes now because of carpal tunnel. Hurts too much. Everyday I wake up in the morning, and my hand is numb, and my wrist is hurting. It's horrible.

I'm so happy that the competitive game I play is Smash but if there's people out there w/ this kind of pain I hope you're doing fine rn
i used to play CSGO & other competitive games. at least 12 hours a day. It was really bad. I use to lose feeling in the tip of my fingers if i shook them. If i closed my eyes i used to see flashing lights. ect. For reasons i’ve been free of computer games for 2 1/2 months now. And i feel much better. The addiction was strong for about 5 years. And it only took me about a month to get rid of the extreme urge to play.
so this is why my hand had to be amputated ty for the advice i will be sure to tell my self this in my next life.
My hands feel weird when I think in my head and say "what If my hands feel weird again"
Similar things happen to runners where something in their legs are being strained from activity and they must retire because the can't compete.
The most important thing is not ignoring it IMO. I made the mistake of brushing everything off until it got worse. If you have pain or discomfort, adjust your sitting posture, take more breaks and stretch. Make this a habit and you'll be gucci
Going through it right now, effecting my day to day. Cant open and close my hand like I used to. Even texting this message feels bad
I remember a year and a half ago I think I started to develop early carpal tunnel from playing to much CS. Luckily for me my parents banned me from my PC for 2 months due to bad grades and I haven't had a problem since
good video makes me feel somewhat more secure, one of the many unanswered questions of life.
I never get any pain and I play for hours a day, could playing violin for 10 years since I was very young be a reason I don't get wrist pain easily?
This is something I've been struggling with for the past year and a half. It's limited my gaming so much over this time. I even basically quit playing from Christmas to early March this year. I haven't gone to the doctor since I don't have insurance. But I've tried multiple things to try to fix my wrist. I take anti-inflammatories, wear a wrist brace at night, got a mouse that's supposed to be more ergonomic, and been trying to work on my posture. Sometimes I feel I'm making some progress, but I'm not sure.
Go to a chiropractor! my carpel tunnel was so bad I could only take one game of CSGO before i had to stop playing games for the day now my carpel tunnel is completely gone
just go out sometimes. fuck gaming
that's what i tought too
you will eventually get rid of it
try to put ice on your wrists when it hurts and apply some type of cream that warms your wrists (helps a lot but i forgot how that type of cream is called)
Do I go to a doctor or chiropractor?
Do exercise and weights
My wrist hurt and the pain wouldn't go until I'm asleep. On the next day, the pain is gone. Knowing that I fix my posture, keyboard position, etc. It's already 4 days and I'm fine.
Would love to hear more from Matt Hwu :)
Anyone know where i can get one of the braces shown in the video?
I'mw ondering the same thing, from the 3:58 mark.
Does that guy have the condition?
how about letting us know what techniques should be implemented? what postures maybe?
by burning do you mean you believe there is extreme heat in your hand or that there actually is extreme heat in your hand?
The wrist accessories I need what is the name can someone help thanks
*41 as in I'm 41.
me too i cant even play anymore league of legends my hand is fucked its fucking depressing
If I have a burn on my like wrist and like a bit burn pain do I have the syndrome?
when you are now terrified o getting carpal tunnel.
I'm starting to get carpal tunnel I play Xbox is it possible to heal from carpal tunnel?
Got some tingly feeling in my wrist while in a league game searched it up and this popped up.
I havent been able to play properly in years, after 10 mins my hands start to feel dead/weak and then it feels like they are cramping and feel stiff , i cant stop constant fidgeting trying to adjust my grip due to the aches, i find resting my hands im warm soapy water helps but after 10 mins the problems arise again,
I've been gaming almost every day for 10 years , problems started a couple years ago
Is any of these systems or not?
Hey try our exercises here, hope they help you: ruclips.net/video/Mlvu7jlmt5A/видео.html
can someone recommend me a brace for my wrist like in the video i can´t find them and i really need one
Essentially the point is that carpel tunnel syndrome is often not the issue, but it is the term that people know, and the symptoms are pretty similar.
ive been playing smash bros 4 on the 3ds and after each session my thumb not the tip but the lower joint of it has been hurting after i play
Love you Guys work. Thanks for the Important informations.
Other than fixing my posture how can I prevent CT?
If you guys are looking for some content to make before summer split, the rise of GAM at MSI would be an extremely fun vid :)
For a while, my pinkey had gone numb for about a year after I got a new setup, could that be carpel tunnel?
I have weird hard thing in my hand that my left hand doesn't have don't know how to say it... and sometimes when I play very rarely I get pain on my right vein like its gonna fucking explode and I see how the vein is pumping the blood at the same beat as my heart. Do I need to worry?
This video was so great thank you
I can't play guitar longer than 5 minutes now because of carpal tunnel. Hurts too much. Everyday I wake up in the morning, and my hand is numb, and my wrist is hurting. It's horrible.
i broke my radius and my ulna in my wrist 2 weeks ago and I'm experiencing all of these symptoms now I'm shook
I use an xbox controller and the botom of my thumbs hurt someone help is it bad?
And that's why you do hand mouse movements, not wrist.
If you feel a sharp pain in your shoulders and elbow when u move ur hand too fast or too much is that a symptol
Just take a rest if you feel pain in your wrist. Don't be stupid.
I can't help thinking this channel only exists to promote your app, reminds me of Casey Neistat. But hey, as long as you keep making quality content, I'll keep watching!
Haha, we spend waaayy too much time on our content for it to exist only to promote the app. We put a lot of effort and resources into both, so of course we want each one to promote the other. Our content features our app, and our app features our content, and we're really proud of both. :)
My arm just Feels Weird and annoyed, it is like this all the time, but i can feel it more when playing, what is it?
