He was, if you lie to yourself and say he was American, but Denys was English, and Redford couldn't even fake it. They should have hired a British actor.
@@zyxw2000 Since you have strong feelings about an American in the role, I thought perhaps there was a British actor you would have preferred. I loved Redford in the role and I don’t think his being American detracted in any way. It’s hard to believe the movie came out in 1985! I saw this on a huge screen with surround sound and was thoroughly transported. Breathtaking cinematography!
@@billurban1581 Yes, whenever I hear the music it touches me in a way that brings so much emotion, felt throughout the movie, rushing into my heart all at once. It soars and it soothes... If that makes any sense.
Alas, time moves ever forward, and it's 2024. The world is a dark place with dark forces and lost lives. 1985 was a good time in life. Too bad it sucks now. Life could be so beautiful if people would return to their regular lives without gadgets and technology. Humans need love and compassion in their truest form.
There is a scene in the movie where she tells him, and he says that he never catches anything, like he’s invincible. It’s strange, but somehow the movie works. 🤷🏻♀️
@@AlaskaWRX907it’s actually a true fact that he didn’t get sick, so he didn’t know he had it until she got it and told him. If you’re referring to Dennys, she told him that she had been cured before they were intimate.
"I did; she said 'yes'." Redford was such a BOSS in this movie and at the peak of his gorgeousness!

@@zyxw2000 I always wondered about that! It never clicked that sounds like he's from the US.
@@zyxw2000
And the British actor you would have liked to play him?
@@bevturner2258 Don't know. It was 40 years ago.

Hold still.

This movie has the most beautiful music score.
It's used in Dances with Wolves
One of my favorite movies and movie scores.
Same guy wrote music for Dances with Wolves.
My favorite movie of all time. I’ve watched it so many times I know every line. “Rose-Lipt Maiden…Lightfoot Lad”…

a lovely film I love the chemistry between Redford and Streep R.R. so laconic sexy and smart perfect for this part.
But Denys was an upper-crust Englishman.
Totally agree , dumbfounded
He could pass as brad pit father..
Better than that.
I just noticed the dialogue at 1:49 is different than in the movie’s trailer, it misses out "and that you’re alone now"
Actually, coffee is now grown in Africa, very strong coffee, but the climate or soil in Karen's area was all wrong.
Lovely movie, despite Redford's miscasting as a titled Englishman.
❤
