- Koreans talk to themselves (called 혼잣말) very differently than English speakers, and we highlighted some of these main differences along with tips for how to sound more natural when using 혼잣말.

I would see kdrama characters talking to themselves too and thought it was a really strange way to move the plot and explain the story so explicitly to the audience.😂
Wow I've always talked to myself since I was a kid. born in the states. Yea I would get weird looks and comments but I never understood why it was considered weird. Comes very natural to me
Honestly, I don't see why that's weird. Everyone I know does that & I'm also from the states.

Thinking out loud helps me process my thoughts. I am AuDHD tho so it takes more intention for me to process my own thoughts and actions, just like it takes more intention and energy to process other people's words and my responses to others in conversations.
Lol, I'll fit right in when I visit Seoul. I have a habit of talking to myself (full conversations, even) whether I'm at home, at work, at the store...pretty much everywhere, and I usually don't realize I'm doing it. Very insightful video. Thanks!!

I always think that Koreans are constantly giving you status updates like the original Facebook updates in 2005, that was kind of the precursor to twitter.
Also, '아! 똥 마려' is my student's favourite. TMI!
In my country usually only the old people talk to themselves out loud and we usually say "As long as you do it deliberately you are not crazy" so every time we do it without realizing being alone or with pets we think "am I crazy?" haha I've recently tried to not care thanks to korean influence and now I talk out loud without realizing while doing coding projects for university and when I'm with someone they look at me weird or say "can you please not talk?" haha
On social media I’ve seen people type 나는, 내… and then in the same sentence end it with 요, 입니다, etc. Is there some kind of rule for SNS말 that I can’t quite figure out?

Hmm, i guess i haven't explored slang/swear words much ...so saying, "are you crazy?" is considered swearing?

I always talk to myself in both my native language and english. There is this korean words that become my 'habit'(?) when i talk to myself after learn korean '아 자쯩나!!' '배고파' '피군해 😩' but usually when i'm with anyone, the 혼잣말 is all in my mind 😅 i don't say it out loud
I have this experience when I was on a subway, and a lady sat next to me. I think she said something like "아.. 너무 덥다" and started to fan herself. I guess in summer that's the most often heard 혼잣말? 😆

I never knew this, i mean i do watch a lot of Korean videos and hear a lot of people being like " Ah right" and stuff, but i didnt know that it was this common
I do this all the time but only around family or when I'm alone, I'll react to things out loud, or while trying to decide something.
like I'll say, "ugh!" "oh!" "I'm so hungryyy." or "so annoying..."
Though, I don't know many other people who do this, except my uncle who will argue with people in the videos he watches lol.
So much of commenting on the weather. I lived in Korea long enough that I do it now. You only rarely talk about the weather in English, but man, Koreans love to just mumble about the weather. Too hot? Too cold? Windy? Beautiful?
This video explains alot to me and why I am always talking to myself. Is there a video/Could you please make a video about ieung(no sound) and lrile (l/r sound) that explains when which sound is made? I know ieung can make alot of sounds depending on the position it is in. An example is 실례합니다 or when ieung becomes mieung.

Americans very well talk to themselves. lol 😂I do. Usually when alone though if at home. lol. Not in public.
