A Little Life turned out to be one of those books that slayed me. I felt a connection to both of the main characters and was basically ugly crying the last quarter of it. It is not just the horrible events but also how the characters react to them. It is the type of novel where one needs an emotional hook to get the best out of it. And lucky for me that I did because despite all the deep deep sadness and hopelessness it was a great reading experience.

So with Daisy Jones, Evelyn Hugo was definitely way better - I think you're smart for going for the audio book. The format it's written in definitely detracted from my overall enjoyment. I'm currently on the library waiting list to get the audio book to compare. But it was an enjoyable book!

This is only the second video of yours I've seen so I'm still getting a feel for your reading choices but with that being said I LOVED reading Seveneves. I really enjoy hard science fiction where there's a problem and how through science and technology that problem can be solved and this one was one of those books. The book is huge but doesn't feel bloated. I really enjoyed the science in it and it felt like this could really happen. I am enjoying your videos so far. You have gained a subscriber.

Please please please only read A Little Life when you’re really feeling it!! It was my favourite one last year and my mom just read it and she really didn’t like it. This led to very interesting discussions tho...but you really need to be in the mood! And DONT expect a realistic sad life story! All of the characters are at the peak of they’re supposed to be and are like the epitome of their roles. I’m really interested in your review tho 🙈

I think I've mentioned this earlier but I don't usually plan my reading beforehand because I'm such a mood reader. But for June my one big goal is to read and finish The Stand by Stephen King.. :D It's the next book in the publication order that I'm reading his works. I already felt like I was getting some kind of a flu so I think the book is doing it's magic :D
I would also like to (finally) finish A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin. I have been reading it since March and I was supposed to get it finished in April but then my life got too busy. So these two big books are my priority. I will go to my boyfriend's uncle's summer cottage for midsummer party so I think I'll take a few shorter and ligther books there with me, instead of The Stand. I have a huge pile of library books that I need to read so I guess I'll pick something from there. But I'll still try to finish The Stand in June or at least in the beginning of July!
I hope you'll finish all those big books in your summer tbr! I really want to read A Little Life some say in the future. The Tattooist of Auschwitz sounds so good! I would also like to start reading Liane Moriarty's books, I already own three of them but haven't read any... :"D In August I'll read some books located in Italy or written by italian authors because I'll travel to Italy in August. So there is kind of a theme in that month.

I loved Shadow of Self so much (and Bands of Mourning, and I need the last book in this era to come out soon), so I hope you enjoy it. I've got Abaddon's Gate (book three from the Expanse series) on my TBR for this month, and then a bunch of chick lit and contemporary ya because it's summertime, I've basically read non-stop sci-fi and fantasy through winter and spring, and I just want some feel good fluff in my life. I want to fit The Way of Kings, King of Scars, the last two books in the Broken Earth trilogy, the rest of the Expanse series, and Cosgrave in this summer, but honestly, I don't know that I'm going to get to any of them until the fall because I'm just about over sci-fi and fantasy for the moment, but we'll see.

Wow!! Great minds think alike. I just checked out The Sparrow from my library because the premise was so intriguing. I also got The Poppy War.

go into how to stop time with low expectations; it’s not as good as the humans so it was a bit of a let down in comparison. also gave me pretty strong “15 first lives of harry august” vibes, but again not done as well, so i’d say still read it, but don’t expect greatness from it.

I feel exactly the same as you with summer being the perfect time to catch on my TBR. Good luck with your summer reading! :)

Seveneves is weirdly paced, but I still think about it, it was so good! Hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as me.

I think I will join you in some of these. A little life, Foundryside, Shadows of Self and Hyperion have been on my tbr for some time so I should just read them already

Ooh. Okay, so for the knife of never letting go, I recommend the Audiobook. I think that it's probably the way to go considering all of the spelling mistakes, and I remember liking the audiobook version a lot

I've heard that but my library doesn't have it so I'll stick to my physical copy sadly haha Hopefully it doesn't bother me too much!

I thought the plot was a bit weak with Daisy Jones compared to Evelyn Hugo. Still very enjoyable as an audiobook and would recommend but it’s no Evelyn. You need to read Eleanor Olyphant is completely fine. I loved it as an audiobook!
