Great video I hve watch many auto repair video and I really appreciate the step by step process you went through. The audio faded out in the last portion but I was still able to barely here it. Great job and thank you.
My 2 back windows roll down on my 2013 kia optima but won't roll up from the main switch but roll up from the back. Do you have an idea of what it could possibly be
You can remove your window motor and it should move up and down but if you do that it will be very hard to put it back because it's going to have a lot of tension
Hi. I have a 2015 Kia Sportage and want to replace the driver side power window main switch. Do I need to take the door panel off or off enough to get access to the power window main switch? Can you remove the power window main switch without taking off the door panel? Thanks.
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE Handy tip for you: Take a fully charged cordless drill with you and a pair of test leads with clips on each one( it helps to know which is positive and negative on that cordless drill battery) and use that cordless battery to test out the 12 volt items you're after. It'll aide you to make a decision as to what parts work, and which ones won't. Wrecking yards usually allow cordless items and they're not that savy about the old hands that come looking for parts.
How were you able to manually roll down the window to line up the bolt with the hole? My window won’t roll down. It’s barely cracked but I’m wondering if I can take it all apart and put it back together with the window rolled all the way up.
You can remove the fasteners from the top but its hard, i remember the window would not stay up so j was able to move it up and down. You can always remove the window motor regulator and it will allow you to move the window down but only do this if your motor is bad because your going to have a hard time putting it back on.
Hi! I have this problem with my Kia Optima SX 2014. It started with the getting down the driver window and when pressing the switch to get it up, the window was going up a bit and then to down. Then I press up again and it was going up. Later that strategy wasn't working and I had to hold the switch so that window go up. Now it went down and dont want to go up. Is in the very bottom and when I press the switch it go up a little little bit when I press the switch and if I press the switch again it goes down to the bottom again. What do you think that could be wrong? Thanks in advance for your answer.

+Devyn Gray yes you need to roll the glass down and pop the rubber seals once you remove them you'll have access to the two Fasteners holding the glass on that's probably what it's keep your panel in.
Thank you for the detailed no frills video... I'm finding these cars are a POS... customer has a 2016 with 15k miles... and both rear window regulators taken a crap.
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE Let's not condemn the maker of the car before we look at the offending part shall we? Heavy Equipment tech here with a number of years behind me on items that go up, down and sideways. Kia, has about the best drive train warranty in the market and with my 02 Optima with 250K on it, it does pretty good. The plastic, is encased in a closed environment with no way to release any of the heat, or for the plastic pieces to be warm during winters. Constant up and down on the window puts stresses on all parts at one pointing time and they will, in time, fail. Kids playing with the switches don't help matters either nor does parking a drink right over the top, of the master switch. The wire rope, ( proper name , small diameter that it is ) will in time, bind and kink , as you held it in your hand and could see it , and eventually snap. Or the plastic guides get chewed to hell and then they simply refuse to be the easy glide they should be. Solution for this situation is: replace both the regulator and the motor as a complete unit. Dorman sells OEM parts that meet or exceed the makers own specs. Practice and time Eric and you'll get it down. Very well done video. Keep at it and teach !

Good work but when teaching, you want to remind people to do it as safe as possible so they do not damage their car. So using plastic pry tool would be best so no one scratches their car. It should be common sense but everyone does not possess it.
Use the right tool for the job you can see where he messed up rhe door panel using a screwdriver spend the 10 dollars for the right stuff and the wire is broken lol people are saying g how great this is him doing it all wrong shade tree mechanics 😂

I believe you should be able to check for screws holding it down or maybe it's just clips but they do come off separately
Pops up separately by itself. Buy a repair manual for that year, make and model ( Haynes) and go for it.
Having similar issues with my 2015 Kia Optima, my only question did you ever found out if the little wire was sold individually
unfortunately no I did not, it would be best to replace it as a unit. the cable gets chewed up and it makes it not useable.
ERICSDIYGARAGE yeah can’t seem to find it anywhere either, probably will replace the whole unit. Thanks anyway and very helpful information
thank you for watching, I would head to a salvage yard if you want to save money but you always run a risk of it having the same issue

Where would I be able to get the wires? Is there a name for them

it depends if you buy it new or you get one from a salvage yard so it would say 60-100 maybe more

Yes it should come together

If your cable is in good shape then you can try to reuse it but if it's not in good shape then it won't work
They usually come as a complete unit, regulator and motor together.
One of my non-driver windows doesn’t work and neither the switch by the window or the master switch makes a sound
Could be a bad window regulator motor
