    what if i add 10cm ease on my hip and use slack foundation, will that make it a trouser foundation? since i gave it ease?, if their crotch extention is calculated based on the hip circumferance me adding ease to hip will also affect the foundation right? i am a bit confused can somebody explain me this please

    • @_nuriamo
      @_nuriamo  2 месяца назад

      There are more things you have to take into account than only the hip ease, like the crotch extension, the crotch depth and the waist line. For example, the trouser foundation has a lower crotch and a lower waistline. Also, the ease should be added at the crotch line instead of the hip line! Having said that, and simplifying as much as possible, you can add these 10cm to the crotch extension and you'll be pretty close to the trouser foundation!☺️

    Is think this is a mistake: 'if you have a big belly, you might have more darts in the front'. From what I know, you're more likely to have none... Like, if you have a tiny waist and big hips, you have a lot of darts. Yeah, mhm. Darts make the circumference smaller at your waist. If you have a big belly, the circumference doesn't need to be smaller! But you will definitely have more/deeper darts at the front if you have really muscular thighs.

      I don't know about anyone else, but my tummy is entirely below my natural waistline. I need darts to get from waist to the widest part of my tummy.

    • @candacedaniel3907
      @candacedaniel3907 3 месяца назад +5

      My understanding of darts has been they allow for curvature. So I would think darts+belly=😊

    • @seekercons4498
      @seekercons4498 3 месяца назад +4

      The purpose of a dart is to remove excess fabric left over from moving from a more curvaceous area to a lesser one. So just saying “if you have a big belly you might want more darts” is only half the story. Because it’s about the difference between the waist/belly and hips. Not just the size of the belly. A larger difference requires more darts.

    • @mirjam3553
      @mirjam3553 3 месяца назад +1

      @@debbieoneill271 Ok, yeah, this makes sense. I've clearly not had enough practice with different bigger bodies. The plus size mannequins we had at school were "straight size, just bigger". I was thinking of the classic 'beer belly' shape because I currently have no idea how I'd make mom's classic pants stay up (she'd like them to hit around her widest part - even elastic would rather roll down!)

    • @kat_thefruitbat
      @kat_thefruitbat 3 месяца назад

      @@debbieoneill271 Exactly. The idea that darts lessen the waist circumference is technically true, but this would only cause a fit issue if you’re self drafting and fail to account for that loss when calculating your finished garment measurements.
