Just a note here: at this point, the guys had little notion about going international. They just wanted to get big in the Asian market-Japan and China-like other kpop groups were doing.
You need to understand that the only reason Kpop albums are available in the West today is because ARMY became big enough and vocal enough to demand BTS CDs be available in stores. Despite BTS being the biggest group on the planet, in 2017 when they appeared at the American Music Awards live on stage, few people outside of the fandom had heard of them. That appearance changed the dynamic immensely. BTS had ushered K-pop into mainstream Western music.
Yes, they had absolutely no idea they were going to go global. They were just surviving and no other idol group had gone global for an extended period of time. You’re looking at them from 2024, but getting on Billboard or being invited to American award shows was unthinkable at that time.
Paldogangsan was made because different regions in Korea used to kinda hate each other, and looked down on when they weren’t from the capital
In the beginning they’re all beefing with each other to decide which region is the best (they’re all from different ones, except for Jungkook and Jimin who are both from Busan).
They all talk in their respective dialects (satoori) which you can recognise if you begin to hear Korean quite often.
In the end, Namjoon (who is born near Seoul and doesn’t have a regional accent) tells them it may sound cringe but they’re all very cool in their own way
He’s the only one who can really tell his opinion because he’s not even part of the debate
So yeah, this was a really cute song about different cultures in their regions and accepting each other
Did I just misunderstood V's region? Isn't it the same as Suga excepts that he's from the rural side while Suga is from the main city? 👀🤔
@@VanefromUruguay Tae was born in Daegu, but he moved to Geochang right after, it’s waaaaaay in the south yes ! Part of the Gyeongsang province. They are pretty far away from each other, and Geochang is almost part of Changwon but I do think officially Geochang is under Daegu
I'm a married man, but we can change that!? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
JK's effect ❤
The language Suga speaks(sings) is facts.
He is fluent in factguese
Theres a explanation of Satori Rap by DKDKTV which I recommend
Also about learning about K-culture; Im from Europe (African orgin) so I didnt know anything about Korea b4 BTS so I learnt a lot from them. Knowing basic Korean words like hyung, noona, unnie, oppa etc makes things a lot easier
Like you said, all their old songs aged but not in a bad way. You can hear that they matured and have more mastery of their skills and broadened them but their discography is so good as a whole! Even their fun songs like Paldogangsan are just bangers
About Paldogangsan, it is about their dialects and the places they come from - they actually use their dialects in the lyrics. Actually, Neuron on j-hope's latest album is in reference to his old dance crew of the same name before joining BTS. And SUGA's Agust D name is SUGA + DT backwards. DT means Deagu Town which is the name of where he grew up - Daegu - and also the name of his old crew called 'D-Town'
Thanks for mentioning D-Town, the rap crew SUGA started in. Just as today he introduces himself as "BTS SUGA", there is another part of him that identifies as "D-Town SUGA", who is quite different, so he turned it around to Agust-D.
@@katherineann8463 D-Town Gloss will be remembered ✨️💜
@@kuroro9949 Yes! I suppose "Agust-D" is a synthesis of old and new.
Bangtan's discography is the best, it's amazing that you're diving deep into it. Thank you!! 💜🤘
I have been a Paldogangsan (Satoori Rap) 's bitch since the first time I heard it all those years ago.
Since you are new to the Korean culture, Satoori means Dialect. The members of BTS come from different parts of SK and each Province has a distinct Dialect and accent. And in this song, they all Rap in the Dialect of their provinces. Hence the name Satoori Rap.
Old bts music was so goood
The best
I find it's really hard to get into kpop without learning at least a little bit (or a lot) about the culture. You can, of course, enjoy the music on it's own, even without understanding the lyrics, because music transcends the language barrier, but the music gets you interested in the artist, so you start to look at other content and without even trying you end up learning so much. I'd even go as far as to say that that aspect of discovery and learning can be part of the appeal.
I have been learning a lot from the Korean culture since 2012, not because of BTS, who I became to know 10 years later... Baby army here.
But let me tell you, thanks to BTS, now I am not afraid to learn the language. I will be learning Korean until I die. 😅
I was never exposed to Korean culture until discovering BTS in 2018. Just from watching their shows, looking up their lyric meanings and interpretations, etc., I have even learned some of the Korean language, history, and culture. It's really cool!
Me too! Since 2018 I’ve changed everything in my life. K dramas, food, skin care. Why’s Korea so cool?
Ahhh i really need you to react to Tomorrow live 😂 tomorrow is definitely probably my favorite of their older songs
I have Jimin as my bias & ALL the other 6 are my bias wreckers at different points XD They are just too good!
Especially now in Chapter 2, they release songs in their own styles, just make me love each one even more
That's something I say to probably 80 % of their songs: "It would be so great if this song had an MV!"
I feel the same. Their songs never get old. It would be awesome if they perform these again live in 2025 🙌🏾
The BTS rap line could have challenged many American rappers at the time, and even more so today when there are so many lame rappers. They may rap in Korean, but they should never be dismissed just because it’s in a different language than English.
Also, RM’s RPWP should have been nominated for a Grammy, but Scammys just overlooked it.
It is really important in a world of misinformation and fake news ARMYs be diligent and do your research before you share/provide information claiming it as facts to other ARMYs when it is easily proven incorrect.
The dates and eligibility periods listed below were copied from the Grammy’s website.
The eligibility period for the 2024 GRAMMYs was for recordings released Oct. 1, 2022, through Sept. 15, 2023. All eligible awards entries must be released within this timeframe.
RPWP didn’t come out until May 2024 after the 2024 Grammy’s took place so it was not eligible for the 2024 Grammy’s.
The eligibility period for the 2025 Grammy’s began on Sept. 16, 2023, and will conclude on Aug. 30, 2024. RPWP will be eligible for 2025 Grammy if BigHit submits it before the submission deadline.
The Recording Academy will host its first round voting period from Oct. 4, 2024, through Oct. 15, 2024. Following the nominations ceremony, the final voting round will occur between Dec. 12, 2024, and Jan. 3, 2025.
BigHit can submit any Albums or Solo work they feel Grammy worthy that was released between Sept. 16, 2023, and Aug. 30, 2024. Besides RPWP, Jimin’s album MUSE being released on July 19, 2024. Jhope Hope on the street that came out on March 29, 2024, JK’s Golden that came out on November 3, 2023, can all be submitted by BigHit for consideration. Unfortunately Layover was released on September 8, 2023 (8 days before the start of the qualifying period, so it doesn’t qualify. But Fri(end)s by V would qualify.
The only other thing BigHit will have to determine is what category they will submit the albums/songs under.
Again I ask to please be a diligent ARMY and fact check your information before you share it. You are more than welcome to fact check the information I fact checked and provided here.
Borahae 💜🫰
They still have a lot of rap in songs, but it is all more smoother and I would say beats now are less "hard" but there are still song hip hop heavy I think you simply listen most to songs with MVs this songs are title tracks or singles, and 90% of time this songs are more mainstream, bc they are to promote album, etc.
Well, I've certainly gotten into the culture and history and am now eagerly awaiting my 2nd trip to S Korea in October for more culture and food. Hopefully, I will pick up some BTS albums, too!! 보라해! 아포방포! 💜
It is like my 4 or 5 favorite album of BTS.
My favorite is "Wings" and "Map of the Soul 7" then "Love Yourself: Tear", then is harder but it would be "The most beautiful moment in life : YOUNG FOREVER", then this one, then Skool love affair and BE, and then rest... List is long.
it’s so hard to choose a favourite bts album, all of them are SOSO good and unique 😭😭
I feel so nostalgic after watching this
Rise/Attack on Bangtan is so fun!!
RM Passion is clear since he was a teenager❤❤
My fav albums are Map Of The Soul: 7 and Love Yourself: Tear. That's still some albums ahead of you :D
I miss when rapline would get to have more minutes and not all three of them combined in 15 seconds 🥲
As you listen to songs without MVs, you should watch a live after the color coded video.
HELL YEAH THIS IS MY FAVORITE ALBUM sadly i dont rly see people talking about it ://
