According to one Weyoun the Vorta were a species that existed before the Founders. I think the Jem Hadar existed too were a species that persecuted the Changelings and the Founders wiped them out except for samples to make clones from.
Given that the Jem Hadar and Vorta were all clones, I always thought if the Dominion won, they would have wiped out the humans, Klingons and Romulans and likely cloned them back as servants.
@@andrewcoulthard-clark ... If you're facing it off the history of clones in the war in sci-fi in particular Star Wars yes that could be true.... The difference is humans any sentient species is going to fight for survival no matter what
Not all Vorta were clones. There was an original Weyoun, for example. Also there were female Vorta, suggesting that the species was intended to create children naturau. Cloning was most likely done to perpetuate talented individuals and to ensure that there were enough supervisors for the entire Jem'Hadar population.
I've always wondered how would Dominion ships looked like in different eras, for example in TOS-TMP, and what events would have unfolded if the Federation made contact with the Dominion earlier
@@soknightsam there is one of the beta novels where Prime Julian goes to the Mirror Dominion to stand trial for killing Mirror Odo, he actually gets a fair judge and it seems the Dominion isn't that bad at all However in another beta novel, the Dominion is even worse (something something even more augmented Jem'hadar and more psychotic Vortas) and discovers the Bajoran Wormhole just as the Terran Rebellion succeeds
F#$&! You got me with the Stargate SG1 reference.... FYI, in the DS9 writers bible its stated that the Dominion knew of the United Federation of Planets for at least 200 before the Sisko discovered the Wormhole. So even if UFP stopped using the Wormhole or going to Gamma Quadrant. The Founders saw the Federation as such a threat, that they had been preparing for those 200 years to finally encounter them. Meaning staying on their side of the 'anomaly' would have not stopped the war. But the Founders thought contact with the UFP would happen some time in 25th or 26th century. So again were planning to use that time to build a massive war machine and begin infiltration and eventual conquest of a UFP that could have possibly spanned the Alpha, Beta and parts of the Gamma and Delta Quadrant as the Dominion predicted. Making it easier to control those areas if the UFP had already pacified them through diplomacy. Its assumed the Founders planned to either develop or steal what ever advanced warp/Quantum Slipstream/transwarp the UFP used to travel so fast throughout the galaxy for their invasion forces. Same with any advanced weapons that might also be developed. Though not stated, many fans think the Founders knew all about the Wormhole for at least as long as they knew about the UFP. But did not expect them to discover it until at least the 25th century, which may have been the case if the Cardassians hadn't ended the Occupation of Bajor/Bajorian space when they did in the late 2370's. Though I don't think the S31 virus was right or should have been done. I understand S31 logic, after Bashir and Dax discovered the Teplan who had been devastated by a Dominion bioweapon, leaving the survivors to slow and literally excoriatingly painful extinction. S31 decided that the Dominion fought with no rules and with unrestricted warfare, because as Changelings thought of themselves as Immortal and untouchable, as true Gods. So S31 developed a virus to not only defeat them, but prove them wrong.
There are a lot of problems with this. I mean, it is already hard tro believe that the Cardassians never bothered to explore the Bajoran system, given it's vast number of habitable planets and moons. But it's even harder to believe that the Dominion knew of the Federation 200 years prior to Sisko finding the wormhole. While a projection could show the possibility of the Federation growing past its borders back then, it's hard to believe they could have estimated the Federation at some point would hyperinflate and grow exponentially for centuries to come.

DS9 is still my favorite series, and I love this channel, so please take this as not an insult, BUT...🤣... trying to sum up this series in 20 minutes is like trying to describe WW II in 5 pages of a high-school history book. I love your humour by the way! I always bust a gut! 🖖😁🤘❤️🇨🇦
btw, did you notice how in Deep Space 9, in most episodes they drop in some "BIg Words" In the episode 'In the Pale Moonlight" where Cisco and Garak plot to get the Romulans to get involved in the war against the Dominion, Garak warns Cisco that the Romulan senator has an ACERBIC attitude towards the Federation. Cisco replied "For having spent the last week with you, I've grown a very thick skin"
Life under the Dominion didn't seem all that bad when you remember that the Star Trek Galaxy is a fairly violent place outside of the Federation. Under the Founders you enjoyed military protection and trade opportunities, and as long as you led a productive life and didn't make waves you got looked after and left alone.
I never did like the galaxy class. It was too big. It was just too big for starship especially one of the Federation and it looks more like an apartment complex in space no however, the defiant class, the sovereign class vessels thumbs up.
I like to think that the Prophets saved the fleet and change the crews minds to be more peaceful to where one day they come to the rescue of the Alpha Quadrant being lead by Benjamin Sisko. Instead of them popping up 40 years later and taking over DS9
At one time or another, every single one of them bar one. It became a rite of passage for Weyouns. Only Weyoun 5 didn't indulge the tradition, and the lack of defect in his genetic code led to him seeking asylum under Odo's wing.
I loved the film theory reference at the end! Thank you so much for that and all the back lore. Except it wasn't the end of the dominion; it was the end pf the dominion, in the alpha and beta quadrants!
Y'know, there's always been one thing that's bugged me about the Dominion War...did nobody think to inform the Dominion that the Alpha Quadrant already had a race of shapeshifters living peacefully alongside the Federation? Y'know, the Elasomorphs depicted in the TNG episode "The Dauphin?" (It's not a _great_ episode, mind you, but it...exists...) Y'know, proof that "solids" and "changelings" could live beside each other and the Federation would leave them alone? I mean, okay, that might've made the whole build up to the war more complicated and drawn out, maybe, but come on!
I could easily see a DS9, or a Picard, episode where that is brought up but it is then exposed that Section 31 or the Romulan government experimented and tortured the Elasomorphs or the the tentacle ones from the animated series/lower decks, and thus "convince" the Founders they were right to want to conquer/destroy all solids.
It was more about the Federation being asked to leave and continuing to invade the Gamma Quadrant--as the Federation felt it was their right and duty to explore other people's space. This is expressly understood in plenty of episodes to include the Visitor where the Dominion left them alone after they stopped invading them.
Didnt mention theres two breeds of jemhadar. You have the Gamma...breed in the gamma quadrant. Then theres the Alphas...breed in the alpha quadrant when the wormhole was mined and the dominion forces no longer getting reinforced. The Alpha are superior and are bettter engineered to fight the differing Alpha quadrant factions. The episode "little ship" goes into detail between the two jemhadar groups.
Hey, could you do a review of an iconic starship and perhaps a relative of the Constitution Class, the Pioneer Class, like the USS Pioneer NCC-1500, a ship from the game Star Trek Online and which also became canon in Star Trek Picard, being one of the ships in the Fleet Museum. She is also one of my favorites, along with the Constitution Class, Defiant Class, Intrepid Class, Crossfield Class and the Galaxy Class.
Mmmm have you forgot about star trek the undiscovered country on the klingon prison planet rura Penthe as There was a changeling there as captain James t kirk called her a chameloid

Ever since I was a kid. I still cringe seeing the Enterprise D run from a retired D-12 Bird of Prey. The Odyssey didn't stand a chance and didn't flee and it was 3v1(runabouts were basically ignored) with modern scout size ships. Compared to 1v1 modern dreadnought against a retired "scout" make it make sense!
Starfleet ships have weak armor compared to the ships of other superpowers. They rely mostly on their shields. Once their shields are down or rendered useless, their hulls are easily damaged. So, a D-12 is capable of taking out a Galaxy class if its shields are useless. That's why the Enterprises were easily damaged with the surprise attacks. The Reliant was able to damage the Enterprise easily and quickly because its shield was down. And the Duras Sisters' Bird of Prey did the same thing to the Enterprise-D because its shield was rendered useless.
The thing that is really ironic is that the changeling became what the solids feared, instead of focusing on proving their worth they became what they hated. Kind of tragic in a way.

The hunters from Tosk were also supposed to be Dominion, they were originally going to be in 'The ship' I believe
The Founders are wise in all things.
Except for strategic thinking, political strategy, diplomacy and tactics. The female Changeling singlehandedly lost the war for the Dominion.
