I have loved this incredible combination of Mendelssohn, Serkin, Ormandy, and the Philadelphia Orchestra for over 50 years of my lifetime. Yes, I can add Opus 40 along with Opus 25. Ausgezeichnet!
The young artists, in whom one sees future stars, begin with Mendelssohn's op 25: Lang Lang, Yuja Wang, A. Dovkan. After that, they don't play it any more.
The interpretation with the "star" Lang Lang is pure show in the pianist's self-presentation. Serkin and Ormandy, on the other hand, play so beautifully.
It gets no better! His touch is like water flowing in a brook.
My favorite pianist. His playing brings out the nuances and character of each piece he plays.
Danke lieber Uli für dieses herrliche Konzert. Schon meine Großtante brachte mir Mendelssohn sehr nahe. Wirklich wunderbar gespielt. Es gibt so viel schöne Musik.
Wonderful playing. Marvellous recording quality too given it’s age.
Fantastic
❤❤❤
Meraviglioso!
ชอบinterpretation ของ Serkinมากๆ no.1 และ 2
Совершенство такое. Просто слов нет.
Not true! Serkin his Mendelssohn concerto is so awful with colorless steely piano sound! The best Mendelssohn Concerto no 1 is Dimitri Bashkirov! Bashkirov the best most beautiful colorful piano sound for Mendelssohn! Bashkirov the best tempos! Bashkirov the melodies are rolling the best way! Bashkirov a class of his own!!
Terrible weno xuxetumare
Mendelsons pianoconcerts are far to easy for modern concert pianists. They cannot show their technique and get bored from the rather conservative musical language. And thus is their interpretation - if they play them at all! The more we must appreciate that a great pianist like Serkin took the playful Mendelsohn serious and brought to live all the beauty there is. I confess I didn´t like the 1. concert until I heard this interpretation.
Could not agree more. (many) modern Pianists mostly think about their technique and forget about musicality. I would think about Lang Lang for example.
Moronic comment.
