The Easy Way to Make a Leather Bag
We wanted to share an easy way to make a leather bag, including a free pattern! We used 6-7oz leather for this leather tote bag, and hand stitched it with waxed poly thread. You can use a saddle stitch, a whip stitch, or even leather lace to sew up your easy leather bag.
We used 10oz leather for the handles of the tote bag but you can get away with 6/7oz if you only have one weight, you just might want to ad a bit of stitching. On the bottom of the bag, we use Chicago screws to attach the corners and this also allows us to use some scrap handle leather to make a corner stiffener piece.
A big thanks to Weaver for sponsoring this video as always, and happy crafting! Хобби
You built another bag like this and you posted the pattern for it then too. I made that bag and my wife carries it every day. I think I will build this one too. I appreciate you sharing your gift.
I'm so glad to hear! We figured it'd be cool to do another version of the bag -- I'm sure you'll make a great version! Happy crafting :)
I'm sorry but I dont see the pattern on website or post
@@masters01010 You didn't watch the video!

Amazing job. Perfect. Beautiful bag. Thank you for video !
Great Songs the people who have no talent and jealous
They have no appreciation of the fine art and workmanship he dedicates to each and every one of his pieces!😊
Not including a free pattern = dislike

God job! And thanks to give the patterns.
I AM from Honduras.
I did something similar 4 a customer, the only difference I can C is I carved the tree of Life into the front pocket. Excellent job. Thanks ✝️⚾🙃
Love this!!!
Thank you for taking the time and creating very informative content. I'd really like to hear the thoughts and opinions from everyone (if Corter Leather can chime in, that would be awesome) on a basic tool setup for a person just starting out. Any other words of wisdom or direction to quality resources would be greatly appreciated.
Linda! Perfeita!👏👏👏
Oh got it you have to take a screen shot of the pattern on the video!!!
Cool Thank you.
❤️ this design. Love the video. Just subbed. 👊🏼
Thanks ! Good video
Just found your channel as I was looking for information to make a bag from my canvas art , do you thing I can modify and use canvas instead of leather?
Your work is awesome and I’ll certainly binge watch the other videos you provide thank you 😊
Спасибо! Очень интересно! Здоровья и радости :)))
When creativity meets talent
Just subbed bro, ur actual god level 😂😂
Great content as usual, can you tell us what weight that leather is? I’ve been making bags with what I have on hand, and it’s usually about 6-7 ounces
😍😍😍beautiful
Looks really nice great work. I just started working with leather. I wanted to ask you if i could stitch the spots where you used the rivets .
Hello, awesome the tote where did you buy the weaver threading punch set. Is there a web site or store where I can find them. Thanks
Very buitiful and smart design. Is it possible to make a briefcase kind of bag with the same kind of design and method??
How far apart are you putting the bottom rivets? And how far apart are the straps? Thanks!
love your videos, what is the best piece of leather for a beginner to get for this project? thank you.
Thankss gonna try this but 1/2 the size!
I love the video but I’m wondering if im the only one who can’t fond the pattern
Hello. I could not find the pattern in the link posted. I love this bag by the way!!
Hello, did you use any glue? For extra reinforcement?
Hi:) Thanks for this video, I really want to make my first leather bag and this would be perfect.
Only thing is that I dont have tools and materials yet and was happy that you put a link about that but it doesnt work. Can you repost link that works?
Can you expand the tote bag and make it wider or lengthen it to make it longer?
I wuv you both! ☺️
Do you think this pattern would be suitable for purse feet?
This might be a specific question, but how would I scale the template down one inch? I can only find 12*24 hides online atm.
Is it okay to use saddle stitch always?
(If I'm not comfortable using dufferent stitch) Thanks
Now I want to make one for my mother.
I love the look of the natural veg tan for all your products. Yummy enough to eat XD
I think you just made me realize my purpose
I love that tote!!!! Thanks for your teaching!!! But I think, I’m blind, I couldn’t see the sizes in the middle of the pattern :( Do someone can help me with that’s sizes? Thanks and regards :)
I'm at the point I can start stitching. I had to figure out where the handles went, I think I put them too close together, as you didn't give a measurement. I used some software that measures things in a photo and will tell you the distance. I used the width of the strap as a reference, it figured out the rest.
Have to wait til daybreak to start pounding out the stitching holes. The hardest part for me was cutting this out, because the piece of leather is so big. But I think I got it done right.
The pattern isn’t on the site currently for this one
Very Good Best
The free pattern is gone...isnt it??? ..greetings
I love this! Do you sell your bags?? I want to make one eventually but for now... can I buy one lol
F*ING AMAZING
Thank u
👍😉. Nice. Thanks.
How would you make this (somewhat) weather proof?
It's beautiful!!!! On the End, do you use any kind of conditioner or oil in the leather? What is the measure of the straps?
Thanks! we burnis the ends with gum trag - and we went with a 14" drop, so the handles are about 32" total length
What glue and brush do you use?
Where do i get the pattern from? I went t the site couldn t find it
Im trying to figure out the Space BETWEEN the straps on the main panels and I am guessing each strap is spaced 3 to 3.5 inches either side from the centerline. Rivets as stated 1.5 inches apart. Is this correct?
Man couldn't dona studio and tool invented video. Indont know what I like best the tools or your bag
Definately would wear it if I had it.
How can I buy the pattern on this bag? I was clicking the site to get the pattern but the pattern is not in the site. Please let me know. Thank you.
Great 👍
A very elegant one... simple and functional...
What's the hide used?
It's Hermann Oak Natural veg tan - there's a link in the description for it as well!
Hey, couldn't find the template for this bag on your website... do you still sell it? Thanks.
no encuentro el patron
me gustaria hacerlo pero no hay forma de encontrarlo
gracias de todas formas por tus tutoriales
hi can it be the pattern is no longer on the web page you re mentioning here above ?
Beautiful bag. At the 3:00 mark, what are you rubbing the edges with?
pjwhaletail just some canvas cloth. 👊🏼- www.rmleathersupply.com/products/premium-canvas-for-burnishing-edges-12x12-inches
Where is the free pattern? Would love to attempt to make this.
Is the pattern still available? I cant find it...
Awesome video! I can't find the pattern
Thank you! ..and watch out your fingers! 5:00
Absolutely beautiful tote bag! I’m definitely making this! Where can I purchase the screw rivets you used for the box corners?
I got them
JuneMarriott Designs where?
Gonzo 3DAN supplies on Etsy
OK...I'm digging these videos but another question. No gluing before sewing? I see you glue other seams in other videos so I'm trying to learn. I so want to do this bag.
you can, but we don't on this design :) there are other bag designs that you do glue though!
Hola. Qué espesor o grosor de cuero utilizan?
Hi, could i check what happened to the free pattern links? Thanks
I do love the look of the tote when constructed this way but stitching it like that just looks like a huge pain in the butt! But, on second thought, it might be worth putting up with so you don't have to wrestle with the bag when trying to flip it right side out because you made it inside out..
It's a bit time consuming, but that's why I like it as well! Nice clean wrinkle-free bag with no need to flip at the end :)
Is this pattern still available? I can’t find it anywhere.
still watching exactly 1 year from now.
