Oiling the back side of bearings is a no no and spraying copper gasket spray on to the block, pistons and bores is never a good idea. You could have easily sprayed the back side of the head gasket.
Thanks for the feedback man! We have since then stopped oiling the back of the bearings as you said and cut back on the copper spray all of our recent builds mostly get the block skimmed so no real reason for the spray anymore. Cheers 🙏
Another good video. Thank you. I fund 1983 BMW 733i with smashed right front corner. The owner is asking 3000$ he said the frame need to adjust it's another 400$ he says. it's auto tranny need front right panel, hood and headlight to replace.
Great vid. I am struggling to find info on m20 b25 engine. Does the m20b23 cylinder head work on a b25 bottom end (does valves touch pistons?) Cannot find a b25 head in my country. My b25 head broke a valve and cracked the head. Any info would helpful.
Wesley thank you very much for the comment! We have never seen a b23 head in person to know if it is interchangeable. What country are you in? We might be able to help you source one! 🙂
@@superbimmerbros Thanks for the reply Im in South Africa. I just compared the two heads basically the combustion chamber of the b23 head has a step that would hit the raised dome of a b25 piston. Looks like either machining the piston or machining the step of the head away. Not sure which would be better.
Hey there! Thank you for the comment! if you are referring to the timing belt and the overall timing of the engine, there is a mark on the cam shaft pulley that lines up with a mark on the cylinder head (this allows the cam and valve train to be in the power stroke cycle position). When the belt is being mounted to the crank and around the oil pump shaft, the crank pulley has a mark that says 0lT that lines up with the line on the timing cover. Both of theese lines must be in the correct position when mounting the belt. The tensioner must be adjusted as well, that is absolutely crucial!
Hey there! To be 100 percent honest with you, we've been doing it that way from the very beginning just to not leave anything dry in the crank case. I'm sure there are some people that don't lube the backside of them too! There are probably other community members here that know much more than we do that can chime in 👍
Caleb! Thanks for the comment. We use the copper spray to help fill in any pitting that can be either found on the block or the cylinder head surface to help reduce the risk of any air expanding in those crevasses after the car runs at normal temp or in a hotter than usual temperature.
Hey bro! This service currently starts at 7k. We send the block out to get bored next size up with new pistons and rings. Cranks are all inspected and turned for next size up if necessary.cylinder head gets completely rebuilt, valves ground and seats cut. New cam in the head with fresh seals, rockers etc. Block gets new gaskets, seals etc. Send an inquiry via Instagram or shoot us an email superbimmerbros@gmail.com 👍
Hey RJ thanks for the comment! So it all comes down to what version motronic you are running. If your car is using some variation of motronic 1.0 your 2 crank triggers will be in the in the transmission bell housing so you'll be fine using that 60-2 crank pulley. However if you're using a later motronic management system such as 1.3, you will need to make sure that the crank pulley is correct for the Car as it uses a front mounted crank position sensor that reads those pulley teeth. Hope this helps! 👍
Hey winter! Thank you for the comment/question. It took us a total of about 3 days to complete this build with probably a few extra hours in between for removal and installation. We are located in Vista CA. Our full address is on Instagram or website superbimmerbros.com 🙏😊
Hi guys I’m in Atlanta ga I’m looking to do a manual swap on my E32 1992 735i can you guide me in the right direction on what I will need for the swap. Thanks
Hey there! Thanks for reaching out! So the M30 manual transmission set up is pretty straightforward however as a disclaimer we have never done the swap in an e32 before but the general process is the same. You will need a clutch pedal assembly, clutch master cylinder, soft line, clutch kit from an e28 535i single mass flywheel and a 260/5 getrag transmission. You can follow this guide www.nmia.com/~dgnrg/page_41.htm it seems to have a lot of great info! It looks like the hardest part will be getting the shaft made. We recommend taking it step by step. Get the transmission and clutch kit first an build around that 🤘 you got this man! 👍
Hey there! Thanks for the comment. We copper coat the block surface on every one of our builds. It fills any imperfections that might cause trouble down the road 👍 has always worked for us

Those cylinders are out of spec. Maximum should be 84.04. This motor will experience blow-by and reduced power. Should have rebored to 84.5 and ran 20 thou pistons + rings.

Depends on what your goals are. Are you just wanting more performance?
