My great grandfather was assigned to Utah Beach on D-Day. Got himself a Purple Heart, Bronze Star with Valor, and a 6 month stay in an Army hospital.
Lots of folks hating on Praesidus, calling these watches “gimmicky” and claiming they’re disrespectful to the veterans who served. For those who don’t know, Praesidus does a ton of outreach and support for the military and veteran community. They gave a bunch of these watches out for free to veterans who attended the D-Day ceremonies this year. The people over at Praesidus show nothing but love and admiration for veterans, and they’re an awesome company to support. It’s awesome to see that they were able to save a piece of a C-47 from the scrapyard, and turn it into something that people can enjoy. Hard to say the watch is disrespectful, when just looking at it will always remind you of the sacrifices and courage of those who fought. Can’t wait to wear mine the next time I jump out of an airplane
Thank you for remembering this day in history, I was in Normandy at the beach for the 70th anniversary what humbling place to visit.
This is a great idea for a watch dial using the sand of the actual location!
I have several Praesidus watches now, I LOVE their watches. I even bought your rec spec from the shop😂
Speaking of, when will it ship?👀
Both are gorgeous and a fitting tribute!
Very nice little watch.
I got the C47 worn patina dial on I ordered… this is super cool 😎.. as a veteran.. and an aviation lover.. this was really cool 😎
You got it wrong on the C47, its says Double Domed Sapphire on their website.
That is actually pretty cool!
Love these.
We still used the c47 in the mid 60s good but noisy. Great looking watch and reminds me of issuued watchs. Good review
buying both for sure!
Right.....these are pretty frakin' cool.
I love this geeky stuff.
Now I need to get one.. 😂
Cool concepts but I prefer my hammy
if the dial was all sand it would look a lot better
I swear the happiness I feel when #mamacoo uploads a video is beyond!!!!
Lost a great uncle in 1944. He died in a concentration camp. He was aged 19. Moral of the story, don't drink and climb the ladder to the watchtower.
I love the C-47 variant, but I hate the darkened faux patina hands. I’d rather have clean and bright hands and markers that are legible and kick butt with lume in lowlight.
I signed up on the site. I want a sand model.
I’m all for remembering our brave soldiers both alive or passed but I’m sorry I don’t believe in making money off of these events in history .
Yup. Unbelievably crass.
Amen
My wife is a total WW2 nerd and she would L-O-V-E this watch, if only it came in a smaller diameter suitable for a woman's wrist.
Are these limited? While there's plenty of sand on the Normandy beaches I imagine that genuine C47 panels have a limited supply, even if the boneyards are raided...
If you get a chance to visit the various D-Day museums in Normandy it's well worth it, they're inspiring if you're interested in WW2. After all, as you say, many soldiers, sailers and airmen died to preserve the freedoms we continue to enjoy.
yeah wall clock is bigger than this wristwatch sir
Better pop on a Bulova field watch just like the 82nd Airborne did in 1944 than this edel kitsch.
#mamacoo 's watch really surprises me!
The sand belongs on the beach, something about taking it for a watch dial hits the wrong way. People lost their lives on that sand, making it a gimmick for a watch is disrespectful
Watches like this are so gimmicky.
