  • This episode of Watches In The Wild finds Cole Pennington and James Stacey on a watch-themed road trip up the west coast from Los Angeles to San Francisco. Hoping to discover the West Coast vibe for watch enthusiasm, they were on the hunt for as much fun and adventure as they could find along the way.
In just a few short days, they saw a big slice of the city and came away as impressed as ever by the personality and depth of enthusiasm throughout Los Angeles. From watches, cars, and even planes, the vibe there is specific, mechanically minded, and keen to collect.

A few years back I met Josh Shapiro at a FedEx Office I was working at in Beverly Hills. As soon as I laid eyes on the watch he was shipping out I knew right away it was special. You could tell by the craftsmanship it was something extraordinary, and he was kind enough to let me see it up close and hold it in my hand to really get a feel for it. He brought in a number of watches since then to ship out and we would always have great conversations about them. He could tell I was enamored of all these beautiful timepieces. It's so great to see how far he's come. Great father, kind human being and a fine watchmaker!

I can admit obsession is definitely linked to collecting. Just bought my first real mechanical/ automatic sinn ezm. 13.1. It’s so much cooler than my g shocks. Crystal so clear. Watches have quirks. And that’s the beauty of them. My first big step only made it worse I think. I guess I’m in to deep?😢
