Came back to this after getting into the Grey Nato pod that Jason hosts with James Stacey. So happy I did, so awesome to see, hear and learn about his collection as well as conservation.
Hard to beat Jason and Jack. Throw James in there. Great episode. More of this please. No hype, no steel bracelet,...just passion, function and a nice informative chat.
Great episode, great watches. I like Jason’s attitude towards watches (and life). A good man. I’m also halfway through Depth Charge and it really is excellent.
I’ve been following Jason for many years now on IG and he always talks about his watches and adventures. He always describes them in his captions, but to hear first hand the stories of his watches, was something else! Great interview!
Cracking episode, one of my favourite for sure. I have listened to every TGN episode (perhaps on several occasions) and every time Jason talks I find him so charming to listen to. Fascinating, genuine and very passionate. It’s a pleasure to watch this episode. Many congratulations on Depth Charge also. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Bravo gents.
Two cool guys having a laid back and interesting conversation. What's not to love? The only thing that could have improved this is some whisky or other fine spirit to go with those watches. Great stuff!
I have noted that the talking watches fall into either collectors with watches that are just interesting in their own right or amazing people's watches that are interesting due to places and event that it has been in. This was one talking watches that I felt had interesting watches and they have been in cool places and events. Kind of best of both worlds!
This is a perfect example of what will your watches say about you in the end? The collection came from a need to tie in to what loves and not from what others think is cool to have.
Goodness I need to get my dive watch wet. Scurfa Diver One 500m with helium escape valve. And I feel better about having a diver on a bund strap. Fabulous interview. Cheers.
Diving with vintage dive watches is very cool and super rare (understandably) This is a great talking watches. Agree that Jack should be *the* talking watches guy.
When I got my submariner I had never worn a watch in the water. After getting this watch I went on my honeymoon and did some snorkeling in the Florida keys and wore my sub for that adventure. It was the most beautiful thing I’ve seen in nature. Seeing all the different fish and life under the water and being able to keep track of how long we had been out there and seeing the watch under the water was completely different than it being on wrist for daily life.
Love, love, love Hodinkee. Can you review or discuss the JLC Master Control Sector. Absolutely LOVE this watch. May be the prettiest watch under $15,000 I've seen. Can't find any for sale anywhere. Why? Is it a limited edition?
Possibly the best talking watches yet. That black dial Doxa is amazing.
Great to see this. I’ll watch, read, or listen to whatever Jason puts out there. Interesting dude, good writer, and seems like a kind human.
My favorite Talking Watches by a mile. Jason is so humble, and his "collection" is just a testament to the life he's living. Great work, guys.
This is Hodinkee at it's best . . . The way it used to be before the corporate monster got it's teeth into them . Let's have more like this.
Well said ! I agree 100%.
And it shows the “corporate monster” can live side by side with an enthusiast site.
Whilst I've been a little jaded with Hodinkee lately, Jack, Jason, and James with content like this keeps me coming back. Great stuff!
Hope this is the beginning of Talking Watches with the entire HODINKEE staff!
Came back to this after getting into the Grey Nato pod that Jason hosts with James Stacey. So happy I did, so awesome to see, hear and learn about his collection as well as conservation.
I love Jason. He seriously is one of my favorite people to listen to. One of the better Talking Watches in a long time.
Taking Tools with Jason Heaton. We need more like this - thank you for giving this Hodinkee team.
An awesome interview. I’m a Grey Nato devotee and this is an amazing insight into Jason’s past and passion.
Love listening to Jason on the grey nato, so nice to see him on talking watches
He doesn’t look like I thought he would.
Any day Hodinkee uploads a Talking Watches is a good day.
Hard to beat Jason and Jack. Throw James in there. Great episode. More of this please. No hype, no steel bracelet,...just passion, function and a nice informative chat.
Saw this title and immediately got WAY too excited for this...
Great episode, great watches. I like Jason’s attitude towards watches (and life). A good man. I’m also halfway through Depth Charge and it really is excellent.
Jack is back....quality is up!!!! this aquastar is amazing
One of the best episodes of Talking Watches - so pure joy in tool watches and the personal stories / history behind. Love it!
This guy was super interesting and well spoken one of the best talking watches yet
I’ve been following Jason for many years now on IG and he always talks about his watches and adventures. He always describes them in his captions, but to hear first hand the stories of his watches, was something else! Great interview!
Wow, best episode yet! What a really interesting, thoughtful and immensely likable guy!
Awesome 👏 Jason is the coolest -- love his style, taste in watches, and writing
Cracking episode, one of my favourite for sure. I have listened to every TGN episode (perhaps on several occasions) and every time Jason talks I find him so charming to listen to. Bravo Hodinkee production team! Going above and beyond to make a Zoom call engaging to watch.
P.S. Power move by Jack rocking that Bulgari Aluminium!
PLEASE INTERVIEW OTHER STAFF MEMBERS HODINKEEE!! They deserve it!
Excellent interview. A reminder that we all come to a passion for watches from a multitude of different perspectives of life experience. 👍
Thoroughly enjoyed this interview and stories behind each watch. I will be picking up a copy of this book.
Saw the title and tripped out with excitement. Yes!!! Well done Hodinkee. Jason is a class act.
If only this was an hour long with Jason’s entire collection…
Authenticity at its finest and with two wonderful and experienced people in their respective fields.
What a great episode. Did anyone else look on eBay for a Citizen Aqualand???😂😂
Yes 😂🤷🏻♂️ and I’ve been Thinking of getting a cwc for couple years and being from wales 🏴 Uk I’ve gotta get one soon.
I love these videos where not so much spec reviewing goes on but stories to go along with some history of the watch
Love it! Yet again a far More interesting episode because of interesting choices of watches rather than just expensive ones.
Let's have more of this format ... If doing it virtually allows more interviews, continue to do it. Expertly done!
A real guy and a real collection! one of the best to date!
Great work to both!
“I got to learn how to dive if not I feel like a poser”
Immediately dons diver and heads to the swimming pool - Me
I think I’m okay with feeling like a poser, personally
Sad but true for us who are using divers as cooking timers and parking meters 🤔
Hope this doesn't apply to every kind of watch. Speedy moon watch owners would be screwed.
Two cool guys having a laid back and interesting conversation. What's not to love?
The only thing that could have improved this is some whisky or other fine spirit to go with those watches. Great stuff!
Love seeing Jason in the spotlight, this is something i’ve really really wanted to see. The Grey Nato but visual!
JASON THE MAN THE MYTH THE LEGEND! Can't wait to watch this
I have noted that the talking watches fall into either collectors with watches that are just interesting in their own right or amazing people's watches that are interesting due to places and event that it has been in. This was one talking watches that I felt had interesting watches and they have been in cool places and events. Kind of best of both worlds!
Lovely collection. Love dive watches that have actually been diving!
Been waiting years for this
Very good. Guest and host - both very eloquent. Thank you!
One of the best interviews I've seen in a while. Keep it up! 👍
Very inspirational people and stories and of course all the watches.... one of the best talking watches ever
I've been waiting for this episode! Two very fine gents - great interview.
Dive watch fan this in now my favorite "Talking with watches"!
Does anyone else pull out there watches and pretend to do an episode of talking watches with your Casio’s, Timex’s, and Seiko alone in your kitchen?
Nice diverse collection. The tudor is stunning!
Great interviewer…equally great interviewee. Starting into Depth Charge this weekend!
This was excellent! Jason is the man! So much passion!
Really spectacular diving experiences w Awesome footage , pure naturalism and adventure. It really doesn't get any better does it. 👍
Such a legend. Enjoyed that immensely
I don’t care who the guest is, if they’re a true enthusiast the content is gold. This is the proof in the pudding!
This was fantastic! Happy to see a Citizen in a collection and I love that his watches are fit for his lifestyle
Truely inspiring! Great collection Jason. The No-date Sub is my unicorn watch.
Enjoyed this one. Noticed a SPOT device on his chest in the mountain climbing photo, that is a neat tool with its tracking feature.
This was outstanding. Jason is a good dude.
Just ordered his book. Can’t wait to read it.
One of the best talking watches!!
great collection and stories. Very refreshing from the usual big brands
Such a great episode of TW. Best one in a while for me.
Love Jason and TGN. Great video
This is a perfect example of what will your watches say about you in the end? The collection came from a need to tie in to what loves and not from what others think is cool to have.
Jason rocks!
That Doxa. Oooft.
Also, nice reference to skorzeny style duelling scars. :)
Vintage diver watches are great to collect. Great episode.
Great content again 😍😍😍👍🏻 So much to learn just from watching this
This is such a great video - well done !!
Another great episode!! Had to pull the trigger on that book last night!
Such a lovely interview.
It's fitting for Heaton to get his own Talking Watches now that he has hung up the watch review gloves. Thoroughly enjoyable as always.
Goodness I need to get my dive watch wet. Scurfa Diver One 500m with helium escape valve. And I feel better about having a diver on a bund strap. Fabulous interview. Cheers.
Great conversation with a thoughtful collector.
Bravo, Jason. Really enjoyed this one!
Great interview! Just bought the book!
How can one not give a like for such a collection
Great collection! And I purchased the book as well, excited to read it.
Best thing on Hodinkee for some time!
Talking watches is very therapeutic
When is Hodinkee going to interview me about my travel clock collection? C’mon guys
I haven’t woken up with mine yet.
A really interesting and educational video. Very enjoyable thank you.
Diving with vintage dive watches is very cool and super rare (understandably)
This is a great talking watches.
Agree that Jack should be *the* talking watches guy.
Man that sub without the bezel looks so cool. I probably wouldve kept the bezel off.
Brilliant interview
Oh that Doxa is absolutely CLASS!
Phenomenal episode.
great video and beautiful timepieces. im surprised he didn't have a Seiko diver.
This is a more familiar Hodinkee kind of video for me. Well done.
9:40 when your watch was almost certainly present at at least one war crime
incredible stories with each watch.
Jason,
Great.collection you have there. Congratulations. What are your thoughts on the deepsea deepblue, second generation? Cheers
Great interview with a fascinating guy 👍
How does the sweeping seconds hand on the Aquastar work? I‘ve only seen that on Spring Drives so far
I want to be like Jason Heaton when I grow up
Nice. dont see him as a collector rather a person that gets something he likes to be used and remembered + create memories.
Love, love, love Hodinkee. Can you review or discuss the JLC Master Control Sector. Absolutely LOVE
this watch. May be the prettiest watch under $15,000 I've seen. Can't
find any for sale anywhere. Why? Is it a limited edition?
Really enjoyable to hear from, and about, a watch "collector" who has their watches for tool and true passion reasons.
Excellent content and great guest 👌🏻
Great episode 👏
