For me it’s Pantera. Saw them three times (96 with White Zombie, 97 Ozzfest, and 99 with Coal Chamber). They absolutely crushed it all three times. They were a force of nature.
Fantomas and Pantera are my top two live shows of any genre. Both the tightest bands you've ever heard. Both electric energy that lasts with you for weeks after.
@Lemmy Winks ; I have to agree with you. That whole Metallica ‘89 thing is a good show but I’d rather see The Who in their heyday. I’ve seen Metallica at the peak of their career and they basically got drunker and drunker as the show went on.
Omg Behemoth is fucking killer live. Saw then in Tucson AZ in this tiny ass little bar they came thru the front door and parted the crowd to get on the stage, they were so damn good.
Iron Maiden shows are just MAGICAL. Maiden played in my home country of India for the first time way back in 2007. But, because I was too you to see them play I wasn't allowed to go. They then played 2 more times the following years. And that was the last time we ever saw them in my country. I had been waiting to see them play again ever since. So, last year (2019) I had had enough. I was waiting no more. So, I flew with my older brother from New Delhi, India to Houston, Texas and finally caught them live on their "Legacy of the Beast" tour and it was the most memorable moment of my life. I waited to see my favourite band for well over 18 years and they were finally playing right in front of me. It made me so emotional that I couldn't hold back my tears by the end. And because we weren't that far behind Janick Gers actually saw me pointed right at me. The crowd was some of the nicest strangers I had ever met. There was an unmarried couple behind us and a middle aged man diagonally behind them. So, he came up to us randomly and patted on our shoulders and started talking to us. That's when we told them that we came from India and the couple behind us heard us and all three of them lost their minds because apparently they had never met anyone such dedicated fans that flew across the Atlantic on an 18 hour flight to see Iron Maiden. We went for drinks afterwards. They were so welcoming and they promised to visit us in India. That was the day we realised that Iron Maiden fans were one GIGANTIC loving family. I will never forget it. Up the IRONS from \INDIA/🇮🇳
Slipknot, Pantera, Killswitch, and Gojira are all amazing live. Best show might have been Slipknot and Mudvayne at the start of their careers. That or Pantera just crushing it.
@Lemmy Winks Hey "dude", it can be any band as "rockers react"... So Iron Maiden and Pantera that are mentioned IN the video aren't mainstream? If I remember correctly, Far Beyond Driven debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart back in 1994. Hmmmmmm 😏
@@sambt123 im in my 20s lmao. There are other bands more brutal, technical and faster, but Metallica had the it factor. Just because its harder doesnt automatically mean its better, but I think it will take a few more years of listening to metal for you to come to that conclusion yourself. Good luck!
Iron Maiden, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, and Rammstein have the best live shows hands down. Personal favorites for me were Testament, Meshuggah and Lamb of God as far as their performances. They don't screw up a single fucking note when they play
Performance wise I would say Gojira (never heard something so fucking tight and crystal clear live) with Meshuggah, for the show and atmosphere I would pick Iron Maiden or Rammstein
@@giacomo2836 you're def right about Gojira. They don't fuck around on stage. Korn doesn't get enough praise in this category either, they barely even talk during their sets...they just come out and rip the whole fucking place apart whilst also barely missing a note. I also love it when bands do improv jams, and Korn has had some really dope ones since The Encounter
Metallica for me is absolutely awesome, just with pure anthems such as the “die!” transitions in Creeping Death. Singing back to Master of Puppets, at their peak those shows looked awesome. Also James is very interactive so that helps as well.
for slipknot their next tour will be the best you can go for, i saw them at budapest this year and they fucking kicked ass even tho the mix was utter garbage and corey was sick it was one of the best shows I've been to
Best metal concert I ever saw was Metallica on the Master of Puppets tour, and Pantera’s Trendkill tour was a close second. All the bands named have amazing live shows, i personally love Gojira Lamb Of God, Metallica, Rob Zombie, Amon Amarth and Slipknot live performances, but to me the best it's RAMMSTEIN hands down.
I saw tool twice on the fear inoculum tour and they were the best shows of my life. Mastodon playing crack the Skye start to finish in 2019 was amazing too
that shit they were doing on the first run of the lateralus tour was insane, with that osseus labyrint performance art weirdness going on. i've never seen shit like that in my life.
Tool is amazing live but are they really considered metal? Their songs have elements of metal music in them but I wouldn't classify them as metal. My favorite band btw.
@@paisan79_13 They are my favourite band too. I genuinely think they are in a genre by themselves but if you had to put them into a single genre it would have to be something within the wide metal sphere. Either prog, or perhaps psychedelic metal? If that’s a thing 😂
First time seeing Pantera on the "War of the Gargantuas" tour showed me a band could sound better live than on a recording. Deftones and White Zombie were awesome, then Pantera came on and destroyed that entire arena.
It’s gotta be Maiden, the crowd participation, live stage presence, Eddie, the costumes Bruce wears, the sets, everything about maiden is the perfect setup for an amazing metal show. I also want to say Metallica, whether it be on their black album tour in places like Milton Keynes & San Diego, justice tour in seattle with lady justice exploding and being destroyed during …AJFA, hell, even the master of puppets tour where Ozzy openly said they blew him out of the water and there were times when he couldn’t outperform them. They’re not nearly as heavy and metal as they once were, but the Alcoholica deserves some recognition
Pantera and more modern I would have to say Dillinger Escape Plan. Those two bands are wide open and going in the pit you're taking your life in your hands because they're were brutal.
I was going to be angry if PANTERA wasn’t mentioned, but they were (still not enough). Kind of a young and limited consensus, but they still mentioned PANTERA, so that shows how well they hold up across generations.
My brother never listened to Pantera in his life. He has been to a shitload of shows and his favorite band is Rush. I got him a ticket to see them on the Far Beyond Driven tour and he bought us both tickets to every subsequent tour they came to town. I’ve seen a lot of great shows but Pantera truly was a new level of power when hitting on all cylinders.
In their prime, nobody could touch Metallica. I'm talking 86-91 era Metallica. They literally went from city to city and killed em all night after night.
Pantera is the best I’ve ever seen live, Slayer is right behind them. Chimaira, Morbid Angel, Fear Factory, Hatebreed,Soulfly, and God Forbid were all awesome as well
Been to many metal shows in the last 20 years but without being biased to my favorite bands, the best/most memorable actual shows (not necessarily best music) were: Slipknot, Rammstein, Avenged Sevenfold, Dimmu Borgir, Iron Maiden, Behemoth & Arch Enemy! Of course seeing Metallica and Black Sabbath were the happiest moments of my life so I can't lost them since if they played horrible I would still say they were the best. PS as far as Glam Metal goes, Motley Crue was a blast!
The best stage show for the times back then in the 80s, was DIOs Sacred Heart tour. The undertaking to make that happen back then was extreme. Fire spitting dragon, lasers, crystal ball with holograms inside, explosions and the whole nine yards. They put everything into it.
You can't be serious? Only tool fans...saw them in 2013 played a 1 hour 20 mins show with a 20min interlude and maynard stood there with a fucking fake chicken on his arm the whole time and barely interacted. I have also seen them on the aenema tour, slightly better, good sound but not a "show". They are nothing compared to Pantera or Maiden... Sorry dude ..your way off on this one.
I disagree, it depends on what you’re going there for and what you want to experience, if you’re there for just the music then Tool has no competitor but if you want crazy stage antics and crowd hype etc then yeah pantera, slipknot, Korn, maiden, slayer and the others are probably what u want

In my opinion in this era Alestorm is the best live band out there. My opinion is not based on big stages, pyrotechnics or extreme shredding skills, but on how much fun it is to be at the concert. It is like a big party where everyone has fun when they are on stage. The bands communication with the audience is superb. You can watch their "Alestorm live in Tilburg" concert on RUclips.
I've been to dozens of shows & the smaller travelling festivals that come around and even though I didn't see them back in this era, 98-2005 Slipknot would be the best show to ever see. Fantomas and Pantera are my top two live shows of any genre. Both the tightest bands you've ever heard. Both electric energy that lasts with you for weeks after.
Fantomas is insane. Saw them open for Tool in 2001 🤯
1991-1994, Pantera, Sepultura, White Zombie, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, ruclips.net/video/6PcFLeJIOFk/видео.html
Metallica Seattle 89. Literally the peak of live music.
Ever seen em in Frisco ... That's where they do their best work
Lemmy Winks, Well maybe you wanna go to a Beyonce concert or something if you wanna see people Dance 😉
Lemmy Winks. You've either never seen Metallica live, or you're talking shit. ruclips.net/video/DqpgMBNdZhU/видео.html
@Lemmy Winks and ... what's your point
@Lemmy Winks ; I have to agree with you. That whole Metallica ‘89 thing is a good show but I’d rather see The Who in their heyday. I’ve seen Metallica at the peak of their career and they basically got drunker and drunker as the show went on.
Slipknot, Motorhead, Pantera, Carach Angren, and Behemoth would be my picks off the top of my head.
*Suicide Silence
Omg Behemoth is fucking killer live. Saw then in Tucson AZ in this tiny ass little bar they came thru the front door and parted the crowd to get on the stage, they were so damn good.
GWAR!!! That’s the most fun I’ve ever had, at least. I don’t know who the best is.
Anyone who doesn't put Gwar probably hasn't been to a concert.
GWAR
Did you see that guys cuttle fish weiner
@@jhamelin119 Sure did. Took one to the face.
Nothing like hearing dime play on a mountain of speakers
Metallica Damaged Justice Tour.
I review metallica albums on my channel if anyone is interested
KoRn, Rammstein, Rob Zombie, Mastodon, Megadeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Slipknot, the list goes on.
Korn for sure, honestly underrated when people mention great live shows lol.
Saw korn and rob zombie together. Korn was fine, rob zombie was god awful.
Hmmmmmm 😏
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah I don’t know about Metallica 🤣
Its gotta be 80s Metallica. Absolutely wild, fast and tight
I review metallica albums on my channel if anyone is interested
these comments just show that no one here likes hard shlt, lots of old people into old metal lmao
This. Rob Zombie wasn’t even mentioned and he very well SHOULD be. His live shows are 2nd to none. Slipknot and Rammstein are right there too.
@@insaned4666 rammstein are the king's of performance. They make kiss look like kindergarteners
Performance wise I would say Gojira (never heard something so fucking tight and crystal clear live) with Meshuggah, for the show and atmosphere I would pick Iron Maiden or Rammstein
@@giacomo2836 bruh rammstein are the best performers since Frank Zappa. It's like a fuckin whole story production when they're on stage.
I review metallica albums on my channel if anyone is interested
Great sound too
Metallica is amazing live, even if Lars can be a bit all over the place at times.
They were amazing!
Yeah but if you seen one Metallica performance you seen them all
I'd love to see Slipknot, Gojira and Meshuggah
I’ve seen slipknot and gojira and they both were amazing
I saw Meshuggah with tesseract and megadeth and meshuggah was way better in terms of performance
I've been luck enough to see all three bands various time. Can't recommend them enough!
Well who knows what will be happening after this shit, I might get a chance to see a couple 😅
for slipknot their next tour will be the best you can go for, i saw them at budapest this year and they fucking kicked ass even tho the mix was utter garbage and corey was sick it was one of the best shows I've been to
Best metal concert I ever saw was Metallica on the Master of Puppets tour, and Pantera’s Trendkill tour was a close second. Hands down the best concert I’ve ever seen was Van Halen’s Fair Warning tour. Mind blowing is an apt description for Eddie’s sound and playing, with Alex’s flaming gong! Insane!!!! As a band, they were so fucking tight! Rip Eddie, Dime, and Vinnie!!!
Rip Cliff Burton! How could you forget Cliff brotha?
Rammstein is like '' am i a joke to you? '' 🧐
Metallica in their prime.
Power trip and sepultura too
I review metallica albums on my channel if anyone is interested
Power Trip is massiv live 🔥
Hell yea power trip
I've never been to a concert but from what I've watched on RUclips I would say
- Slipknot
- Slayer
- Pantera
- Gojira
- Iron Maiden
- Black Sabbath
*I've seen all of them.*
*That's pretty cool to say.*
*For sure go to a concert.*
*Love them.*
U havent seen Rammstein yet then
I’ve never seen pantera live but the fact that you feel the energy from their live shows and people also agreeing is a true testament to how great Pantera is
Slipknot is insane in that there isn't a mosh pit, the crowd becomes one
Literally all of their songs screeeeeaaaam for a mosh pit. With maybe 4 exceptions. That's as heavy as it gets.
Opeth are really freaking impressive given the complexity of their songs I'd say..
Complexity isn't the best part of their music imo. I'd go with meshuggah myself
@@gaborkrausz5402 Yeah meshuggah are fucking sick!
All the bands named have amazing live shows, i personally love Gojira Lamb Of God, Metallica, Rob Zombie, Amon Amarth and Slipknot live performances, but to me the best it's RAMMSTEIN hands down.
I review metallica albums on my channel if anyone is interested
TOOL from 1998-2002 needs a mention. Maynard at his peak and the band was so tight
I saw tool twice on the fear inoculum tour and they were the best shows of my life. Mastodon playing crack the Skye start to finish in 2019 was amazing too
that shit they were doing on the first
run of the lateralus tour was insane, with that osseus labyrint performance art weirdness going on. i've never seen shit like that in my life.
Tool is amazing live but are they really considered metal? Their songs have elements of metal music in them but I wouldn't classify them as metal. My favorite band btw.
@@paisan79_13 I would second this statement
@@paisan79_13 They are my favourite band too. I genuinely think they are in a genre by themselves but if you had to put them into a single genre it would have to be something within the wide metal sphere. Either prog, or perhaps psychedelic metal? If that’s a thing 😂
The Dillinger Escape Plan. Hands down.
Bud?
Absolutely!!! Best shows ever!
First time seeing Pantera on the "War of the Gargantuas" tour showed me a band could sound better live than on a recording. Deftones and White Zombie were awesome, then Pantera came on and destroyed that entire arena.
Alot of people hate on them sometimes but Trivium is probably the tightest band I've ever seen live. Everytime I see them they sound so good
It’s gotta be Maiden, the crowd participation, live stage presence, Eddie, the costumes Bruce wears, the sets, everything about maiden is the perfect setup for an amazing metal show.
Korn for me. Iv seen them countless times and every time iv seen them they killed it. Still get goosebumps when i hear the opening for blind.
For pure craziness, I wish I had a Time Machine to see The Dillinger Escape Plan back in their peak
*RAMMSTEIN.*
PanterA and 99 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 Slipknot
YES
2001 Slipknot. Iowa era.
Rammstein. Enough pyro to burn your eyebrows off at 200ft
I think Tool is the best live metal band, I was at their Fear Inoculum concert in Tacoma earlier this year and they were amazing live.
Oh my god that was the best live show I’ve ever seen
Thank you. I thought I was an island.👊🏿
Really think Dillinger should be mentioned
fuck it! lets do it live!!
yes dude. ben is nuts live
I used Lars in a presentation for school and everyone was like what is this death metal I was like 😑. Just shut up 🤣.
In their prime, nobody could touch Metallica. I'm talking 86-91 era Metallica. They literally went from city to city and killed em all night after night.
word
Goddamn right!
Best live Band, Pantera. Best live Show, GWAR
Pantera hands down 96 when I saw them. The riffs and the rhythm they played with. just the best band to bang your head to!
Pantera is the best I’ve ever seen live, Slayer is right behind them. Chimaira, Morbid Angel, Fear Factory, Hatebreed,Soulfly, and God Forbid were all awesome as well
Big fan of Fear Factory but Burton C Bell sucks live.
no metallica?
@@DaniEl-lb7bb never seen em live

I saw them in orlando back in 2005 and it was balls to the wall.
Seen Greg jump from rafters twice in one set. Insane live band!
@@jojolewis831 Yeah, I've never seen that kind of craziness before or since, I thought he was going to break his neck jumping from so high hahaha
Amon Amarth are pretty great live, they even have the viking ship and the horn
Rob Zombie for sure, surprised NO ONE said GWAR!!
Zombie is a guaranteed good fckn time, was hoping to see this 🤙🏼
The answer is Slipknot. I DON'T EVEN LIKE THEIR MUSIC ALL THAT MUCH and I've seen them four times, that's how good of a show they put on
The best stage show for the times back then in the 80s, was DIOs Sacred Heart tour. The undertaking to make that happen back then was extreme. Fire spitting dragon, lasers, crystal ball with holograms inside, explosions and the whole nine yards. They put everything into it.
Tool, not even a question, saw them at Download 2019 and no other bands even came close
Saw them in Amsterdam last year, best show I've ever seen
@@benbhogal4551 Dude you must not have been to a maiden show. They are spot on with their performance. I think you might be tool fanning out a bit on this...
Saw them in Melbourne 2020. It was one of my best ever acid trips! lol
I saw Slayer,Pantera,White Zombie and Testament in Detroit. It was an amazing concert !
It's RAMMSTEIN. End of debate. No one gets close. I say this having been gigging since 1978 to the present. But all metal gigs are great as we the metal heads are together. It's us and us alone. We are legion. Respect to you all brothers and sisters 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🇬🇧
Exactly go watch just 1 live video of Rammstein and tell me there is a better band live I might be going to see them at soldier field 2021
I wonder why they didn’t get to Phil on this one. He was definitely like “son is that even a question? Who the fuck do you think!”
Pantera -by far
Dimes solos were always as good or better live
I've seen literally a 100 live shows . Pantera. Hands down. Alot of metal shows.... the memory is fuzzy or forgettable..... but pantera. Damn. What an experience. 2nd best show was metallica in the early 90s.
LoG - Best Performance
Gojira - Best Sound
Mastodon - Best visuals
Slayer - Best near death experience
Maiden is the best live metal band for me, hands down. A truly immersive, entertaining, fun experience. The best non-metal show I've seen was Bowie.
Rob zombies music isn’t the best, but his live show certainly is
Oh yeah I've seen him twice with his current line up. And amazing amazing show. Probably my favorite live show I've seen. I saw them with Korn the night before halloween like 5 or 6 years ago and they blew it out.
Yeah, saw them @ Ozzfest back in 2000 or '01 in St. Louis. It was over 100° & probably 60% humidity by th river & I'd been awake like 26 hrs & was intoxicated when we pulled up. Th only thing that kept me from getting violently ill was soaking a doorag & baseball cap in ice water. Thank GOD security was dumping loads of ice nonstop t/o show for people. It probably saved from having few heat strokes to deal with. Zombie & Sabbath were incredible, I slept t/o Slayer😅 My buddies said I sat down with a beer in 1hand & rested my chin in my palm & didnt move a muscle t/o Slayer performance. I never knew they took th stage till I woke to my buddies laughing @me! That's ok, I've never been a fan, but anyway, great times! Miss that crazy shit🍻🍸🎶
Saw Rob Zombie with Slipknot just last year. That was one HELL of a show.
Gwar
Pantera Slayer Metallica Maiden ... Listen it's cool that so many bands are willing to do absolute wild shit for entertainment value but it's something entirely different when a band can go in and headline a show selling out a football field sized venue ... That shit doesn't happen on accident

PANTERA, hands down!
PanterA in the 90’s were unbelievable. They played so loud. It kicked your ass
& early 2000s
Slipknot, Slayer, Maiden, KoRn, RAMMSTEIN, Mastodon
My favorite concerts were, and I'm aging myself here
3) Slayer
2) Pantera
1) Black Sabbath
Geezer Butler is damn mind-blowing
Alice Cooper,Kiss,ACDC and the Scorpions are great!
Alestorm are so much fun live, agreed
The Backstreet Boys
You made my day lol
I've been to dozens of shows & the smaller travelling festivals that come around and even though I didn't see them back in this era, 98-2005 Slipknot would be the best show to ever see. There's really no act that I believe would come close to them. Those 9 psychopaths jumping around bangin', Sid jumping 30 ft from a speaker tower into the crowd, fighting on stage, lighting each other on fire & Corey's incredible vocals / showmanship, it's not even close here folks. The footage from their old shows in fucking insanity & man, I wish I was there
Metallica...especially up through the mid 90’s.

Primus have some of the best live shows with the videos they have playing behind them and the lights and less claypool is just a genius
The answer is MESHUGGAH.

They played 45min , without any openers and left. No explaination - EVER. Even got to talk to james about it many years later. Apparently they all still remember that but keep it zipped to what was the actual reason.
Kinda pissed about it because I never got to see them again after that BUT ..... if there ever was a SPECIAL Slipknot show this one was it.
They opened their short set with the song IOWA played in it's full length.
Really love this, for I have found out about Spirit Adrift. Really good band!
Just cut the Highly spusoect guy, love the band, but his only answer is Gojira. Ok we've got it they're your friends, but man you annoying!
Exactly. He's a human parrot.
I was going to say the same thing, all he says in all of these is Gojira. He's not necessarily wrong but he could come up with other answers
They have a interview on the question of Megadeth or Metallica
Highly Suspect Guy: Megadeth amd metallica are both legendary...but I gotta go with gojira. You know I'm friends with them and they're cool guys
You’re not lying! As soon as he appeared on my screen I thought to myself, “if this dude says Gojira again... Motherf***er!”
@Sir Ious Yeah they cut out clips of him saying gojira another few hundred times
I can't believe they didn't mention Alice Cooper, that dude's show is insane, he was all over the stage and at his age... I hope to be as agile as him at that age.
I agree but he's hard rock /rock
This is about heavy metal so I can understand that he's not on their list . He's my absolute favorite as well . Him and Rammstein
Rammstein no doubt. Change my mind.
I’ve seen Manowar live and they were pretty great… But Iron Maiden really has no equal when it comes to live shows. It’s almost like musical theater.
Anthrax has the most energy of any band I've seen
Accept is the tightest band I see
Y&T had the best crowed I've ever seen
Was looking for this comment. Anthrax plays one hell of a show.
Saw Gojira for the first time in 2017 for the Magma tour and man when they opened with Only Pain. I knew that it was gonna be one HELL of a show and it was, best live show I've seen.
