- Just wanted to have a little fun in this one! I do not recommend you polish your paint with a metal polish, I was just curious as to what would happen.

Not at all what I was expecting to happen 😂😂😂 I really thought it would make the paint worse since the abrasives are more aggressive. Would love to see more experiments like this in the future!
Jordan Adamowicz I didn’t expect it either! I plan to throw some videos like this out every now and then.
When I get a car that has fingernail scratches under the door handles, I use Mothers metal polish on a foam pad, working it in by hand. So far it has worked every time, including on my car that I got last year.
kawtriples Thanks for the tip! I have some Mothers metal polish so that might be next.
Finally, someone getting back to being fun! Thanks for your time and humor! The wifey doesn't want mean taking advantage of the some of the spring discounts being offered out there for supplies..... 🤪
dj 91 You are welcome!! Yes unfortunately wives can be like that! 😂
Way to change things up FAB, and keeping things fun! Great idea seeing how different products work with other unintended applications! Stay safe!
Phriendlymd Thanks brother! It was just for fun but kind of surprising.
😀 Thats awesome!! In the mid 90s I had a 1984 Ford Tempo... It had really faded red paint.. (single stage) I was to cheap to buy the proper stuff..but.. I had a can of Mother's Aluminum polish and an old tshirt😎😬.. and the ambition to make her shine... it took forever.. but it worked...😁
MNpicker Yeah it was fun to do. I have some Mother Metal Polish maybe that will be next.
Try Mothers Aluminum for fun, Sweet Project Cars gave that tip. And yes it works on headlights very quickly.
thomkirby I may have to do that! I might be able to try it today.
Nice fun video. I figured it would polish some. Basically it is like a very light compound...….
Camaro Time Thanks Pete! I figured it would also because it works good on swirled metal.
That’s awesome. I saw a video where they tried hand lotion and it worked. I think apex showed that it comes down a lot to the pad or microfiber used. But this combo worked well taking the swirls out. Fun stuff. Thanks for the vid and keep staying at home. Both my kids have asthma too so we all have to be careful
Jason Davis It kinda of surprised me that it removed swirls that well. Granted it made the panel cloudy. Yes we are staying indoors and keeping the kids away from everyone. Thanks brother
Kudos to you FAB..! I am tired of hearing corona this and that too.. Have fun..get out to that garage and enjoy. Stay safe and I wish everyone the same..
Chicago Mike Thank you brother! I’m tired of it also. Still working on the garage but it’s getting closer.
It removed the defects, but left a horrible haze. A metal polish is pretty much a super aggressive compound, it’s almost like using a hybrid compound/sandpaper mix if that makes sense? I’ve used metal polish on headlights with an aggressive wool cutting pad on the rotary polisher and that damn combo levels out the headlight pretty good without sanding, you just need to follow up with a polish and polishing pad to restore more clarity and gloss. A metal polish is also good at removing oxidation, which is why it works well on headlights also, it can be used, but it will always need to be followed up with a second step.
Yeah it worked I just thought it would be fun to try. Using on headlights is a good idea.
Wet sand with 3000 grit to remove the small scratches then use the metal polish
There's a video of a guy who roller painted his truck with Rustoleum Farm Tractor Green and buffed it with metal polish. It's looks good, so i searched up metal polish and found your video.
@@hangten1904 That is interesting! I will have to go check that video out
End of the world. LOL just in case everyone buys all the right chemicals to correct paint we now know what to buy. Got to have fun with everything that is going on right now.😃😃
Curb Appeal Lawn Care Indiana I figured I would have some fun with it! Thanks for watching
How do you polish painted metal when you want the paint to be removed and the metal underneath to be polished? Don’t want to sand as the metal is thin and can’t use paint stripper. Would this work to remove the paint while polishing the metal?
Great! Now there's going to be a run on TWAMP! Thanks Brian!
I think Brian from Apex Auto Detail did something showing that the pad you use makes a big difference. Used his Uro-Fiber 50/50 pad and hand lotion.
Wade Miyataki 😂 your welcome!! I saw that video and yes the pad makes a difference.
Always have fun testing products. We still have to work also pretty much we been just go to work and staying home when not.
Ouzo Lou Garage Yea it is! That’s what we are doing also.
I heard that back in the day before all these polishes came around that the custom painters used chrome polish to shine up their work by hand. Don't know if it's true or not but I could see it.
Bird Man I have never heard that but I could see that because it definitely does some correction.
🤣🤣 when the zombies are knocking on the door we can still polish 👍👍
Cory Macumber That’s one thing we have going for us! 😂
I drive a rental car provided specifically for like Uber in my country. The cars are provided by the company and when they call you and say hey you can return the car and get newer one.they may charge all the wear and tear cosmetically. they do not charge you for any mechanical things though if you report it and its maintained by them. it may cost a bomb as the inspection will be like as like a new car. Dosent make sense right i know. So for all these minor scratches and since i do have autosol metal polish at hand.you know what all the sratches from passengers carrying bags, etc around the rear doors, door sils or boot area. this may do the trick and keep my cost down
where can i buy this ? Could not find online.
Fun video shows you can correct paint with almost anything..Do you find the mini is louder than the G8? Turning my mini into a 4 inch using it for applying sealants.
Kenny D Yes you can! Honestly I am not sure. I may have to turn both on at the same time now. 😂
That’s why the 8mm throw polishers are still so popular, yeah they take longer than the 15mm and 21mm throw machines, but for a one time job with the correct pad and compound combo, it will get it done.
Thanks for giving us a little levity in these stressful times 😁 It probably would remove some oxidation on paint (or rather clear coat). 👍✌️🇺🇸
B Stewart ExecutiveCarCare You are welcome! I don’t think it removes nearly as much clearcoat as a normal polish would.
Yeah that's why I think it would ok to use to remove some oxidation 👍✌️😷
Thank you for sharing! Mother's mag & aluminum polisher it's proven to work on cars very good. My $0.02😃
I have some of the mother chrome polish and a cheap 10" buffer. I wonder if my setup would work on my car paint?
@@deasttn it doesn't hurt to try, my advice try it on area that isn't visible, such as rocker panels... 👍
Cool video.
HM autodetailing Thanks!
Car Manufacturers recommend using a metal polish to remove water spots from glass.
Fun vid... i always feel its more about the pad than the polish
barry bij Thanks! Yes the pad makes a big difference but the abrasives are also a factor.
Excellent Test
Fun video. I do need to buy metal polish at some point and will look at this Turtle 🐢 Wax one.
Ryan Mulhearn Thanks! It’s a decent metal polish and readily available.
Why not recommend using metal polush??
Metal Polishes use a different type of abrasive meant to cut on metal not clearcoat.
@@FABAutomotiveDetailing thank you .. saved my car now...
What do you think of the Maguire ultimate compound ?
@@arielbene2013 It’s ok but if you can get the new Turtle Wax 1 and Done I would go with that.
Hahaha man that actually worked pretty well! Would be curious about water hydrophobics LOL way to put some fun into it... experimenting can lead to a great discovery!!😄😄
PapaSmurf918 I was quite surprised also! I’m sure the hydrophobics wouldn’t last to long. I figured it would be fun.
Great! Whats for sure there was no dusting 👌
Sasha Gilgur Yes actually I didn’t even pay attention to that when I made the video. That’s another positive to it.
Sir do this opposit like paint compound polish to steel 😀
I've got the mothers metal polish, pretty good. Haven't tried it on paint. Lol
HM autodetailing I have that also and might just use it next! Haha
@@FABAutomotiveDetailing Lol
Lol that's funny...but I think the pad did most of the work.
I'm sure pad and polish would work on metals pretty fast.
Stay Tuned Car Care It was fun to do! The pads always do most of the work.
Try it with toothpaste & compare with different brands😁 ...Oh wait the stores are probably out😷 Great video just to lighten up the mood 👍👍
IntervalePC The Hoof mentioned that also! We some to spare. Oh hope the stores aren’t out because there will be some nasty breathe out there. 😂
Hey FAB how's it going. How can i get a hold of you to send you my email. I dont have facebook or instagram. Im one of the lucky winners for the super clean. Let me know. Thank you
Now for my next trick. (TOOTHPASTE)
Hoof Hearted That’s a good idea!!
First!! 🏆
Jamie Rosenthal Winner winner!!!! 🏆
FAB Automotive Detailing my prize is knowledge, don’t correct paint with metal polish 😂
Jamie Rosenthal Very true!!

That paint and hood was in good condition.. no real diff
The difference was it removed the swirls which was the point of the video. The paint is in good shape just swirled up. The swirls looked way worse in person but the metallic really hides it on video.
