Scott, dont know if you will ever read this but thank you so much. You're my favorite detailer on RUclips even though you dont post anymore,. Your methods have been so helpful to me. I hope all is good with you and you're happy. Thanks again!!!!
I tried it to remove water spots on my back glass. It was the best thing I have ever tried. I spent a lot of money on water spot removal products and this method was the only thing that delivered real results. Thanks for sharing the information.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK SCOTT!! All it is is passion coming from your videos, it's sad when people don't have it they tend to hate on those who do. Also it's so EASY TO FASTFORWARD if you don't have the patients. Can't wait for more videos brother! Please please please don't let the negativity hinder you from making more videos.
Scott you are a genius,I learn a lot from your channel as beginner in detailing field and will start implement yours tips and tricks.thank you to share your knowledge
Hey Scott! Please ignore all the haters, you're doing a great job keep up the good work. Trust me, there's a reason you have 80k subscribers!! Your glass polishing method is great I'm gonna try it. God bless!
I saw this video several weeks ago and it was a nightmare to get the fitz and polishing ball, but I finally have it. I will try this myself today. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.
Thanks for the tips Scott, I have a problem with neglected windshield that's marred with hard water spots. I've tried steel wool and chemicals and managed to clean most of them but the result is not as clean and shiny as I hoped and there are still some spots that simply won't budge especially ones located on the corners. So to recap and make it easier for me to remember, here's my summary on Scott's glass cleaning tips. If there's anything I miss, please let me know. Can't wait for the weekend to try this out. Materials needed: - Glass cleaner (regular spray type) - Clay bar - Flitz metal polish (paste type) - Flitz buff ball - Power drill - Microfiber towels Step by step to super clean exterior car glass, including hard water spots, fast and easy: 1. Spray glass cleaner onto glass 2. Spray glass cleaner onto claybar to lube it 3. Clay the glass 4. Wipe glass clean and dry with microfiber towel 5. Put small dabs of Flitz metal polish onto glass 6. Smear the dabs with your finger to even them out 7. Attach Flitz buff ball on your power drill 8. Buff the metal polish evenly across the glass (watch video to see how to buff sideways) 9. Once done, wipe the glass clean with dry microfiber towel 10. It's done, enjoy the shine Some thoughts: - I assume any fine metal polish will do since I live overseas and won't be able to get my hands on Flitz metal polish - I assume liquid type metal polish can be used as well - The buff ball is another thing I won't be able to get here, I think I'll try using available buff ball here which is a sponge buff ball.
Thanks for the tip. The MSDS for Flitz metal polish shows that it contains 35% aluminum oxide. I've read that aluminum oxide is a cheaper product to polish stones/gems with in a rock tumbler. Cerium oxide (optic grade?) seems to be the go-to product for glass polishing.
I’ve worked in the optics polishing trade for nearly 40 years and you’re right. The preferred medium is rare Earth due to its molecular construction, especially on softer materials. Aluminium Oxide has a sharper construction but is also used for high grade optics (mainly infrared). 👍
Hey WOW ! I watch hours upon hours of RUclips content when online. This window polish was next level.I observed as you started the polish, there was more clarity to see inside the vehicle and the other side as well. Thanks for walking us through and explaining the content at the risk of giving away business.Cheers from Australia.
In a world of sub-mediocre performers, it's so refreshing to hear someone talk about going the extra mile and over delivering. I read a little sign in an ice cream shop many years ago that said. "The way to have a happy customer is simply give them their money's worth" . Thanks for the tips.
sir I just came across your videos and I LOVE them. explained perfect. I use to do other type of work But got injured and can no longer perform that type of work. I have always loved cleaning my vehicles that I have been looking at doing others and seeing if I can gather enough to keep me going. and your videos make it a bunch easier to offer things that I know are not available around this area. and even to do it better than anyone else. please keep up the great work and forget the ones that say to much talking. I hope my work turns out half as good as yours but being me I push for perfection and to always be better. thanks again and God bless.
Just got my truck back from being painted. And now when it rains my windshield wipers go back and forth I can see that film. Will that clay bar take care of it. I ordered one off eBay. Or will I have to polish the windshield. I just had the windshield replaced. And now it's nasty.
Thank you very much for this video. Brilliant advice. I've struggled to get my windscreen completely clean. Now I know a quick, easy and effective way to do it. Thanks again. 👍🙂
I have been using Flitz on many different things including automotive, for a very long time, and I have never even heard of this. I tried it and my glass looks flawless. TYVM!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was incredibly helpful. I have been doing interior details and it is annoying when I kill myself getting the windows clean on the inside only to have them be stained on the outside (I would clean the outsides, but not polish). Now when they get in, they are impressed by how clean and clear the windshield looks and it doesn't cost me a lot of time.
You keep doing it again Scott you're freaking awesome. I love ya bro. I have learn so much from you. You are a remarkable man sharing your tips and tricks from your profession.
Thanks - I'd never heard of that polish. FWIW, cerium oxide paste works well even by hand. It is really meant for actual glass *correction* and is most certainly abrasive, but it doesn't leave visible scratches, IMHO. It can be bought as a powder and mixed with water, or as a ready made paste. I learnt about it from a professional glass polisher. Obviously when used by hand it's just a strong cleaner - it's not going to remove scratches.
Outstanding!!! I love learning tricks of the trade from Professionals who take Pride in their work. So many do just enough to get by. Thanks for the Video.
Hi Scott. On my front glass it has alot of scratches from wash drive in. How do you take care of that? Is a glass replacement the only way? Thanks for sharing.
José Campos you can actually buy cutting pads, it looks like sand paper (because it pretty much is). And you can get some non-deep scratches out. Now I wouldn’t go into it without experience with polishing and wet sanding though. If you don’t know what you’re doing you can screw up the glass beyond repair, and you’ll need to buy new glass anyways.
I'm no specialist and I could be wrong here.. but I suspect this guy is trying to overdeliver, stand out from the competition and he's not worried about the plastic trim.
Thank you Scott. I love the details you put into your videos. My wife hears me listening to your video's and says, "are you listening to Howard Stern again". LOL
Great video. I not long ago found out about your channel. Very informative, I've learned a lot. I'll be MORE THAN READY to detail my 1967 Chevelle SS when I get it
If client is paying for window polish im not doing this and if they want their glass perfect its going to be with a real polisher it doesn't take much longer to do than this method but the results are way better doing it the right way. Now if it's a free gift to my customer to spruce up their windows yes this is fine. But you can't do this way n say.. "I polished the glass, that'll be an extra 50$" that won't fly
Watched the video, purchased the ball and product. It easily removed water stains from my windows. My ball was a bit linty. But hoping that goes away after wash.
What about glass that has some scratches on it, like a wiper blade that might have put some shallow scratches on the glass? Is there an option other than replacing the glass?
Hi Scott Thank you for this nice tip and demo. Question and request: would this product remove the small streaks / scratches on the side windows? Would you make a video clip on a window s with streaks and use the clay bar and Fliz please? Also How Fliz is on the paint of the car? Can it be used as a polisher for the faded areas of the paint? Please let me know. Thank you for all your help and efforts.
Hello Scott , nice tips . But I have scrape marks because of dust that was stuck between the glass and the felt every time the glass was moved up and down . Could you let me know how to correct that .
I have questions. I carry my ladder in my dully an I have scratch my outside windows with the ladder how can I remove that??? It's not like a scratch into the glass more like the paint from the ladder scratch the class. Any ideas how to remove
Your videos are awesome. Thanks for making them. I was wondering how to clean the inside of the window if it has tint on it. If there are things you should never use.
Sir, I got a Tundra I’ve done a lot of interstate traveling so I’m sure you know my windshield... if I run it through this process will it help? I just tried clay barring a section of it and there’s still water spots.... how would you treat a “dirty windshield)? Does it need to be sealed? *newbie here.... thanks
Glass cleaner lol. I’ve been detailing for 4 years. Never used anything else on the inside unless I was removing old tint. Is there something specific you’re talking about gettin off the glass?
Have you tried the rubbing compound and pumice soap mix and/or cerium oxide powder for glass polish and scratch removal? If so, what are your opinions on their application process and end results?
Hey, Scott! I love your videos. They have been a great help with my personal at home car washing! I’ve never washed as good as I have until watching your channel. I have a question. What’s the best way to get paint, mainly oil based paint, off your window glass?
I’m the One percent that wants a rayon pad and glass polish. That is why I do so on my own vehicles. I’m Very particular on my glass. But I agree most would are not nearly as concerned.
well i would start with a product called citrol 266 (could be hard to find) but checkout amazon..after that i would try a clay bar..if those two options don't remove the acid rain stains than i would try to polish them off..you can try putting a compound on a microfiber towel and work over the stains and see if you can remove them..if not you will probably need to use a machine (dual action polisher) with a compound and medium cutting pad...hope that helps my friend:)
Dallas Paint Correction & Auto Detailing I got a spray can today of the citrol 266 it didn't work the clay bar smoothed out the roughness and make it about 10 Percent better and then I used the buffer and tryed the no 7 rubbing compound and Turtle Wax rubbing compound then rubbing polish all together it made the rain stains less noticeable but still there is there any other good rubbing compound or Polish that works better
Dallas Paint Correction & Auto Detailing I found some stuff on Amazon I was wondering if you have ever tryed it www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0007IJR1I/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I do much of the same to get awesome results. What's your thoughts on using an aerosol glad cleaner instead of a spray. Sprayway (just the original blue can) makes an amazing glad cleaner, if you haven't tried it I'd love to get your feedback on it. You're the man!
thanks Kyle:)...i have used sprayway and i think it works well..i can make a video about it in the future..i do think as i get older and my hands are tired, i love aerosol products!..lol...thanks for the kind words my friend
No. The inside is not exposed to harsh environments and debris and chemicals etc. like the outside is. Glass cleaner should be more than enough on the inside. And don’t forget tint is on the inside as well, so use a compatible cleaner
Hi Scott, Some how during my maintenance wash last week I managed to put two small 2in scratches in my windshield. You can only see them at night when there is on coming traffic. You can not catch or feel them with your nails so I know there are very light, but they are still annoying as hell. Can you do a video on how to polish out scratches from glass like this, and is it even possible to remove them? Thanks
The Chevy and Chrysler dealerships use fine #0000 steel wool in their detail Departments instead of clay. is steel wool just as good as claybar in your opinion?
yes steel wool is an option for many, I'm not a fan because they shed and you have little pieces of metal all over the place..i just stick to the clay bar
+BadRonald1 I'm a drummer and professional detailer and never thought of putting two and two to clean my cymbals lol now the question is what is the best clay to cymbals
I have a question on how you would polish glass to remove "hard water spots/Acid rain"?? My truck has it horribly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
i dont remember where i got it but its a hard water spot remover. comes as a paste ( you mix with a small amount of water ) along with a scotch bright kinda thing and it works very very well.
What is the best way to clean the inside of the windows, especially the windshield? No matter how much I try, I can't seem to get the grime off and just spread it around.
For hard water spots on glass and paint I use a wheel acid or chrome spoke cleaner, Hydrophloric, and a soft bristled SM Arnold brush. Cool surface. Don't do in Sun. Shade or cover needed. I do a small area at a time. Half the windshield and rinse, half the hood and rinse, a fender and rinse, etc. Clear wheel acid. The hot shit for big boy detailers with balls. I always use my vehicle as a guinea pig in case something goes wrong.
I bought a car from an elderly women's son. The man was older than my father but apparently the previous owner of the car passed away. They moved her car to their house where it sat for a few years until their son was old enough to drive and he didn't like the car. Well I bought it for $500 a 95 Regal with 91k miles care was in excellent condition with one exception.... The windshield... Water spots everywhere basically etched into the glass and there was never anything I could do to get them out. I tried claybar, rubbing compounds meant for paint, even "Bartenders friend" a polish meant for porcine (used with a scrubbing pad). None ever provided noticeable results and over the years I just gave up on it.
I bought one of these but when I first used it I get a lot of what looks like little fibers going all over the place. You have that issue to start or not?
Worked in auto manufacturing and we would use a watered down polishing solution on special vehicles that were going to the auto show, put it on and let dry and wipe it off.
Scott, dont know if you will ever read this but thank you so much. You're my favorite detailer on RUclips even though you dont post anymore,. Your methods have been so helpful to me. I hope all is good with you and you're happy. Thanks again!!!!

Scott’s been over-delivering to his customers and not overthinking the moment since 1969.
Scott you not only over deliver to your customers, but you also over explain. You’re very passionate, nothing wrong with that. Thanks.
Hate em? Scott just became my new best friend! Thank you brother Shalom

Bar Keepers Friend has always been my favorite glass polishing item. Mildly abrasive but won't scratch.
Me too
$12 at Walmart use polishing
Will that Bar Keepers Friend work on glass that's really really scratched up.
@@AlanVonGoodleef It will definitely help. If you have a local glass shop, they usually use a felt pad and jewelers rouge to get out the bigger stuff.
My friend has a 90 model Dodge truck that both door glasses are really really scratched.
I’ve used Flitz polish on my symbols and chrome rims for 30 years now I can use it on my windows who would’ve thought thanks bro !!
Scott I love this method and products used. I am from Grenada in the Caribbean.

You can also crack the window down to clay and remove those lines on the edge of window so it looks nice and uniformed . Thanks for the videos

Great video. Thank you for the info... With an older window I highly recommend doing this process before any Window Tint application.
will this work for spider webbing or micro scratches in my new trucks windshield?
Can't put a price on great customer service. Awesome work! 😎

how long does the wax last for in the flitz polish? can you put megs x wax over it when it fades off?
I've watched a few of your videos on glass, but I haven't seen you do the inside of the window. Especially with window tint.
Great tip Scott! Thanks for sharing it!
Keep up the good work Scott. I appreciate the talking. If people want to complain about how long they then they can make one themselves.

excellent advice, Scott... That's a fast spinning drill...

I've been using this exact method for months now and have loved the results.
Been using for months on same vehicle?
This procedure is best for car shows, and custom vehicles. Your work truck will be dirty in about 15 min. of driving. Thanks for posting.
with the polish, dirt should just fall off and or rinse off with the rain.
How do you clean tint windows, inside? Plastic Crome?
How much correction did that do, it would have been nice to see it actually remove something as that's glass looked spotless before?
Your videos are awesome. Thanks for making them. I was wondering how to clean the inside of the window if it has tint on it. If there are things you should never use.
Vinegar water is great. Even glass cleaner works well. Just stay away from anything with ammonia in it
How do you clean your ball that you use the flips on when it gets really dirty just throw it in the washing machine or what
Is the clay bar really necessary if you are going to polish it anyways?
Sir, I got a Tundra I’ve done a lot of interstate traveling so I’m sure you know my windshield... if I run it through this process will it help? I just tried clay barring a section of it and there’s still water spots.... how would you treat a “dirty windshield)? Does it need to be sealed? *newbie here.... thanks
What do you do for the interior glass mostly the windshield
Please answer this
Glass cleaner lol. I’ve been detailing for 4 years. Never used anything else on the inside unless I was removing old tint. Is there something specific you’re talking about gettin off the glass?
Alcohol water 50/50 with magic eraser then any window cleaner you feel like. It works.
Do you have any open appointments on Thursday?
Thanks for sharing Scott. Question: How effective is the flitz polish used on the windows as a rain repellent vs Rain X and other polishes?
Can you use a foam pad with this polish?
Have you tried the rubbing compound and pumice soap mix and/or cerium oxide powder for glass polish and scratch removal? If so, what are your opinions on their application process and end results?
where do you get this polish and polish ball?
Hey, Scott! I love your videos. They have been a great help with my personal at home car washing! I’ve never washed as good as I have until watching your channel. I have a question. What’s the best way to get paint, mainly oil based paint, off your window glass?

This was interesting and nice to watch someone enjoy what they do.
why not lower the window and do the top
Merci, pour tous vos conseils, ....
Flitz polish. Also great for silver and brass objects.
Ho do you get rid of the acid rain stains that have been on the window and windshield for a long time
well i would start with a product called citrol 266 (could be hard to find) but checkout amazon..after that i would try a clay bar..if those two options don't remove the acid rain stains than i would try to polish them off..you can try putting a compound on a microfiber towel and work over the stains and see if you can remove them..if not you will probably need to use a machine (dual action polisher) with a compound and medium cutting pad...hope that helps my friend:)

Your videos are very helpful, thanks... I came across some tips on removing hard water spots using bar keepers fiend and I will be trying them soon on my truck since I haven't had any luck removing them. Keep the videos coming for us the D.I.Y.
GREAT !! So are most of the scratches on the outside or inside of the window ???
outside
can a clay mitt be used on the glass?
what about the inside of the glass, and is that the only polish that they make ?
Can you get that flintz polish at o'Reilly's, And does this process helps with minor scratches from wipers?
It actually did make a difference really nice looking window
I do much of the same to get awesome results. What's your thoughts on using an aerosol glad cleaner instead of a spray. Sprayway (just the original blue can) makes an amazing glad cleaner, if you haven't tried it I'd love to get your feedback on it.
You're the man!
thanks Kyle:)...i have used sprayway and i think it works well..i can make a video about it in the future..i do think as i get older and my hands are tired, i love aerosol products!..lol...thanks for the kind words my friend
Metal polish is great for glass...can be used to restore headlights in a matter of minutes too.
Great video. Do you clay the front glass on the inside aswell to achieve the same result you get on the outside?
No. The inside is not exposed to harsh environments and debris and chemicals etc. like the outside is. Glass cleaner should be more than enough on the inside. And don’t forget tint is on the inside as well, so use a compatible cleaner

Thanks so much for answering my questions, i fully appreciate you sharing your vast knowledge with all of us.
I wonder if clay will clean a Sabian cymbal or using a sealant to protect a cymbal.
+BadRonald1 I'm a drummer and professional detailer and never thought of putting two and two to clean my cymbals lol now the question is what is the best clay to cymbals
Mark H the good
Does that have Cerium Oxide??? And what size ball is that???
Scott, nice Video.
FLITZ Polish, is what I use. (In a Bottle)
You used the (Tube) FLITZ.
Thanks for the Information.
Would a "magic eraser" work as well as the clay?
No. A clay bar polishes the surface and takes any imperfections out for a smooth flat surface.
No matter how much I try, I can't seem to get the grime off and just spread it around.
elbow grease ..keep wiping with cloth and it will eventually vanish
Is your polishing ball 5 or 7 inches in diameter?
And i assume this will help the windows going up & down nice & smooth?
Um. Nope.
You need a spray oil like wd40 that is designed to stick.
Yes but spraying silicone into rubbers and felts will keep it lubricated and smooth
How much would you charge if customer asked only to do the windows
Why does he not want to break out a District Attorney 🤣
Flitz is amazing!
Worked like a charm. Windshield looks new again. Thanks for the tip. How bout using this stuff on black chrome trim and grill?
Is there another polishing ball that's better for windshield? Forgot to ask
I bought one of these but when I first used it I get a lot of what looks like little fibers going all over the place. You have that issue to start or not?
Worked in auto manufacturing and we would use a watered down polishing solution on special vehicles that were going to the auto show, put it on and let dry and wipe it off.
