    I just bought one golden boy and haven't had a chance to get to the range yet, bought some Winchester 22 win mag 40 grain 1910 fps full metal jacket and wondering if you think they will be to much or not ?

      well my first question is.... do you have a 22 Win Mag (WMR) rifle? the ones in this video are 22LR and the two do not interechange. assuming the rifle is 22 Win Mag, yeah, should be ok even though i do not at all like the Winchester 22 Win Mag ammo. it quite often is hard to extract BUT with a lever action, might do ok. for 22 WMR I much prefer CCI Maxi Mag.

    Great comparison. I have both rifles as well. The golden boy is a fine looking gun but I'm more comfortable with my classic especially if I'm dragging it through the bush. I've had the classic longer and like the angle of the stock, it's much flatter than the golden boy. But the Fit and finish of the golden boy is amazing.

    Nice video.
    How do you find shooting with the notch and wide blade of the H001 compared to the buckhorn and gold bead of the GoldenBoy? Is either more or less precise in your opinion?
    Regarding the ammo you used...
    I recently went to the range with some Winchester Super X and some other ammo. After shooting the others, which were also high-velocity rated around 1200-1300 fps, the Winchester surprised me. The blast and recoil were noticeably greater. I guess it is a "hotter" rimfire load, not far behind the Stingers, etc. And the Super X seemed to group as well as the others.
    Be safe.

    • @CloverTac
      @CloverTac  4 года назад +2

      Honestly, i do not like the Henry semi buckhorn rear sight. It is different than the Marlin buckhorn style that I am used to and way different than the they typical v notch on most everything. Some people swear by it but at distances farther than about 50 yards, just does not really work for me. I did not notice this that much until i was sent the 30-30 and started trying to shoot with them at those longer distances. ruclips.net/video/pAuZYwEx1tM/видео.html

    I got the Henry Classic Youth because that was all that was available. Like it very much, but not as much as my Marlin 39A(1950's) that I inherited from my father. Now(because I can) I'm getting a Henry Golden Boy because the Henry Octagon Frontier was out of stock. I'm sure I'll have fun shooting it. Why limit yourself to just one, and the Golden Boy will go into the collection of the many(I wish I could say several) 22LR rifles I have. Bolt action, lever action and auto, they are all fun. The fact that I'm older now, and can have more that one sure plays a factor though.

      If you're thinking a .22 Henry, can't go wrong with either the Classic or Golden Boy. They both function the exact same, it's really just a matter of personal preference of the gun's appearance. If you don't mind the way the Classic looks, go for it, it's cheaper. If you want the nice brass frame, the Golden Boy ain't that much more expensive. Both are great rifles.

    • @CloverTac
      @CloverTac  2 года назад

      so from the MSRP standpoint, there really isn't much of a price difference... less than $100 with similar barrel & stock configuration. it could be that retailers are marking up the golden boy more. on parts, i have never tried to interchange anything. i can tell you that the parts appear to be similar but they do have slightly different part numbers. this could just be an inventory tracking thing. good questions and i would absolutely suggest giving Henry a call.

      it all just depends... some folks are fine with the plain jane, some folks want all the extras... same with cars, washing machines and anything else. i do think kept nice, a golden boy, even the plain ones, will hold value better than a classic BUT if you are wanting a fun little shooter... the odds of keeping it nice are probably low. so why not just stick with the classic and have fun.

    I can't blame the sights. Can't blame the rest either. Seems like you know what your talking about so it's probably not your breathing and even if your eyesight is bad you still have the same sight picture.
    That leaves the ammo. The one thing I have noticed about .22 ammo now is it isn't like it used to be. I found that CCIs usually work the best. Long gone are the days of head shots on squirrels with cheap bulk packs.

      sorta back handed here but will address it anyway. so, i am well documented at saying i am not good with buckhorn and semi buckhorn sights... which is what these use...so there is that. the triggers are not great BUT i really think it is combination of the sight thing PLUS having to break form and sight picture unlike a bolt action or semi auto. "is one better" is not an accruacy test, it is just comparing the two, if the groups are similar, well, they are similar bad or not, right? oh and you just THINK this video is old... At 55 and growing up meat was good. So at 30 yards you would aim and hit squirells in the head. Gut shot really ain't good for small game. Shotguns weren't either so you learned how to shoot.
      .22 today is so unreliable on accuracy to hit where you are aiming. With .22 it seems quality has went out the door.

    • @CloverTac
      @CloverTac  11 месяцев назад

      oh 22 in general has always been super dirty and unreliable compared to centerfire stuff... really nothing new. biggest thing is the vast majority of 22 firearm owners do not realize this and end up bashing the firearms instead of understanding the inherent ammo limitations. i can absolutely confirm that if actual true "match grade" 22 ammo is used, it will 100% of the time out perform any non match ammo in any firearm, period. two reasons when doing videos i try to stick with run of the mill ammo instead of high end stuff, first, it give a more realistic example of what most people out there should expect because most are not going to go high end and second, i can't afford to run match ammo through everything in every video. 🤣😂 of course if Eley happens to be reading this comment, i am not oppose to a sponorship deal from that that would allow such a change in my content. ❤Eley❤

      so first off, in what freaking world would i actually shoot this Texas rifle if i paid for it? that was a stipulation of the T&E, which sorta sucks. second, you obviously have not been following my range woes with plywood over the last several months. it is all chewed up and can't afford to replace it, so i have cardboard stapled over the big huge holes. i wish it was as you claim but revenue and funds are total garbage right now, thankful for what little is coming in sure, but it sucks. that is why i started a baseball card channel, trying to do some things that might help keep the firearm stuff going.
