Exactly! I liked it immediately -which almost never happens-, I bought the CD and here I am still listening to it all these years later. I don't get it
I remember these guys playing our parties at Purdue.. what a great band and we we were lucky enough to have both them and Push Down and Turn playing at the same party during Grand Prix!
Unfortunately my history with the Why Store is way too short. Saw them the first time when they opened for Mellencamp in April 1997. Then saw them every time they played Dirty Nellie's in Palatine IL. Unfortunately by 2000 Chris' head got to big and they broke up. What a shame.
When I was 10 my family moved from southern CA to South Whitley IN. I guess the year was 1996. And then this song came out, and it played on the local FT Wayne stations over and over again. I thought Happy's Place was a far more interesting regional phenomenon; this song I hated at the time (though my mom liked it). Now as an adult, I can listen to this and appreciate it. But still, it's no Jar Of Flies (this was my first CD I bought new in 1994. Getting a CD was certainly a big deal then).
i recall going a concert, they were the headliners, the warm up bands were local kids,,, and i was more impressed by the locals... they were just a trendy band for rich hippy wanna bes
Agreed spoildn8410, but it's not just demise of FM radio in smaller cities. I live in NYC and today, this song would never make it on air. There is no radio outlet for a great song like this today.
Well you're just wrong, x7jf. You're not looking hard enough. WFUV is non-commercial and plays tons of music that "corporate" radio doesn't cover. I imagine The Why Store was played on their station quite a bit back in the day.
I remember them being a big local band while I was in college, and I think they came to campus a couple times, but this song is just a lot more basic than I would have expected for a first release. The single acoustic guitar carrying the melody, a mediocre percussion set, background singers that sounded like they recorded their auditions and worked them in. Whoever mixed them didn't do them any favors.
One of the most underrated bands period.
Nothing beats them live
saw 'em live at the Goodland Days Grad Prix... Nothin' quit like watchin' the town sheriff sing "Higher"
I just can't believe the 90s were 20 years ago. I smelled a few roses along the way, and good local music like this was one of them
Really don't understand why this song wasn't more popular. Loved it from the start and love it still!
Exactly! I liked it immediately -which almost never happens-, I bought the CD and here I am still listening to it all these years later. I don't get it
@@mortygirly still feels like it could fit in with Milky Chance and a lot of todays bands

This song reminds me of growing up in Indiana
Hell yes
Me too I'm from Muncie, but live in Arizona
@@mr6ate7muddyupyocouch79 I'm from Muncie, too! I never knew this band was from there until just now.
Me too. And still here still listening
My apologies.
man this song brings back so many good memories. Loved this band
These guys play the little bar I work at in Indy about twice a year! Good stuff
have always been a fan, still don't understand how they didn't make it big. They are at the Slippery Noodle, in Indianapolis, Saturday 12/3 - Go!
They play the Slippery Noodle all the time. They just put out a "Live from The Slippery Noodle CD".....
They did not make it big because they refused to sell their souls
Brilliant piece of songwriting - cool vocal and guitar work is stunning...
they played yesterday in Muncie,IN
We are in Indy watching you right now. FANTASTIC show!!!!!!!!!
Heard it, loved it then kinda forgot all about it. ...man, getting older sucks
My Local radio station in Quincy, lL used to play this. In about 1998. Good song.
If this was made in 2002 then that would be a legend song and still is
Love this song!! First heard it in the summer of 1996. Then they came to my school (Millikin) in 1997 or 1998 for a concert. Great Song!
I was born in 1996,I'm now 24 years old🥰I'm Arabian persom.✅

Doesn't get any better than this.
My husband went to Ball State in the early 90's. We have Lack of Water and Blanket Inside on our Boat Playlist!
"Blanket Inside" is still one of the best songs ever made off a few riffs. such an awesome song. Chilling live
Love this song.

RadioGnome never made it big as their promotional department failed.
The only thing wrong with this Band is we need more!!!!!!!
They Played RIBCO in Rock Island when I saw them, good show, distinctive voice.
