Great review on this paddle ! I bought one as soon as I saw this vid! This one is probably my favorite gen 3 paddle so far.
always appreciate an appetizer before the main meal 🍻
I appreciate your early thoughts on the Oni! Looks like Vatic struck a nice balance of power and control.
Is the Aplollo review on deck? 🙂
Had a slight hiccup but working on it! Also planning on a widebody comparison and a kevlar comparison future when I get the time
C'mon you class act slackers, this video should have 500 likes by now. Why is it only 72? Keep liking and subscribing so we can see some great content that Mr. Tickish Picklish puts out there.
Great thoughts!
Currently deciding between this paddle or the Spartus Apollo coming from B&B Filth, so that’s funny you mention both. Torn on which one to main, even though I’m sure they’re very different paddles
What kind of paddle are you looking for? Apollo you're getting a much better sweet spot with fast hands but solid pop and power. While the Oni is for someone who loves power
will be great to see what you think of the new Ronbus pulsar
If the paddle was to disbond, do you think it would be easy to tell? Are there any other ways to tell besides the speed of the ball? I realize you may not know since your paddle has not disbonded.
Good question, I actually reached out to Chris about this and he let me know that when you press into the paddle face it flexes in a lot more than it should. He also mentioned that he basically couldn't control the ball anymore
I'm surprised that the foam makes the sweet spot smaller than previous Vatic paddles. I would have expected the opposite.
I think the foam rectangles on the paddle took away the stability of the honeycomb core, so the flash which was wider had more noticeable sweet spot reduction.
So the Joolas too, they took away some PP core from the edges to add in more foam and their sweet spots are also not as good. My theory is that the foam works best as an addition to the PP core edges but not as a PP replacement here.
Now with the Vatics the whole core structure is completely different so I can't speak too much towards it
I want to know if you have a weekly update for this paddle. I want to know how long it takes before you get the core issue happening. Thank you
Currently on vacation unfortunately 😔
What’s the cost? The website doesn’t say.
159.99 which drops down $10 after a discount code
Are these more powerful or in the same line as the Engage pursuit pro series?
Noticeably more powerful
@@TickleMyPickleball awesome thank you, bought an oni preorder yesterday with your code after your initial video. Excited to try it out!
Thanks for the review! Specially how would you compare it to Vatic's 16mm Pro Prism (non-Flash). Regarding power, spin, and control. Would I notice much -- good or bad -- moving from that to the Oni? Thanks!
Spin is about the same but it doesn't have the control or soft feel of the prisms. Your drives and blocks at the net are going to shoot off a lot faster than you're used to. You will definitely notice a big change from the prisms to the Oni.
Now whether or not this is good or bad is up to you. You may have a higher skill ceiling if you can learn to control the Oni but at the same time, developing good fundamentals with a control paddle like the Prisms is more important imo. Hope this helps!
Thanks!
Just for clarification, the flash is the shape, so the prism still has a flash and V7, similar to the pro flash and pro v7
You mention the sweet spot is smaller on these than the original vatics. How does the flash oni sweet spot compare to other gen 2 hybrids that you've covered in your hybrid paddle video (kinetic, DBD, Mach 1 forza, etc.)? Lower sweet spot overall than gen 2 hybrids with no foam?
So the original Vatic Flash has a similar sweet spot to all those you mentioned since it's a hybrid like them. The vatic flash oni has a smaller sweet spot than them imo
@@TickleMyPickleball Interesting! What about compared to a Joola Gen 3? Hybrid should in theory still have a wider sweet spot than any of those elongated shapes (e.g magnus, perseus) right?
Great review btw! And I'm looking forward to seeing if you have any of the same issues as pbstudio in his review long term with this paddle.
@@PhoKingHappy thanks! I enjoyed the Flash Oni sweet spot better than the V7, magnus, and Perseus but the Scorpeus and hyperion I haven't tried yet
Have you ever tried those sub $50 gen 2 paddles from Amazon such as the Garye or the Sport Beats?
Only the Hisk Rav Pro which I think is a very solid paddle for its price
Has this paddle been delisted?
As of right now nope, I haven't heard any plans on this being delisted
Awesome review. Thumbs up this video if we can convince get Mr Tickles to do an Oni giveaway.
If only I had any extras! Need to continue using mine to test for disbonding still!
@@TickleMyPickleball How about a giveaway + signed by Mr. Tickly Tickles disbonded/non-disbonded slightly used Oni if this video gets to 1,000 likes in a week?
@@SundayPickles deal. V7 Oni will be given away to someone next Thursday May 9 in a disbonded or non disbonded form if this video has 1k likes by then
@@TickleMyPickleball Let's gooo!!! 54 of 1,000 likes so far. Only 946 to go. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!
I want it 😀👍🏼
ONI seems to be Sold Out / Unavailable everywhere ? What's MSRP ?
159
Did you do a review on the Apollo?
Not yet, we ran into a slight hiccup which put us behind
What’s the price?
$159 before discount code, $149 with code. Although I just checked the site and it's showing as sold out of these limited designs. June 1st for standard models
Gee... only 179 thumbs up. 😶
Joola has seven (7) Gen 3 paddles, and you recommend this Oni above all Gen 3 and Gear Box? Such a biased review.
He’s biased just because he recommends this paddle over those?
Yes the Joola paddles do provide more options but my question is, how does the variety of paddles they provide factor into the quality of each paddle?
If we were to just compare the Flash&V7 vs the Perseus and Magnus, I think the Vatic paddles are more controllable and player friendly with similar levels of power. The Joola paddles may be more advanced to use and can grant you a higher skill ceiling but for the majority of players, I personally recommend the Vatics
