Paddle Showdown Ep 6: Vatic Pro Alchemy vs. Sword & Shield J1/J1H
I just got the All Court Monarch. What a great paddle. More power/pop than my M2 Forza, but still very controllable. Great balance and love the tear drop shape....instills confidence. Good luck at your tournament. Always enjoy your reviews.
Ballr pro vs neonic force?
Neonic force if you want more power, Ballr Pro for more control
What would you say is the best paddle that is: Biggest dwell time, with plush feel. Speed and pop maybe somewhere like Apollo or up to 25% lower SW: <116 TW: 6.5+ RPM: 1950+ Currently I use Apollo and it's very nice, but I am considering trying something with a big dwell time and soft/plush feel to it. I can trade a bit of speed, but would like to keep spin potential. Doesn't matter what shape and handle length.
Mark One and Pickln Alecto Blue are great hybrid options. Volair Mach 2 Forza for a widebody option
I play with the DBD 16mm. I love the maneuverability and balanced feel of the paddle. I know it's a different shape, but do you think the Ronbus FX R2 is as maneuverable as the DBD? I've heard some people say that the FX R2 feels head heavy, which I don't like. Thanks and great review!
The R2 is a bit slower for a standard shape paddle but it's about the same swingweight wise compared to the hybrid shaped DBD
Bnb fatboy 😪
Yea unfortunately I wasn't able to get one on time
How about the vulcan v530? Is it ok?
Nope that's a very outdated paddle. There are many other better options out there
Is the r1 as soft as the prism?
Yes it's pretty similar
What would you rate the spin?
Great review. I picked up the Apollo recently to mess around with. If I had seen this review or your comparison review first, I would have picked up the Monarch. I might still pick up a Monarch considering its price.
Did you use any lead tape setup for the J7K Pro? Or do you prefer it stock?
I do 0.1 oz of lead at the 4 and 8 positions
where do you think the fatboy places?
Wasn't able to hit it unfortunately. I don't own one and they're currently sold out/won't release until later
Erneeee godd :P great video :)
Thanks for your video. I hope to see my favorite paddle in the elongated shape video - Hudef Viva Pro Gen3.
Great video. I also want to hear about Hudef APEX Pro.
What paddle is the tough guy in sleeveless using?
White sleeveless shirt indoors is using Volair Mach 2 Forza. Grey sleeveless shirt outdoors is using the Mark Kinetic
@@TickleMyPickleball ah was looking at the outdoor dude. Great looking paddle he's using
Love this type of video. Looking forward to a hybrid shape comparison video.
I've actually done one on the channel already!
Paddles are not quick or slow. The player is.
good point - weight differences actually mean nothing and are a myth. Science is fake !!
Crosses are not quick or slow. The crucified person is. First when you carry it up the hill. "Enough complaining about the 6x6 solid oak construction! We haven't got all day to nail you up, get the lead out!" And then again, after you are nailed onto it.
If I used a wide body paddle it would be a higher swing weight model for added plow through on ground strokes, serves, and overheads. Swing weight can be good or bad depending on players wants.
Great comparison video! Looking forward to your review of the 11six24 Control and Jelly Bean. It would be great if you can mention how they stack up against the other widebody paddles using the metrics you covered in this video (pop/power, etc.). Very helpful info....thank you.
Did you test out the monarch control yet?? I thought you said it was arriving in the mail soon. Just wanted to see how much power loss versus the cfc and the mach 2 forza
Not yet unfortunately, they just arrived
@@TickleMyPickleball i have the control on order. Currently play with the m2f. I wanted a little more pop and thought that the cfc had the pop/power but not the control.
@@sonnynos gotcha. Unfortunately I won't have time to test it until later so won't be able to let you know
Thank you for doing this comparison. It answers some of my questions for things you can’t get by just looking at what makers provide. I was curious how you measure power and pop? Keep up the good work.
Thank you! So power and pop measurements are more "feel" for me rather than a scientific test. I basically spent a lot of time hitting the paddles side by side in games, drills, and against the wall to understand how they compared. Not an accurate test but imo the testing for those measurements is never going to be perfect because of the human element. So basically it's more feel for me and just how I think they compare. Hope it helps!
I mistakenly purchased a Ronbus R2 Pulsar without researching the balance point first. Was surprised how head heavy it was, coming from using balanced paddles. Trying to decide between these - is the Mach 2 Forza balanced evenly?
I play with the M2 Forza. It's very balanced. Plush feel, control-oriented with adequate power.
Yup like mentioned earlier from the other comment. The M2 forza is less head heavy and more balanced
The R2 is fantastic
@@robedwards6926 I guess if you prefer a head heavy paddle
@LearnAtMyExpense It has a 114 swingweight .For a widebody that's a bit higher than most but it does give it more power and 114 isn't bad. I didn't think it was head heavy but I guess that's subjective.
Awesome!! Please do elongated next!!!
Another great review. How would you compare the feel of the face vs the FX R2? Which is easier to control for resets/dinks? Thanks.
Thanks! The R2 FX is less poppy compared to the Monarch All Court IMO. Stay tuned, I'll have a widebody comparison video coming out shortly
Thanks for the nice review. How does it compare to the Apollo in terms of spin, pop, and feel? Does it feel softer or stiffer?
Spin is similar. There's more pop and power on the monarch. The feel is unique on the monarch because of the cfc but it's a bit stiffer imo
How would you compare the Thrive to the Onex? I have the Thrive and find the surface very hard. No give.
Which Thrive paddle are you referring to?
@@TickleMyPickleball The Thrive Azul
@@robedwards6926 the Kinetic vs the Azul was a more similar comparison. The Mark paddles are noticeably softer feeling than the Azul
Good review. Do you think the control version monarch would be similar to the mach 2 forza with more power?
I actually have that one and the Jellybean coming in the mail so once I get a chance I will make an updated video
I enjoyed your review of the Monarch paddle. I have a lot to think about, because there are more wide body paddles out there. Thank you.
Thanks, I'll actually have a comprehensive widebody paddle comparison video coming soon 👀👀
@@TickleMyPickleball very interested in your thoughts on the new Monarch Control (kevlar). I'm trying to decide between it and a Mach 2 Forza.
@@LearnAtMyExpense they just arrived in the mail so it may be a while before I can get some thoughts
I enjoyed your paddle review of the J3K and J3K Pro paddles.
I enjoyed your reviews of the J7K and J7K Pro paddles. Thank you.
I like that you are reviewing smaller paddle companies, because a lot of reviewers do not. I enjoyed your review of these paddles. Thank you.
Please do a review on kevlar soon
They're in the mail!
Thank you for releasing this so quickly.
Solid review. Can't wait to hear how people feel about the kevlar version. Personally, I love my Hurache-X Control+, and am slightly intrigued to try this. But I don't want to lose that bit of reach. I actually have a lot of control with the Control+, so I appreciate having the power and pop advantage over the other versions from 11six24.
Nice review. Its top is similar to the Hudef Mage Pro Gen2.
Good review. I also like the Hudef APEX Pro for this shape.
Thanks for your video. What's the difference between T700 raw carbon fiber and CFC surface?
Toray Carbon Fibre is one of the top manufacturers of the Carbon Fibre that is used in most paddles. It’s basically designer carbon fibre that has the best longevity and quality. The CFC surface is just what the top layers of the 11Six24 paddles like the Hurache and Monarch are comprised of. It stands for Carbon/Fibreglass/Carbon and its unique to the 11Six24 line up. The carbon adds softness for touch and spin and the fibreglass adds more pop. So to summarize one is a manufacturer of material used by companies and the other is a paddle face layer design.
So a normal T700 carbon fiber surface is usually just multiple layers of carbon fiber while CFC is 3 layers; one layer of fiberglass sandwiched between 2 layers of carbon fiber Carbon fiber is softer feeling compared to fiberglass. Balls will pop off the surface quicker and faster on fiberglass compared to carbon fiber. This means a surface with just carbon fiber sheets will be softer feeling compared to the CFC which has the fiberglass layer giving the ball a bit more pop and power
Is it firmer or softer, then the Vatic prism flash?
A bit firmer but not by much
@TickleMyPickleball Oh nice, because personally I find the prism too soft.
How much lead do you think would be required to get the Markonex twistweight to 7.00?
I would say overgrip plus 0.1 oz at each 8 and 4 positions and some lead at the top of the paddle should be close
Good review. Is it worth the price?
Thank you and yup I think they both come in at a solid price point. They're also pretty unique, there aren't any big name brand paddles that perform like them
How does it compare to the Joola Scorpeus? The shape of J3k and Scorpeus look similar to me.
Yup it's the same shape but the scorpeus is a bit quicker to swing than the j3k which is on the heavier side for a standard shape. The j3k has a softer feel off the face but it can generate more power on drives because of the heavier swingweight
@@TickleMyPickleballI guess the J3K Pro is quicker and lighter and plays similar to the Scorpeus?
@@LukasLwM no the J3 plays like the scorpeus. J3k plays like a heavier and more powerful scorpeus with more control because it's more plush J3K pro plays like the J3K but with more pop so compared to the J3/Scorpeus the Pro is heavier, more powerful, and more poppy
Any idea how the J3k pro compares to the J1H? And which one would you recommend more?
J1H is significantly more powerful and poppy. It's a slower paddle though with a much higher swingweight, even for an elongated shape. I would recommend the j3k pro for more people as it's got more control and a better sweet spot
@@TickleMyPickleball yes I have the J1H and it’s given me tennis elbow because of how heavy it is 😂 love the power though. Hopefully the J3K pro has decent enough power to get me through!
Thank you for this in depth review ! The guy falling on his butt is too funny :)
Great review. For this swing weight I prefer the hybrid shape Hudef Mage Pro Gen2. And you get a better deal with the discount.
no mention about spin
Thanks for your review. This paddle is good. But my Hudef APEX Pro is lighter.
That's true but the Apex pro is also not thermoformed and has a shorter handle
I was curious what you'd think of these!
Great review and good paddles. But still love my Hudef Mage Pro Gen2. Will you do a review of it? I'd like to hear your opinion.
Thanks and yup! I just got them in the mail today and will test them out this week!
Thanks for your sharing. The bloopers are funny. How is this compared to Hudef Viva Pro Gen3?
The Hudef Gen 3 is a bit softer feeling than the J7K and overall is less powerful and poppy. However it has a better horizontal sweet spot
Solid review, man. Do you ever do giveaways on this channel? I think that'd boost your views!
Thank you! Yup I've done them in the past but recently have instead been donating them nearby me or using paddles as prizes for local events. I may get back into it in the future but oftentimes companies only send me one paddle
