    Good Works Tractors is happy to be sponsored by Rim Guard Solutions! This is perhaps the most well-known ballast brand on the market today. Rim Guard goes right inside your tires, so it's out of the way, it doesn't freeze, and doesn't corrode. It's made from natural materials, so it's safe around livestock and pets if it spills out. Rim Guard liquid ballast adds more weight to the back side of your tractor improving stability, loader performance, and power to the ground. Find your closest dealer at bit.ly/3d0whX0

    I do commercial plowing. I use a Boss V blade on a 2500 GMC. My preferred controller location is on the gear selector. One hand can change gears and hold plow controls while the other is spinning the wheel. Similar to most modern wheel loader that have a F/N/R toggle on the joystick. It would be reversed due to the Right hand drive, but I'm sure you would adapt. You may be able to unscrew the gear knob and screw on something to hold the controller. That way you wouldn't have to permanently modify your truck to mount the it. Then in warmer months, you just put you knob back on.
    Just my thoughts.

    As I believe I have commented here in winter’s past, I much prefer plowing snow in my Chevy 2500HD than with a tractor any day. A tractor is great for really rough terrain or if you have a lot of snow, say more than 3’. However, for longer driveways (mine is 1800’) and larger parking lots (I plow my church’s lot), you can’t beat a pickup. I can plow 2’ of snow fairly easily in a comfortable heated cab with my coffee cup at hand. It doesn’t get much better than that. And a truck can plow fast on a paved or hard frozen dirt driveway. I don’t have the cool dump feature of the mini dump, however. 😁

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  6 месяцев назад +5

      I have no interest in driving around in my daily vehicle with a plow on it all winter. Plowing with a truck is nice though! Good to have options, we all like something different :)

    • @LTVoyager
      @LTVoyager 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@GoodWorksTractors I don’t. I put the plow on when I need it and take it off when I don’t. It takes all of 5 minutes tops with the Western Ultramount system. And the mount that is left on the truck is fairly unobtrusive.

    • @LTVoyager
      @LTVoyager 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@laisuresboringadventures7052 You can destroy any piece of equipment if you don’t know how to operate and maintain it. I plowed snow for 18 years with my 1994 K1500, with a manual transmission no less. I did have to replace the bearings in the front axle as a half ton pickup is a little lightweight for plowing much snow and my driveway is quite long. However, it was the truck I had at the time so I used it. It did well for not having the snow plow package.
      I bought a 2500HD in 2014 and it is going strong after 9 years of plowing, but then it is built for this sort of use and I added the snow plow package when I bought it. And I have plowed snow with a variety of vehicles (up to small bulldozers) for nearly 50 years so I know what I am doing. An idiot can easily ruin a tractor also.

    I think you should accept the fact that the bronze bull is there to stay :) Wrap it in white lights for Christmas, and if you want to shock passers by then hang a pair of red bulbs off... well, you know where I'm going with that.

    It’s easier on hydraulics/electric motors if you “don’t” adjust the blade with a pile of snow on it. Also when on rough terrain/gravel set your plow on the ground then lift it up about an inch and you can avoid a rough drive or possible plow damage.

    • @johnbibbings5356
      @johnbibbings5356 6 месяцев назад

      They are made to move the hydraulics with a blade full of snow. And instead of lifting the blade up how about using skid shoes that's what they designed them for. But with a rubber cutting edge he doesn't need them at all.

    • @guyh.4121

      @@johnbibbings5356 ..I drove a snow plow for 30 years and saw what happens when hydraulics go.
