Really excited youve made a video working with these kutzall products! I literally just had my very coarse concave disc shipped to me last week and arrived over the weekend. I've already busted it out and grinded on some claro walnut. I've made 6 little bowls already. Phenomenal discs, absolutely. Matt, thank you for sharing your work! Always a good day seeing that you've uploaded some fresh work! Beautiful piece!
Thanks for watching. Yeah I think you get what you pay for. They are really good and easy to control. Stay tuned my next video is carving a mushroom with them👍
Wow!!! Matt, the bowl is beautiful this shows the control that you have in your hands. cheers and enjoy carving also thank you for the share. Best regards, Amit🙏
Ah pooh, came in for the end! Have to rewatch but that's no hardship! I was watching the first vid from Jonas Olson in two years, amazing creative carver!
Nice bowl 👍👍👍. Those disks look good for removing alot of material. Thanks for the info on the bandsaw, I got one and my work load has dropped alot, next is scroll saw and belt sander. Keep up the good work.
Matt, I would love to see as I have 3 kutzall shaping discs 🙂.. I have done very little work with those discs.. looking forward to this video..thank you
Great video. Just found your channel while researching carving discs. The wood looks to be very dry. Did you seal both ends with paint or glue to keep it from cracking and splitting while drying? Just curious. Keep up the good work.
Great video, I'm a long time woodworker keen on getting into some power carving, I have a 125mm ×22mm anglegrinder, would these disc's be compatible as far as you know?
I run mine on the GA5040C 125mm (5") 1400W Variable Speed Angle Grinder M14. Probably best to check the website as I am only familar with the formats in New Zealand. Cheers for Watching
That was an amazing video, and a really nice shaped bowl. I've started using Kutzall discs for carving various shapes but still struggling to sand the grooves left behind especially in the tight spots! What methods did you use to finish the bowl as it looks super smooth at the end.
Yeah that is a tough one. I have been using the arbortech contour sander, but I haven't decided if it's good yet. I did use a small 20mm disk attached to the dremel as well. I will have to make some more next year to find a good method, it's a tricky one.
Matt, thanks for this excellent video. I have a scrap piece of merbau (290 x 650 x 42) that I'd like to make into a cutting/serving tray for cheese, olives, etc. I'd like to gouge out deep wells to hold dips and/or nibbles and to make the piece lighter. How do these Kutzall cutters work on hardwood?
Wow. Such an awesome job. But dang it, you've now made me want to buy a new tool! I've always wanted to carve bowls and thought I HAD to have a lathe... or go caveman and use an adze. Thank you for educating me. New subsriber here. I have a feeling I'm gonna love your content!
@@MattCarves many thanks, i have the 1/4 inch shank sphere original fine have used it on a sculpture ball is about 1 inch round and easily sands out roughness from extreme coarse to probably around 80 grit im not sure exactly but worth the money for sure. Many thanks
This looks beautiful Matt, what wood is this ? I haven't had a chance to go around the saw mills for a good wood as we don't have lumber yard like in the NZ or the US and this DIY trend has not still hit our shores that much .... thank 🙏you enjoyed watching and learnt a lot from it 😊
Hey mate, Looks like the affiliate link isn't quite working. If you look at video description, the '?aff=70' isn't lit up as part of the hyperlink. One day I'll get a proper Kutzall disc - settled for the offbrand trademe version for now!
Im not sure why it is doing that the blue part works anyway. Yeah those kutzal discs are expensive. not sure if you know you can get them from carbatec in Auckland or Christchruch thats where I get most of my burrs from.
Have not used it frequently enough to make that call, I know the kutzall dremel burrs last me about 1 year. However these questions are hard to answer as everyone carves different woods and has different styles of carving. Cheers 👍
it seems to be a very soft and stable wood. Here in Brazil we have many species, I work with some very hard ones and for carving I use a saw with a dimmer. The most common species here are: Angelin, Roxinho, Muiracatiara, Canela, etc. What woods do you use?
@@bruceviana2377 yeah I have never heard of those woods. I carve in black walnut, pine, macrocarpa and any other wood I can get my hands on. Cheers for watching and commenting 👍
I would google search for a local stockist to wherever you live. Or you can buy them online from kutzall in USA( shipping would be expensive though) See the description to that video. Cheers 🍻
Seems kutzall makes some nice choices in woodworking products
Yeah. I love their tools

Lovely bowl too Matt! I've got a silicone mushroom commission before i can carry on with my dragon, i'll send pics !
Very nice!
Love the shape😃

cool, good to hear you get a bandsaw, they are real time savers for cutting wood down.
cheers for watching.
Beautiful piece! Well done sir!
Cheers Chris. Have you taken a break from youtube?

@@MattCarves to be honest started making a bowl in a boat shape like how u did ....it's incomplete
Fantastic thanks Matt

Can't really say how the kutzall discs will go in hard wood. Probably OK if your doing a shallow tray.
Did you ever make the video about the next step ? smoothing, finishing, etc. Thanks
not exactly, but check this video out where I show the whole process ruclips.net/video/gDy05RUdW6U/видео.htmlsi=XGUpnUNvZmBibC1k

@@alexnicanovich3636 Cool that good to hear. I just bought a fine kutzall shaping disc
Very well done, thanks!
Now I need those!
😅👍
great video and very nice piece, but how long did it take for this piece ??!
Cheers. It took about a day with filming. 👍
Thank you forthe video. Can I skip the middle coarse disk and use the original extreme with original smooth only?
Yes I reckon that would work. It works with the dremel kutzall burrs 👍
HI, thank you for the video. What do you think skipping the middle coars disc and use the smooth after the very coarse disc?
That's the way I would go if I was doing a lot of bowls. I tend to do that with the dremel kutzalls
Love your work sir

STUNNING!!!
Cheers Steve 👍
Hey Matt, what kind of table/clamp vice are you using. What do you call that thing you clamp the bowl with?
Hi. I am using the triton superjaws XXL. For clamping. Cheers for watching 👍
Thank you and thanks for the videos. They are super useful, informative, clear and worth a mint. Cheers@@MattCarves
Great job!
What tool did you sand the inside with?
I go into sanding on this video ruclips.net/video/gDy05RUdW6U/видео.htmlsi=KAdSydJy_B7wKDSR

This wood has been dried for many years, so pretty unlikely to crack.
