I'm 8 minutes into the video but I just wanted to comment on the "kids being a light in public school" topic. I was in public school up until I was 12. Then switched to a private Christian school for the last 5 years. Although I surrounded myself with decent people in public school, it cannot compare to having teachers whose lives are focused on caring, loving, and teaching the students. I was depressed and self harming in highschool and my teachers put my well being above my report card. It really helped being surrounded by believers in Jesus Christ! I'm grateful for my experience of both types of school but my young Spirit was not strong enough to be the light in a public school.
Thank you for sharing that. I get very defensive and offended that people think my young children should be the light for so many others at such a young age where they aren't able to fully defend their faith or their personal life choices against so many non-believers. I always thought that people were putting too much responsibility on a young child. Heck many adults can barely handle being a light in a dim world.
@@Sdewebb this. I know I fail waaay too often at being a light. It is not the job of my children to go into the mission field. They *are* the mission field.
I got a private school currently right now and I also went to a public school but then my parents found out that was not a good school to go to so they switched me over to private and private school. They’re like for one big family but no we’re not students. There are rude and mean and the teachers don’t care is when you get bullied they don’t care because the people who are bullying you pay a lot more money than you and they don’t care about that because they only care about getting paid or at least that’s what my school is and I have been begging my mom to homeschool me and put me online and she’s not working out and I’m just like I’m not in an environment I wanna be in I wanna be in a place where I feel welcome
I’m a former public school teacher of 14 years, now homeschooling my 2 boys for the past 2 years. It’s like a breath of fresh air. You are spot on with what you’ve shared and God is so good to provide this opportunity! For such a time as this… ❤️
'God' did not provide the opportunity to homeschool. The government did. It has been officially recognized as a legal option in the USA to educate your children since 1992. It isn't too surprising in a massive country where a lot of people live rurally in sparcely populated areas. Homeschooling was always extremely popular in Australia, purely out of necessity.
As a former teacher for 19 years I absolutely agree with you 100 percent. I am now homeschooling my girls and I'm excited to continue this homeschooling journey with them this year. We keep it uncomplicated and fun.
I am starting our homeschool journey with my youngest he no longer wants to be in school, he complained every single morning before class, finally when he finished 2nd grade he told me he wants to be homeschooled because he's scared of a shooter. That was enough for me to say absolutely yes.
On the flip side as a mother I started having invasive thoughts about dropping them off at school and putting them in danger and made the decision to homeschool for this and MANY other reasons. So glad I made the switch.
I'm new here. I want to say thanks so much for making & posting this video. It has lifted my confidence in being a successful homeschooling mom. My lil ones are 4 & 1. No one in my family has homeschooled before so they are pretty much like "what is that?", "You need to put them in school & work". My husband feels I should homeschool as well. I feel like I have no choice but to do it because it truly is the best choice for the children & our sanity. Thanks again for your words of encouragement & sharing your experience.
Thank you so much for this! I've been researching homeschooling all summer and have been praying to know if it's right for my family. I chose to be a stay-at-home-mom for a few reasons, one of then being I didn't see the point of having kids, and then sending them to the daycare to have them raise them. It's only been in the last year or so that I realized sending kids to school is basically the same thing, and probably more so. I still feel inadequate, but I do feel like this is the path God is guiding me to, and you have helped me feel more encouraged to step toward it.
It's not just if it's safer. The education quality is much higher. There's no time limits, budget limits, waiting for slower kids to catch up, and you can't beat one on one teaching.
One of the best homeschooling videos I've ever seen! And I've binged a lot 😂 Coming from a teacher, I feel very blessed to have received such an encouraging video from you. Thank you Thank you!
Christina! I just wanted to let you know that when I watch your videos is like talking to a friend. I live in the Dominican Republic, where Homeschooling is not popular, so videos like is a breath of fresh air to me. Thank You! I am so happy that you get to stay home & homeschool your kids full time! ❤
Wow thank you! This video was what I needed at this moment. I am struggling right now in my first year of homeschooling my only child. I am mourning the good things she is missing out on, to be honest, but my convictions are similar to yours. Thank you 🙏 I will continue to pray for guidance in this journey but I feel like God gave me answers with this video.
Great video 😁 I have been home educating my son for the past 2 years. We tried school but wasn't for my son, being a child on the autistic spectrum- he struggled to sit still for long periods of time, social skills and the routine that school had. We absolutely love home school, my son is flourishing and is so smart. We have a lovely home ed community who we see through the week too which is amazing. I'm so glad I made the decision to do things our way and love each day we get to spend together ❤ Much love to our fellow home ed families all over the world, bless each and every one of you xx
so many awesome tips! If you WANT to homeschool, you can, just have to figure it out. Homeschooling has been such a blessing to our family, I just wish our friends/family can see the huge benefits.
Wow. Amen. This video has blessed me tremendously. I am also an educator in Georgia. My husband and I have decided to homeschool our 6-year-old this year. We have 3 boys; 14, 6, and 1. I also resigned from my district-level specialist position in February to focus on my early literacy business for families (PAIR Program, LLC). I was unnerved about the homeschooling thing because it was out of the “norm” and people mentioning the “socialization” really irritated me lol😅. But your video definitely brought me the peace of mind and extra boost of confidence I needed. So I thank Abba for leading me to this video to speak to my spirit and show me we made, not the right decision, but the God decision. 🙏🏽♥️✨
I love how you say if the kids are having a great time you just let them be and start back up later or the next day. This is so validating to me! Thank you! I feel like letting them be kids in the brief time of childhood is so important but can sometimes feel like I’m doing homeschooling wrong because I’m not pushing them. So thank you again for your perspective Christina!
This is SO well articulated, heartfelt, encouraging, and reflective of all I believe too! I’m sharing this with everyone! Amen Christina!! Thank you for pouring your heart out to the world. Prayers for your family as you all transition to being home again 💕
Thank you !! I am the bread winner and I am praying for my husband to find a job to better support us. We have definitely down graded a lot to try and make it work but I still have to work part time. Your testimony increased my faith that the Lord will provide him a better job!
I agree with all you said and love your heart! We make so many sacrifices that make us different, but we remind our kids and ourselves that we are called to be different from the world and that is another opportunity to be a light!
I always have to comment on your videos and say "right on! Amen!" You are such a good cheerleader! I did something similar to you. I worked outside of the home and didn't have the faith i should have had to stay home. God brought me home and I am so thankful, i haven't looked back. He has provided financially beyond what i expected. I know we haven't met in person but my kids still refer to you as my friend. I want other moms who are thinking of joining us on the homeschool journey to feel welcome and know that we're praying for them and cheering for them and willing to support where we can.
I’m so happy I found you on here, I homeschool and absolutely love it. It brings me joy that I can spend the most important years of my children’s lives with them, the second I became pregnant with my first anytime I would think of the future it would terrify me sending them away to strangers I didn’t know, blindly trusting schools, I didn’t have a positive public school life and I didn’t want to have my kid’s experience that, I knew deep down that this was Gods plan for me and I’m proud of myself and any parent who chooses this life. God bless all of you ❤️
Your video is such an encouragement and reminder that we made the right choice. Loved this video. My next door neighbor was a single mom who worked full time and homeschooled her daughter as well. I know it’s possible.
@@RootedHomeLife I always thought so. I thought she was amazing to manage all that and she thought I was amazing to be able to raise 3 boys. Lol. Just another reminder that we shouldn’t compare, but simply lift each other up in our beautifully different stories.
First time finding your channel. 10th year homeschooling mamas here. 💓 I thought you worded this really well. Blessings to all you homeschool families out there (and those who are trying to find a way). Its not always easy (like any part of parenting) but so worth it!
I have been thinking on homeschooling for quiet a while specially now that I work at the elementary school where my kids go to. I have seen things I don’t agree with and I didn’t know who to put into words my reason why I wanted to homeschool, but your video help me put my thoughts, facts, and reasons together! I will be homeschooling my kids for sure! Thank you for your video.
Great video!!! It's my reminder to get my daughter out and about and involved. So it's not just me around her but still good fun and challenging convos with folks we know and meet together.
Hi! I'm a senior in college pursuing my teacher certification in secondary English. I'm getting married this summer before I do my semester of student teaching. I fell in love with homeschooling during college and staying home to homeschool my future kids has become a dream of mine. 💕 Thanks for this video.
Thank you for this .. I pull my autistic daughter from public school this week and I been feeling guilty all week for making this change in her life .. thank god I found your Chanel.
We're secular homeschoolers for many of the reasons you listed (I'm also a former educator who saw "the system" from the inside and knew in my heart that I didn't want my kids there).
I think this was bold and godly of you to put out there. 👍🏻 I loved being a teacher but as a parent, I don’t want to share the privilege of filling my babies minds.
I just wanted to encourage you and thank you for this video! We've been homeschooling for a yr and a half, and I loved this 🧡. I'm so glad God opened my eyes to this and thank you for sharing how important it is for us to teach our children. One of our pastors talks about training up your child in the way they should go; who is training your child? They will become like their teacher
Also, on the not being able to homeschool because you work full-time, there are a lot of people who do this. My husband and I both work full-time and homeschool. There is a whole group for working moms who homeschool
Oh my goodness I’m so excited and feel so blessed that I came across this video and you channel!!! I feel like a can totally relate with you!!! 🤗I’ve been doing so much research for quite some time since we will be homeschooling my son this upcoming school year. Both my husband and I work full time but we have been praying for a very long time and feel it so heavy in our hearts to homeschool our children. (I’m a teacher and have been teaching for 13 years) We began last year with my preschool daughter using abeka and just absolutely love the faith based learning. Our son’s 4th grade curriculum has arrived and I’m so excited to begin planning and organizing for next year. This is definitely going to be a combined effort from both my husband, my in laws and I as well as a major learning process but we are determined to make it work.🙂 My husband was homeschooled so he has always been a big advocate for homeschooling, it just took me a bit to get there 🤪thank you so much for sharing this and may God continue to bless you and your family!!!
I love homeschooling but I never thought I would!!! I definitely get that the environment matters!!! School told me that my oldest daughter is gifted but they couldn’t understand why she wasn’t learning to read!!! My husband thought that she was dyslexic and got her tested!!! We’ve found our older kids have more of a Christian influence than when they where in a “Christian school” that we found out wasn’t very Christian. Kids are kids so aren’t ready to be salt and light to the world!!! We did a Christian childcare Center and I knew there values as I was working there. Our desks are dumping grounds for their books!!! I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to teach my kids but I found out that I could especially with grandparents. My mum in law has homeschooled in the past so she is willing to homeschool again.
Did you ever find out why your daughter had a hard time learning to read? My daughter was also tested for gifted in 1st grade and she is in 4th grade and still has a hard time with reading(but she loves reading) and her grades are not that good either barely getting B's. She tries and I see her trying and doing her best. So I don't know, I have been contemplating homeschooling but I am scared to hurt her learning instead of helping her just because I was never good at math, writing and English is my second language
This is Raina. I will miss you so much. You and Coach have been the best teachers that I've ever had, and I love your whole family.❤️ at least I'll see you at church! I've cried several times already. I love you all so much. 😢❤️
Raina we all love you SO MUCH! And I’m so incredibly thankful to have met you and even more thankful we still get to see you-I was looking for you at youth group last night! You are a truly special young lady Raina ♥️
@@RootedHomeLife This is also Raina on her mom's account. You are one of the most loving families, and I will truly miss you. You helped me to become closer to God, and that's very important to me. I'll see you at church, and Switch, though I will miss some of Switch sure to soccer. I do not wish to miss any, but I'm one of the only players on my team and they're counting on me.
This video was wonderful! I am from Canada Nova Scotia. I have been a stay at home mom with my son right from the start and I am struggle with the thought of putting him in public school. Your video truly hit me hard and made me tear up. I agree with all you have said. It's hard to break the mold specially if you don't have family support outside of your home stead.
I love how you explained all of this!! This was very informative 👏🏾. I love how you encouraged listeners to seek the Lord on their decision. I feel even better about my choice to Home School. Thank you. ❤️
So happy I came across this video! I recently have a strong desire to homeschool my children and really enjoyed what you had to say as I agree completely! I have much research to do and I look forward to learning more from your videos. Thanks for the inspiration! I truly believe it is best for the family!
This is the most encouraging homeschooling video that I've ever watched and I've been feeling a bit discouraged lately. So thankful to have found you and your channel!
Absolutely love this! It’s also a great reminder for those who have been homeschooling like myself on those days where you might second guess your decision or not feeling adequate. I could write a novel on everything that led up to our decision to homeschool our younger children and never in a million years did I think I would but here I am. It’s also what really started my walk with Christ (although I have so much to learn), I do believe he laid it on my heart. ❤🙏🏻
I’m a mom of two and my husband and I have been talking about homeschooling because my 4yrs son has sickle Cell Anemia. However, I been having doubts because I don’t want him or his 2 yrs sister to miss out on the social aspects. I don’t know any homeschool moms in Drexel hill PA. Your video is giving me some comfort.
I'd like to shine on the "socialization" aspect. The classroom "socialization" is artificial socialization. My kids homeschool and they encounter people of all ages. That's life and that's true socialization! Please look up Voddie Bachaum on Home education. It may help with your decision. God Bless
You can do this mama! There is so much support!! AND, it doesn’t have to be permanent. If you try homeschooling and you don’t feel it’s best, you can always enroll in school ❤️
@@RootedHomeLife I just worry about them falling behind or being behind if I do end up placing them in school. My twins are 4.5 and my girl does great in her church pre-k but my son of course has “behavior” issues, and just wants to be a boy and run and play, like all 4/5 year old boys. I know public school will be super hard for him to adjust to.
Sooo Much encouragement and wisdom! I truly believe God is doing great things in your home and in others that follow you. I know something moved me when I watched this video. Thank you for sharing :)
I'm not sure how I landed here, but this is a great, encouraging video! I'll be checking out more of your content. We chose to homeschool because my husband's job took us to a new state every 1.5-3 years. I have been a homeschool mom for 20+ years now, graduated three with three more to go!
Thank you!! I needed this so much, I've been thinking about this a lot. I know my parents are very against homeschool and my husband is kind of on the fence (but he supports me and my choice), I needed this video.
Wow, I love this- such good reasons, and I sooo resonate with not wanting kids under flourescent lights all year and sitting at desks indoors most of the day!
Thank you for this great video, and making really good suggestions to help people if they're thinking about homeschooling but have obstacles in the way. I homeschool my children Mon - Fri and work part time on the weekends, it works well with our family and The Lord has been so good. ❤️
Grandma here, getting ready too help homeschool the grandbabies. I homeschooled my kids back when it was very rarely heard 2002-2015. The first 2 years were trial and error until we figured out our own routine. There is so much freedom, plus the peer pressure for your kids too fit into a certain mold is gone. Im excited my kids are homeschooling their children. I was worried a little that they would send theirs too school. But they see the decline in our society and how much further away from God our country is getting.
My mom is unsupportive of homeschooling even though she knows a couple people in her church that homeschooled their kids and most of those kids are now graduated and doing great things in life. This video is spoken sooooo well and you even touch on some possible counter arguments. I NEED to show this to my mother. But im scared she's still gonna say negative stuff.
You do what you have to do for your children. I'm in a similar predicament. I know it still hurts that your mother does not agree and support you or says negative things. It will be difficult without her support. Many don't have support, but you will do well.
@@amberslilrose3954Whew!!! Amen!!! 👏👏👏 I tried public school for my daughter and it was not the best experience, she felt overwhelmed, the boys used harsh language, the girls her age dressed promiscuous, the list goes on and on. She said they are not Godly people, I immediately removed her.
I work as an RN and I homeschool. It's exhausting and not for the faint of heart. Homeschool is a full time job and my job is a full time job and there is no shame in using having to work as a valid reason to not homeschool. Especially living in California where cost of living is astronomical.
Hi Michal! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts and experience! I’m assuming anyone who clicks on this video has some interest in homeschooling, so my intent is to encourage them that if they feel drawn to homeschooling, definitely pray and ask God how to show you how to make it work, and if he’s calling you to do it then He will! I also can relate to how much work it is to work full time and homeschool. I was a teacher at an inner city school, with 1/3 of my class being special needs and/behavioral disorders, and many of them struggling with depression, confusion in tent identity, parents absent or in jail…the list goes on…as you said about nursing-not for the faint of heart. If you WANT to find an excuse to not do something of course you can! And oftentimes some valid ones! But if God is calling you He will make a way + give you the grace and strength to do it!
I worked in my son's elementary school last year and subbed for a very short period of time this year (after I put them back in school after trying homeschooling the beginning of the year, I am taking them back out.. BIG MISTAKE) and what I learned is a sure way to crush a child's creativity and soul is sending them to public school. They have No freedoms. It's sad.
I subbed last year too and felt bad how the kids were treated. I enjoyed teaching but not seeing other teachers handle the kids. Now I’m trying to convince my husband I wanna homeschool but he’s not on board with me. He thought public school teachers are better than me. 😢😢😢
Loved this so much Christina! What a succinct and beautiful way to put it. I love how you point out that if we're able to teach them all the things they need to know until they're 5 then we're definitely capable of doing it beyond that! This is what I always tell inquiring or new homeschool moms. :)
Hey momma!! I have 5 children and I’ve been considering homeschooling my youngest 3 (already doing this with my medically fragile son), and I’ve been debating for years. My 2 oldest are 15 and in high school (our kids from previous relationships) and don’t have long left to school so didn’t want to pull them out of high school when they only have a couple years left until done. Just came across your video/channel when researching homeschooling stuff and just subscribed! Thanks for the info and keep up the amazing videos! ❤ Glad you were able to make homeschooling work for your kiddos/family! It would be much easier for us as a family if we decide to do this, and I also love that we can choose our children’s curriculum and teach them actual life skills which they unfortunately never learn at school and it’s sad…
hi im from ontario canada and ive been struggeling with this topic for a while but you have givin me the clairity and reasurance i needed to follow my gut and take my 5 year old of public schooling. thank you god bless
I am struggling with PMDD. I am on the fence for next year. I’m going to take advice from a friend to take my bad week and just go on nature walks and parks. 1 week off may be all I need to keep the homeschooling up. I’m going to weigh how it goes the next couple months and finalize my decision then.
I sent my children last year, and kind of regretting it and want to pull 2/3 but struggling to come to a conclusion for my middle child! 🙈 when I ask her if she wants to go back she says "I don't know" thank you for bringing all of these good points up!
Something you forgot, some people make wonderful parents, but do not have the patience to teach. I am a parent of 5 too, and teacher. BUT, not everyone has the patience to teach. Also sometimes you need to be just mom, and when you homeschooling that becomes very hard to do.
I am not a naturally patient person AT ALL. I have had to grow in this area. And parents have been raising and teaching their own children for centuries. When you are homeschooling you are still just mom, you just don’t have someone else raising your child 40 hours a week. It is our job to raise our own children we just have been conditioned to think otherwise.
Thank you for this video. It hit home for me because I went to public school my whole life and I just remember it being my place of safety and peace away from all the chaos and filth that was going on in my home. Now that I am a blood bought born again, believer, in Jesus Christ, I am feeling a pull towards homeschooling my son. However this video was a reminder for me, of where I came from, and for some, public school is a safe haven from chaos.
We were at catholic school k-6. Sixth grade was horrible for my kids, one especially. He was bullied from day 1 until the last day. Our principal only cared about sports and he took it easy on the bullies because they were big athletes. It was really hard for me to say goodbye to the school because we've been there for so many years, but my kid begged to do school at home. He had anxiety just from trying on his school uniform over the summer. So after months of agonizing we decided to try cyber school. I'm not thrilled since it's still public school, but my kids are home for 7th grade and both thrilled about it. In Catholic school, besides the bullying, my kids learned swear words, they saw kids steal, they heard sexual things from other kids, etc. Not everyone sends their kids to religious schools because they are devout. So not all of the kids will be a good influence. I was doubtful about my ability to homeschool, but I'm looking at curriculum options incase cyber school doesn't work out.
I am just interested in knowing why almost all of the public school teachers that know are against Homeschooling to the point where it almost seems like they are threatened by home schoolers.
Thank you. In our situation, I ended up pulling my children from the public school system due to an extremely traumatic home experience. It was the school that ended up threatening me due to tardies and absences during that time. The lack of empathy and black and white mentality was enough for me. Of course I wish they never had to experience any trauma but they have. Thankfully, I have been able to be there with them throughout that healing process and it’s still on going. This is why I chose to unschool for a few years. I came from a traditional Christian approach to education so to take my children out of the system was an extreme adjustment. I definitely did not do a lot right, but I have the opportunity to fix that. Prayer is a powerful tool as mothers. If we allow Him to lead, it allows me to lead as a Mother much easier and much more effectively.
what if you work for a hospital and have to have an 8-10 hour job 6:00-2:30-500pm and you dont have the support system how would that work out with a 12-14 year old ?What curriculum can I get where there would be choice for computer technology or theatre which they want to do ? Any advice would be appreciated
I went to Catholic school until 7th grade, then went to public school, then after really bad experiences in public high school/getting into trouble I was switched to home tutoring where I’d go to the library and meet with different tutors that would give me a lesson and give me my homework/tests from school. I did well with that after I actually started showing up, and I was able to pass a few classes. Then we moved to another town an hour away and I got put into alternative school/BOCES. This was pretty much just all problem kids that were placed into one school. Of all of the schooling I did, Catholic school and home tutoring was hands down the best. There were still cons to Catholic school for me, the biggest ones being that my grandma was spending so much money for me to get a good education and good moral standing, and another big one was that I had underlying mental health issues (abusive household, anxiety, and ADHD) and I was kind of left in the dust because they weren’t aware. People seemed to see the signs, but didn’t actually do anything about it. I feel as though it wasn’t due to the fact that it was a Catholic school though and it was more the fact that I was intelligent enough to be seen as “normal” but still mentally unstable/had a learning disability, and they thought I was just a lazy kid who didn’t want to pay attention, but really I was incapable of staying focused and I was also often tired from getting punished all night long the night before. The alternative school wasn’t great either because they put kids with depression and anxiety in with kids who had severe anger issues and behavioral issues, along with kids with learning disabilities ranging from dyslexia and ADHD to people who could barely even speak correctly. The teachers were mostly extremely well equipped at dealing with all of us, but it was still an environment filled with bullying and fighting. There were kids who didn’t understand boundaries and would touch people and then there were kids who were just plain mean to the lower functioning students. The BOCES aspect was good because we learned real world skills and I enjoyed that a lot, I also made some great friends, and I didn’t have anxiety about showing up to my classes because I wasn’t one of the students that got bullied and they were all smaller classes whereas in regular public school it was huge classes and I got relentlessly bullied. I eventually was able to go back to regular public school because I was in good academic standing and I advocated for myself at a meeting where I told them I had issues that I wanted them to address and help me with but that ultimately I felt I was in a place where I could attend a regular public school. That was in 12th grade and I was able to graduate that year in the public school I went to. I don’t have kids, I’m 28 right now, but when I’m more financially stable and living on my own land, I plan to adopt. When I do, I’m planning to do homeschooling co-ops or online homeschooling. I won’t send my kids to public school because of all the risks with public schools in the US (school shootings, the stats on teachers being s*xual abusers, and relentless fighting and bullying). If I do have the money I’ll try to send my kids to a Catholic/Christian school for a few years also. I personally feel like even though I struggled at Catholic school in some areas, it was still a good environment for me. I was treated kindly by the other children, there were never physical fights, kids were respectful to teachers, and we were not exposed to things that I was exposed to in public school, such as p*rnography and drugs.
Hi! What would your advice be for someone who’s husband is having a hard time accepting homeschool? I so desperately want to homeschool my 3 boys but I don’t have the support of my husband and I just don’t know how to convince him. My oldest is only 2.5 so I still have some time. I’ve explained the socialization concern which ofcourse was the first thing he brought up and I also explained that I don’t need to be a certified teacher but it’s just not clicking for him. Any advice?
I’m so sorry I missed this! But PRAY. For God to soften his heart, and open his eyes. If he’s open to watching homeschooling videos or reading books with you about it that might help!
Not at all, I’m sorry if it came across that way. I’m pretty sure I have undiagnosed PTSD from an abusive marriage, and the ongoing trauma he cause my oldest three children. I mean if there are circumstances that make it an unhealthy and/or unsafe environment for the children. There are countless teachers who have issues that are extremely unhealthy for children. As I mentioned, unless it’s an unhealthy or unsafe environment, I think the parent is always the best choice for the child. Even the best teacher is not superior to the mother as far as what’s best for the child, in my opinion. I hope that helps clarify.
Hi, just watched your video and it was so helpful, thank you for the great advice and tips 😊 I have dyslexia and information retention issues. I was wondering how I would be able to home school my children if I have trouble understanding school work myself? Thank you 😊
Thanks for the video! I’m wondering how to manage little kids who are say under 3 while managing other older children? I find the house is chaos and unfocused (I haven’t started trying a homeschool life yet, but we have had long chunks of time together). How do you keep the little ones entertained who might need constant attention? X
I do a lot of sensory play and preparing the environment ahead of time, by rotating the books and toys that are out! I have a bunch of “preschool” videos that show this, and one coming out in a couple days!!
My son is 34 yours old and I unschooled him in fourth grade. He told me in 11th grade that he had pretty much done everything that the school system was doing. He had an amazing real life frame of reference to everything presented. That said, my granddaughter is in public school. My youngest daughter is ten and has homeschooled from day one . She is as dyslexic as I am and I’m great full that I can tell here that she’s a great speller and that we need to just visit it more often then have a big ugly red grade on a page to teach her to hate spelling. Another thing. While I’m on my box is, why are kids at school shamed for misunderstanding,or being distracted? Then not only are they ashamed of a grade but then they have to get yelled at by a parent for not being good enough. It makes me sick.
What state are you in? How do I know what the actual requirements are for my state? I have looked this up before but what I found seemed to be the requirements for public schools. Would that be the same list I need to follow? I am in Florida.
Also, love your message. It has been very encouraging. I have an almost 10 year old daughter that I am seriously thinking about homeschooling this coming school year (4th grade and beyond), but I am very freaked out that I am going to fail her as a teacher. Don’t get me wrong, I am smart (ish… lol) and our home is a very safe and healthy environment, but I am still not sure I have what it takes to be her full time teacher. Also, she is currently attending a private school that is also very safe and a healthy environment, but for some reason she still wants to be homeschooled. And honestly with our world changing so much I know in my heart my husband and I need to be the ones to guide her.

Thank you! I’m going to start homeschooling my daughter. She is 15 years old and is going to be in 10 grade. What curriculum would you recommend?
Thank you!
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I’m so sorry you went through that, but so thankful you had support through it ♥️
Thank you for sharing that.
For such a time as this… ❤️
Yes! Such a breath of fresh air-so true! ♥️
@@estherkamocherobinson7062 ❤️
I am starting our homeschool journey with my youngest he no longer wants to be in school, he complained every single morning before class, finally when he finished 2nd grade he told me he wants to be homeschooled because he's scared of a shooter. That was enough for me to say absolutely yes.
I’m so sorry he felt that way, but good job listening to your baby! ❤️
On the flip side as a mother I started having invasive thoughts about dropping them off at school and putting them in danger and made the decision to homeschool for this and MANY other reasons. So glad I made the switch.
@Imzadi I was the same way, every morning when they talked away from the car I couldn't help but to think if that was the last time I'd see them.
You got this!
You can do this mama! He has called you and will equip you!!
Non homeschooled kids DO come home in the evening you know.
You also have them at home every weekend and for the holidays.
Aww thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Christina! I just wanted to let you know that when I watch your videos is like talking to a friend. I live in the Dominican Republic, where Homeschooling is not popular, so videos like is a breath of fresh air to me. Thank You!
I am so happy that you get to stay home & homeschool your kids full time! ❤
Aww yay, I love that! I’m sorry that it’s not so common, but thankful we can connect even though we’re so far away!!
You got this mama! Just my opinion, but I think anything good she’d be missing out on can definitely be found elsewhere♥️
I'm so glad I made the decision to do things our way and love each day we get to spend together ❤
Much love to our fellow home ed families all over the world, bless each and every one of you xx
Thank you for sharing your experience!!
so many awesome tips! If you WANT to homeschool, you can, just have to figure it out. Homeschooling has been such a blessing to our family, I just wish our friends/family can see the huge benefits.
Agreed! It’s so hard to understand until you experience it for yourself!!
Wow.
You’re so welcome!!
This is SO well articulated, heartfelt, encouraging, and reflective of all I believe too! I’m sharing this with everyone! Amen Christina!! Thank you for pouring your heart out to the world. Prayers for your family as you all transition to being home again 💕
Thank you so much! And you are so welcome ♥️♥️♥️
Thanks Cassandra! ♥️♥️
Thank you Teresa!
I’m only 5 minutes in and I already know that this video is everything that I didn’t know I needed today. Thank you.♥️
I’m so happy I found you on here, I homeschool and absolutely love it. God bless all of you ❤️
I’m glad you’re here! So glad we can make the choice that we feel is best for our babies!
Your video is such an encouragement and reminder that we made the right choice. Loved this video. My next door neighbor was a single mom who worked full time and homeschooled her daughter as well. I know it’s possible.
Wow! That’s amazing!!
Wow! Happy 10 years-that’s amazing!
You’re so welcome!
Great video!!! It's my reminder to get my daughter out and about and involved. So it's not just me around her but still good fun and challenging convos with folks we know and meet together.
Yes! You get to choose!! ❤️
Hi! I'm a senior in college pursuing my teacher certification in secondary English. I'm getting married this summer before I do my semester of student teaching. I fell in love with homeschooling during college and staying home to homeschool my future kids has become a dream of mine. 💕 Thanks for this video.
You are so welcome! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Homeschooling is the best -you will love it ☺️
Thank you for this .. I pull my autistic daughter from public school this week and I been feeling guilty all week for making this change in her life .. thank god I found your Chanel.
You got this mama!!
Thank you for sharing this!
100% agreed. I'm planning to homeschool my first child. God bless you Christina.
I definitely never expected this lifestyle but I am so so grateful!
So happy I came across this video! I recently have a strong desire to homeschool my children and really enjoyed what you had to say as I agree completely! I have much research to do and I look forward to learning more from your videos.
Thanks for the inspiration! I truly believe it is best for the family!
I taught high school math for 14 years before homeschooling my kiddos. You are giving great advice. ❤️ I agree with it all!

This is the most encouraging homeschooling video that I've ever watched and I've been feeling a bit discouraged lately. So thankful to have found you and your channel!
Aww I’m so glad!
I love how you vocalise my own thoughts. So as a Muslim homeschooling mom (20 years now!), I do believe you speak to/for moms of all faiths!🥰

God Bless
Thank you for this. I am WRESTLING with God on this 😭😭😭 I have to decide ASAP because registration is soon.

We chose to homeschool because my husband's job took us to a new state every 1.5-3 years. I have been a homeschool mom for 20+ years now, graduated three with three more to go!
Thank you so much for watching! And for sharing that!!
Thank you!! I needed this so much, I've been thinking about this a lot. I know my parents are very against homeschool and my husband is kind of on the fence (but he supports me and my choice), I needed this video.
You are so welcome mama! I’m excited for you-and supportive community is out there, I promise!
Wow, I love this- such good reasons, and I sooo resonate with not wanting kids under flourescent lights all year and sitting at desks indoors most of the day!
Thank you!!
But they see the decline in our society and how much further away from God our country is getting.
go grandma! I think it's so awesome that you are going to help them homeschool!!
Thank you so much for this video! We are starting our homeschooling journey this year. This was such a wonderful video.
Wow ? You have a great question 🤔 I never thought about it about private school : Yes I can teach my children 😊
Yes you can!!
Very well put. You are a constant source of inspiration and comfort for me! 😊
Thank you! I’m truly thankful for that ♥️
My mom is unsupportive of homeschooling even though she knows a couple people in her church that homeschooled their kids and most of those kids are now graduated and doing great things in life. This video is spoken sooooo well and you even touch on some possible counter arguments. I NEED to show this to my mother. But im scared she's still gonna say negative stuff.
Your mother can have her opinion. But the Lord entrusted these children to YOU.
You do what you have to do for your children. I'm in a similar predicament. I know it still hurts that your mother does not agree and support you or says negative things. It will be difficult without her support. Many don't have support, but you will do well.
@@amberslilrose3954 Amen🙏🏽💙✨
@@amberslilrose3954Whew!!! Amen!!! 👏👏👏 I tried public school for my daughter and it was not the best experience, she felt overwhelmed, the boys used harsh language, the girls her age dressed promiscuous, the list goes on and on. She said they are not Godly people, I immediately removed her.
Hi. Came accross your video today. Considering homeschool and any advice will be great.
@@RootedHomeLifedo you think for a kid with a special needs is better or safer to homeschool?
I’m a former educator and have a background in marriage and family counseling psychology; I 100% agree with you!
It's sad.
They are so blessed that their mama is paying attention and making the choices that are best for them! Good job mama!!
Thank you Nikki! ♥️
Glad you were able to make homeschooling work for your kiddos/family! It would be much easier for us as a family if we decide to do this, and I also love that we can choose our children’s curriculum and teach them actual life skills which they unfortunately never learn at school and it’s sad…
You can do it!!

I’m not even half way through this video and I couldn’t relate more!! ❤ Thank you for putting into words exactly how I feel!
This is THE BEST video about homeschooling. thank you so much!!!
I am struggling with PMDD. I am on the fence for next year. I’m going to take advice from a friend to take my bad week and just go on nature walks and parks. 1 week off may be all I need to keep the homeschooling up. I’m going to weigh how it goes the next couple months and finalize my decision then.
I’m so sorry to hear that you’re going through that-definitely take those times to rest, and do the the things that bring you and your children joy!
Thank you for sharing ❤
I’m so sorry this happened! You can do it! God will give you what you feel you lack!
You are a encouraging spirit for those who have desire but doubt
Thanks Nan!

Love every video! Is there anyway to still purchase that homeschool conference?
This is so encouraging, thank you for this!!
Great tips ave advice on choosing how to educate our kids! Love your experienced perspective.
Thanks so much!! ♥️
Thank you for your videos... This is the second one I've watched...

My pleasure! Thank you, God bless you too!!
American mom living in Austria. Figuring out how i can so it here and there or while traveling and etc.
Love your insight. What would you say to mums that feel they are just too unwell physically to homeschool?
I think there are so many variables in this case. I think it depends how unwell, how old the children are, if there is someone to help, etc.
I am new here and I can tell you am loving your video
Love this video and your channel . Thank you !
Thanks Angela! I’m glad you’re here!!
Amen! Well said.
I'm sorry but you are SO adorable! I also love your necklace :) now back to the video...
Oh my gosh, you are too sweet!
Best video ever!!! Thank you so much!!!
Absolutely love this video.
You make it sound like I shouldn’t homeschool because I have anxiety and PTSD. But I’m pretty sure there are teachers on anxiety or depression meds.
Hi, just watched your video and it was so helpful, thank you for the great advice and tips 😊
I have dyslexia and information retention issues. I was wondering how I would be able to home school my children if I have trouble understanding school work myself?
Thank you 😊
There are so many open and go curriculums that practically give you a script to follow! Something like that may be helpful!!
