President Juan Manuel Santos | State of the Planet Address 2023

Former President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos speaks at WWF-UK's State of the Planet Address, on 26th October 2023.
Our flagship State of the Planet Address was all about the wonder of forests and inspiring action to keep them standing.
In his inspiring keynote address, Former President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos had a clear and powerful message: ‘we need leaders with the courage to make difficult and bold decisions, no matter how unpopular they might be. This is not the time to fall back, but to double down in our efforts.’
He also shared his belief that each and every one of us has the power to become an environmental activist and planetary guardian: ‘we have this huge debt to pay with the coming generations, with our children and grandchildren, and we must pay it. Our common house is on fire, so we must act, here and now, with no hesitation. Let us make peace among humans and let us come together and make peace with nature.’
