The speaker works pretty good I just got mine from Walmart online if you charge it after opening the package and fully charged it the speaker's you'll be surprised even though it's small you'll be very surprised at how excellent it actually works it works like as if the speaker was bigger than it actually is my husband and I really like ours mine was on sale too at Walmart on their website my husband fix mine with a cleaner app for tablet and it made it fast I was just helping you out

i just got this tablet on black friday.... i played a movie on it and its actually pretty decent quality. doesnt seem grainy or anything. not as fast as an ipad but not bad at all. well worth the 72 bucks

from what I can see the 7" tablet also overheats(practically 100 degrees or more and I owned one actually so this is the truth)
so that means that Smartab may consistently make Tablets that overheats

I got this yesterday and its kind of slow, like RUclips app takes about 2 or 3 minutes, the connection gets cut off for some reason. Are these suppose to happen? I'm thinking about returning it back to Walmart.
No that's not normal, it could be a few things
1. RUclips app has a bug and needs to be updated
2. internet connection
3. try restarting your tablet

How do a change over to use my physical keyboard?
I've had mine less than a year on my keypad my numbers popped off 8 of them I bought an extended warranty and they told me that it was not covered under the plan, can't find anyone else to call about my problem but I loved it until it broke now I just wish I could get it fixed.
I wish you would have mentioned which CPU it has...it is one of the Intel chips made by the Chinese chip maker Rockchip...one thing that would help with the speed would be an extra 1 gb of RAM...the bad thing also it doesn't have an HDMI port but does have miracast ability

Underground Tech, the trackpad isn't an actual clicking trackpad, it's a capacitive trackpad similar to the RCA 10.1-11.6 inch tablets! Did you know that RCA has made a new tablet recently called the RCA Pro12?

Underground Tech, I'm very disappointed in the RCA Pro12 this time not looking like a ultrabook like on their Viking Pro, and Cambio devices that's also made by them, and also the ASUS Transformer Pad devices that were the first tablets to be small laptop replacements! Do you agree that RCA should be a Nokia company to get better on their devices in order to make them more successful in everything that RCA can fix with Nokia?
I agree, they're trying something different which i can appreiate, but never at that price. There's a lot of better options than that. And RCA is really just Alco electronics, but that would be interesting to see them partnered with nokia! Nokia can do a good job with the hardware and how it looks if I'm not wrong.

I don't have intel, my Smartab android version have upgraded to 7.0 Nougat. Also my Smartab 10.1 2in1 tablet is slow, my camera is bad, and especially worse: camera problem, take photo > Landscape, and check photo > Portrait, or record, and tilting problems, I've used tilting controls. I don't like it too.

The 1280×800 is actually 720 p which is great! even at 480p I'm good.
You'd think we'd have moved on from 1GB of memory by now.
I know right? I'd be okay with 1.5, but no they want to keep costs as low as they can.

It's not that a mobile device _should_ need as much memory as a fully-blown computer, but the software is all just so bloated and poorly written, and nobody wants to hang around waiting for things to load back up into memory (after being swapped out) on a mobile device. These kind of gadgets should be specced out based on how the software is that people are going to be using on it, not on some idealistic version of reality.
Channel 2012 I agree, but it's hard to differenciate the software from other tablets coming out that are also running Android 6.0

I'm not talking about the operating software image, but rather the applications themselves that are real memory hogs.
Channel 2012 Yah, I have the RCA 10 Viking Pro, a much better tablet in my opinion, but even though my Viking Pro rings a score of 26500 average, I tend to notice the lag caused by ram hungry applications. I spent an hour or so trying to find a cleaner app that does not run in the background, like CCleaner, and using google chrome to notify me of facebook things instead of using the Ram Hungry Facebook app (I still use Messenger). Also, I found that after activating developer options, I can limit the amount of background processes, also disabling a lot of apps that can't be uninstalled really helped with performance, that's why my Viking Pro rates 26500 average instead of 21000 average without disabling useless apps and using developer options. I also use AVG security on my Viking Pro which eats a fair bit of ram, but it doesn't seem to effect the performance none. It would be nice If RCA would start making tablets with 2gbs of ram, then looking for apps that don't eat up a lot of ram wouldn't much of an issue.
I just got one for Christmas along with my sister, for some reason the battery overheats and dies quickly on both tablets, also the screen lag is quite infuriating. Any tips because I'm thinking of returning them for replacements

Would you recommend this for a college student? I'm also a CNA who works in homecare and a tablet would be perfect for my job, I do all charting online and my clients have to sign on my phone but the tablet would be so much better for them (and me!) I'm torn between this or the Samsung Chrome book for school.
The chromebook would be a better choice because this things is pretty slow at times.

yes, the rca or this? that's the question. I thing I did notice in the specs is the rca has a full size usb port. Very helpful if you ever want to plug in a hard drive or flash drive. other than that they seem very similar. how does the performance compare between them?

I bought one a few hours ago during the Thanksgiving Day sale at
Walmart. It wasn't "Black Friday", so I guess that's why I paid $79.00, instead of $72.00 for mine.
I haven't opened it as I wanted to do a bit of research, first as I may want to return it. I think I bought the wrong thing, though I could use another tablet, too.
I'm looking for a drawing/graphics tablet, or at least a decent, but inexpensive tablet that I can add a pen to, connect to my laptop and install programs to draw with or edit images. This tablet can't do that, can it?

This is not a graphics tablet. I don't know if you can add pens to these regular tablets, but even if don't expect to be able to create awesome art as I don't think these tablets are strong enough to run programs like Photoshop or Illustrator decently.
Graphics tablets with a screen to draw on are incredibly expensive, and don't expect to find good ones at wallmart. The most affordable graphics tablets that offer a good experience are the ones made of a touch pad you draw on, while watching the screen of your laptop/pc. This does require some time to get used to, but after 3 days of practicing I could draw just watching my laptop.
I recommend Wacom tablets, their Intuos series is good and affordable. I bought mine for 100$ a year ago, maybe they are cheaper now.

Thanks for the information. I knew from the start that this wasn't a graphics tablet, but was curious to know if I could use it as one. Knowing that Walmart isn't the best place to ask associates about electronics, I went ahead and asked a young lady and she said that I should be able to by a Stylus pen to attach and draw just fine because it's a touch screen.
Hmm. Something still didn't feel quite right about it, but I bought it because of the price, I do need another tablet, and I figured I could do a little research and return it if it's not for me. Yeah, I figured as much about not being able to buy actual graphics tablets at Walmart, but they do sell them on their website. They range in prices between $40.00 and $800.00.
After posting my question here last night, I checked online and found that though some tablets like this are able to have pens attached to them, but you won't get any decent images because the tablet is made to sense touches and taps from fingertips, not the touches and motions from a pen. Makes sense.
I've heard a lot about the Wacom tablets, but they were so expensive when I first started looking at them a few years ago, that I gave up. I just need something for a beginner, but if you can get a Wacom for around $100.00, maybe I can find one for that or lower.
I'll be returning this tablet and maybe go ahead and get another Nook to replace the current one, and get a graphics tablet at a later time. I'll just do what I can with my laptop for now.

LMmccallL57 No problem, I was lost too when I was a beginner so I'm willing to help. Wacom tablets come in various sizes, the S (small) size will obviously be the cheapest, but trust me for a beginner this size is more than enough (after a year I still use it). You get additional 3 exchangeable pen tips (one lasts several months for me).
Mine was the Intuos Art at 100$, you can get the Intuos Draw, it was around 70$ when I was buying them.The tablets are the same, so don't worry about the price there, the difference is in the software bundles you get with them. I got a free download of the latest Corel software, now I don't remember the software that comes with the Intuos Draw, but I found this to be better.
If you decide for Wacom just look them up and decide for yourself. Also, I was really pleased with Wacom's support. I changed my laptop twice and they provided me with new keys to download the software both times after giving my tablet's serial number (even though it was supposed to be a one time download).

I was wondering about the size of the tablet being an issue, but I've heard that as long as you can't connect it to your computer and see what you're doing on that screen, then that'll be enough. One of my concerns is that I'm left-handed, and drawing or writing on paper can be an issue when using a pen that smears. I know that the graphics pen won't smear, but I wonder if my hand skimming across the tablet would cause some issues.
You were able to get a Wacom for $70.00? That's a really good price.
I know that as time goes on, the prices do go down, but for me, it was a shock and a turn-off to see them starting at $400.00 a few years ago, so I ran away screaming and didn't look back. LOL!
I've tried to use my laptop with programs like Corel Draw, Inkscape and Illustrator during free trials, just to see what's what. Some are a bit overwhelming. I feel that I might be able to handle them, or easier programs on a tablet as I'd have more control with the pen, over the mouse. Some people can use the mouse like a pen, but I haven't reached that level, and may never do so.
Since you're willing to help me, I'll be in touch when I start looking at more tablets and have more questions.

As I said, don't worry about the size, it's really enough. And I know that at least the Intuos series has an option to mark if you're left or right-handed.
As a beginner the ones you can find from 70-100$ is enough, those are the draw-on-tablet-watch-on-screen ones. The graphics tables with inbuilt screens are for professional use and can be over 1000$.
