Beetlejuice was smiling embarrassed when Lydia was asked if she takes him as her husband because BJ thought that she will keep her promise but when she yelled "No!" he jumped. BJ kept his promise to Adam and Barbara since he scared the people out of the house and he also kept his promise to Lydia, that was to help the Maitlands and he did. ...and this is the thanks he gets: Lydia refuses to marry him and Barbara puts the sandworm on him. BJ liked Lydia. It is implied that he committed suicide over a girl and that's why he didn't want Lydia to make the same mistake. In the plot for Beetlejuice goes Hawaiian , Lydia summons BJ to save her father and BJ forgives Lydia and still wants to marry her.

Eh, he leveraged her desperation to save the Maitlands with a bad deal she couldn't say no to unless she was willing to let the Maitlands perish, which he knows she wouldn't. It's a pretty dirty move. Imagine you were desperate to save your family from being killed, time quickly running out, and the only one capable of saving them says they'd only do it of you were to do something you'd *never* actually want to do. You'd probably agree because your desperate enough to save your family to agree to anything at that point. So although, yes, she broke their agreement, the agreement was unconscionable in the first place, and Beetlejuice obviously knew this and took advantage of it. Either way, he's still a great character, 10/10, still dressing up as him for Halloween.

I remember when Batman was being made, and Tim Burton was doing it and I heard that Michael Keaton was in it, and all I thought was, "What a PERFECT casting for the Joker". I still stand behind that sentiment, he should have been the Joker, not Batman.

This was the first movie I saw on VHS back in the day, and it still holds up really well. Effects are still really good for effects that were meant to be a little cheesy and weird. Michael Keaton doesn't terrify me like he did when I was a kid but he's still pretty creepy. Except one thing I didn't notice as a kid is that the score to this film is fricking amazing.

I think I was under five when I first saw this in passing on the television. Winona would become one of my favorite actresses and I aspired to be like her cool girl vibe in the 80s/90s. Somehow this movie slipped my radar so I saw it properly tonight in my thirties. Super fun and adored young Baldwin in it too. This era (late eighties/early nineties) is when Burton was at his best imo.

I saw the play version of this on Broadway last night. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! i 100% recommend it
"that...is why I won't do two shows a night anymore babe. I won't..I won't do em"- one of the best. Beetlejuice is still a classic 80's film. Always been a fan as a young kid in the late 80's. Had several of the Kenner action figures back then..my cuz had the grave that made the figure disappear and appear mini on the bottom.

This movie is truly a masterpiece
I think I was under five when I first saw this in passing on the television. Winona would become one of my favorite actresses and I aspired to be like her cool girl vibe in the 80s/90s. Somehow this movie slipped my radar so I saw it properly tonight in my thirties. Super fun and adored young Baldwin in it too. This era (late eighties/early nineties) is when Burton was at his best imo.
