The TOB helper plugin at the end of the video is NOT on RuneLite! They vet every plugin, so don't worry if you're using RuneLite! ALSO, FeJQ was NOT the scout- he reached out and clarified that... which makes sense, since they probably use level 3s to scout, and I must've missed being scouted!

While I agree that wisdom / experience is very helpful in avoiding scams, intelligence can also be beneficial and sometimes crucial. Take the scams in runescape for example, sure having played the game I could use my experience and wisdom to avoid a bait by knowing game mechanics, on the other hand people have tried to scam me in other games when I was younger and when I had no experience and arguably low levels of wisdom in regards to the way of the world and I still haven't fallen for it. In that case I level of intelligence is what prevented it from happening. The most wise people can be tricked by someone with high intelligence by knowing more about a subject just like someone who is very intelligent can be laid low by simple tricks they've never experienced. This video however shows how easily a lure can fall apart if anyone starts questioning things which often requires them to be smart enough to see the red flags if they haven't seen this bait before.
Playing HCIM is made easy with the amount of plugins, which are essentially bots, running in the background while you're playing. From automatic teles at certain health, world hopping as soon as a player is spotted, auto prayer pot drinking. If you can think of it, there's a high chance it's on GitHub, and probably for free.
Often part of the script on RS, a lot of them are native English speakers that do it on purpose because it makes them look dumber so the target is more confident in attempting the anti-scam.
Not always I was in a lurer discord before nearly all were American or British and some Swedes and they all had the bad English script. It's to lure you into thinking they are dumb and that you have a chance to anti scam them

About to submit my PhD thesis into preventing deception and manipulation (or social engineering), and have a decent history of educating police in preventing scams/frauds happening in everyday life. Got back into OSRS in lockdown and boy was my face red after falling for a lure thinking I could anti-lure, and then the lurers having the cheek to invite me to the community of lurers to 'earn my losses back'. Really great to see this education within this online community, where people commit many valuable hours for other's to take advantage of for their own monetary gain, which is a huge shame. But hey, it can happen anywhere. Great advice RE: if it's too good to be true, then it probably is. Two things to add: first line of defence = keep private chat on friends only. Second line of defence is taking care when thinking that you may be able to anti-lure, don't risk it unless you're comfortable with taking a loss, because how convoluted these are becoming - you're more likely to get burnt. I feel like a big fraction of their victims are people who have played the game for quite a bit, know the game well enough, and think they're clever enough to anti-lure only to end up with egg on their face when some unforseen bug or items does some nonsensical thing to make the scam work.
My friend list has ~100 social engineers and lurers that I've reported them a dozen times, sent tipoff emails and twitter messages and jagex does nothing. So sad.
Jagex is the most worthless company on Earth regarding customer support/relations and anyone who has been playing for a few years bare minimum knows this unfortunately lmao.

Download "sponsor block" browser plugin. It's a community effort-driven plugin to manually skip over the sponsored sections. I hate seeing these fucking mobile puke ads.
There is also a very similar lure that involves some kind of animation glitch. The lurer will appear to be inside of a safe zone and ask you to trade them, only they've used an animation to hide the fact that they're actually outside the safe zone, so when you trade them your character zips over to where they are actually standing, annnnnnd queue the ZGS specs.
I've always been super cautious even when I started playing the game when I was 12 years old.. (I am 29 now). So many scammers tried to lure me etc but I always just used common sense and never got scammed or lured.
I swear whenever I go to the GE there's always at least one account spamming and saying 3-4 names are hacked accounts used to scam, or people are offering to buy things for way over market price when they're right next to the GE and could just do it that way. It's getting a little ridiculous, TBH
Some of these bots the lurer uses to target my rsn specifically cuz i stopped him from luring my friend xD. You can see now the message: "[2ktotalwhen] is a scammer using glitches to scam you out of your items while trading" or something like that. Been over two weeks haha

Finally video evidence of how this thing is performed. I swear for the past year that everytime I was hunting ecu keys with tassies on, 1 out of 3 trips would involve a guy attacking me and then a nice guy randomly appearing and skulling on him with a blowpipe to try and "help me".. such a blatant skull trick thats so easy to avoid. Just use hidden attack options and press auto-retaliate.
Got baited on 2nd floor varrock castle once, they found me doing solo corp runs and just by my equipped gear via the bot scout thing. I tried to out smart them but ended up failing and loosing 300m. That was a year ago. From then on and even to this day, Everytime I go to the GE, I always unequip my expensive things just to avoid any harassment. These types of people are truly toxic and have no morals
Duuuude. I had the exact same thing happen to me in the same spot around 2 years ago now and also lost around 300m... I was so tired at the time, couldn't believe I fell for it. That lure spot behind the door was patched literally the day after I got lured, it was so surreal. Did they tell you to add them on discord after to get the money back, and then try to make you trade more with the promise of being able to join their luring discord and work with them luring people? It was 2 american guys on 3 accounts who lured me. I wonder if we were victim to the same guys. Since then I just had my private messages off, and now only play group iron with friends. I had so much anxiety and stress from that lure.
I ran into the TOB pluging lure, a maxed account tried to lure me with this plug-in, they add you on discord and try to convice you they will teach you tob while you scale the raid for them. They send you a picture of the gear you should use (maxed melee, range and mage) I asked them if I can use void they told me maxed will be easier to learn (they just want you to risk more). Then they send you the plugin, it is a OpenOSRS custom plugin and the instructions on how to install it. That's when i googled the plugin and found out about the scam. When you install the plugin they tell you to hop worlds for better ping. As pugger said it will just black your screen and hop you into pvp world. I almost lost over 2b.
imagine that you spent hundreds of hours farming enough gold to finally buy that Twisted bow that you wanted months ago, then you get it and not even 1m after that you are already being whispered and have trade offers from 3 diferrent accounts, dude is more dangerous to have expensive shit on runescape than in real word. dont trust no one
I used to do gwd and corp with randoms from GE and never had issues splitting massive drops like sigil. Shame to see the game is even more degenerate now, lurers never seemed that common before and were blatantly obvious. both these tricks mightve got me if they were people in my clan or something
I remember trying to play along with a lure team, thinking I knew exactly what the lure was.. only to be pulled out of a safe zone with a delayed movement glitch. Lost tbow, scythe, full arma, bandos, and some other stuff. Was about 3b at the time. Figured I was safe because I was still in the bank; went to trade which forced me out because they had delayed movement and immediately got stacked out by the team.
A couple of years ago I *almost* lost my tbow to a very similar lure. There is a gate in Varrock that, when the gate is open, enclosed a 1-tile area. This gate never received the "stuck door" treatment, so when I dropped my tbow there in an attempt to antiscam, they spammed the door and I couldn't get to it. Unfortunately for them I realized I could just go to that spot on another world and hop to it, which worked. They couldn't believe it and wanted me to show them in trade
I do a lot of wilderness slayer with and the amount of skull trickers is ridiculous, they are quite easy to spot once you have seen a few, best thing to do is just only fight using auto retaliate and logout as soon as you can. If they just straight up killed me I would lose on average about 200k but thanks to their greed they let you escape easily. Some of them let you kill them and then log in on the lootpile while you are spamming it. just log out as soon as they log in and you can get away with the loot.
Honestly I don't understand why Jagex employees don't just alternate spending an hour each day sitting outside the GE with a twisted bow banning all these accounts and whoever is associated with them? Edit: Because if they get a hit every 30sec or so like you said then they could knockout at least 60 accounts per hour

Was only a week ago I ran into this one. Knowing that you loose stuff even if unskulled being carefully to never do an action while I had stuff on me, I'd trade request before grabbing stuff, then they'd accept after I banked, so there was no chance of me getting dragged out. We sat at the farming guild for a good 45 minutes wasting this guys time. Was fun. He then tried to do it at fossil island bank which has no safe zone (thinking I didnt know about the skull irrelevancy) simply never pulled stuff out.

Damn, those dudes actually happened to try to lure me once. I was farming for Dragon Pickaxe on Chaos Elemental with a Tbow on my iron, I was risking only a couple Rune arrows and Black Dhide. My rule is always to die or escape whenever any pker attack me, but in this case I just said: "You want me to attack someone on deep wildy with a Tbow? Yeah, good luck with that lol"
@@ninehundredthousand2555 nah man its not like that. runelite isnt great for pking. alot of pkers use openosrs client. the plugin mentioned in this video is used via that client. If you really want to be as safe as possible, always use runelite.
I've been messing with lurers a bit recently. And they have made it so whenever i go to ge a spam bot logs in spams the usual message about player using glitches to scam people from their items but with me rsn in them.This might be a one time thing but i believe those "warn" bots are not only owned by lurers but also used to punish the people who legitimately save their friends from these people
Ouch. This isn't nearly as bad but I'm pretty sure I lost my Guthix this way too many years ago. I was F2P and saved up for over a week mining and selling iron and coal. Spent awhile looking for someone who would sell it at my price, and finally acquired it. But then I went into a PVP world for fun with it on, and lost it still when I could have sworn I wasn't skulled. Not gonna lie, it made me get a bot to go for the bigger prize which was full Sara. But theeeeen I gave up because RS became unrewarding ever since I had started cheating. It wasn't worth all the trouble anymore because I wasn't even the one playing anymore. Eventually I did come back though and played legitimately again.
Ive encountered this skull trick on my ironman. I had arma helm, blowpipe, and zammy chaps. Luckily i play with player indicators and saw the new guy log in under me. I was able to log out while TBed.
I knew exactly what was going on the entire time and these guys still got me. I just chugged restores and let myself die to ensure protect item stayed on. Lost 5m.
Sirpugger, those exact two people tried that on me, and I anti-pked them(the guy dressed as a paper) It was obvious to me that they were attempting to skull trick me. The “key hunter” Sneaky cheeks, told me he only world hopped to kill spiritual mages in a specific spot, which I knew was a lie. After anti pking the other guy a first time, they did come back eventually and I chanced the pker a few times. 30 minutes later again(I was dry on getting keys) they were in my world again...and didn’t even bother because they knew that I knew what was going on
he hasn't done that since 2011 lol he's also way older now and clearly grew up a bit lmao a lot of us jumped on shit like luring and scamming back then when we got the chance, not saying it's right but yeah people do grow up ya know

I ran into a scam the other day where he asked me to drop my items and then he'd trade me a grand seed pod with 6 m and I was supposed to spam click the seed pod. His friend messaged me saying don't click the pod and just keep the gold. He holds the trade and makes sure you have 28 open slots and then just waits for your items to appear on the ground so he can pick them up. 10 second of staring at a trade screen I realized that was the scam part and made it off scott free.
I had a similar scam pulled on me. Guy wanted me to drop 20m and he would give me 40m. The second person dm me saying, just pick up your money before the timer and then don't press the tele he gave you. But the dm scammer gave the wrong time for when dropped items become available to pick up. He said just set a timer for 90 seconds so you know you won't lose your money. Except for the trade scammer who stalls the trade so it takes the full 60 seconds so your money appears on the ground and a second account steals it. Obviously, I knew the drop timer length so didn't fall for it but wasn't able to scam him which they count on thinking you can scam them. So in a way, videos like this make their job better because the avg player thinks they are smart enough to scam the scammer when they aren't.
Had this happen but I knew it was a scam and purposely wasted an hour of their time...when I confronted the scammer he googled my in game name and acted like he had hacked my computer lol while it was just him looking at google images of my Reddit posts and describing things that I’d uploaded lol...what a sad life these scammers have..worst part is even with screenshots as proof jagex STILL hasn’t banned the players

I was skulled I think without wearing the armor, but then I equipped it for fun later and accidentally died again to someone. When I died that second time I unfortunately lost my armor. :/ I was super confused and didn't understand how I lost it, when I was almost 100% positive that I wasn't skulled. I guess this pretty much answers it.
Yeah i got skull tricked 2 days ago at wildi gwd. I always take 1 worthy item even though im not skulled. So wat was my gear? I was wearing dwarf helm, glory, black body, black chaps, barrow gloves, climb boots, addy def and a vig chainmace. Soon as i got skulled i got claw speced, barraged ballistad and everything. But my black dhides safed me and i got out.
encountered the GWD skull trickers before while getting ecumenical key. wore a BCP and had a whip and other junk so only thing they could have gotten is my whip unless they smited me. i just ran away and logged out while they were pretend fighting. pretty sad

I caught a lurer on OSRS named Death Rune. He messaged me by saying he liked my username and tried to force me to jump on his world for a “party drop”. There’s a lot of scripts these crooks make.
Hey pugger i think i found a lms mule at edge. He logs in around midday in Amsterdam time hops a few worlds and logs out. Has like 900 lms points and the bots he trades have a lot of points too. I dont know why they teleport to edgeville and i couldnt find many other bots he traded but he logs in sits in the bank and logs out and then the bot logs out as well. It seems like this is the final step trading them the items they got from lms.

Except I knew something was off, so when the dude went under me I just logged out XD Wanted no part of it ^_^ This was the exact thing I saw; three things that tipped me off: 1: PKer ran straight past the first guy he would have seen, made no sense. 2: Why was this guy acting like a complete noob and failing to attack when he clearly had intent to kill? and 3rd: These two showed up at the same time, if they were going to kill me, I would be dead by now. Remember, if something doesn't feel right, get outta there!! =D
My cousin and I double gmauled one of those guys and actually took him down! He ended up just coming back and raging/ watched us farm the rest of our keys for 40mins.

Hey I'm curious: Note I did not lose anything I got asked to do one of those vid things but the guy had me stand next to him at port psic in kourend. He said i needed to stand in a specific spot and trade show my tbow. The area was in a safezone, one tile away was the pvp zone. How does this trick work? I never found out because I bailed when he asked for my "most expensive gear" and I'm I know I'm not out smarting them.

About to submit my PhD thesis into preventing deception and manipulation (or social engineering), and have a decent history of educating police in preventing scams/frauds happening in everyday life. Got back into OSRS in lockdown and boy was my face red after falling for a lure thinking I could anti-lure, and then the lurers having the cheek to invite me to the community of lurers to 'earn my losses back'.
Really great to see this education within this online community, where people commit many valuable hours for other's to take advantage of for their own monetary gain, which is a huge shame. But hey, it can happen anywhere. Great advice RE: if it's too good to be true, then it probably is. Two things to add: first line of defence = keep private chat on friends only. Second line of defence is taking care when thinking that you may be able to anti-lure, don't risk it unless you're comfortable with taking a loss, because how convoluted these are becoming - you're more likely to get burnt.

I feel like a big fraction of their victims are people who have played the game for quite a bit, know the game well enough, and think they're clever enough to anti-lure only to end up with egg on their face when some unforseen bug or items does some nonsensical thing to make the scam work.

My friend list has ~100 social engineers and lurers that I've reported them a dozen times, sent tipoff emails and twitter messages and jagex does nothing. So sad.

Download "sponsor block" browser plugin. It's a community effort-driven plugin to manually skip over the sponsored sections. I hate seeing these fucking mobile puke ads.
Sirpugger the main reason OSRS is staying up and alive from all these bonds.
There is also a very similar lure that involves some kind of animation glitch. The lurer will appear to be inside of a safe zone and ask you to trade them, only they've used an animation to hide the fact that they're actually outside the safe zone, so when you trade them your character zips over to where they are actually standing, annnnnnd queue the ZGS specs.
I've always been super cautious even when I started playing the game when I was 12 years old.. (I am 29 now). So many scammers tried to lure me etc but I always just used common sense and never got scammed or lured.
I’ve been seeing more of this in the GE lately and its always seemed to lead to the lurer getting roasted by everyone in the area
I swear whenever I go to the GE there's always at least one account spamming and saying 3-4 names are hacked accounts used to scam, or people are offering to buy things for way over market price when they're right next to the GE and could just do it that way. It's getting a little ridiculous, TBH

Some of these bots the lurer uses to target my rsn specifically cuz i stopped him from luring my friend xD. You can see now the message: "[2ktotalwhen] is a scammer using glitches to scam you out of your items while trading" or something like that. Been over two weeks haha

Finally video evidence of how this thing is performed. I swear for the past year that everytime I was hunting ecu keys with tassies on, 1 out of 3 trips would involve a guy attacking me and then a nice guy randomly appearing and skulling on him with a blowpipe to try and "help me".. such a blatant skull trick thats so easy to avoid. Just use hidden attack options and press auto-retaliate.
Got baited on 2nd floor varrock castle once, they found me doing solo corp runs and just by my equipped gear via the bot scout thing. I tried to out smart them but ended up failing and loosing 300m. That was a year ago. From then on and even to this day, Everytime I go to the GE, I always unequip my expensive things just to avoid any harassment. These types of people are truly toxic and have no morals
Duuuude. I had the exact same thing happen to me in the same spot around 2 years ago now and also lost around 300m... I was so tired at the time, couldn't believe I fell for it. That lure spot behind the door was patched literally the day after I got lured, it was so surreal.
Did they tell you to add them on discord after to get the money back, and then try to make you trade more with the promise of being able to join their luring discord and work with them luring people?
It was 2 american guys on 3 accounts who lured me.

I ran into the TOB pluging lure, a maxed account tried to lure me with this plug-in, they add you on discord and try to convice you they will teach you tob while you scale the raid for them. They send you a picture of the gear you should use (maxed melee, range and mage) I asked them if I can use void they told me maxed will be easier to learn (they just want you to risk more). Then they send you the plugin, it is a OpenOSRS custom plugin and the instructions on how to install it. That's when i googled the plugin and found out about the scam. When you install the plugin they tell you to hop worlds for better ping. As pugger said it will just black your screen and hop you into pvp world. I almost lost over 2b.

I used to do gwd and corp with randoms from GE and never had issues splitting massive drops like sigil. Shame to see the game is even more degenerate now, lurers never seemed that common before and were blatantly obvious. both these tricks mightve got me if they were people in my clan or something

I remember trying to play along with a lure team, thinking I knew exactly what the lure was.. only to be pulled out of a safe zone with a delayed movement glitch.

Was about 3b at the time. Figured I was safe because I was still in the bank; went to trade which forced me out because they had delayed movement and immediately got stacked out by the team.

A couple of years ago I *almost* lost my tbow to a very similar lure. There is a gate in Varrock that, when the gate is open, enclosed a 1-tile area. This gate never received the "stuck door" treatment, so when I dropped my tbow there in an attempt to antiscam, they spammed the door and I couldn't get to it. Unfortunately for them I realized I could just go to that spot on another world and hop to it, which worked. They couldn't believe it and wanted me to show them in trade
This is why you always set player attack options to hide for wildy pvm.
I do a lot of wilderness slayer with and the amount of skull trickers is ridiculous, they are quite easy to spot once you have seen a few, best thing to do is just only fight using auto retaliate and logout as soon as you can. If they just straight up killed me I would lose on average about 200k but thanks to their greed they let you escape easily.
Some of them let you kill them and then log in on the lootpile while you are spamming it. just log out as soon as they log in and you can get away with the loot.
Honestly I don't understand why Jagex employees don't just alternate spending an hour each day sitting outside the GE with a twisted bow banning all these accounts and whoever is associated with them?
Edit: Because if they get a hit every 30sec or so like you said then they could knockout at least 60 accounts per hour

Was only a week ago I ran into this one. Knowing that you loose stuff even if unskulled being carefully to never do an action while I had stuff on me, I'd trade request before grabbing stuff, then they'd accept after I banked, so there was no chance of me getting dragged out. We sat at the farming guild for a good 45 minutes wasting this guys time. Was fun. He then tried to do it at fossil island bank which has no safe zone (thinking I didnt know about the skull irrelevancy) simply never pulled stuff out.

My rule is always to die or escape whenever any pker attack me, but in this case I just said: "You want me to attack someone on deep wildy with a Tbow? Yeah, good luck with that lol"

I've been messing with lurers a bit recently. And they have made it so whenever i go to ge a spam bot logs in spams the usual message about player using glitches to scam people from their items but with me rsn in them.This might be a one time thing but i believe those "warn" bots are not only owned by lurers but also used to punish the people who legitimately save their friends from these people

Ouch. This isn't nearly as bad but I'm pretty sure I lost my Guthix this way too many years ago. I was F2P and saved up for over a week mining and selling iron and coal. Spent awhile looking for someone who would sell it at my price, and finally acquired it. But then I went into a PVP world for fun with it on, and lost it still when I could have sworn I wasn't skulled. Not gonna lie, it made me get a bot to go for the bigger prize which was full Sara. But theeeeen I gave up because RS became unrewarding ever since I had started cheating. It wasn't worth all the trouble anymore because I wasn't even the one playing anymore. Eventually I did come back though and played legitimately again.

It was obvious to me that they were attempting to skull trick me. The “key hunter” Sneaky cheeks, told me he only world hopped to kill spiritual mages in a specific spot, which I knew was a lie.
After anti pking the other guy a first time, they did come back eventually and I chanced the pker a few times. 30 minutes later again(I was dry on getting keys) they were in my world again...and didn’t even bother because they knew that I knew what was going on

I ran into a scam the other day where he asked me to drop my items and then he'd trade me a grand seed pod with 6 m and I was supposed to spam click the seed pod. His friend messaged me saying don't click the pod and just keep the gold. He holds the trade and makes sure you have 28 open slots and then just waits for your items to appear on the ground so he can pick them up. 10 second of staring at a trade screen I realized that was the scam part and made it off scott free.
just watching that God Wars skull trick gives me anxiety. Changing the "I" to "l" is simple yet ingenious.
I had a similar scam pulled on me. Guy wanted me to drop 20m and he would give me 40m. The second person dm me saying, just pick up your money before the timer and then don't press the tele he gave you. But the dm scammer gave the wrong time for when dropped items become available to pick up. He said just set a timer for 90 seconds so you know you won't lose your money. Except for the trade scammer who stalls the trade so it takes the full 60 seconds so your money appears on the ground and a second account steals it. Obviously, I knew the drop timer length so didn't fall for it but wasn't able to scam him which they count on thinking you can scam them. So in a way, videos like this make their job better because the avg player thinks they are smart enough to scam the scammer when they aren't.
Had this happen but I knew it was a scam and purposely wasted an hour of their time...when I confronted the scammer he googled my in game name and acted like he had hacked my computer lol while it was just him looking at google images of my Reddit posts and describing things that I’d uploaded lol...what a sad life these scammers have..worst part is even with screenshots as proof jagex STILL hasn’t banned the players

7:55 Woah so this must why I lost my Guthix in a PVP world all those years ago when I was F2P. I was skulled I think without wearing the armor, but then I equipped it for fun later and accidentally died again to someone. When I died that second time I unfortunately lost my armor. :/ I was super confused and didn't understand how I lost it, when I was almost 100% positive that I wasn't skulled. I guess this pretty much answers it.

Yeah i got skull tricked 2 days ago at wildi gwd. I always take 1 worthy item even though im not skulled. So wat was my gear? I was wearing dwarf helm, glory, black body, black chaps, barrow gloves, climb boots, addy def and a vig chainmace. Soon as i got skulled i got claw speced, barraged ballistad and everything. But my black dhides safed me and i got out.
encountered the GWD skull trickers before while getting ecumenical key. wore a BCP and had a whip and other junk so only thing they could have gotten is my whip unless they smited me.
i just ran away and logged out while they were pretend fighting. pretty sad
ive had this exact type of skull trick tried on me in wildy gwd and also at chaos fanatic. they got very mad at me both times when i told them i wasnt interested in skulling.
I caught a lurer on OSRS named Death Rune. He messaged me by saying he liked my username and tried to force me to jump on his world for a “party drop”.
There’s a lot of scripts these crooks make.
Hey pugger i think i found a lms mule at edge. He logs in around midday in Amsterdam time hops a few worlds and logs out. Has like 900 lms points and the bots he trades have a lot of points too. I dont know why they teleport to edgeville and i couldnt find many other bots he traded but he logs in sits in the bank and logs out and then the bot logs out as well. It seems like this is the final step trading them the items they got from lms.
OH MY GOD! This nearly happened to me! Except I knew something was off, so when the dude went under me I just logged out XD Wanted no part of it ^_^ This was the exact thing I saw; three things that tipped me off: 1: PKer ran straight past the first guy he would have seen, made no sense. 2: Why was this guy acting like a complete noob and failing to attack when he clearly had intent to kill? and 3rd: These two showed up at the same time, if they were going to kill me, I would be dead by now. Remember, if something doesn't feel right, get outta there!! =D

I got asked to do one of those vid things but the guy had me stand next to him at port psic in kourend. He said i needed to stand in a specific spot and trade show my tbow. The area was in a safezone, one tile away was the pvp zone.
How does this trick work? I never found out because I bailed when he asked for my "most expensive gear" and I'm I know I'm not out smarting them.
