I miss having a loud setup. Just got a mediocre system now, due to dad life. Just a Kicker TL7 12" in a Kicker prefab preloaded enclosure. Still hits decent for a single sub though.
That’s alright man!! Kids definitely more important by a lot
@@ParkerTheBasshead question; back in 2002 I had 2x SPLW-15's. Had SPL in blue for the dust cap. Did the company go under, or get rebranded? Had those on a MA Audio HC4002 and they hit pretty hard. Had to downsize, went with 2x Audiobahn Eternal 12's. Then it's been years till I made my current setup.
Build a wall let the kid a sit in the port 😆 jkjk
I have American Bass XMAXX 15”, and it doesn't say anything on the sheet about whether the subwoofer should break, or if it's ready to play?
Similar issue here but instead of dad life it's bad life lol
🤣 hell yeah! FULL TILT SERIES!!! The 20Hz test had me cracking up! I was impressed with the low mechanical noise. Everything seems lined up well.
I really like the looks of this sub and the power you put to it I was really surprised with that as well! I really enjoy your videos and how well you explain everything about each sub and the tests you put them through. I’ve actually learned quite a bit from your videos and I truly appreciate it Parker.
Good to hear David I really appreciate you!
box is cheap it buzzes mine will not buzz. and we had to put in special glass.
@@ParkerTheBassheadI have a pair of american bass hawk 12inch subwoofers. How can I find the specifications and what measurements of the box can you give me? It should be mentioned that I have a space of 38" wide 16" high 24" or 26" deep
Man you have grown a lot. I remember 2 years ago when i looked up for a skar sdr review and your channel popped up. Because of you i got a skar evl and other things. Glad to see the the growth that u deserve.
Try a skr vxf
Remember that if you want to see him test certain subs we’ve got to share the videos and also be sure to comment on the videos. Parker is as thorough as you can be when he does his test.
He could go that extra step and measure the TSP too which is pretty easy these days as. Manufactures TSP aren't always right.
Soo true. Im new to his channel. But would love to know the frequency he keeps frying the subs at. He may be just melting coils. I hope for all sub failures to be from over excursion. :)
His Q2 was low. lol I saw the xmax. haha
building a box and testing it in ur car is not as thorough as can be lol
@@JBlNN And then there are ppl like me who are hella DEEP in it and use some cheap sealed box to measure right at the cone and then at the front seat again to measure the cabin acoustics and design the new enclosure with that in mind.
Huge shoutout to you Parker. You’re definitely coming a long way! I’ve Been here since the cheapest Walmart dual, And will remain here till there’s a TXX-BDC4 on your gravestone.
Off topic info:
In a previous video you had issues when you inverted that Audiopipe subwoofer.
I just got one and you can remove the gasket and flip it over so the flat smooth part is on the top.
This allows you to invert mount with a tight seal. Also useful for dual subwoofers mounted face to face in an isobaric enclosures.
Parker, have you ever looked into 18" subs? It will change your life. you have the room and the power. you can do box builds for your vids.
I might here at some point!!
@@ParkerTheBasshead i got 2 18in x v2 subs in my golf lol. you can def fit them and the preasure and air movment is unrivaled!!! try it out bro well worth it stick 3 in your ride and enjoy!
I got a Sundown 15” wired to 8 ohms Fs of about 32Hz.
Then I bought an 18” wired to 4 ohms with an Fs of about 23Hz.
Guess what?..pretty much was the same output! Not sure what’s goin on but that’s what happened. Now I feeling ditching the 18”, putting back the 15” but with double the port area and see what happens.
When I pump up the 18”, I smell something burning while I never had that issue with the 15”.
Both are rated pretty much the same at 600watts rms.
@@Bassotronics what Sundown subs do you own? Sundown doesn't have an 18" model that is 600rms. What is your box size? Box tune? Port area?

Thanks man!!
That’s bad ass!!! Thanks for always upload and sharing knowledge 😎🙏🏽
Yessir thank you for the support!!
@@ParkerTheBasshead I was wondering if you might be able to answer a question for me? I'm somewhat new to the game.
I wanna install dual alternators. My question is can I run them both to power the system as a whole vehicle and stereo?
Or do I have to run them as separate system so it's one powering the vehicle and the other one powering the stereo? Shops around me just don't wanna answer these questions and it's honestly frustrating.
If I had a recommendation you should totally make a separate box for the larger subs (the ones that take up more space in the box) see what they can do in a bigger box 👍
I agree, this box doesn't seem like it is big enough even with it inverted lol
What type of drawer do you recommend for a American Bass XMAXX 15””, ft3, inch2 port?
Mines .5ohm as well ,inverted in a 4 cf dual aeroport , 2.5" baffle , on an AP 1800. Underpowered but breakin necks forsure
Heck yeah! I bet it gets down

Back in the 90s I was so torn between some American bass subs, and lanzar DC. I went with the lanzars. 30 years later I still dream of owning some American bass subs. Hopefully 23 is the year!
MY GOOOD THAT SURROUND GOT ME HAAAARD
When i was a kid I had subs in a parking cone in my room! Always been a bass head but as I get old….er I prefer sound stage and quality but still get a kick out of seeing these crazy sub builds!!!!
I assisted with installing 4 American Bass XMaxxx Monster 15s 2 weeks ago, monster subs but if you don't have the right amp or order the wrong DVC type then ya need to wire them up to 2 ohms or to .25
Because of you I now have these two in my F150. I appreciate you very much!
I love what you said about MAX POWER... LOL every company is pushing those numbers like they really mean something. Ive got a pair of some old audiobahn flame q 10s that are running 1500RMS each on a Taramps 3k. They were rated 1000rms and 2000 peak, I've had them since 2005, never blown slammin every day at full tilt.
I used to run port wars type outlaw SPL back in the day. The classes were set by your total inches of subs... 1-15" , 15-24" , etc. I had a single AW1200 Audiobahn on a 1K amp in a box tuned to 35hz, smallish square port. Rules were meter guy sits in passenger side and places mic anywhere you choose where he can reach by hand. I'd play my chosen tone with port front facing in a Fox body hatch and the highest I hit was a 173. That was in 2003. I'd be in the smallest class with a brand that got dissed for "being flashy" and get the highest numbers of the WHOLE show. Pissed guys off with 4 15's. Its all about playing by the rules.
@@fiveohgod Ha, that's great. Mine are in a very large 4th order bandpass box in the trunk of a Lincoln LS. Its tuned to 32hz and measuring in the high 140s on the windshield. I only got to measure it once so I couldn't play around with it. I think if I put the seats down I could've measured louder. As you demonstrated, where you measure matters. Love them audiobahns not many Gen Z guys got to see them. I would love to get some of the Eternals or immortals they made before going out of business. From what I understand Circuit city was the death of them. They had a deal to sell audiobahn subs. They sent the speakers, Circuit city went under and didn't send the speakers back forcing Audiobahn to eat all the cost. Putting them out of business as well. All cause Circuit city was trying to compete with best buy and their car audio department...
@@Jamez84 whew, that is a low tuned 4th
I had a 12in flame sub that was freaking AWESOME!! Totally rocked in a decent box, and handled some pretty big wattage!
Now the only somewhat oldie i have is my Audiopulse Axis quad 1 ohm voice coil 12" sub that weighs like 54lbs! That baby has given me years of slamming bass, cant wait to build a nice 2.5 cu ft box tuned to like 32hz... Its gonna be sweet with my 2500 xtr orion amp pushing it!!
I was going to get audiobahns 12 inch but went with directed compX instead. My dodge neon couldn’t take much more than 1200 watts. It still sounded really good.
My buddy bassin semi just got done with his build in his semi truck he has 8 of these in there on 40,000k crazy loud I just order 2 15's that's all I need can't wait to break em in love your video's bro💯🤘🏿🔥
Awesome review brother you were thorough as hell💪💪 think you can do a resilient sounds platinum in the near future?
I need to check some of there stuff out for sure
@@ParkerTheBasshead 1 of your 8k's on a platinum 15 would get down nasty
Parker, can you get any DD Audio subwoofers? I would love to see those put to the test!
They were using max watts back in the 80s when I was running Pyle Driver subs… but we knew to always look at RMS values
No doubt, my DB3515'S have a 3.5in coil and roughly the same power rating now I do know that my coils were Japanese made and they're insane can handle 25k burps all day long without breaking a sweat! I wonder if these AB 3.5in coils are the same or if they're manufactured by someone else... Mine is a black flat wound 3.5in but it's like a flat black chalky color not like my 4in PE coils in my wolfram PT-18's that have the shiny black hi-temp coating good for up to 600deg Fahrenheit
You should do a video comparison of different enclosures same subs and see what difference in numbers you get. Alot of people on a budget don't realize how much money a badass box can save.
That american bass subs is crazy.
Calculate the Xmax by subtracting the thickness of the top plate from the height of the voice coil winding and divide it by two. That describes how far the cone can move forward while keeping the voice coil inside the magnetic gap. A sub can go FAR beyond xmax but motor force and cone control will be significantly reduced until you reach xmech, or the mechanical limits of the driver.
an example of a sub exceeding xmax but not yet reaching xmech is at 14:20. right before the tone stops, you horrible sound is the sub losing control of the cone. you hear it again at 14:36 and a very light touch of xmech. you hear the same thing at 14:50. a blatant example of xmech the clacking sound you hear at 15:02. thats the former beating itself to death as the sub has reached xmech. the sub doesnt pick up any more output because youve exceeded its power handling and excursion capabilities.
this sub has a stupidly high moving mass and in turn, also has high qms (mechanical dampening). that is how they got the Fs to 31hz. the qes shows that motor force (BL) is easily able to overcome the internal resistance of the sub. this is a good thing. this sub has a pretty low VAS rating due to how stiff it is but that also means itll need to be a smaller ported box to really get anything out of it. the overall design of this sub is really to play in a narrow band around its Fs in a smallish box and not much else. its not musical at all, although with the right box just about anything is possible.
What makes a sub musical
@@DjR3aper technically, nothing. however, subs are built with certain parameters in mind, some of which make them suboptimal for listening to music.
@@DjR3aper a decent fs, a decent xmax, a low mms generally will allow a subwoofer to play the low hz while also having good extension to move lots of air, the low weight of the soft parts along with a somewhat softer suspension would allow the sub to react or have a quicker response to changes in the music. But you will also have to have a strong motor force to keep the cone in control since you would rely less upon a stiff suspension to keep the coil within its optimal travel
What's your opinion on the 15"?
This is my third time watching this video. You look happier than a clam while blasting that thing.
Dude I was!!! It’s such a dope sub
I wish those subwoofers came in the 18s. I would of got one.
I like watching Parker cheesin from ear to ear when hes jamming.
Wow. You are doing so good with looking at the lens and not the monitor screen on the camera. Can't wait until it its flawless and we (probably only me) feel like you're talking directly to us. Great work!!
I will say I enjoy the videos a lot and it’s def good info u put out and the tests u do w the numbers on paper and real life scenario makes it worth watch…I will say in my obs extended cab Chevy I have a single 10 that acts this way and slams like this …form the 90s ….u heard me right! But I will keep some secrets I will say it actually rattles my tail gate!
This is an absolute monster🔥it take the 3000rms easily it can take way more than that very awesome sub
Ohh hell yeah, this video has been long long awaited I'm stoked!
Whatever it takes. 😁 one of my favorite tracks tor testing SQ. It's got great bass notes.
It really is!!!
Little more challenging to work with than the Imagine Dragons' track, but for setting up equalization for SQ, I'd go with Marshmello's song "Happier". With the aid of my HU's built-in spectrum analyzer, it's easy to tell where any dips and valleys exist across the entire frequency range. ✌🏻
@@RAW_Reality "Happier" is such an underrated track when it comes to sound systems, it never gets the same playtime that tracks like what Imagine Dragons make get. But when it comes to watching your spectrum analyzer dance, check out "E.B.A.H" from Tech Nine, it'll make it go ham... LoL.
@@AppAccess123 LOL. EBAH is a great track, but it's a bit spastic for EQ purposes. Though if all you're going for is making your analyzer dance and you can stand to listen to EDM, tracks like Caked Up's remix of "Let Her Go", Timmy Trumpet's "Mantra", and Hyper Crush's "Rage" will give it quite the visual seizure. 😉✌🏻
@@ParkerTheBassheadwas it pretty musical?
Back in the day I had a friend named Scott ( had a Nissan truck with 15” ) would love this
Great video as always Parker!! I am really interested in emf audios subs and would LOVE for you to review them next!!!
I had a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T with two 15" JL Audio subs and a massive PPI amp and it was only 146.2 SPL in a competition. Less wattage than this, but this is only one 12". Mind blown.
I just need 4 of these and a steering wheel. LMAO!
So, my question is since you pulled out the Sundown Zv6 how do you compare the two? The Zv6 has a larger motor but is rated at 2500 watts, the Xmaxxx is rated at 3000 watts. Which one hits harder and which has better sound quality?
Currently waiting for a serious answer
I just ran both through Winisd. The XMaxx actually looks more musical and pretty linear with nice roll off on the low. The ZVX has a slight edge on spl. But that all pre-break in parameters.
Been waitin for this your the first to do a video on it
That’s awesome, I think that sub would easily surpass 145 with a properly set up enclosure
easy and not broke in yet
It's American bass. Of course it would. American bass and sundown are running neck to neck. Dd is also.
American bass seems to have their shit together. I always thought they were cheesy subs because of the name but apparently I was wrong
Only 145? That aint much if you have the right enclosure
@@NuriBass69 for one sub that's great
For the algorithm. That enclosure looks awesome.

nice sub but at the price point I'll keep my sundown x v2s. hard every day sub to beat. Quality looks a little better to but if I ran across a used set of these I'd definitely try them ..

I was going to buy the Sundown X V2's until I watched his video of the Sundown X V2 vs a Skar VXF and seen how much better build quality the Skar really is. I know a lot fan boys will try to argue but I'm not loyal to any brand and am very open minded. Facts are facts to me.
Here is a list of things you Skar ZVX has but the Sundown X doesn't.
The ZVX has a stronger & better coil with thicker flat wound wire that is solidcopper instead of copper coated aluminum and has the black high temp coil glue to keep it wound and stuck together
The coil & basket cooling/venting is A LOT better with a lot more holes and bigger holes for cooling.
the spider is A LOT better put together with more glue and with a extra mounting ring to keep the spider mounted very well to the basket.
The terminals were stronger/stiffer
And I believe a few other things. All the Sundown X had better was a bigger motor, a fatter surround and better tensile leads. I bought a ZVX after watching that video and am more than pleased with the results. I don't fan boy out on any brand, I go off of build quality, power and price. I will never let a "logo" brand name cloud my vision of what the actual facts are. For the price of the Skar you cannot beat them
@@ThomasShelby-uq8cz Agreed. For the money Skar is a steal. That being said these 12" Xv2s on this Salt 4 in this Scion tc hatchback slam! Got both subs and a cab45 new in box for $1000 such a steal I couldn't pass it up, traded cab45 and some cash for the salt4

this the type of sub my car needs
Dude you came a LONG way in this hobby in a short few years!
Congratulations on your success!
I hope your RUclips checks are fat
These channels should really know that the best way to record subs is with a small sealed subwoofer used as a microphone. With appropriate frequency correction and impedance matching this will accurately record the loudest of subs at the lowest of frequencies, with None of the usual massive distortion found in basically every subwoofer demo video ever made, which somewhat defeats the point of making it.
Add a small dome midrange and you get a 'microphone' capable of accurately recording the loudest of sounds like gunshots/jet engines/etc. I figured this out 25 years ago when a friend couldn't record his kick-drum without blowing out his microphone, and building him a mini 'subwoofer-microphone' out of a 5 inch woofer with a tin can enclosure placed inside the drum solved that problem; he was absolutely stoked with it!
I been thinking about these for real. As always good video bro !

I'm glad I chose the Xv3's cuz this was deff a contender, but I've had american bass subs before and haven't heard the best about these long term 🤷♂️
Would you not recommend these?
@RomaVilla not that I wouldn't recommend, I just think there's better options at that price range. I've been to a good few shows where they don't seem to stand the test of time lol. But really it's all how you treat em. 🤷♂️
Love the vids man I love watching your channel Ive learned so much from you but I dont know if its just me or was your microphone cutting in and out a little bit in the beginning of the video
Can you do a video on what the best or top 12” sub is and the proper amplifier for the speaker. What the most powerful system you could put together before having to add additional batteries, alternators.
OH YEAH, definitely rockin this in a contest maybe 6 of them
That deff looks like way more then a 20mm throw one way. Atleast 30ish. I swear those specs they get from the build house or company doesn't really think about the break in period that plays a huge role in how the xmax changes because the spider has been given time to stretch her legs 🕷️ that thing gets down!!!
at 16:57 , reminds me of myself drunk with my ear into a loudspeaker in some disco playing way to loud. Having tinntus (piiping sound) in my ears for ever from that day. I've never tried it but does a inverted subwoofer even work? I thought the box design will not work when subwoofer is inverted
Of course by inverting you are giving more airspace inside the box. All things need to be considered. I would have cut the opening on up some and put it in regular. Would look awesome with that window to see inside.
They call me Dyno mat I'm here to help ! 🤣🤣
$519 is not to bad. Its within the rest of the market for the type of sub it is. The skar zxv line and of the sundown's are on par. Not what I would buy but to each their own.
I honestly think you can get similar result using less power with Skars EVL line in the factory box. Same price but comes already in a nice box. Skars SDR line is junk. Been beating the crap out a few sets of evls and they are still fine. Even the Kicker L7 Solos are junk now. Skars not gonna be cheap for much longer. I highly recommend the EVL line. Best bang for buck and hard to kill if you dont push them too far past 1000 watts. The SDR will die at 600 in a day.
What do you think?
Sweet set up. What sub would be a good pair for the memphis 1500 viv. Currently have 2x 750w kickers rms wired to 1 ohm. Any other subs that would nice to run with the memphis amp?? For continuous 1500w rms run???
So can a sub go lower than it’s Fs rating? Because it said 31hz but then proceeded to play 20hz… I thought Fs was the lower it can go. My shitty subs are rating for 30hz and I think they can barely hit 32hz because music with 30hz and lower it doesn’t play at all, 30hz gets quiet
I agree with you on not putting max power on amps but subs I think it's ok, for instance my zvxv2 18s are rated at 1600 RMS and 3200 max, but I have 9k Wolfram on 2 18s at 1 ohm on a daily, had set up for a few years, have not blown them
