    I just got mine delivered and installed today. Very easy and straight forward like your other products. Thanks for continuing to improve the scorpion.

    Caution!!!! this is old EVO version, this lower take down pin is held on by the "Bolt Stock" The new version on my plus 3 carbine the bolt stock has been redesigned and the lower receiver is held in place by a shiney cotter pin. Call HBI to confirm!!!!

    Why not check bolt stop hole to see if it needs to be chased with the drill bit BEFORE you take it out of the reciever? Curious.....thanks

      @hb_industries  2 года назад +1

      This is a good idea, we are going to consider re-making the video. (The chances of the bolt stop having a larger hole are low, nearly all of the Evo's to come through our shop have the smaller hole in them, but you are right, it could be less work to check the bolt stop while it is still installed in the receiver.)

      I did think of this after watching the video before installing mine. The hole was too small so I had to take it out anyway but I figured would be less work if it did fit without drilling

    My scorpion does this and it drives me nuts, so I'm considering this purchase. My question is: is there a functional difference by getting rid of that "wiggle"?

  • @kravstema6287
    @kravstema6287 2 года назад +1

    I did the installation today, followed the directions on the video. It still has some wobble, is this normal? Does the hbi pin only eliminate some of the wobble but not all?

    • @hb_industries
      @hb_industries  2 года назад

      Our pins are designed to slip fit into the lower and upper receiver assembly (to retain tool-less disassembly). The wobble should be significantly minimized, but without an interference/press-fit between the pin and the upper/lower, there will theoretically always be "some" play left. One thing that we have found helpful in some Scorpions is that adjusting and re-tightening the grip with respect to the lower can help further reduce the wobble if you still have some after installing our pin.

    It’s tight.

    • @hb_industries
      @hb_industries  2 года назад +1

      Correct. Old, new, or somewhere in between, if your Evo receivers are tight no need to change them. (Heck even if they are loose, we have not seen any functional drawback to the "wobble", it is primarily a superficial issue, we just wanted to offer a solution for people looking to tighten up the fitment on their Evo)

    any way to prevent the "ghosting"/scratching the polymer when installing bolt stop?

    • @hb_industries
      @hb_industries  2 года назад +3

      Yes, you can apply painters tape to the lower on the surfaces that the bolt stop will pass on the way out/in.

  • @Chris-pb3se

    I have the Ascalon Arms receiver shim that “solves” the same issue. Mine still has a small amount of play, can I use your pin in conjunction with the AA shim?

    • @hb_industries
      @hb_industries  2 года назад +1

      Yes, it would be possible to use both. Although, if you are happy with the shim we don't want to talk you into buying a pin too. In theory both products accomplish similar goals; I think the main difference is that our pin is more labor intensive upfront but should also be a longer term solution (while maintaining compatibility with all handgaurds past, present, future)

    • @Chris-pb3se
      @Chris-pb3se 2 года назад +2

      @@hb_industries so I installed your pin. I removed the AA shim and then reinstalled it to get an idea of both products separately. IMO, they both work well but they work better together. The shim acts like a spring between the upper and lower, while the HBI pin takes up the play statically. With both installed the upper and lower have a nice tension between them. Considering the price point of both products I highly recommend purchasing both. They also add to the firearm in other ways too, albeit in small ways. The AA shim is pretty and cleans up the look of the trigger group (disassembled 🤷‍♂️) and the HBI pin has the extended lip for a more tactile feel and use. Small things but very affordable.

    Meh, it’s like a AR receiver wobble. It doesn’t affect accuracy or reliability. It doesn’t matter, but if you can make money off it go for it.

    • @connormartin8259

      @@connormartin8259 My LWRC and KAC have some wobble to them at the receivers. Functionally they are fine with it. I’m not bothered by it, but I understand some people are.
      Fwiw, the design intention of the evo was for mass production and to be lower cost compared to other options on the market. It feeling “cheap” is just a by product of that. Compared to a HK or B&T it is cheap in construction. Not a bad thing.
