I'd buy DTC and never fakes. Lofts, lies, weights and shafts will never be right. Also I guarantee the finish and grooves wont last a month. Great video James, keep them coming brother.
I'm not up for these fake irons. I'd much rather buy decent price DTC irons or just decent used irons. I've picked up a used 5-PW set of 0311 P Gen 4 irons for £370.00 and they are just magic. I'll stick to used as 1 man's trash is another man's treasure 🙂
The problem with fakes is the person who buys it originally from Temu is fully aware of what they’re buying, but then after a while that fake is going to get sold on Facebook or eBay as the genuine product to some poor sod. Imagine paying £500 or so for what you think is a genuine set of p790s, you play them for six months or so with no success, so decide to trade them in only to be told they’re fake!
Seems that golf irons are pretty much a solved problem. Yes, there's varieties like blades, cavity, and hollow but in each category it seems pretty straight forward to get similar results with similarly constructed clubs and lofts. Personally, I like supporting local distributors that give great service. PXG gives free loft and lie adjustment. 2nd swing gives great support on both new and used gear. PGA Super Store, etc. Definitely save with D2C but that can be achieved by buying 2nd hand.
I've seen a couple of these type comparisons now and it makes me feel like or wonder if 1. The R&D money spent and the cost passed on to consumers for most, if not all clubs, would do horribly if subjected to a cost benefit analysis. 2. While there is certainly some differences in quality, the higher prices for genuine sticks is mainly attributable to the money spent on advertising, endorsement deals for pro's, etc. and the fact that they are marked up at least twice. Once by the manufacturer to the retailer and then again by retailer to the consumer or through a major manufacturers direct to consumer ordering website.
That was a super vid. They still don't serve a purpose because you can get a second-hand set of quality irons for the same price and be able to get your money back on them as they've already depreciated in value .
Swing looks good 👍. 5 mph more and you'll make the British Open 😉. When you make temp clubs look good you're doing something right. Been watching 👀 you for years I know your swing. Looking Good.
@@zahimiibrahim3602 it would be very naive to expect them to play like real deal MIURA. But i was surprised how good they came in. Every single head was in wraper and the pure head weight was correct with a sticker on the head. Weight progression was correct, better than any Mizuno real deal set of heads. I have not measured loft and lie, but it seems more or less correct.
I purchased a set of fake garden spades from ACME a few days ago. The shafts and handle were terrible. I replaced them with quality KBS and Lampkin and you know what? I was impressed with the performance. Lets jump in the studio Rob and look at the numbers compared to the top brands.
Well I bought a set of TEMU P790’s after watching your mate, AskGolfNut’s review! $281 to my door. They came and they are stunning looking in black, look good at the ball and feel good. I went out and shot 76 with them and I am 71, mid handicap. Thanks James
I did buy a partial set of irons that were fakes, I thought I was saving money? By the time I had re shafted and re gripped them I was out of pocket almost same as real brand name clubs. Even worse I was stuck with them as I could not sell or trade them? Never again I think?
I like others am uncomfortable with this, but i guess it’s informative. I spoke with an ex Ryder Cup captain that had just returned from a major manufacturers plant in China, same plant made various manufactuer heads. He said it was obvious that ghost shifts were in operation, and after delving found they used substandard materials to build identikit clubs, he was convinced they would return manufacturing back to the US. In respect of the cost of clubs, one day they are expensive, the next day you advocate buying a black set of irons for £2000, i agree paying for clubs comes down to your personal situation. Folk like me that like shiny new clubs, flood the used market for those on a budget or that think folk like me are mad. I by the way, think people that drink or smoke are mad, but i don’t ram it down their throat, to each their own.
I've never been able to afford a brand new set of premium clubs. And I would never buy counterfeit clubs, either. I support any/every effort that real manufacturers take to stop the counterfeiters. If you can't afford new premium, go with used, or even honest knockoffs. They're legal and they are up front about being knockoffs, so you know what you are getting.
@@JamesRobinsonGolfregardless you two are best mates it seems so I’m perfectly okay with seeing this again. It’s just 2 separate views nothing wrong with that.
I would stay away from fakes at all costs. For me a good 2nd hand set would be preferable to these & probably cheaper by the time they had been reshafted and regripped.
For me the issue is big brands charging £1200/1300 for 4-pw.. when u get a real shaft in those irons and find the only real difference for an average player will be a bit harsher feel to them, average player distance control wont be the best anyways.. Certainly u ll find a big difference in driver n woods etc.. maybe nxt video do a fake driver with a good after in it..say with a 80 gram shaft too.
Titleist clubs aren’t made in the USA. They make their clubs in China and have them assembled in the USA. Only PING and I believe PXG fully make and assemble in the US.
I'd think that once you bought them and replaced the shafts with decent ones, much of the savings would be gone. As others have said, I think it'd be better to go with a reputable DTC brand and know what you're getting.
I’m betting with good shafts they won’t perform that far off from the real irons. Off center strikes may suffer a bit more. Tho they are probably a good deal please people never by counterfeit products.
Many Scotty Cameron putters are really Ping knock offs, I have no problem with imitations provided they do not try to pass them off as another brand. It costs manufacturers money to put their clubs on this list and its obvious that the Big brands charge waaaaaay too much for their new clubs.
I bought a fake Ventus Shaft for $30 that outperformed the stock shaft in my driver and it's still in there. No idea what shaft it really is, but it's not a bad shaft apparently. 🤣
I once bought a used Scotty on eBay .after a magnet stuck to the putter head it was a fake. After questioning the seller he said “ I was selling for a friend “ 😂😂
how is it even possible to buy counterfeit chinese ripoffs and have them shipped into the country? There are plenty of options if you want a cost effective set to get going, get to Decathlon and buy some Inesis clubs or Costco for one of their packaged sets, at least they are their own brand and not trying to rip off someone elses hard work. It isn't even a discussion point, everything from these rip off sites should be 100% customs inspected and sent to the recycling center.
I find it really weird that the Taylormade heads themselves are no better than the fake heads and god knows what material they used in them.....I thought that was the most important part of an iron rather than the shaft.
First off, if you're buying new shafts to put on them, just how much are you really saving? And if you're a golfer who's competing in events where you have to worry about whether or not your clubs are confirming, are you really going to buy ultracheap knock-offs off Temu? Seems to me that their "target audience" is weekend golfers who want to look like they're serious enough to buy big-brand clubs, maybe because they're tired of being razzed for playing with decade-old used clubs...
My own set (TM RSi TP Forged) is near a decade old, nothing wrong with them other than being 2 clubs short in loft compared to some of the latest game improvers. Nobody ever razzed me and I don't see any truly significant technology improvement in the latest iron designs other than super strong lofts which in itself 'fake' in my opinion. Just my personal opinion but technology in irons has more or less been maxed out in the mid 2000's which is why 'extra distance' through playing around with loft has become the main selling point of modern irons.

ping eye 2 had illegal square grooves.
