Great job getting straight to the point and explaining everything I need to know in 2 minutes, Tyler. Most RUclipsrs make their simple videos overwhelmingly long and fill them with rambling and random sponsorships, whereas you didn't even bother and brought the entire important message across to your audience without causing them to waste significant time of their day. Extreme respect.
They get paid
@@jameswilliford5478 We figured as much. In other words, they are greedy.
This video is right on time! I'm putting up an antenna for my neighbor next weekend and she has a Roku TV. This probably saved me a lot of time and frustration.
I'm great with technology and it took me a good ten minutes to figure this issue out! It drove me crazy because I can usually figure out an issue within seconds.
@@AntennaMan Sometimes, all it takes is finding out what the exact make and model the TV is and looking up the PDF for the TV's instruction manual online...
@Justin-Hill-1987 but, but, but, he's Antenna Man💥💥💥and you're asking him to look at an instruction manual😂😂😂
Shouldn't need a manual to watch television on a television.
@@AntennaMan Me too I can look at a problem and come up with a solution pretty fast
OMG, that's it. My elderly parents have a Roku .. they watch OTA channels nearly exclusively, yet .. they've disappeared. I failed to figure out what you did. This pisses me off immensely. FIX IT, ROKU.
I'm great with technology and it took me a good ten minutes to figure this issue out! It drove me crazy because I can usually figure out an issue within seconds.
No, it"s because people complained that they combined their channels with the antenna channels and there was a huge backlash.
It gets hard to determine what's local and what's national when they are combined.
Now you know what it feels to be old and having these problems.
the fcc literally lists every single local channel you are "allowed" to get or should get, almost 70 or 80, BUT only 25 or thirty come in, each and every rescan, and it changes 😷☕🇺🇸
I do agree about this. For first-time users, the setup for these Roku TVs is convoluted, unless the person has the instruction manual on hand or knows what they're doing...
I also also agree that Roku should stop confusing the cordcutters...
If it's not baffling newbies, then the cordcutting platforms are paralyzing people with overwhelming choice and/or poorly designed interfaces (Andy Jassy, here's looking at you and Amazon).
They are doing this, because they get nothing out of it, no cash. Of coarse its not going to be front and center.
I too have noticed once you change channels from a local antenna to a roku streaming channel, the guide changes and hides the local ones again...
I had to go to settings and select HIDE STREAMING SERVICES and then RE-START the TV for antenna channels to be found. Like the line from Tom Petty's Last DJ album...." all the boys upstairs want to see, is how much you'll pay for what you used to get for free...".
I saw this option but figured a lot of people won't want to hide streaming channels. The easier solution would be for Roku to include all channels in the guide including the ones from the antenna.
@@AntennaMan The easiest solution: Put the DARN TV ANTENNA ICON back on the menu like before. Corporate goons are always trying to rob the consumer. Remember afta aftershave? The bottle is designed to stand upside down to facilitate every drop to be consumed. Well, guess what? Some genius in marketing thought 'Let's make the cap round so they can't squeeze every last drop out of it and thus they will have to buy another one earlier than with the flat cap'. When that happened I quit buying that brand. Guess what? afta went back to the flat cap later on when their CUSTOMERS rightfully quit buying their product. I HATE CORPORATE AMERICA. THEY HATE THEIR CUSTOMERS AND THEY THINK WE ARE STUPID! Bud Lite anyone?
Now I know it's the Roku TV giving my mom problems in getting local channels.
Thanks for the info. 😁
Tyler has to be one of the most informative lovable nerdy RUclipsrs 😅
I always thought his introduction was someone extremely depressed and suicidal.
Seriously one of the most informative channels on youtube. Thank you again Tyler!
A different perspective…I have had a Roku TV for over 2 years. When I got the TV, the only way to setup live channels with my antenna was with the Live TV icon. I renamed mine OTA. I do not believe the Live Channels guide was even an option. When I did finally notice the Live Channels guide, I checked it out only to find that there are no truly Live channels available - only streaming channels. The Live Channels guide is nothing more than a marketing ploy to get you to watch Roku channels and commercials. I don’t think it is an oversight by Roku.
I wonder if it could be a software bug. Yep, I hear you saying 'fix it'. I've seen other quirks. Love this channel, Antenna Man!
Not a bug. The two different "Live TV" icons on a Roku TV are actually two distinct apps. The purple "Live TV" app is actually the "Roku Channel" app inherited from the Roku box/stick. The black and white "Live TV" app is the TV tuner app (only found on Roku TV, not on the Roku box/stick) for watching TV from the ATSC/QAM tuner. What is causing the mass confusion is that the TV tuner app ALSO supports the streaming channels from the Roku Channel app and are included in the program guide by default. IMO, the "Roku Channel" app should just be removed from the Roku TV OS software because the TV tuner app does everything it does, but Roku probably can't do that (easily) because the Roku TV OS is just the Roku box/stick OS with things ADDED to it to support the TV hardware it is customized for.
@@Tempora158 They just recently added that black and white live tv app to all Roku models, including non-TV ones. My Roku express has it, but it only shows streaming channels. I think it is intentionally confusing so they can push people to streaming services.
@@Tempora158
These used to be two distinct apps, unique to each type of device. Roku TV's would only show the TV Tuner "app," even if you had the purple Live TV app installed on your other Roku devices. Stand-alone Roku sticks/players would only show the fancy purple app, since they lack TV tuners. Simple. Some time last year, Roku changed this. Now, they have made things even more confusing, by adding the TV Tuner version of the app to Roku sticks/players, alongside the existing purple version. This may cause the opposite problem of confusing people into thinking these devices have TV tuners, when they do not. On a Roku stick, functionally the only difference between the two Live TV apps is that the plain looking TV Tuner version takes you directly back to the Home screen when you back out of it. If you use the purple Live TV version and hit the Back button, it will take you to the Roku Channel app, rather than going directly to the Home screen. Again, this is happening on devices that do not even have TV tuners, so there is absolutely no reason to have two different versions of the same app on each device.
Roku, make it simple and put it back the way it was before. The purple Live TV app version should be reserved for the devices without TV tuners, to approximate the function of the TV tuner app for devices that need a Guide app to access the streaming channels. Roku TV's with built-in tuners already have the TV tuner app that integrates the streaming channels with the OTA channels. The purple icon is not needed on these TV's.
@@Tempora158 I have an option on my Roku TV to hide that menu selecton and app icon for streaming tv channels. Doing so does not prohibit me from accessing real live TV and the streaming live TV channels from the other Live TV option.
OMG. Thank you. I thought I was going crazy several times. I mean, I probably am but this ROKU problem didn't help any! 😆 I seriously, could never figure it out ... now I know there are two LIVE tv selections that give different results.
That was confusing to me too. Now try to explain to a senior......
This type of content is why I love Antenna Man so much. Thank you for doing the research most of us no longer have time to do. You're concise and honest. That's rare in this landscape these days.
Thanks. In my experience Roku has been the best tv service of the last 2 decades.
I agree it's probably the best streaming device out there. I just wish it didn't de-prioritize local channels from an antenna.
@@AntennaMan M-O-N-E-Y 🤬
Yes, Roku is pushing streaming. But found easy way to get/find them.
Use voice function on remote.
Just say "channel 5" or whatever channel you want.
It pops on! Then the Channel Guide will show the OTA channels.
Yes Roku Tv has been hiding locals OTA/Over The Air channels for about a year, since last summer June 2023. Roku pulls stuff like this all the time, like forcing people to watch streaming in the highest resolution that it can get instead of allowing viewers to decide.

Tyler people were freaking out when Roku initially combined their antenna channels with their own channels so they had to create separate options. To combine them you have to select the option when you initially set up your antenna.
I love a guy whos man enough to admit he made a mistake. When did watching TV become so difficult ??? When the Govt got involved..
Since antenna tv is madated by federal law would a tv that blocks them be a violation? Should it be reported to the FCC?
I'm new to Roku. My mom, who is in hospice at a local assisted living faculty, has a Roku tv. At 92, years old, she has a difficult time figuring out what to watch. I found the differences in "Roku live tv" and "live tv". On the other hand, she really has a difficult time distinguishing between the two.
There shouldn’t be a difference. It’s crazy to have such inconsistent behavior on identical named items. “Live TV” app should be “Live TV” app - regardless of where you launch it from on the Roku. (But it’s not.)
@@curtispavlovec I agree!
I haven't looked into it, but I'll try to remove the Roku live tv app from my mom's tv. I highly doubt that I'll be able to do it without some type of a hack.
By the way, today while they were discussing their ages, my 92 year old mom told her lunch pals that she was 102. Perhaps it's a fruitless battle to mess around with her tv. 😒
Another viewer suggested renaming the first "live TV" icon to "Antenna TV" to differentiate the two.
@@majorbuzz You can go into the Roku settings and hide categories, which are the items in the sidebar.
I bought a Roku TV thinking I'd avoid all the BS. It is SO annoying! I'm thinking of returning it. thanks for the help
Thanks for the info. Recently I purchased a Roko TV & only set up a few of its channels. Because I had local channels on another tv, I hadn't bothered with the new tv. Now I know what to look for.
I'll have to take a look at my Roku device settings, right now I use my Tablo box to get OTA local channels.
GREAT information Tyler !!!
Have an awesome day!
Yes they are ! I started having problems with the TV antenna channels dropping when the Roku is plugged in 😮
28.1, 28.2, 28.3, etc and some other channels do not come in at certain time of the day, mostly at night, and other times I get five bars full strength. I do use a small antenna on the roof chimney which is probably more sensitive to interference. I wish there was some kind of filter to filter out the interference but I don't know where it is coming from or what frequency to block, and its probably the same frequency as those channels that the interference is coming from so I can't block it or can I? These channels I mentioned are Los Angeles channels in Southern California. I did not get interference on the old large antenna (VHF/UHF/FM) that was old and needed replacing. I probably will get a 200 dollar channel master antenna with (VHF/UHF/FM) reception in future. I also have a FM radio and a HDradio tuner that requires FM signal. I live in Seal Beach on the coast so I'm about forty miles from Mt. Wilson where the transmitters are.
not all heroes wear capes..... thank you antenae man ☕
I've learned a lot from your videos, but this isn't Roku "hiding" local channels, it's user error. I've been running Roku TVs and boxes since 2020, which was also when I switched to antenna over cable, and I've never had a single issue with the Roku "hiding" channels....probably because I read instructions....
Most people don't read the user manual. Even if they did, one would assume that antenna channels would be shown on the guide from the one icon. The fact that I had issues figuring it out means there's a serious problem.
@AntennaMan I deduced that it was their live TV option based on the fact that it looks exactly like their Roku TV icon.....but power of deduction isn't necessarily some people's strong suit. Very click baity video titles here of late, you're better than that.
Thank you so much for this video. Even in the guide that shows them, you have to scroll all the way to the top and not look at categories.
ROKU will also remove the local channels the were favorited when the system or software reboots. Thanks for your informative content Tyler
Never understood why it can be so hard to find local channels on a Roku TV. There's also as far as I can tell no category that's for the local channels on the guide like how there's categories for stuff like comedy and news channels on the roku streaming channels, which can make finding them still hard, even when you're in the right menu.
I don't get why Roku doesn't put the antenna channels first within the channel guide. Most would agree that local channels are probably the most important. I wouldn't be surprised if it has to do with money as there is definitely some exchanging hands between Roku and some channels integrated within the channel guide.
@@AntennaManyep. The answer is always $$$.
I don't think it is hard, it's just confusing due to the layout.
I've noticed that... but I hardly use the antenna for watching tv any more. FWIW I have a fairly modern TCL branded Roku TV.
Putting a check mark next to the channel adds them to your favorites. You can access them from Channel Guide, just press the left arrow and then select “show all channels” or go to favorites.
Hi Tylor, Thanks to watching your channel I put up my antenna with the proper ground. i used a 40 inch mast with a rca yogi antenna and preamp. It works great for me. I have the new tablo also and that also works great,, I record and watch later. when I have time. Thanks.
They used to be there but somewhere between 6 and 4 months ago they have been removed... I used to get them in that menu location but discovered what you bought up just today also
We recently got a Roku TCL TV, model 43S451. When I first saw the "home" screen, I easily spotted the simpler looking icon for Live TV (the one that lists all the OTA channels). It looked similar to the icon on a Philips we had before. I didn't encounter the problem you're describing. It was some time later that I noticed that other Live icon, with NO over-the-air channels.
I discovered the same thing the day I got my Philips' Roku TV, so I set the "boring" Live TV mode as the default when the TV starts up.
Have a problem with the PBS sub channels and some others when doing a scan they don't come up. Roku needs to fix that. I end up have to watch them with a HD homerun
Ridiculous! That is one thing I like about LG TVs. The OTA and the internet "IP" channels are all in the same lineup/guide under Live TV. Very seamless.
At least my LG remote has a numeric keypad so I can enter a channel #, Roku not so.
I saw this too. On older Roku devices the “Live TV” old school icon doesn’t exist - only the “pretty” large purple Live TV icon. I don’t understand why they aren’t identical but apparently not.
I also don't understand why the two guides aren't identical.
@@AntennaMan
The purple one was intended to be a streaming-only Guide app for Roku sticks and other stand-alone Roku players. The problem is that it is now also showing up on Roku TV's that already had their own integrated TV Tuner Guide. This makes it difficult for those of us who have both stand-alone Roku players and Roku TV's on the same Roku account. We need the purple version for easy access to the streaming channels on our sticks. However, adding an app to one Roku automatically adds it to every Roku on the account, including the TV's that don't need it. This comes in handy for most apps, since there is no need to do a Search on each Roku device to manually add a new app to each one. The Live TV guide issue is confusing, though.
As I said in my other comment, now even my Roku sticks have added a new Live TV guide app that looks identical to the TV Tuner version, even though there is no TV tuner in the stick. So now all of my Rokus have both versions of the Guide, when all I need is one TV Guide (the appropriate one for each device) on each device. How hard can this be for Roku to understand? I could uninstall the purple one, I suppose, but I refuse. It was there first (on the sticks) and it looks nicer. The confusing duplicate (that was automatically added by Roku) is the one that needs to go away.
Roku has their own live channels like Amazon with Freevee and Google with Pluto. Local channels on all TV's are an input not an app, the apps are their service. All tvs are set up the same.
Just THANK YOU!!!!! 🎉 It worked! But yes, i agree! Roku needs to fix this!!!
This is the exact problem I was having. Wish I would have seen this video sooner 😅
Yeah I had everything disappear. Had to dig deep to find the well buried in the home screen of all places.
Probably because Roku isn't able to share or has to share revenues? It's all about the money.
My Roku TV has this really weird bug where it think my CBS station (WCBS) is the MeTV channel
Incorrect guide data occasionally happens on Roku and Fire TVs but it's usually with one or two small low powered channels, not the largest CBS station in the country.
I was confused about that at first but I think I found how to get around it in a RUclips video .
Crap! Boo on Roku TVs! We've had enough abuse around our Antenna TV sets., and I say we nominate Tyler for President. He'll make TV Great Again! 👍😎👍
This is why I avoid these smart TVs as an antenna user. Because there’s new TVs that lack a coaxial connection for antenna, because those manufacturers purposely want people to directly stream from their apps that mimic the antenna user experience.
What you described is a nascent product category called Smart Displays, not Smart TVs. The Consumer Technology Association requires a member company's TV set marketed as a "TV" to have a TV tuner. Otherwise, it's not a TV.
@@Tempora158 it’s a TV! Because it’s meant to watch television! There’s some smart TVs that don’t have a tuner, because the manufacturer wants to cut costs and use Wi-Fi. And because of the OS from Roku, Google, WebOS which I find it clunky to flip OTA channels.
@@Markimark151 Dude, I wasn't making up the "Smart Display" thing; when Vizio was selling displays that did not contain a TV tuner during the years 2016-2017, they could not, and did not, call them TVs; they were "Home Theater Displays". However, the lack of a TV tuner in even their flagship models caused enough market confusion that everything Vizio released since 2018 contain a TV tuner. No one since Vizio has released a so-called "TV" that doesn't have a TV tuner.
@@Tempora158 I know about those so called tuner-free displays from Vizio! But there’s still new televisions without coaxial tuners sold at Best Buy and Costco, which are made for cost savings and sold at steep discounts. It’s kind of like Apple and Samsung got rid of the headphone jack, but not realizing lot of people still use wired headphones because of their quick connection to their devices!
Hola antena man ese mismo problema lo tiene ahora la marca VIZIO agregó los canales locales a su plataforma d stremen quiere decir que para verlos tienes wue entrar a su aplicación
Exactly why I don't use built-in Tuner's from Roku or Amazon Devices. I use a SiliconDust HDHomeRun Flex 4K ATSC 3.0 Tuner. I do get less Channels when using it compared to just using the TV's built-in Tuner but I'm still able to get 76 Channels and all of the Local Channels so I'm fine with it. Also they don't want people getting Free TV so that might be why they are Blocking the Channels also.
This is the story, ROKU is strictly for streaming. People told this, local channels use an antenna. I watch Friendly Television and Philo, and they instruct for local television use an antenna. I should mention I can’t get any local channel because since they went digital and UHF they broadcast with less power.
I didn't notice them missing since I normally use the big Home screen icons to select the input: TV, Computer, Game Console, or Blu-Ray player . . .
I just change the input on my tv.
This is certainly true! The locals are hidden on the guide, took a little while to figure it out 😅
As a Roku viewer myself, it also depends entirely on what model of Roku TV you have. If you have a smaller Roku streamer connected to an HDMI jack on a dumb TV, you will be forced to use the TV's built-in tuner to watch your local channels as the set-top boxes don't have a TV tuner in them, which is perfectly fine with me under certain conditions. However, a Roku TV generally will have a TV tuner, and as you discovered, I try to have the Live TV applet configured to make it as unambiguous as possible to easily distinguish it between the Roku Channel on the home screen. You can actually even set the Live TV icon to display on the homepage as an antenna. Beware a faulty internet connection because under those conditions, the Live TV applet will _only_ show you your local channels, provided you've had the presence of mind to run a channel scan with a high-quality over-the-air antenna and not some - in the facetious words of another viewer - "PingDingChing" "8K HDR DTV" antenna with an obviously falsified 5,000-mile range rating.
Helpful, thanks!
This is very helpful. This is so reduculas
I agree with you 100 percent, ROKU should have the antenna channels blended in with their FAST channels in one guide, and one guide only. It is very confusing to have to go back and forth between 2 different guides. This is a stupid corporate decision.
Roku is just an add - on dongle on my flat TV. That should keep it under control. I've been thinking of swapping the TV away or giving it to one of the supermarket clerks who can hardly afford one. I'm keeping my 13 inch knob channels TV for VHS and my bird feeder camera.
Tyler, I've got a new Phillips ROKU TV. The off air channels are hard to find and sometimes I need to re scan to find the OTAs. They are stuffing the streaming stuff down our throats.
They just pushed an update to my Roku TV a few days ago that made it so there is only a single Live TV option. You go to the same place whether you access via the side menu or via the channel all/icon block. When they did that, I had a really hard time getting back to live TV channels. Fortunately I had favorites and recents and could get back to them. I tried to just scroll continuously thinking live TV would be sorted at the end or top of the list, but at first it just looped me in the Roku "live" channels" until I figured out I could look at recents to get back to an OTA channel.
My TCL with Google TV does the EXACT same thing!
My TCL Roku TV has never had this issue. Antenna channels were always listed. What I don't like is the limited amount of channels I can get even with a flat Channel Master indoor antenna (as recommended by this channel).
Wow 🤯 thank you! I was about to give up and order cable again😢
It’s works !! And all the streaming channel are gone
I actually made that mistake once. And then they put the live TV from the antenna in with the streaming live channels. I bought a TCL Roku TV in September of 2022. And they were mixed in and they actually number those streaming channels like you would have the numbered on a digital cable system. And they ran up into like channel 2,200 something or other. It's confusing at first.
Does this only apply to Roku TV's or does this include the Roku players as well?
Only Roku TVs.
See my other comments for more details. Roku players now have both versions of the guide app, as well. Obviously, there is less difference between the two versions on a device without an OTA tuner. It could still trick some people into thinking that there are supposed to be OTA channels in that guide, though. Then, they get confused when they can't find the antenna channels, not realizing that they are using the Roku without a tuner, rather than the Roku TV with a built-in tuner.
I initially had the wrong idea about this video. Our Roku TV will find 17 local channels, however I only see 16, (plus the streaming channels), in Antenna Input. Channel 6.6 The365 only appears when there is no internet connection. Also DefyTV has the program guide data for TheGrio. The "Are We There Yet" streaming channel is also hidden, but it should be there. The OS search function will locate the live channel. I press OK, the channel loads, but after I press Left to view the guide, channel 281 is nowhere to be seen.
Yes, the antenna channels always disappear after a day or two.
Glad I bought a 3rd Gen, 128 GB Apple TV 4K last February to replace both my Roku Ultra & my Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max with!
It’s not a bug. I’m sure it’s on purpose to direct more people to their streaming channels with commercials that they profit from. Anytime something doesn’t make sense, follow the money.
Also go Penn State. I went thee in the early 90’s
You can also just turn off streaming tv if you have an antenna.
I saw that option but figured a lot of people won't want to hide streaming channels. The easier solution would be for Roku to include all channels in the guide including the ones from the antenna.
@@AntennaMan yeah
Anti consumer feature!
I also noticed this on our TCL Roku TV a while back after it did a firmware update.. I have decided to never buy anymore Roku TVs since you can't stop these updates. You don't suppose it is on purpose? They probably get money if you watch the streaming channels instead...
If I buy a Roku TV and it has this bug, I'll know now how to get the OTA TV channels up on the channel guide. I currently own two older Roku streaming boxes, but don't use them, I don't have time for that much TV watching.
I manage all the channels I want then the next day ROKU adds more channels which I don't want. I then have to re-manage my channels then a few days later more channels are added. I contacted ROKU about this but they never responded. This has been happening for the past year that I've had ROKU....Grrrrr!
Hey Tyler, is there a curvature calculator to determine how high your antenna should be to receive a channel not in your market?
You can try different heights up to 110 feet to see how it changes the reception report on rabbitears below. It's best to get the channel into the "poor" category for the best shot of picking it up. www.rabbitears.info/searchmap.php
I'm here because today some of my local channels (2- 84) stop working. They were scanned along with the streaming channels without an antenna during the initial setup of the tvs. I now can only get channels 2-10 and when i click on the other 11-84, (my basic cable channels) the screen goes blank. No more cnn , msnbc, bravo and the others.
Sadly I do notice the same crap with a Roku TV!
YES! I had been noticed this issue.😮
Hey, we have this exact same issue with TIVO. Infact I got it for my elderly parents so that they could receive all the local channels & thrn I found out the datn thing was Useless! X-((! It did not get a single local channel. Is there any way to get a TIVO Box to pick up local channels? Please answer my question, it would really help. Thanks.
Hey can you look at the updated mohu leaf supreme I’ve been seeing a lot of people talking about it recently considering upgrading to it
With the latest update to my TVs firmware I can no longer see a number of local channels that I used to get. I have rescanned a number of times and they still don't show up. I still see local channels but not all local channels. I want to get this fixed too.
Excellent information. Thank you!
hope you never get demonetized/ban/shadow banned, etc like the rest of the people that say uncomfortable true to the people. 👍
This has happened to me on the live TV channel. I had to disconnect the wifi network so the OTA channels would show. It happened a while ago but so far it was fixed
I changed the live tv icon where the antenna channels show up on my TCL Roku TV to "antenna" to keep track of what's what.
That's a great idea!
interesting video my sisters fire tv had same issue ....
..didn't notice this but i always use the 'less lively' icon... heck of a way to report a bug LOL..
Finding a TV that actually has a useful TV tuner built into it is also an issue. Some TV tuners are just too basic.
I found that Samsung TVs have the best tuner interface for local channels from an antenna.
Must be, in my experience external boxes with antenna gained more channels. Problem is the remote for it goes bad really fast
@@nugsymalone1247 I have an external TV tuner box and it sucks too. It's hard to find one that has fine tuning. I had a TV that would at least let me tune into a channel all by itself either though there's weak signal, but at least I could see some sort of signal and have it locked in when a better signal comes in on certain nights.
@@AntennaManSamsung can be a bit of a pain, especially if you buy one of their higher end sets as their solar powered remotes they come with are ridiculously minimalistic. Samsung in their infinite wisdom did not even include a settings button on them resulting in a plethora of button presses to access such a commonly used part of the television.
@@AntennaMan NICE, THANKS!!!!😃
I have owned Roku TVs since 2019. There is far more bizarre stuff than this too. I'm quite sure they intentionally change configs to favor the sketchy religious and ad-filled channels they advertise too. They change quick launch remote buttons from their usual app (printed on the button even). Never buying their products again.
That was not the answer I was looking for ... I'm having a problem with subchannels not showing up, for example Columbia SC I'm receiving 25.1 - 25.8 and I do a rescan for the new MeTV Toons 25.9 (which the local TV station confirms it is available) and 25.9 is nowhere to be found BUT I'm still receiving the other subchannels. I thought that was what you meant by Roku is hiding local channels. I cannot figure out how to get this new channel.
All my icons for HDMI, AV input and RF input disappear if the TV hasn't been connected to Internet for a few days. I have to go to the TV power button and hit it to make the power button menu come up to find the inputs without connecting to Internet.
Question, what TV brand. As far as I know Roku doesn't make TVs, TV manufacturers include Roku in their product. I have two different TV's with Roku in them as well as a couple of Roku boxes connected to older TV's, the stand alone boxes only have the menu that displays streaming channels only, it has no tuner. The issue you seem to complain about is the way the TV manufacture has integrated Roku into their product. Both the TV's I have with Roku you set the TV/streaming menu to start when you power up the TV.
They just need to rename the "Live TV Channel Guide" to something else. I'm trying to remember but a year or so ago it wasn't that name nor did it exist.
I found if I just use the voice feature on remote and say “Antenna channel 5.1 “ or whatever, it takes me to the channel and if I hit the left arrow, I see the channels for my antenna.
I knew all this. They aren't hiding channels, it's streaming live channels. When you select the live tv from input that's like switching inputs form hdmi to antenna. And I knew ticking the box removed channels because it said so at the top. 🤔
So the difference here is "Live TV" is an App, verses the other one is an "Input" I understand the concept because I'm in IT, I can totally imagine others being completely confused, especially since the guides look completely the same. They should change the App name to "Live Stream TV App" to at least try to alleviate confusion.
They are both apps. Everything on the Roku TV is an app. The problem is Roku named two different apps "Live TV" but only one of them can access the TV tuner.

My TCL Roku TV, does have a start-up option that goes straight to Antenna TV mode on Power-up, but it is buried in the settings menu.
