    The UK struggling so much is sad to me. London puts on this face and you’d never suspect it from afar. But if you watch GMB or other morning news, as I do sometimes, they subtly talk about fuel allowances and NHS struggles but they quickly pivot to royal news or some nonsense making it all seem slightly hush hush. They’ll still spend an hour debating why Keir Starmer got free Taylor Swift concerts and whether or not he ok’d a police escort for her due to security concerns. But not that someone is still waiting for an ambulance, the 8 MILLIONTH patient is added to the NHS queue, bank managers are making 20K a year, and every high street store is boarded up. Especially up north. It’s criminal what Downing a street has done to the REST of the UK. Who was advising those conservatives who made ZERO investment and pushed austerity?! It just made it all worse.

    I don't disagree with the comments in this video but as someone who lives in the UK and who has never lived in London I do think this isn't the whole truth. A lot of videos I see about the UK only focus on 'London' whereas in reality you can go years living in the UK without ever going near London and the situation outside of London is very different. I earn a reasonable salary (would probably be considered a 'poor' London Salary) and me and my partner (both on a similar salary) are more than capable of having a decent quality of life outside of London on what we earn.

    • @InvinciblePythonEddy
      @InvinciblePythonEddy Месяц назад +3

      Not really. Many people in less developed countries not only own the house but the land. Additionally, a mortgage isn’t ownership, that’s an illusion and if you have no life outside of paying for your home, life can suck. The minimum an economic system should provide is a home, especially one that has been consistently sold to us at the expense of others.

  • @Abdul_Rahman86
    @Abdul_Rahman86 Месяц назад +11

    It’s due to 2 things:
    Universal credit
    NHS
    Someone has to pay for these services. And the people that pay the most are the hardest workers. The uk is obsessed with subsidising the least productive and the expense of the most productive.
    Here’s an example. Someone with mental health issues will cost tax payers £5k per week minimum. Some cases they can cost £25k! Not per month or year! Per week.
    Now I don’t want to ostracise them but how is this sustainable?

    • @Srindal4657

      Completely disagree. The real reason is that the rich has never paid their due in tax. Here are some of the Reasons why many (68million people), life in the UK and why they have not all left/ are trying to leave and why many ( especially the wealthiest of the world including those from the richer middle east countries such as UAE and Saudi spend an enormous amount of time there and often have their second home there).
    1. Citizenship. The truth is these visas are there to benefit the locals who currently need your labour but if they ever did not need your labour or thought it was not in their interest to have you (e.g. the AI revolution) you would be send back home without a second thought. I know many who lost their jobs after 10+years and had to leave these places even though their kids were born their and had thought of it as their home.
    2. Stability/Long Term Wealth there is a reason why the super rich even from the middle east buy companies and property in the UK, it was there 200 years ago and they believe it will keep it's wealth for centuries to come. Some of these places did not exist 20 years ago and although it may seem like they have diversified their economy away from fossil fuels you will see that the thing that makes those other sectors of their economy competitive is the tax breaks that you get which they can only do due to the profits from fossil fuels. The world is moving away from fossil fuels and people are unsure whether these economies will be competitive when they don't have the fossil fuel revenue and have to fund themselves like every other country in history with tax. Will the $500,000 property still be worth it after the fossil fuel age goes away? Is a dessert really the best place to sustain a large population? Only time will tell.
    4. Access. Fundamentally in these countries something else subsidies the tax revenue they do not receive. This only works with a relatively small population so it is just impossible for the majority of the population of the world to live in similar systems as there is not enough raw materials to subside the 8 Billion people.
    5. Education and the cutting edge of Technology. Even the wealthiest locals in these countries still send their children to be educated in the UK, US and similar countries. Google Deep Mind (their AI division) is based and founded in London and it's founder just won the Nobel prize. If you want to work the absolute cutting edge of what is humanly capable you need to live in these countries. The exception being if you want to lead on the very large, mainly infrastructure projects in which case you often need to be trained at one of the best universities in the world (which are in the west + china and now India increasingly as well) and have substantial work experience in those places, after which you will be scouted to work in the middle east.
    This is just some of the Reasons many people live in the UK and why I believe the UK, Europe, US... Will not die and will not have their entire populations move to lower tax countries. Of course though many individuals will have benefits from moving to other places like the creator of this video and you should always explore your options and create the best life possible for you as he has done 😊

    Safety is an interesting one as if you look at homicide (murder) rates you will see you are actually half as likely to be killed in the UK compared with Thailand however Thailand feels safer mainly because most murders in the UK make it to the news/social media and the language is English so people all over the world can find out about it whereas this is not the case in other countries. People from the UK often mention the stabbings and say how bad it's gotten and how it was safe when they were kids in the good ol days when if you actually look at the stats the homicide rate is significantly lower than in the 2000s, 1990s and 1980s its just now you hear about the ones that happen a lot more. Also I like to focus on homicide rates as many others just aren't reliable for example rape in the UK is extremely high, apparently higher than in countries that do not even believe in marital rape which we of course know is not the case. Or for example kidnapping could be higher than other countries where the police are simply bribed so that the offence is never registered as kidnapping. We often hear about people in power being prosecuted for their crimes that have been covered up for years and these mainly occur in the UK/US/Europe. Do we believe people in power do not abuse their power in other countries or maybe they never get held to account. I mean even in these western countries sometimes they only get held to account after they have passed away. If something terrible happened to your child by someone in power, Government/Celeb/Royal do you believe you have more chance getting to justice in some of these other countries. So some times having power more concentrated at the top results in less crime in the lower classes due to strict enforcement of the law, but virtual immunity for crimes committed by the upper classes and large organisations such as the police and government.
