How to time a Vw Citi Golf engine.

Hi Gary, could you do a video on setting the timing in concise detail, I know on mk1/mk2 citi/golf/scirocco 1.3 to 1.8 there are 4 timing marks to align before Timing belt removal. (Gearbox inspection plug, distributer, crankshaft and intermediate shaft and cambelt sprocket) could you show in order please.

Hello there... I'm quite happy about the car starting straight off the bat... ive had a car that started 1st time I swung but spun a bearing in the 20min break in period... then a car with an annoying wrist pin rattle... now a worked motor producing no power lol 🖒

Hi please I need help I have a Citi golf 1.6 carb when I line the crank pulley and the pulley for the distributor the di distributor sits not straight please help me
It does not have to be straight it must line up with no 1 cylinder on the distributor, on the notch on the distributor, watch the video carefully you cannot go wrong by following the video,

Can I just set my distributor straight on its place and then put the belt on please I need help I don't understand when I line the 2 pulleys up the distributor Is not standing right
Remember the third pulley driven by the belt drives the distributor so it should be lined up as in the video or the vehicle may not start.

Check all your air pipes to see if it is connected properly and not sucking air.

Lifters sound loud you didn't do the right sir it suppose to start on first swing.

Remember the start may be based on the availability of fuel. Your carb starts on first swing probably because you have pumped the Accelerator. I have a carb 1.3 too. If the timing wasn't right, it wasn't going to start at all. So job well done is due 👏 👍
