Zodiac MK3 Grand Raid Assembly

Mike puts a new out of the box Zodiac MK3 Grand Raid together to show just what's involved. Things that make this easier that we didn't do is to stretch the boat without floorboards on a brand new boat, as well as spray soapy water around the tube to floor fabric seam to let the new floorboards slide into place. A new out of the box boat will fight you for the first assembly so just have patience and if possible a helping hand.

Oh man, I feel you pain, an extra pair of hands is a god send when getting the floor in on these. I have a GR mkII , probably nearly 30 years old and still going....plenty of patches for sure 🤣

you bet we always have a couple in stock or on their way from the factory. The Zodiac Grand Raid is the stuff of legend and probably the model most people identify with but don't know it. It's a very popular boat in the marine biology and rescue circles because of it's time tested feature rich design.

I just bought an Australian ex-military MK3 4.7m and cant get the floor in. I used to use these in the military myself back in the 80's and the floor was much easier to get in. Mine has a slightly different layout to this. It has a similar wooden floorboard in the bow, but the next floorboard is a short wooden board that is fixed in the boat and then 4 aluminium floorboards. It's like the floor is a bit too long. I stood on the middle two boards like in this video, but they just popped up again. Also, mine has two long and two short side bits and I couldn't get them to go on at all. I did think of inflating the boat fully without the floor to see if that stretches it a bit, but haven't had the chance to try putting the floor in again yet. Will also try the soapy water tip.

You made a easy job very hard. You would find it a bit easier if you part inflate the tubes first.
